00:04:32 <s_gmusic> how so?
00:52:45 <Steve> yo
01:11:51 <Avatar> sup
01:12:18 <Steve> played my -4 tonight
01:12:25 <Steve> he survived despite my best efforts
01:19:36 <Avatar> what is your -4
01:19:43 <Avatar> don't you have like 100 characters
01:19:51 <Avatar> is this an old character
01:20:06 <Steve> my -4 is a gnome barbarian
01:20:32 <Steve> 14/16/18/7/8/9 stats
01:20:47 <Steve> i roleplay him as crazy.
01:28:18 <Avatar> he is a gnome
01:28:22 <Avatar> he is crazy regardless of his stats
01:28:26 <Steve> yeah.
01:28:31 <Steve> well his brother isnt crazy
01:28:39 <Avatar> yes he is crazy
01:28:44 <Avatar> wait, is his brother a gnome?
01:28:49 <Steve> his brother is my -1
01:28:58 <Avatar> is he a gnome
01:29:02 <Steve> yes he is a gnome
01:29:05 <Steve> not crazy
01:29:06 <Avatar> then he is also crazy
01:29:09 <Avatar> yes
01:29:11 <Steve> no
01:29:17 <Avatar> yes he is a gnome and therefore crazy
01:29:22 <Avatar> regardless of stats
01:29:24 <Steve> he is very grounded
01:29:32 <Avatar> then he is not a gnome
01:29:38 <Avatar> maybe a gnome pretending to be another race
01:29:42 <Avatar> high cha?
01:30:10 <Steve> decent cha
01:30:13 <Steve> high wisdom
01:30:18 <Avatar> maybe he can bluff
01:30:30 <Avatar> he can pretend he is not a gnome
01:31:02 <Avatar> someone on facebook posted a photo of this funky peanut butter, maple syrup flavoured
01:31:03 <Steve> nah, he was sequestered in a monestary for like 100 years.
01:31:08 <Avatar> with no description
01:31:15 <Avatar> so I thought they were recommending it and went out and bought some
01:31:28 <Avatar> turns out they got a different flavour
01:31:36 <Avatar> the stuff I bought tastes like vegemite
01:32:25 <Avatar> well not quite that bad, but you get the idea
01:33:12 <Steve> i like natural peanut butter
01:33:19 <Steve> no jiff/whatever
01:35:53 <Steve> i have some vegemite up in my cupboard.
01:36:16 <Avatar> I also like natural peanut butter
01:36:29 <Avatar> but recently I tried some real deal peanut butter which is a different natural
01:36:33 <Avatar> and it was pretty goddamn good
01:36:42 <Avatar> so I thought maybe I should expand my horizons
01:36:54 <Avatar> and then someone posted a photo of this different peanut butter I had my eye on
01:36:57 <Avatar> this specific flavour
01:37:06 <Avatar> this specific flavour that apparently they don't even eat
02:03:19 <quasidog> yu p
02:03:54 <Brunius> what up in da hoooood
02:03:55 <Brunius> `op
02:04:14 <Steve> yo
02:10:03 <quasidog> um
02:10:12 <quasidog> hoodlumming
02:10:52 <quasidog> I just purchased 5th ed :)
02:11:01 <quasidog> I feel dirty .. but happy
02:11:40 <quasidog> 180 buck investment for coffee table books .. but rad books
02:11:48 <Steve> dont. I own 5th ed.
02:12:14 <quasidog> tis pretty nice
02:12:29 <quasidog> Got that 1st ed feel
02:12:55 <Steve> i got it at a pretty good discount, which is why i bought it.
02:12:57 <quasidog> artwork is a bit shite but in PHB
02:13:41 <quasidog> I just bought it becasue I was feeling nostalgic
02:14:34 <quasidog> Love the MM though .. art is good
02:17:39 <Avatar> pathfinder > 5th ed
02:18:16 <quasidog> of course it is
02:18:25 <quasidog> its teh one you play right ?
