01:08:49 <Ampera> Good evening, Kuschelpony
01:10:36 <K> ponneh
01:10:49 <Kuschelpony> Hello Ampera, how is (or was) your day?
01:11:11 <Ampera> It's before midday here, and it's going alright so far
01:11:19 <Ampera> I get my second pfizer dose in a few hours
01:11:30 <Kuschelpony> oh great!
01:11:46 <Kuschelpony> im still waiting for the first one but probably in not distant future
01:11:59 <Ampera> Is Germany finally getting their shit into gear?
01:14:34 <Kuschelpony> i prefer to answer this after i know it better...
01:14:49 <Kuschelpony> myself i got re-priotisised
01:14:50 <K> from what i understand, europe did not have vaccines, that why no gear
01:15:07 <K> i.e astra zeneca fisaco
01:15:12 <K> fififisisfisjdfi
01:15:13 <K> fiasco
01:15:32 <Ampera> They should have been able to make tons of pfizer like we did though
01:15:36 <Kuschelpony> they slowly change the priotisazion to something where people who have important jobs and/or need to be around and meet other people are non longer in the 4th group
01:15:51 <Ampera> the story I heard is the EU was given the job of buying the vaccines for everyone, and tried to lowball everyone
01:16:19 <Ampera> so the vaccine companies went to places that spent more, like the US, which is starting to have weimar-tier spending problems
01:16:40 <K> prolly has some truth to it
01:16:40 <Kuschelpony> ampera, they just adapted these mantras of lean production, just in time, and such, so they ordered only little vaccination doses and planned to oder further again and again
01:17:13 <Kuschelpony> the usa just made one big order ang got priority by the manufacturers
01:17:18 <Ampera> Worked great for eMachines, not so much for people I guess
01:17:53 <Kuschelpony> yup
01:19:51 <Ampera> The news is spelling doom and gloom for our vaccination campaigns, saying we're all stalling at 50-60% of the adult pop with a shot
01:20:39 <Kuschelpony> hmm, no idea
01:20:56 <Ampera> Everyone says it's antivaxxers, but I think it's like the old saying of don't attribute to malice what can be attributed to laziness/incompetence
01:21:08 <Ampera> I think most people can't be fucked
01:22:07 <Ampera> I think a lot of people have valid concerns, and it shows in how many medical professionals (they say) are turning them down
01:23:58 <Kuschelpony> i have no idea if anti-vaxxers are so widespread or just so mobile and vocal to be seen everywhere
01:24:27 <T3sl4> i was a bit taken aback by how few people were at the vax clinic when i went, dunno what their attendance has been like since then but there was like half a dozen people there at the time, and the city is like 30k pop
01:24:27 <Kuschelpony> in the people i know, there are zero of them anywhere, we all either wait for the vaccination oir desperately wait
01:25:17 <T3sl4> it's a good chance that antivax in this country is the same 40% of the population that thinks nazis are people too
01:25:26 <Ampera> I know they exist, but I don't know how many people there are, and ultimately it's hard to tell, because it's a personal view, not necessarily a demographic
01:26:01 <Ampera> https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/542853460157136896/730134494752800839/D9sOvAXWwAAN7Jt.png
01:27:35 <Ampera> Isn't generalizing and then dehumanizing your enemy Step 1 and 2 in the extremist politics handbook?
01:28:18 <rust_collector> eeh, I think it is polytics in general
01:29:02 <T3sl4> Ampera: actually it's quite easy to tell, it's by and large the 40% right wing authoritarians
01:29:17 <Kuschelpony> weird, i am currently browsing more around Ebay Kleinanzeigen and it looks like some things are generally sold secondhand and worn for similar prices like new, trying to pass them as collectibles
01:29:37 <T3sl4> if you're reading that as bait i'm sorry to hear that
01:29:54 <Kuschelpony> hmm?
01:29:57 <K> Kuschelpony maybe some money laundering?
01:30:04 <T3sl4> Ampera ^
01:30:10 <Ampera> Do you live near the water? Take a stroll by the coastline and see if fish start launching themselves at you
01:30:28 <K> fisches!
01:30:37 <T3sl4> hello carps
01:30:41 <T3sl4> karps? damn
01:31:06 <Kuschelpony> i think its just a different cultural circle, where things like a suit can drastically increase in value if it has been worn at some event and perhaps got the right kind of dirt or personal signature, compared to just somethign useful as work overall
01:31:16 <Ampera> Then give me some, because fresh fish sounds pretty good right now
01:31:46 <Ampera> Kuschelpony, ebay pricing can be really weird. New things can sell for more there than on Amazon
01:32:02 <Ampera> sometimes even used things, like gigabit switches, cost way more on ebay and are way sketchier, than a name brand switch off Amazon
01:32:09 <T3sl4> true story, i was walking along the bluffs here the other day, didn't see any fish, but saw a few million mayflies either sunning/hydrating themselves on the sand, or mostly drying out and dying like the stupid mayflies they are
01:32:26 <rust_collector> It looks like everything is a bit more on ebay now, then it usually has been... not sure, but it looks like it, to me
01:33:10 <Kuschelpony> thats Ebay Kleinanzeigen, in germany they have this classifieds part split off of main ebay, the latter beeing basically a shop like amazon
01:33:22 <Kuschelpony> i have not yet signed up but it looks not that interesting
01:34:15 <rust_collector> oh, yes. that thing. I have seen that.
01:34:26 <rust_collector> I just think ebay, lol
01:34:31 <T3sl4> the thing for seeing. the seeing thing.
01:51:43 <K> the seaing thing.
01:51:54 <K> what does the fish do?
01:51:58 <K> the fish seas!
01:52:08 <T3sl4> kiss my bass
01:52:09 <K> makes prefect sense.

