03:37:32 <MrMobodies> I have found palmrest for my W700 in good condition.
03:38:02 <MrMobodies> It seems difficult to find certain parts apart from a new keyboard and battery.
03:38:24 <MrMobodies> https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/312915798105
03:39:05 <MrMobodies> It doesn't come with a wacom tablet that is going to break when I put my hand over it to use the pointer.
03:41:08 <MrMobodies> It has a crack over it so it needs replacing.
03:46:17 <coppice_> clean off the crack before the cops find it
04:07:28 <MrMobodies> I has a back label on it at the moment
04:09:16 <MrMobodies> I have found another battery from an old time seller and I ordered a keyboard. Some of the letters are coming off.
05:02:09 <MrMobodies> It is actually the same seller in France that I got my last two over the years and they seem genuine and able to hold their charge for over 3 hours or so and they weigh the same. So I'll see if this one is going to be the same
05:02:11 <MrMobodies> https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/382371750331
05:02:51 <MrMobodies> But like the original they seem to loose their capacity over the years significantly.
05:04:38 <MrMobodies> I'm going out for my walk.

09:44:49 <Halcyon> Ampera
09:44:52 <Halcyon> I pet the cockatoo
09:44:53 <Halcyon> :D
09:45:01 <Ampera> Hullo
09:45:09 <Ampera> I did something even more impressive
09:45:09 <Halcyon> Actually, let me try get a photo
09:45:13 <Ampera> I wrote something in C using pointers
09:45:15 <Ampera> and it worked
09:48:25 <Halcyon> Oh yay!
09:48:29 * Halcyon points at Ampera
09:48:57 <Ampera> Programming using vtty's on a one screen device is a special kind of hell
09:49:01 <Halcyon> https://imgur.com/a/1FEgDGN
09:49:09 <Ampera> it's like a desk stacked with papers you keep shuffling through, but it's in your head
09:49:21 <Ampera> brid
09:49:52 <Halcyon> Yep, he was super gentle. Didn't try and eat my hand
09:50:32 <Ampera> C pointers are like all the worst parts of high level college math
09:50:34 <Ampera> it
09:50:49 <Ampera> 's obtuse and barley works, but smarter people than I will fucking flex on me with them
09:52:15 <Halcyon> T3sl4: Did you see my cock(atoo)? https://imgur.com/a/1FEgDGN
09:52:33 * T3sl4 inspects Halcyon's plumage
09:53:06 <Ampera> T3sl4, I did the thing with C pointers I had wanted to do
09:53:09 * steve30 meows at Halcyon
09:53:17 <Halcyon> Steve, you leave the bird alone :P
09:53:20 <Halcyon> It's not for eating
09:53:29 <Ampera> I have a fully dynamic jagged array of c strings in the works
09:53:35 * T3sl4 hugs Ampera
09:53:37 * steve30 eyes up the bird :p
09:53:56 <Halcyon> I reckon the bird would kick your ass honestly, the have a very strong bite if they wanted to
09:54:00 <Halcyon> *they
09:54:07 <Ampera> That thing is fucking tiny
09:54:11 <Ampera> grab the fucker and smash it to the ground
09:54:17 <Halcyon> Hey, it's not the size of it Ampera :P
09:54:19 <Ampera> punt it like a fucking football
09:54:21 <Halcyon> Fucking size queen
09:54:33 <Ampera> bigger dicks are always better
09:54:36 <Halcyon> It's about the size of a small cat
09:54:37 <Ampera> just like bigger tits
09:54:39 <Ampera> and bigger ass
09:54:43 <Halcyon> Or a large kitten
09:55:03 <Halcyon> But the wingspan is pretty big.
09:55:10 <Halcyon> Nah, smaller pert ass is better
09:55:20 <Ampera> I think I'll pastebin my code to show what I've done
09:56:39 <T3sl4> Ampera, Great Tits
09:56:41 * steve30 paws Halcyon
09:56:46 * Halcyon throws Ampera's code in the pastebin, where it belongs
09:56:47 <Ampera> https://pastebin.com/KMULmDE2 T3sl4 Halcyon, if you two are interested
09:57:09 <Halcyon> It looks nice, means nothing to me
09:57:14 <T3sl4> yay
09:57:16 <Halcyon> Oooh buff :P
09:57:51 * steve30 doesn't C
09:58:55 <MrMobodies> The white bird looks like a parrot.
09:59:24 <rust_collector> probably tastes like parrot
09:59:31 <MrMobodies> Enormous beak
10:00:18 <Halcyon> MrMobodies: Cockatoo is a type of parrot
10:00:44 <Halcyon> But yes, their beak is uber strong, they will chew a wooden house to bits
10:00:52 <Ampera> Halcyon, it's incredibly complicated
10:00:56 <rust_collector> heh, I think it sort of look like a bird
10:01:03 <Halcyon> Sort of, rust_collector
10:01:12 <MrMobodies> i know some can talk and sing
10:01:14 <MrMobodies> and swear
10:01:29 <Halcyon> Oh they are very smart, like most parrots. They can be assholes too.
10:01:52 <Ampera> but I now need to go even more complicated
10:02:06 <Halcyon> Steve: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRQebpwoOg8
10:03:51 <MrMobodies> Cat trying to ignore it hoping it will stop.
10:04:46 <MrMobodies> What does your pastebin script do?
10:05:03 <MrMobodies> It looks interesting like memory related stuff.
10:05:04 <Halcyon> Opens a portal to kell
10:05:05 <Halcyon> hell
10:05:32 <rust_collector> why would you want that? just get on a plane?
10:06:07 <Ampera> MrMobodies, it's the beginnings of a C text buffer
10:06:09 <DHess_US> *headdesk* https://i.redd.it/0oc3wzqiql841.jpg
10:06:28 <Ampera> if you know programming jargon I want a function managed dynamic array of dynamic cstrings
10:06:45 <Ampera> and to make it efficient, lightweight, and fast.
10:07:04 <Ampera> it's kind of like a map of strings in a higher level language
10:07:33 <Ampera> but I'm at the sort of bullshit level where I have a triple pointer and I need it
10:08:04 <MrMobodies> sorry I know little
10:08:51 <MrMobodies> I will copy your text and try and learn a bit.
10:09:29 <MrMobodies> It's nice to be able to learn from others or show their work.
10:09:35 <Ampera> I've wanted to make my own text editor for a while, but I am lazy and stupid.
10:09:57 <steve30> Halcyon, that cockatoo looks a bit flamboyant compared to the cat
10:10:08 <MrMobodies> Designed a great bot... I don't think you're stupid.
10:10:09 <Halcyon> Flamoyant?
10:10:15 <Halcyon> Flamboyant even?
10:10:28 <MrMobodies> That eevblog one that repeats, like a parrot, his twitter posts.
10:10:46 <Halcyon> MrMobodies: Yep, Ampera did a great job on that one.
10:10:57 <rust_collector> hello, MrMobodies let me see if the boot thing does its thing
10:10:59 <Halcyon> I think it add something to IRC, rather than just being another chat client
10:10:59 <steve30> Like its wearing a silly hat :)
10:11:13 <rust_collector> nah, why doesn't it say hello?
10:11:14 <MrMobodies> Everything he does we can learn from... so it'll be like a privilege.
10:11:26 <Ampera> I'm still working on the eevbot, debating how I want to implement message response AI
10:11:41 <steve30> hehe, I like how it tries to nibble on the kitty :)
10:11:41 <Ampera> EEVBlog, hello
10:11:41 <EEVBlog> Hello there, Ampera!
10:11:47 <Ampera> the bot does say hello
10:11:57 <MrMobodies> Hello eevblog
10:11:58 <Halcyon> steve30: Yeh they are sulphur-crested cockatoos, super common here. You can get all sorts like Umbrella cockatoo and even black ones (they are gorgeous but quite timid)
10:12:07 <Ampera> but it just works on a set of predone commands, some of them run on random payload
10:12:09 <rust_collector> yeah, but it used to say hello, when I said hello to someone else
10:12:13 <Ampera> hi
10:12:15 <Ampera> hi
10:12:17 <Ampera> hi
10:12:19 <Ampera> hi
10:12:21 <Ampera> hi
10:12:23 <Ampera> er
10:12:27 <steve30> hello
10:12:29 <Ampera> something does it at random
10:12:30 * Halcyon kicks Ampera for spamming :P
10:12:31 <Ampera> hi.