01:57:59 <eevBot> [Title] - This sorbet comes in fruit rinds for cups. : mildlyinteresting
02:00:06 <Lemon> rust_collector yes im here
02:00:18 <Lemon> sorry I napped then the guy for solar installation came
02:00:38 <Lemon> it makes me sad to know that my mother gonna pay like 3-4 times what it would cost to build it myself
02:00:44 <Lemon> but sadly in france its not possible
02:00:50 <Lemon> not legal, no insurrance etc
02:00:53 <Lemon> so she doesnt want to
02:01:42 <T3sl4> yike
02:02:32 <Lemon> 1.2k euros per kwh of battery for example
02:02:39 <Lemon> thats a lot
02:02:59 <Lemon> solar pannel I forgot the price, they are german built etc so great but expensive too
02:03:45 <T3sl4> can't say i'd be the most comfortable sitting my own hand assembled battery in a dusty corner for years at a time, tbh
02:04:52 <Lemon> well not necessarly the shadiest thing ever, but some good lifepo4 batteries, a "high-endish" bms, same for the inverter etc and bam
02:05:00 <Lemon> in a metal cabinet, closed
02:05:08 <Ampera> For me it'd depend on what one means by hand assembled battery
02:05:11 <Lemon> I wouldnt do that with salvaged batteries like some lol
02:05:21 <Lemon> and yeah I wouldnt assamble it with 18650 either
02:05:31 <Lemon> only big lifepo4 with screwed on tabs
02:05:45 <Ampera> though lead acid batteries are still fairly easy to put together, and don't go /as/ explosively wrong as lithium tech, so long as you keep into account hydrogen discharge
02:05:50 <T3sl4> yeah, doing it with commercial parts, less sketch
02:06:06 <T3sl4> batteries that big aren't cheap either tho
02:06:16 <Ampera> Why you'd use lithium batteries for a home supply, I don't know
02:06:27 <Ampera> They're getting cheaper, but they aren't lead acid cheap
02:06:36 <K> less space?
02:06:39 <rust_collector> oh, overcharged lead acid does hurt your face, if there is a spark somewhere. I don't think lithium would be much worse
02:07:19 <Ampera> K, lead acid batteries are big, but they aren't take up your entire house big
02:07:28 <Ampera> the energy densities you can get with them can still be quite impressive
02:07:46 <rust_collector> nah, they are just heavy, which is why it makes sense in a house
02:07:52 <Ampera> Hydrogen discharge might be the one reason I wouldn't want those in my house unventilated
02:08:14 <Lemon> lifepo4 cant catch fire/explode
02:08:17 <Lemon> thats also why I'd use that
02:08:19 <T3sl4> lead acid isn't very dense, you'll fill your garage with them
02:08:22 <Ampera> of course it can
02:08:28 <Ampera> it's just not as good at it as liion/lipo tech
02:08:44 <Lemon> I think it just smokes
02:08:56 <Lemon> but wont burst in flames like lipos
02:09:05 <Ampera> Anything with a high stored energy density can cause a fire, even if it's just from shorting out
02:09:09 <rust_collector> lifepo is not bad.
02:09:26 <T3sl4> there's also the nano titanate whatever thing it is, newer, supposed to be more reliable, more about fast charge rate tho, and still pretty expensive
02:09:31 <Ampera> Liion tech is bad because the electrolyte used is highly flammable, bordering on explosive
02:09:59 <Ampera> I know lead acid tech isn't as dense as liion, but I can't imagine them being so bad that you'd have to fill a room to get a few kwh
02:10:05 <rust_collector> but I still don't think I would bother with fancy batteries, unless you have a huge system
02:10:38 <Lemon> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qzt9RZ0FQyM
02:10:38 <eevBot> [Title] - Youtube: Dangerous vs. Safe batteries, Explosion and fire test!
02:10:45 <Lemon> thats the most that will happen
02:10:59 <Lemon> but lead acid batteries are no fun if it is caught in a fire
02:11:09 <T3sl4> hm, what is it anyway, a car battery is 12V and about 50Ah, so 600Wh? then a stack of four is 2.4kWh
02:11:31 <T3sl4> though you need to double that cuz car batts aren't deep cycle
02:11:31 <Ampera> https://www.homedepot.com/p/308914703
02:11:48 <Ampera> As an example, this is 100Ah (halve that because going below about half will kill it)
02:11:52 <Lemon> in a house I'd take the safest
02:11:54 <rust_collector> fire is not the big problem with them, they just melt, most of the time, unless they are charged or discharged pretty hard
02:11:59 <Lemon> anything besides that it would depend
02:12:30 <Lemon> but lets be honest, with a bms, fuses, and some maintenance, AND the extra security of lifepo4 batteries
02:12:31 <Ampera> They're not tiny, but that's 600Wh, keep a shelf of them and you can get maybe a dozen kwh of charge
02:12:33 <Lemon> you're pretty safe
02:13:58 <Lemon> anyway
02:14:02 <Lemon> rusty you wanted to say something ?
02:14:05 <Lemon> I saw you tagged me earlier
02:14:24 <Ampera> afaik SLA's also tend to be less aggressive with hydrogen discharge (though they still do that)
02:14:42 <rust_collector> well, I always want to say something, but I think it is safer to keep quiet some times
02:14:43 <Ampera> Might be something you'd want to put in an outside cabinet with weatherproofed ventilation
02:14:56 <Ampera> rust_collector, that's one of the best lessons anyone can learn
02:14:57 <T3sl4> i forget if AGM/SLA/gel cell ever have catalysts, or they're just sneakily vented to atmosphere
02:14:59 <Ampera> learn when to shut up
02:15:35 <Ampera> I imagine it varies, and is hopefully listed on a spec/safety sheet somewhere
02:16:28 <rust_collector> T3sl4 they can have a sort of expansion chamber, and some also has a bung you can put a hose on, so it depends, as usual
02:17:38 <rust_collector> so, Lemon what did I want to say?
02:17:48 <T3sl4> the last SLA i had, i cracked open the cover and it has rubber nipples over the cells, they burp as they outgas, fairly safeish
02:17:55 <Lemon> "you bought that stripper tool yet ?"
02:17:57 <Lemon> :P
02:18:02 <rust_collector> oh, ok,
02:18:13 <rust_collector> well?
02:18:19 <Lemon> im looking around of things I need and yeah I think I will take the 60 euros model
02:18:30 <Lemon> decently priced, good reviews, you can adjust lengh/depth
02:18:33 <Lemon> thats what I wanted
02:18:35 <rust_collector> but you need the crimping ones too
02:18:47 <Lemon> yeah im looking around for it but 90 is a lot for that
02:18:53 <Lemon> as I wont use it as much as the stripper one
02:19:01 <rust_collector> sure, but it will last forever
02:19:06 <Lemon> I dont mind spending a lot on good tools but only if I use them a lot
02:19:09 <Lemon> yeah for sure
02:19:21 <Lemon> I found it for 55 delivered second hand
02:19:26 <Lemon> but I still dont know, we'll see
02:19:49 <Lemon> I remember Ysjoelfir told me about Kontakt brand, for cleaning various test gear things
02:19:55 <Lemon> like jacks, or various contacts
02:20:07 <Ampera> T3sl4, yeah but if you have an entire cabinet of them inside a house with little airflow, right next to a lot of potential energy
02:20:18 <Ampera> it'd be at the very least my primary concern
02:20:50 <rust_collector> just put them outside... just don't discharge them too much when it is super cold
02:20:54 <T3sl4> hydrogen diffuses quickly, it's fine in a vented cabinet
02:21:04 <T3sl4> a sealed cabinet would be playing yourself
02:21:37 * Ampera plays with T3sl4's self
02:22:37 <T3sl4> don't toucha the amp!

02:24:37 <rust_collector> Ysjoelfir did you stop playing with the site?
02:25:06 <T3sl4> Halcyon: don't snack on the neutronium, no matter how delicious it looks https://i.redd.it/xvge7jr9g9x61.png
02:38:09 <Ysjoelfir> rust_collector, I stopped for the moment, but I added quite some stuff alreadz.
02:38:25 <rust_collector> ok
02:38:54 <Ysjoelfir> and I was switching the kezboard lazout between english and german constantly, which results in quite some nice y and z mishaps.
02:39:43 <Ysjoelfir> in other words, the index, contact and )english= references (main) sites should be working.
02:41:59 * T3sl4 hugs Zsjoelfir
02:42:26 <Ampera> Ysjoelfir, it's the german layout a superset of the english one?
02:42:29 <Ampera> why not just use the german one

02:43:38 <Nothing\> what's in it?
02:43:42 <Ampera> pfizer vax
02:44:15 <Nothing\> heh i've decided even if i COULD get vaccinated, which I can't because of age restrictions, i'm going to wait until the government gets their asses together
02:44:48 <Nothing\> cuz right now instead of the 21 day recommended wait between doses, canada's making people wait 4 months so they can give first doses to more people. Probably to pad their numbers of vaccinated people.
02:45:01 <Nothing\> amdist the vaccine shortage we're having
02:45:36 <Nothing\> hey Ampera, did you ever watch archer or arrested development?
02:45:40 <Ysjoelfir> -me hugs T3sl4 back :P
02:45:43 <Ysjoelfir> aaaargh
02:45:45 <Nothing\> i think i may have asked you this already, or maybe someone else

02:49:22 <eevBot> [Title] -
02:49:24 <Nothing\> there's no russian way to say the sound "th"
02:49:33 <Lemon> maybe you have a similar one, or know about it ?
02:49:37 <Nothing\> actually a lot of languages don't have a "th" sound
02:49:39 <Ampera> Nothing\, you do know that I read russian cyrillics, and I did not intend that to be understandable
02:50:00 <Nothing\> that's why with a lot of accents people will pronounce "th" sounds as "t"
02:50:08 <Ampera> I typed straight into a russian layout keyboard (russian student layout actually) what I'd have typed in english
02:50:12 <Nothing\> Ampera, oh yeah, but i take any chance i can get to practice reading cyrillic
02:50:12 <T3sl4> :-Þ
02:50:20 <Ysjoelfir> ah yes, I have that one. it works great.
02:50:33 * Ampera breaks T3sl4's nose off, punches his thorn
02:50:35 <Nothing\> i actually found a russian/english dictionary here, but some of the translations are suspect
02:50:47 <Lemon> yeah ? you can adjust depth/lengh, which is what I want !
02:50:54 <Ysjoelfir> yep
02:51:00 <Nothing\> like the one translation claimed to say "you are a nice one to be sure" but translated into something like "you good"
02:51:01 <Lemon> I keep doing it with a lighter, so maybe its time to invest
02:51:09 <rust_collector> Ok, I should stop pinging your test site, maybe
02:51:09 <Ysjoelfir> you know what I hate?
02:51:12 <Nothing\> it was literally only 2 words of russian
02:51:16 <Lemon> ok so if you have it and like it, it makes me want it even more :>
02:51:17 <Lemon> no ?
02:51:35 <Ysjoelfir> now that I opened that link from frenchistan, my amazon is switched automatically to that stupid language again :P
02:51:41 <Nothing\> but the single word translations seem pretty on the ball
02:51:43 <Ysjoelfir> rust_collector, nah, have fun if you want :D
02:51:47 <Ampera> Нотхинг, йоу аре а преттй фарт смеллер.
02:51:53 <Lemon> ha yeah ? damn weird I keep openning links of other countries and it doesnt do that oO

02:52:38 <Lemon> how you guys do ?

02:52:47 <Nothing\> notkeeng ?oy are a prettee fart smeller
02:52:59 <Ysjoelfir> erm..... thats strange rust_collector :D thats not that many packets and still that much loss? I should tell my hoster.
02:53:03 <Lemon> isopropyl alc yes :>
02:53:04 <Ampera> that's not the transliteration of х
02:53:13 <Nothing\> or notcheeng, that K sound doesn't transliterate well into english
02:53:23 <Lemon> 1L doesnt seem too easy to use
02:53:27 <Ampera> in fact that was pretty inaccurate
02:53:35 <Lemon> maybe I can get a 100ml flexible bottle or something
02:53:36 <Nothing\> also Ampera the letter й is meant to augment the sound of other sounds
02:53:40 <Lemon> and refill it
02:53:42 <Ampera> no it's not
02:53:47 <Ampera> it's a letter in its own right
02:53:48 <Nothing\> so like oй is oy
02:53:56 <Nothing\> it is a letter yes
02:54:18 <Nothing\> but it's silent on its own, it's used to augment sounds, like hard sign and soft sign
02:54:30 <Ampera> I'd be willing to bet it's not
02:54:47 <Nothing\> Ampera, truthufully i've heard both
02:54:58 <Nothing\> that it makes its own sound and that it augments sounds
02:55:24 <Ampera> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Short_I
02:55:25 <eevBot> [Title] - Short I - Wikipedia
02:55:37 <Nothing\> but instead of й i usually just use the letter и
02:55:38 <Ampera> Well all letters in most alphabets augment the sounds of letters next to them
02:55:55 <Nothing\> not all, but a lot. This is true.
02:56:02 <Nothing\> anyways, i have some sweet potato fries to devour
02:56:02 <Ampera> however it's specifically the yuh sound
02:56:03 <Nothing\> brb
02:56:15 <Nothing\> ahh okay
02:56:16 <Ampera> ciao, I'll be heading to my vaccine appointment soon
02:56:30 <Nothing\> see i heard that, but in my russian dictionary, it says it's silent and only augments sounds
02:56:33 <Nothing\> which was confusing
02:56:42 <Nothing\> obviously this dictionary has some questionable content
02:56:56 <Nothing\> btw you want a link to a good russian tutorial?
02:57:03 <Ampera> no
02:57:05 <Nothing\> it's the one i've been going back to every so often for years
02:57:08 <Nothing\> fair enough
02:57:15 <Nothing\> alright, off to the yam sticks!
02:57:16 <Nothing\> bbiab
02:57:19 <Ampera> I rarely learn well through tutorials
02:57:52 <Nothing\> i learn best by watching then doing, but i've been getting better with watching then doing
02:58:01 <Nothing\> then retention is attained through constant practice
02:58:33 <Ampera> I learn through putting pieces together myself, and then practicing what I've constructed
03:15:23 <Nothing\> that makes sense
03:15:36 <Nothing\> so Ampera, did I tell you I bought a new single board computer?