10:12:33 <Ampera> hi.
10:12:34 <EEVBlog> hi.
10:12:35 <Ampera> hi.
10:12:37 <Ampera> there
10:12:38 <Halcyon> There we go
10:12:38 <MrMobodies> I see it triggers
10:12:48 * steve30 nibbles on Halcyon
10:13:00 <MrMobodies> hi
10:13:01 <MrMobodies> hi
10:13:02 <MrMobodies> hi
10:13:03 <MrMobodies> hi
10:13:15 <MrMobodies> oh it only responds to you on that
10:13:17 <Ampera> needs to have a period at the end
10:13:23 <Halcyon> There is a lady in the US who has an Umbrella cockatoo as a pet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnoVxxeWohk
10:13:24 <MrMobodies> hi.
10:13:26 <MrMobodies> hi.
10:13:29 <MrMobodies> hi.
10:13:30 <MrMobodies> hi.
10:13:30 <EEVBlog> hi.
10:13:35 <MrMobodies> Wonderful

10:14:00 <MrMobodies> test.
10:14:01 <MrMobodies> test.
10:14:02 <MrMobodies> test.
10:14:04 <MrMobodies> test.
10:14:06 <Ampera> doesn't do that
10:14:13 <Ampera> EEVBlog, fuck you
10:14:14 <EEVBlog> If you keep saying that, I'm gonna hold you upside down and shake you until all the electrons fall out, Ampera!
10:14:31 <MrMobodies> I like that one.
10:14:43 <Halcyon> eevblog time
10:14:44 <EEVBlog> Ah shoot, Doc! We've ended up at 10:14 Sydney time.
10:14:47 <Halcyon> That's my favourite
10:14:54 <Halcyon> Shows you the time in Dave's timezone
10:15:34 <Ampera> EEVBlog debug and version
10:15:34 <EEVBlog> EEVBot Version 2.1, uptime: 74283 seconds.
10:15:45 <Halcyon> I should put pants on
10:15:51 <Ampera> 2.1 now implements fixed rt stuff which has yet to be demonstrated
10:16:14 <MrMobodies> I see a new video on bushfires.
10:16:24 <MrMobodies> I'll make some coffee... to sober up.
10:16:43 <steve30> I should probably go to bed soon
10:16:49 <Halcyon> Yeh today is going to be fucking hot. Up to 35 degrees in the Sydney CBD and 46 in the west of Sydney
10:17:09 <rust_collector> Ampera, I don't know if this will help you, but I guess it might have a few ideas for you?
10:17:12 <rust_collector> https://github.com/dcat/she
10:17:32 <Ampera> oh that's neat
10:17:54 <Halcyon> Hey Ampera, I do have an idea for a project which I've been meaning to try and make but I'm no good at programming
10:17:56 <Ampera> my goal atm is to write a text editor with zero dependencies
10:18:10 <Ampera> and for it to be curses-based, but with my own implementation of curses
10:18:37 <Ampera> the plan is to make a TUI editor that works as good as a GUI editor, including full cursor supprot
10:18:40 <Ampera> *support
10:19:34 <rust_collector> ok, let me know when I can test this thing
10:19:47 <rust_collector> Just not on sunday
10:19:47 * steve30 gives Halcyon some good night purrs and goes to bed
10:19:50 <Ampera> I had a half-working prototype in C++.