03:18:10 <Nothing\> uses a variant of the same CPU as the SNES and some variation of the Apple ][ that I can never remembre
03:18:13 <Nothing\> se? maybe
03:18:32 <Nothing\> but best of all, it has an emulation mode where it can emulato a 6502
03:18:40 <Nothing\> so I get the best of both worlds-
03:19:22 <Nothing\> it even comes with a monitor and its own IDE proprietary to WDC
03:19:42 Join: TheDude ([email protected]) to #EEVblog
03:19:47 <Nothing\> i didn't realize though after exchange and shipping, it came to over $100
03:19:54 <Nothing\> which is a far cry from a $2 arduino
03:20:16 <Nothing\> but i got it more for education than anything. I hope one day to write my own programs for the NES or SNES
03:20:51 <Nothing\> plus I found out that the 65c02 I bought is basically useless without the supporting chipset.
03:21:05 <T3sl4> bet it can't run far cry
03:21:34 <Nothing\> it doesn't even have a XGA adaper
03:21:43 <Nothing\> or any video adapter
03:22:01 <Nothing\> i guess you could rig one up, but all graphics processing would be done through the cpu
03:22:30 <Nothing\> but with all of the perihperal port options, you could probably rig up some sort of video output
03:22:36 <Nothing\> interface
03:23:27 <T3sl4> those things aren't usually fast enough to bit bang any kind of useful video, you'll need a CRTC or other interface
03:23:45 <Nothing\> this is just the thing I've been looking for though. I started learning 6502 ASM through Skilldrick's Easy6502 tutorial. But once I found out it doesn't support interrupts I became disillusioned and gave up on it.
03:24:12 <Nothing\> T3sl4, well, the CMOS version is quite a bit faster than the NMOS version
03:24:19 <Nothing\> lemme see what speeds it's got here
03:24:53 <Nothing\> up to a blazing 14mhz
03:25:15 <T3sl4> how many cycles/instruction average?
03:25:22 <T3sl4> (MIPS/MHz)
03:25:45 <Nothing\> is this an actual video i can work out, or do i have to go trhough the instruction list and give an estimate?
03:25:57 <Nothing\> video/metric
03:26:30 <T3sl4> idunno, what's the spread?
03:27:00 <Nothing\> well i can't seem to loo it up on google
03:27:04 <T3sl4> like, offhand i recall Z80 is mostly 4 cyc/inst with some 3's and others 7, 8 ,11, 12, that sort of thing
03:27:09 <Nothing\> lemme peruse the instruction set and see
03:27:14 <T3sl4> so, it's close to 0.2 MIPS/MHz
03:28:49 <Nothing\> hrm i couldn't tell you, but i'd imagine it'd be close to the 6502
03:28:56 <Nothing\> it's basically just a 16 bit 6502-
03:31:04 <Nothing\> oh okay i found a chart on wiki that compares MIPS of various chips and systems from the days of yore
03:31:20 <Nothing\> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instructions_per_second#Timeline_of_instructions_per_second
03:31:21 <eevBot> [Title] - Instructions per second - Wikipedia
03:31:43 <Nothing\> 0.145 for the z80
03:31:55 <T3sl4> i recall seeing errors on that page, dunno if it's been updated lately
03:32:06 <Nothing\> 0.43 for the 6502
03:32:12 <Nothing\> but those are nmos versions
03:32:37 <T3sl4> oh here we go, p24 https://www.westerndesigncenter.com/wdc/documentation/w65c816s.pdf

03:32:45 <Nothing\> ah beauty
03:32:46 <T3sl4> from a link from your link
03:32:58 <Nothing\> i've been making my way through that datasheet slowly but haven't gotten too far into it yet
03:34:32 <Nothing\> i basically downoladed every datasheet for every chip on the SBC i bought and the SBC itself, and got a pdf of a programming manual for the 65c816 which was $40 on amazon, but free as a pdf from some site
03:34:33 <T3sl4> 2-8 with an average around 4 or so, plus some change for various conditions
03:35:23 <Nothing\> one of these days i'll read thorugh them. But I have a terrible habit of falling asleep within minutes of starting to read.
03:35:26 <Nothing\> it really sucks.
03:35:29 <T3sl4> and 8MHz, so let's say 2 MIPS if you code the inner loop carefully. could feed a shift register ala atari 2600, but good luck bit banging any kind of video via ports alone
03:36:31 <Nothing\> well it's got VIA, PIA and ACIA
03:36:37 <Nothing\> plus something called XBUS
03:36:58 <Nothing\> plus usb
03:37:24 <Nothing\> but i think that's maainly for uploading programs and power supply
03:38:09 <Nothing\> heh
03:38:26 <Nothing\> WDC even sells FPGAs ande FPGA devboards for a fair price
03:38:34 <Nothing\> like < $100
03:38:38 <T3sl4> heh, there's more transistors in the USB interface (PIO? UART?) than the rest of the board
03:39:46 <Nothing\> well, here's the short datasheet on the actual board I got: https://www.westerndesigncenter.com/wdc/documentation/W65C816SXB.pdf
03:39:47 <eevBot> [Title] - 403 Forbidden
03:39:58 <Nothing\> gives a basic rundown of what's included on it
03:40:08 <Nothing\> and various features
03:40:41 <Nothing\> hackaday had a lot o positive things to say about these computers
03:41:14 <Nothing\> USB FIFO, that's what it uses
03:42:52 <Nothing\> it's a lot smaller than i expected. From the pics, I woulda figured it was gonna be 20cm x 20cm but it's only half that size
03:43:51 <T3sl4> 20cm is about twice what i had guessed
03:44:11 <Nothing\> mechanical drawings say 10cm x 10cm
03:44:24 <Nothing\> so, probably about the size of a pi if it were square
03:44:51 <Nothing\> hahaha
03:45:23 <Nothing\> the core from that rocket that took china's core to their new space station to orbit is fall out of control and risks landing in a populated area
03:45:49 <Nothing\> they said as far south as new zealand, or as far north as ontario or upstate new york.
03:46:09 <Nothing\> that'd be cool, if he got hit with chinese space debris
03:46:18 <Nothing\> he=w
03:46:19 <Nothing\> e
03:46:59 <Nothing\> ah fuck i've gotta go to the dentist in an hour
03:47:04 <Nothing\> i should probably start getting ready
03:47:18 <Nothing\> got about my 15th root canal and a filling
03:47:19 <Nothing\> yay
03:47:35 <Nothing\> anyways, take care you yourself T3sl4. It's been nice talking.
03:47:40 <T3sl4> enjoy