10:19:56 <Ampera> Halcyon, what's your idea
10:22:10 <Ampera> https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/310478241989263371/415423713950040064/Screenshot_427.png
10:22:13 Quit: AndrevS ([email protected]) Quit: Leaving
10:22:27 <Ampera> wasn't able to find a screenshot of ATE, but I did find this, which was another abandoned project
10:22:32 <Ampera> I just shared because the UI looks cool
10:22:37 <Ampera> and is actually programmed in C
10:24:59 <Halcyon> Ampera: I'd like to create a "dashboard" (think of a simplistic representation of the Apollo computer) where you can configure each square to be an indicator. Basically what the program does is continually listen out for Bluetooth or WiFi beacons and based off the MAC address of that beacon determines whether a specific device is in range or not and light up a little light.
10:25:53 <Ampera> so if it can talk to a bluetooth or 802.11 radio, it lights up?
10:26:21 <Halcyon> It doesn't need to talk to the device, it just needs to listen out for beacons being sent from devices (primarily phones)
10:26:48 <Halcyon> So basically just scan each channel at set intervals and filter through a list of MAC addresses defined by the user
10:26:56 <Ampera> that's a simple enough thing, but the issue is I have no clue how to do phone apps
10:26:58 <Ampera> never done one
10:27:12 <Halcyon> No, a Linux app, to run on a RPi or similar
10:27:19 <Ampera> I might be able to do it for GNU devices, but I have a pile of projects I need to work on
10:27:43 <Ampera> I'd probably implement it quick and dirty in Java like eevbot
10:28:20 <Halcyon> It was just an idea
10:29:19 <MrMobodies> Basic IDE compiler built by Ampera.
10:29:24 <Ampera> Yeah that's fine, my only issue is that I'd rather spend what little programming effort I have on my own projects
10:29:52 <Ampera> MrMobodies, it was intended to be an Assembly IDE for DOS
10:30:02 <Ampera> with a lot of ambitious ideas that probably would have never worked
10:30:43 <MrMobodies> it looks like a good effort.
10:32:12 <MrMobodies> Thunderf00t spoke of murky skies
10:32:24 <MrMobodies> but I see it in Dave eevblog2 video
10:32:26 <MrMobodies> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZa4X_C2uKI
10:32:39 <MrMobodies> from the bushfires
10:32:48 <MrMobodies> oh soryr no
10:33:48 <Halcyon> Thats fine Ampera, I was just thinking of something in case you were looking for something to do
10:35:38 <Ampera> MrMobodies, this is what ATE looked like https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/310478241989263371/662801153066532944/Screenshot_31.png
10:35:55 <Ampera> but I'm doing a rewrite in C and with my own terminal graphics engine
10:36:51 <MrMobodies> to display graphics? that sounds good.
10:37:05 <MrMobodies> remote graphics?
10:37:31 <Ampera> MrMobodies, TUI graphics
10:37:43 <Ampera> usable over SSH or locally
10:37:52 <Ampera> I also intend to implement sixel support for a graphical UI
10:39:08 <MrMobodies> that sounds like fun when you get it working.
10:41:54 <MrMobodies> I am nearly finished with the KVM switch thing, I have a VPN router I am going prepare with a static IP, I have a laptop and later you can all test it.
10:42:36 <MrMobodies> *laptop for the convenience of remote access.
10:49:46 <MrMobodies> Going to put my chicken on.

11:16:38 <AustUser> Do you think the Antenna Effect can be measured/Observed with test equipment?
11:17:58 <Halcyon> Thanks Ampera
11:18:08 <Halcyon> Mmm, sounds like a T3sl4 question
11:18:16 <Ampera> hi Halcyon
11:18:21 <Halcyon> Hey
11:18:34 <Ampera> how do
11:18:39 <Halcyon> Moist
11:18:44 <Halcyon> (Just had a shower)
11:18:50 <Ampera> ah
11:18:55 * Ampera throws a towel at Halcyon
11:19:00 <Ampera> get un-moist please
11:19:19 <Halcyon> I'm towel dry, but my hair is still a bit wet, I'm waiting for it to dry a little more before I can put product in it
11:19:56 * Ampera pours bacon grease directly into Halcyon's hair
11:20:06 * Halcyon hisses
11:20:25 <Ampera> you would, particularly after I dip you head first into a deep fryer
11:20:45 <Halcyon> Fucking American's, always with the deep fry
11:20:54 <Halcyon> :P
11:21:11 <Ampera> that's how I want to die, being deep fried
11:21:18 <Halcyon> Ew
11:21:44 <AustUser> just a greasy shell curd for me
11:21:52 <Ampera> that's some sort of career-ending discrimination, but I can't recall just what sort it is
11:22:23 <Ampera> AustUser, I suggest you look at the forums for help, while we're not against helping people, we tend to do more random chat than be a support hotline
11:22:24 <Halcyon> I'm making burgers tonight, probably should go shopping before the butcher closes
11:22:31 * Ampera butchers Halcyon
11:22:42 <Halcyon> AustUser, that and because Ampera is a dumbass :P
11:22:50 <AustUser> yeet
11:23:19 <Halcyon> In all seriousness, there are clever people around, like T3sl4 and coppice_ but they are in a different time zone
11:23:20 <Ampera> I'm more intelligent than you, Halcyon.
11:23:41 <Ampera> you're at the bottom of this totem pole
11:23:43 <Halcyon> Shit, when did that happen?
11:23:44 <AustUser> Measuring the antenna effect what a gorblimey q
11:24:01 * Halcyon isn't an EE

11:33:04 <artictusk> I put a linux Distro onto the pi4 last week and really struggled with the GQRX software
11:40:38 <EEVBlog> New EEVBlog Tweet: In Melbourne for 10 min and already spotted by a viewer.
11:56:00 <MrMobodies> I saw that Walkie talk last night
11:56:08 <MrMobodies> I enjoyed it comparing all three.
11:57:55 <MrMobodies> Ampera an "animated user"? with the bot and showing his work. I think you're the biggest asset where I can learn a thing or two.
11:58:18 <Ampera> lol

11:58:51 <Ampera> but if you want questions answered, I'm always willing to try
11:58:55 <MrMobodies> You doing a damn good job of it. You make it fun.
11:59:02 <MrMobodies> and that's how I learn.
11:59:29 <MrMobodies> thank you
11:59:37 <Ampera> I find the best way to learn is to take something that someone else says you can't do and then try to doit

12:52:33 <MrMobodies> I know of a glitch somewhere with Dhcp on pfSense 2.1.5 which doesn't seem to work on an interface that has just been assigned until reboot.
12:56:24 * Halcyon nibbles on Ampera
12:57:51 <Halcyon> MrMobodies: Why you still running an old version?
12:58:38 <Halcyon> You're 29 releases behind
12:58:48 <Halcyon> 2.5.0 is due out real soon
13:05:13 <MrMobodies> I am just familiar with it but I was another machine ontop
13:05:27 <MrMobodies> which has the same network cards with the latest or last 32bit platform
13:05:37 <MrMobodies> I might try the 64bit one and get it working the same
13:05:51 <MrMobodies> I like things to stay the same but it is due for a change over this year
13:06:03 <MrMobodies> It has been working since mid 2015
13:06:33 <Halcyon> It's pfSense, of course it has been :P
13:07:22 <MrMobodies> 4 Acenbic Alteons (2 wans 2 lans) 1 quad port pt (4G modem, lan 3, vpns and lan4 (dmz), 1 oneboard for management.
13:08:05 <Halcyon> You should still be able to update to a later version eve on a 32 bit CPU, you won't be able to run the latest, but certainly one later than 2.1.5
13:08:16 <Halcyon> (At least to the end of 2.3?)
13:08:54 <MrMobodies> well I when I get the network working perfect, I'll switch the other one on, which I will wire in parallel
13:09:41 <MrMobodies> I am lazy in that respect, set something up, leave it for years until there is a problem or some fix I need and change it.
13:10:12 <MrMobodies> The other is a dual core, but I'll put some more ram
13:11:53 <MrMobodies> These is something strange happening
13:12:15 <MrMobodies> in my port forwarding, someone from Australia is very interested in me. 103.108.228.248
13:12:54 <MrMobodies> Australia Hobart Alpha Layer Pty Ltd
13:13:12 <Halcyon> Looks like some kind of data centre or hosting company
13:13:19 <Halcyon> Probably one of their customers has an unpatched server
13:15:09 <MrMobodies> now they're targetting from a range of ports to port 4444
13:16:59 <MrMobodies> Actually, it is my eight that is being targetted so I think it is random.