05:03:07 <Lemon> hmmm the more I read, and the more I think its not necessary to use lugs for cables I want to make
05:03:21 <Lemon> actually some national labs are using wires, they just cut them when the tip is damaged
05:03:37 <Lemon> so its not worth it for me to spend a lot on lugs/crimping tool
05:04:14 <Lemon> I prefer to spend that money on something that will be more useful
05:04:52 <rust_collector> YOU said you would use them all the time, for all kinds of wires, from 0.00000000000000,1 to a million³ ²
05:06:00 <Lemon> stripping tool yes
05:06:08 <Lemon> not the crimping tool :>
05:06:16 <Lemon> hence why I dont want to spend too much on it
05:06:26 <Lemon> and in fact its not really necessary for now
05:06:52 <Lemon> I will get some nice copper/silver plated, shielded ptfe cable, it seems to be the best for what I want
05:07:01 <rust_collector> blah blah blah. you have looked at them now, and you will buy them sooner or later. just get it done
05:07:09 <Lemon> ofc 0.1ppm wont matter for me, but you know, its always nice to have
05:07:12 <Lemon> nahhh xD
05:07:18 <Lemon> stripping one yeah I want and will buy it
05:07:30 <Lemon> but 90 euros for a tool that I will use 1 hour, nah
05:07:49 <Lemon> im always weighting price/usefulness
05:07:53 <Lemon> before buying anything
05:07:55 <rust_collector> you can crimp a LOT of wires in an hour
05:08:06 <Lemon> heh yes but do I need them ?
05:08:28 <Lemon> instead I'll take some IPA, and kontakt 60-61 as Ysjoelfir said, I don't have any
05:09:04 <rust_collector> good idea
05:10:14 <Lemon> that little pcb holder seems nice too
05:10:20 <Lemon> im tired of the shitty ones I have
05:11:05 <Ysjoelfir> you should ask electrohead for some IPA
05:12:55 <Lemon> all good, amazon got me covered :>
05:13:13 <Lemon> I wonder the difference of a multi-stranded wire vs a single core one for voltage/resistance measurements
05:13:19 <Ysjoelfir> but his IPA probably tastes better. a lot better.
05:14:24 <Lemon> but I quited IPA a few years ago... terrible addiction

05:17:26 <Lemon> this kind of wire looks perfect for voltage measurement, and maybe 2 wire resistance too
05:18:59 <Lemon> thats true when you think about it, even the best low emf banana/spade/lug wont be as good as a direct connection, as you still need to wait for thermal equilibrium
05:19:17 <Lemon> which is good for the price aswell, no need to spend on them
05:20:14 <T3sl4> Halcyon: https://i.imgur.com/sdJiGtV.jpg
05:20:32 <Lemon> https://www.ebay.fr/itm/262521918004?hash=item3d1f869234:g:wM0AAOSw0kNXhadx also this type, I don't know which one is the best
05:20:33 <eevBot> [Title] - NEW OLD STOCK M17/S5.RG160 PTFE Silver blindé câble de signal fil 3 m | eBay
05:20:37 <Lemon> I read that twisted wire is preferable
05:21:46 <rust_collector> oh, silver or silver... hmmm
05:22:36 <rust_collector> twisted sister twisted sister
05:22:45 <rust_collector> twisted or stranded?
05:23:10 <Lemon> good question !
05:23:38 <rust_collector> you know you need all of them, right?
05:23:56 <Lemon> ive seen a soviet electrometer, guy said they are nowadays rare because lots of them were salvaged for precious metals, they contain about 12g of gold, same of silver, some palladium/platinum and sapphire insulators
05:24:00 <Lemon> nahhhh
05:24:57 <Lemon> why you always do this to me rusty :(
05:25:04 <rust_collector> yeeeessss. flexible or not, high frequency, or not? much current? maybe not? perhaps you need some better insulated stuff, for high voltage?
05:25:18 * electrohead offers many IPA's
05:26:04 <rust_collector> will you have signals going thru the wires? maybe they need to be twisted? or shielded, or... not?
05:26:31 <Lemon> I want test leads for voltage, resistance measurements, thats it :>
05:26:43 <rust_collector> we will see about that...
05:26:58 <rust_collector> ok, just buy some wire
05:27:06 <Lemon> so from what I read, ptfe insulation is nice, a single metal is best to avoid thermal emf, twisted is best for whatever reason, and here we go
05:27:24 <Lemon> I might get some mueller croco clips, for other purposes, the clips I have are utter shit
05:27:38 <Lemon> theres a lot scattered around the room as I throw them in anger all the time
05:27:42 <rust_collector> yeah, you can send those up here
05:27:57 <Lemon> well I doubt I'll throw them far enough but I can try

10:58:02 <flyback> hahaha
10:58:12 <flyback> I have a friend who got sucked into that shit
10:58:22 <flyback> I can't beat it out of his head with a sledgehammer
10:59:00 <flyback> then on the flip side I have a friend who bought a nice mini tube amp for his pc
10:59:03 <flyback> that I understand
11:00:14 <flyback> there's some logic to a tube amp having a different sound profile than say a all solid state one even if today they are pretty close
11:00:27 <flyback> but $5000 ether cards for better sound? wtf?
11:01:12 <flyback> not card

11:06:48 <flyback> im sure somewhere there are $5000 audio cables worth paying for

18:35:09 <Lemon> hmmm im scared of selling my gpu on ebay now
18:35:22 <Ysjoelfir> why
18:35:24 <Lemon> I thought "what if the guy say it doesnt work and ask for a refund"
18:35:34 <Lemon> ebay protect the buyer and not the seller
18:35:39 <Lemon> in 99.9% of the cases
18:35:46 <Ysjoelfir> thats correct
18:35:58 <Lemon> I got an offer at 450 right now
18:36:13 <Lemon> the guy got only 3 evaluations, but that means nothing as a buyer
18:36:20 <Lemon> I don't know what to do :/
18:41:43 <Lemon> if nobody bid on my listing, I can cancel it for free ?
18:43:19 <alfbaz> 450 euros? I know they have kept up a good price second hand but that much, or is it due to the gfx card shortage?
18:43:43 <Lemon> shortage yes
18:43:49 <alfbaz> ah ok
18:43:50 <Lemon> thats mostly why im selling it
18:43:55 <Lemon> too good to be passed
18:44:04 <Lemon> but shit if the guy pull a trick I'd be sad
18:44:08 <Lemon> and now im scared of that
18:49:32 <Halcyon> Hey guys
18:50:08 <Lemon> yo !
18:50:22 <Halcyon> Sup Lemon?
18:50:32 <Lemon> hehhh I have a dilema !
18:50:35 <Halcyon> Oh?
18:50:41 <Lemon> as you maybe know im selling my gtx 1080 on ebay
18:50:59 <Lemon> one guy just made me an offer at 450 euros, which is perfect (400 after taxes, double of what I paid 2 years ago)
18:51:05 <Lemon> but im scared of scams
18:51:11 <Lemon> as ebay protects the buyer
18:51:18 <Halcyon> Understandable
18:51:27 <Lemon> I asked the guy what he will do with it, he just answered me "I will use it for mining"
18:51:33 <Lemon> what do you think
18:51:39 <Halcyon> Well your dispute will be with Paypal more than likely, rather then ebay
18:51:39 <Lemon> its hard to say
18:51:50 <Lemon> yeah but how to prove anything ? :/
18:51:55 <Lemon> even videos arent working
18:52:10 <Halcyon> All you need to do is read the "Seller protection" policy and do what it says
18:52:28 <Lemon> yeah basically nothing
18:52:30 <Lemon> thats the issue
18:52:34 <Halcyon> Usually shipping receipt showing tracking number is enough, but for high value items, I photograph the box (inside and out)
18:52:55 <Lemon> im afraid he'll say "its dead" and send back a dead one
18:53:27 <Halcyon> Photograph the card itself, along with any serial numbers
18:53:39 <Halcyon> That way if it is "dead" and the card that comes back is different, you'll know
18:55:10 <Lemon> yeah I will do that
18:55:19 <Lemon> the guy got only 3 eval, all positive
18:55:23 <Lemon> but thats hard to say anyway
18:55:28 <Halcyon> Yeo
18:55:29 <Halcyon> Yep
18:58:24 <Lemon> im talking with the guy to see a bit what kind he is
18:58:33 <Lemon> thats unusual for me to sell on ebay
18:58:40 <Lemon> he said he got a 1060 and a 2060 in a mining rig
18:58:48 <Lemon> that sounds weird but those days people are buying everything
19:01:41 <Halcyon> Just be careful, as a buyer, I'd be put off a seller asking me questions.
19:01:50 <Lemon> yeah I know I know
19:02:01 <Lemon> not an issue if I lose this one
19:02:12 <Lemon> lots of people are following the deal
19:02:28 <Halcyon> Is it on auction or buy it now?
19:02:59 <Lemon> buy it now with make an offer
19:03:22 <Halcyon> Why not send to auction, obviously a lot of people are interested, particularly with the price of RAM etc... going crazy
19:03:26 <Halcyon> Get top dollar for it
19:05:30 <Lemon> ho well from what I saw they tend to sell easier on buy it now
19:06:20 <Lemon> what do you think
19:06:26 <Lemon> I took a picture of the serial number
19:06:36 <Lemon> idk if it appears on gpu z tho, I could try it
19:06:50 <Lemon> theres the device id, but id if its written on the card
19:09:17 <Lemon> heh while I was talking with him, I asked him if he can show me his mining rig, as im really interested by it (which is false but whatever)
19:09:28 <Lemon> as you said, it would also put me off
19:09:55 <Lemon> but I thought it would be a nice technique to see if he actually got a mining rig, or if he's just trying to scam me
19:11:38 <Lemon> idk I have a bad feeling about this guy
19:12:21 <Halcyon> Hey, even if he is trying to scam you, as long as you follow policy, you won't lose any money
19:12:49 <Halcyon> But, I would send it to auction. You'll get more legitimate bidders that way.
19:15:01 <Lemon> well looking at how many horror stories there is on ebay, idk about that :/
19:15:21 <Lemon> I want to avoid auctions because of bots, and looking at prices they tend to go low
19:15:29 <Halcyon> *shrug* As I said, it's very low risk if you just do what's required of you for seller protection
19:16:29 <Lemon> I want to believe that, but look on the net, man its like buyer wins 99% of the time...
19:16:36 <Lemon> im really scared, thats a lot of money for me
19:16:47 <Lemon> and that guy is answering me weirdly
19:16:50 <Lemon> haaaaaaaa
19:16:54 <Lemon> get me out of there !
19:24:43 <steve30> hi
19:25:40 <Halcyon> Lemon, I don't agree with that at all
19:26:02 <Halcyon> Don't believe what you read on the internet. Chances are, those sellers never read the policy, didn't comply with it, that's their fault.
19:26:11 <Halcyon> I've had someone try to scam me, Paypal sided with me
19:26:28 <Lemon> ok, I want to believe you
19:26:35 <Lemon> so I will show you my deal
19:26:39 <Lemon> can you please tell me if its fine ?

19:27:10 <Lemon> so as you said, if he send me back something without it or wrong one I can at least prove it ?
19:27:21 <Halcyon> Mmmm BARELY readable
19:27:37 <Halcyon> Absolutely
19:27:56 <Halcyon> Amend the ad, include a close up photo of the label

19:35:23 <Halcyon> It says:
19:35:24 <Halcyon> At the very least, your documentation must include:
19:35:24 <Halcyon> The date the item was sent; and
19:35:24 <Halcyon> An official acceptance by the shipper, such as a postmark or online status. (Status that shows the item was delivered is also acceptable.)
19:35:24 <Halcyon> It must also include either:
19:35:25 <Halcyon> The recipient’s delivery address, showing at least the state, city and postcode (or international equivalent); or
19:35:28 <Halcyon> A receipt from Australia Post showing at least the recipient’s suburb, city or postcode (or international equivalent).
19:35:31 <Halcyon> Examples of proof of shipping include:
19:35:33 <Halcyon> A copy of the shipping receipt or shipping label that includes the delivery address, or
19:35:35 <Halcyon> For Australia Post eParcel customers, a copy of the consignment information page which shows the delivery address and the online tracking code that can be used to confirm delivery, or

19:54:29 <Halcyon> If it's a private arrangement outside of ebay, I don't know if seller protections apply?
19:54:30 <Lemon> from what I read, ebay opens the dispute

20:58:31 <steve30> maybe because its pronounced like ow-n-sez
20:58:40 <Ampera> that'd be my first guess
20:58:54 <Ampera> but it could also have a latin origin like lb
20:59:31 <Halcyon> Fair enoughzzzz

21:08:17 <Ampera> It'd be a cold day in hell that someone is fucked up enough to actually love me, nevermind fuck me
21:08:26 <Ampera> and I otherwise have better things to spend my money on
21:08:32 <Halcyon> Welllllll....
21:08:54 <Halcyon> If you weren't American, I'd like you a hell of a lot more :P
21:09:05 <Ampera> If you weren't Australian I'd like you
21:09:13 <Halcyon> Oh please, you love me
21:09:20 <Ampera> [citation needed]

21:09:36 <Halcyon> Hahahahaha
21:09:39 <Halcyon> I hate you :P
21:09:50 <Ampera> see? old dogs can learn new tricks!
21:10:02 <Halcyon> You calling me old?!
21:10:22 <Ampera> I'd settle for the more polite term of "legacy hardware"
21:10:28 <Halcyon> Mmmm'
21:10:32 <Halcyon> I'll accept that
21:10:43 <Halcyon> Legacy can still be cool
21:10:48 <Ampera> though, at your age, it's most likely to be legacy software
21:11:01 <Halcyon> That's where you don't know me at all :P
21:11:13 <Ampera> No, but it's funny either way.
21:11:21 <Halcyon> True
21:11:39 <Ampera> my IEC cables and grounding bar should be in today
21:11:51 <Halcyon> I guess since you are "new technology", you don't last anywhere near as long as you should and people just toss you aside?
21:12:08 <Ampera> I wish people tossed me aside, that'd mean they bothered to pick me up in the first place
21:12:25 <Ampera> I'm more like a cheap knockoff someone looks at, laughs at for a moment, and then quickly discards