13:17:33 <MrMobodies> 8 static ip's
13:19:10 <Halcyon> Yeh just sounds like they are taking stabs in the dark
13:24:49 <MrMobodies> I like how you put it.
13:24:56 <MrMobodies> Just going to do some washing.
13:32:16 <Halcyon> You can always just block that IP at your firewall and basically just have any requests fall into a black hole
13:44:33 <MrMobodies> I blocked them on a block list in Alias
13:44:55 <MrMobodies> just incase they find an open port
13:45:57 <MrMobodies> Actually just checked... no open ports for them unless I add them to another list.
13:46:13 <Halcyon> You haven't exposed your pfSense box out to the internet have you?
13:46:35 <MrMobodies> No it is just on the firewall logs
13:46:41 <Halcyon> Cool
13:46:48 <MrMobodies> blocked attempts but there is nothing on the tables
13:49:01 <Halcyon> I need up upgrade my firewall at some point, I'm running the latest version of pfSense but the CPU in it doesn't support AES-NI
13:49:09 <Halcyon> But it was free so meh
13:50:28 <MrMobodies> mine don't either just an Xeon 2.5GHz and other one
13:50:47 <Halcyon> It comes in handy for encryption over VPN tunnels
13:51:11 <MrMobodies> Oh yes which is why I divert traffic to separate vpn routers
13:53:23 <MrMobodies> Got to look for a board with 4x 32/64bit pci for those alteons unless I fin a driver to work the HP375t Netxen NX3031 which seems another good performer.
13:53:38 <MrMobodies> One that will support an AES-NI cpu
13:54:31 * Ampera sneezes at Halcyon one last time
13:55:01 <Halcyon> Why one last time?
13:55:07 <Ampera> you know why
13:55:15 <Halcyon> You're going to bed?
13:55:22 <Ampera> of a sort
13:55:27 <Halcyon> *hugs*
13:55:47 <Ampera> nah, because somehow my eyes stopped being irritato and my nose has stopped sneezing
13:55:55 <Halcyon> \o/

13:56:16 <Ampera> no the thing is I have a track record of being allergic to connecticut
13:57:18 <Ampera> Every time I use my surface pro 3 it always impresses me how much it can do
13:57:19 <Halcyon> I'm going to go wee, then make burger mince
13:57:37 <Ampera> but you'll miss my winging on about being sad
14:13:15 <Halcyon> I will
14:14:00 <Halcyon> You'll have to make me a mix of you complaining and carrying on so I can listen to it :P
14:15:31 <Ampera> :P :)
14:23:07 <Halcyon> It needs to be at least 1 hour long so I can listen to it to/from work
14:24:24 * Ampera hugs and chugs Halcyon
14:24:33 <Ampera> I have a grey guy on my bed
14:25:16 <Halcyon> Minou!
14:25:41 <Ampera> yee
14:25:41 * Halcyon places a cockatoo beside Minou and Ampera
14:25:44 <Halcyon> *popcorns*
14:26:24 <Halcyon> It will be so hot out there for the poor birds, I might go throw the sprinkler on for them

15:19:49 <Halcyon> Great, now I have The Time Warp stuck in my head

17:46:12 <Halcyon> Also it's still hot outside, probably about 35 C
17:46:17 <Ampera> you're one of those weird people who buy a house to "entertain" and then actually do it
17:46:24 <Halcyon> Yes
17:46:28 <Ampera> It's raining out over here
17:46:35 <Ampera> Beautiful New England weather
17:46:37 <Halcyon> My kitchen is purposely built to entertain people, as is the living room and the deck
17:46:46 <Halcyon> We could do with some of that here Ampera
17:46:57 <Ampera> There's no Entertainer without a good o'l honky tonk.
17:47:04 <Halcyon> People love sitting on my deck