21:15:00 <Ampera> you don't have to taste food to think it'll be good
21:15:33 <Halcyon> You don't?
21:15:48 <Halcyon> Well I guess, thinking and knowing are different
21:16:14 <Ampera> all I want is for my body to stop having its own mini french revolution paired with the spanish inquisition
21:16:43 <Halcyon> Anyway, tell me about your toys you're getting
21:16:43 <Ampera> I didn't sleep at all last night
21:16:49 <Halcyon> Oh no :( Why?
21:16:55 <Ampera> side effects
21:17:11 <Ampera> thought that was made obvious by the, I want to throw my guts up so bad right now, comments
21:17:37 <Ampera> anyways, I should be getting half a dozen NEMA 6-15P to IEC C13 cables
21:18:00 <Ampera> and my subpanel needs a separate grounding bar to adhere to code, can't be bound like a main panel
21:18:02 <Ampera> and it didn't come with one
21:18:56 <Halcyon> Right, that's what you were saying the other day
21:19:04 <Halcyon> Can that just be a conductor?
21:19:47 <Ampera> to my knowledge, not according to code, it must be a sort of screw busbar thing, screwed into the metal case
21:20:02 <Halcyon> Not just a mere wire/cable
21:20:11 <Ampera> well how are you going to connect circuits to that
21:20:35 <Halcyon> Same way your home wiring connects to the street?
21:20:39 <Halcyon> Screw terminals and such
21:20:52 <Ampera> as I said, it's a bar of screw terminals
21:20:54 <Ampera> to bind it all together
21:21:02 <Halcyon> You're a bar of screw terminals

21:24:42 <Ampera> Square D is the brand of all the breaker gear I have
21:24:54 <Ampera> the box, the breakers, and everything else ended up being Square D

21:26:08 <Ampera> It is so tempting to load myself up with meds and sleep this shit off straight on till tomorrow
21:26:13 <Halcyon> I think we have corrupted you slightly K :P
21:26:23 <Halcyon> Do that Ampera
21:26:26 <Ampera> but I'm not sure how that'd affect the effectiveness of the vaccine
21:26:32 <Halcyon> Meh
21:26:34 <Ampera> so I'm going to try to hold out as long as I can
21:27:07 <Reg7805> hello everbody, how is everybody doing?
21:27:15 <Halcyon> They would have told you if there were any medications that you shouldnt take
21:27:20 <Ampera> absolutely horrible
21:27:24 <Halcyon> Heya Reg7805, not bad, you?
21:27:33 <Ampera> true, but the problem is even they probably don't know the whole story
21:27:34 <Reg7805> good Halcyon
21:27:45 <Reg7805> whatsup Ampera
21:27:51 <Ampera> it's sci-fi medicine that's been rushed out the door faster than a wretching dog on a carpet
21:27:56 * Ampera pukes up
21:27:59 <Ampera> that's up
21:28:06 <Halcyon> It's not unlike any other flu vaccine
21:28:12 <Halcyon> Which they design every year
21:28:17 <Ampera> of course it is
21:28:22 <Halcyon> How so?
21:28:25 <Ampera> it's completely novel vaccine technology never deployed at scale before
21:28:34 <Ampera> it's an mRNA vaccine instead of a deactivated virus vaccine
21:28:47 <Halcyon> Eh, Potato Potato
21:28:51 <Halcyon> Does the same thing in the end
21:28:56 <Ampera> that is also not true
21:29:09 <Halcyon> Inducing an immune response? How is it not true?
21:29:17 <Ampera> they have entirely different methods of operation, and for that reason, have rather different effects
21:29:18 <Reg7805> new tech, still not fully understood and dont know what the future effects of vaccine
21:29:26 <Halcyon> No, I get that
21:29:31 <Ampera> It's inducing an immune respone, but how it's induced is completely different
21:29:40 <Halcyon> But at the end of the day, they are all designed to produce the same antibodies
21:29:47 <Ampera> that is also not true
21:29:57 <Halcyon> Of course it's true
21:30:04 <Halcyon> It's about protein binding
21:30:06 <Ampera> the mRNA vaccines are designed to create the outer protein spikes of the coronavirus, and train the body to attack that
21:30:29 <Ampera> traditional vaccines usually use modified forms of (I think either cold or flu) viruses
21:30:45 <Ampera> grown and cultured in eggs, deactivated, and shoved in a needle
21:31:07 <Halcyon> Yep
21:31:23 <Ampera> From what I'm aware of, mRNA vaccines are uncannily effective compared to their traditional counterparts
21:31:37 <Halcyon> They are better yes
21:31:42 <Halcyon> (Generally speaking)
21:32:16 <Ampera> the point is, they are different, and do different things, and in medicine, minor differences can cause quite different effects
21:32:27 <Ampera> er, *different -> drastic
21:32:28 <Halcyon> Their end goal is the same
21:32:43 <Halcyon> And they target the same strains (currently)
21:32:45 <Ampera> well, ultimately, so is the original end goal of aspirin and paracetamol
21:32:52 <Halcyon> Kind of
21:32:52 <Ampera> yet they are massively different medications
21:32:56 <Halcyon> They do different thigns
21:33:07 <Ampera> or even aspirin and ibuprofen, which is a closer comparison
21:33:15 <Ampera> they have very different side effects and impacts on the body
21:33:20 <Halcyon> True, but it also depends on your illness
21:33:39 <Ampera> my illness?
21:33:58 <Halcyon> If you're having a heart attack, I wouldn't be reaching for ibuprofen or paracetemol.
21:34:53 <Halcyon> Anyway, I'm tired and my brain is broken. I'm off to bed
21:34:59 <Halcyon> I hope you feel better tomorrow Ampera
21:35:01 <Ampera> wha?
21:35:11 <Ampera> isn't aspirin specifically the medicine to take for a heart attack?
21:35:22 <Halcyon> In the absence of anything else, it absolutely is
21:35:23 <Ampera> I've never heard ibuprofen having an effect, and definitely not paracetamol
21:35:30 <Ampera> but moreso than ibuprofen
21:35:32 <Halcyon> It's a blood thinner and prevents clotting
21:35:44 <Ampera> ibuprofen?
21:35:50 <Halcyon> Aspirin
21:35:54 <Halcyon> Chew on a few of those
21:36:00 <Halcyon> You might actually live
21:36:38 <Ampera> but you just said ibuprofen for a heart attack
21:36:40 <Ampera> which isn't true at all
21:36:52 <Ampera> wikipedia as a source, it's saying it increases the risk of heart attack when used
21:37:07 <Halcyon> No, I said I wouldn't be reaching for ibuprofen or paracetamol
21:37:15 <Halcyon> Oh gawd, Wikipedia. Hahaha
21:37:37 <Halcyon> There is a reason why some people actually carry Aspirin on their person as a first-aid measure.
21:38:01 <Halcyon> In the absence of a defribrillator, it's actually quite effective.
21:38:10 <Ampera> oh
21:38:13 <Ampera> sorry, I misread that
21:38:21 <Ampera> I'm propped up in bed with a laptop is why
21:38:30 <Ampera> and the fucking sun in my eyes

22:01:28 <MrMobodies> I got a Surface RT, given to me and managed to partiallly "jailbreak" it
22:01:40 <MrMobodies> to run some usefull stuff
22:01:47 <K> the jail part or the break part?
22:01:48 <Ysjoelfir> hello MrMobodies
22:01:49 <eevBot> Hello, Ysjoelfir!
22:02:01 <MrMobodies> it is just x86node
22:02:08 <steve30> That's interesting. I told Handbrake to make a video with a bitrate of 3Mbps and it made a video of 6Mbps
22:02:49 <MrMobodies> by the time I got it they put the final nail in the secure boot so unisgined things won't work
22:02:57 <Ysjoelfir> steve30, thanks for putting me outside. I enjoyed walking and going around, identifying plants. :P sadly my headache is still there, but the nausea and whatnot is gone
22:02:58 <MrMobodies> I am missing classicshell and irfanvew
22:03:15 * steve30 passes Ysjoelfir the paracetamol
22:03:27 <steve30> Usually coffee also helps for headaches, but Ysjoelfir might not approve of that
22:03:39 <Ysjoelfir> I already took some, thanks :) and I have a big cup of black tea :P
22:03:46 <MrMobodies> the emulator can't seem to run many things but I surprised to see it run Winamp perfetly well
22:04:46 <MrMobodies> oh and the enery saving auto screen dimming thing had stopped
22:04:53 <MrMobodies> when I disabled the Tegra 4 driver
22:05:12 <MrMobodies> no more dimming, great
22:05:48 <MrMobodies> there is tearing attimes but I don't mind, only going to be used for basic and remote stuff
22:06:00 <MrMobodies> pleased to see someone port and sign Puttytel to work
22:07:01 <MrMobodies> camera quit working but the Desptech endoscope camera seems to work okay
22:11:05 <MrMobodies> unfortunately the brightness can't be adjusted with the basic display driver
22:11:19 <MrMobodies> I brought a breakusb usb thing some years ago and it wouldn't fit
22:11:25 <MrMobodies> with the charger plug
22:11:28 <MrMobodies> https://i.imgur.com/YdnBTHQ.jpg
22:11:44 <MrMobodies> so last night I melted it then it fit
22:11:51 <MrMobodies> with the soldering iron
22:12:48 <MrMobodies> the only nice thing I like about it is the screen and that is it
22:15:33 <MrMobodies> anybody ever brog
22:15:45 <MrMobodies> anybody every brought or given one of those Surface RT?
22:16:34 <MrMobodies> I was thinking i should have sold it years ago when it was given to me than keep it as a paper weight.
22:17:45 <steve30> "Your Slogan Here". What an excellent slogan that is :)

22:24:50 <MrMobodies> but they still brought them and gave one of them to me a couple of years later
22:25:26 <MrMobodies> they used the office package on there but it lacked visual basic and I think some formula stuff
22:25:56 <MrMobodies> I remembered when I just had a look at it 2017
22:26:05 <MrMobodies> when I got it a couple of months after
22:26:29 <MrMobodies> and I put it away as I lost temper with it
22:27:19 <MrMobodies> there was the dynamic brightness which I turned off but didn't know at the time the other dimming thing was to do with to with the Tegra 4 display driver
22:27:39 <MrMobodies> to save power, where Intel had a setting this one didn't

22:57:04 <steve30> don't think i've seen one of those before
22:57:53 <steve30> So, I put a video on youtube the other week and I seem to have completely misplaced the original source footage :/
22:58:18 <Ysjoelfir> Its an east german company. Welta. I have 2 more from them, a Weltix and a Trio. The Trio is a 120 size film camera and I made some adapters for that thing to work with standard 35mm :) Makes pretty cool pics.
22:58:49 <steve30> I've never used 120. I'm a 35mm person myself
22:59:20 <Ysjoelfir> https://drive.google.com/file/d/1OmdfSyi1okLF6dckh9bbu0SaMnK7uJNQ/view?usp=sharing I just love to use 35mm film in 120 cameras. seeing the sprocket holes gives a pretty cool effect

23:02:08 <Ysjoelfir> Or that one on some random 30 year old film that should have been used up by 1992 xD It shows the Kanonmuseum Møvik in southern norway. realy cool effect, works perfectly for that old war ruin. https://drive.google.com/file/d/15ZfNzYcdqvYeemP0SQWuB2-i4VS41sBt/view?usp=sharing

23:03:26 <Ysjoelfir> I don't scan them. I tried with various scanners, but the results were... meh. I instead use the caddy from one of the scanners, put that over a realy bright 5€ spotlight from the hardware store and photograph it with my Pentax K30 with realy low ISO and a 50mm F1.7 set to F8 or F16
23:05:51 <K> i have a rollei sl66
23:05:55 <K> it is very nice
23:06:22 <Ysjoelfir> I love the rolleis. but they are sooooooo expensive, way above my level
23:07:32 <Ysjoelfir> I always wanted one, especially since I learnt that my programming lady, which we tend to go out to take photos with from time to time, also has one. damn, I was so jealous xD

23:09:52 <Ysjoelfir> well, you should go out and use it? :)
23:10:15 <steve30> I haven't thought to as I've mostly been doing video this last year or two
23:10:52 <Ysjoelfir> I had some Maco TS Eagle in that Welta camera today, has been sitting for quite some time. I am very curious to see how the pics turn out, never used that material before
23:13:47 <steve30> I meant to buy some new chemicals last year as I have a couple of films that need developing, but I never got round to it. Maybe this year...
23:14:36 <Ysjoelfir> did you ever try developing it in coffee or tea? at least in germany developing in a mixture called "Caffenol" is pretty common. I do that myself, it works great (the pics I showed were made that way)
23:20:19 <steve30> never tried that, I normally use Ilford or Kodak chemicals
23:20:57 <Ysjoelfir> give it a try some day :) you only need to stock the fixative than, which keeps way longer afaik than the developer.

23:42:13 <Ysjoelfir> lol, thats fine. And jealous: because I have been looking for a new job for over a zear now, and everzone around me seems to "just" have to snip their finger and boom, new job :P
23:42:55 <steve30> So, today we are having local elections, which have been delayed by a year, and the news is asking "Can I take a selfie at a polling station?".
23:43:30 <electrohead> lol - well, I've technically have been looking for a while now, just went in spurts in terms of looking and filling out applications