02:19:03 <quasidog> I read the PF rules once
02:19:13 <quasidog> basically hc DnD
02:19:21 <quasidog> for HC players
02:19:35 <Brunius> hardcore?
02:19:45 <Steve> Hella Cool
02:19:51 <quasidog> Hip Cat
02:20:47 <quasidog> I used to DM 1st - 2ND ed
02:20:58 <quasidog> PF looked like that jacked up
02:22:20 <Avatar> I don't think PF looks like 1st/2nd ed
02:22:31 <Avatar> are you sure you read pathfinder
02:22:37 <quasidog> to me it looks like it with more
02:22:44 <Avatar> did you read 3rd ed
02:22:45 <quasidog> options
02:22:48 <Avatar> because then you would be getting warmer
02:23:07 <quasidog> its all RPG :}
02:23:13 <quasidog> tis all teh same really
02:23:29 <Brunius> something something THAC0
02:23:54 <quasidog> something some take larger than man size damage
02:24:29 * quasidog throws spell components at Brunius
02:26:23 <Brunius> :(
02:27:40 * quasidog sends a Half-Orc Assasin with +5 Vampiric dagger at 'save at -5' or die with contact poison
02:28:56 * quasidog rolls a 6 :{
02:30:20 <quasidog> sigh disk 3
02:30:46 * quasidog is installing Dragon Age:Inqu
02:32:03 <quasidog> 25 gig install or some shite
03:21:30 <Steven> alrighty
03:22:48 <Steven> time to build this character in earnest
03:23:25 <Steven> paladin dragon disciple.
03:25:09 <Steven> the big decision is whether i want to go bard, skald, or sorc
04:15:41 <Avatar> skald
04:33:14 <Mekkis> bard
04:45:54 <Brunius> sorc
05:18:29 <Brunius> Mekkis: ACG, Investigator
05:18:37 <Brunius> What do you think of it?
05:30:59 <Mekkis> Brunius, same as what I think about most ACG classes. Unnecessary
05:31:29 <Mekkis> I managed to banish a planetar today!
05:31:49 <Mekkis> Well, to be correct, I managed to convince a planetar to banish itself!
05:34:55 <Brunius> what about mechanically
05:35:00 <Brunius> I've got a player wanting to play one
05:35:09 <Mekkis> what are you running?
05:35:21 <Brunius> probably a one off, mainly new players
05:35:33 <Brunius> I just don't want one guy having the spotlight
05:35:36 <Mekkis> I'd push for core only classes
05:35:39 <Brunius> I've had that happen before and it's been a pain
05:35:57 <Mekkis> or core/apg classes
06:00:23 <s_gmusic> I may have... underestimated how solid JB weld gets. having difficulty filing it down with a coarse file. :/

07:00:48 <***> Playback Complete.
07:34:15 <Avatar> you haven't played the traitor's lodge? I ran that not long ago
07:36:06 <Steven> yeah ive been busy every time its been played.
07:37:59 <Avatar> ops
07:40:15 <Mekkis> !feat extra revelation
07:40:17 <diebot> Mekkis, EXTRA REVELATION []Prereq: Revelation class feature. You have discovered a new aspect of your mystery.
07:40:17 <diebot> Benefit: You gain one additional revelation. You must meet all of the prerequisites for this revelation.
07:40:18 <diebot> Special: You can gain Extra Revelation multiple times. Source: APG
08:21:20 <Avatar> so I'm told ISG won't ever be getting discounted because it's a campaign setting book
09:08:16 Gamera ([email protected]) has joined #d&d
09:27:08 <Steven> where ya get that info from?
09:27:33 <Steven> and i finished that character.
09:28:01 <Steven> spent an hour or so actual time working on it, and got 10 bucks.
09:30:59 <Steven> so what you doing avatar?
10:23:47 Gamera has quit (Quit: )
12:20:24 <Steven> yo
12:23:47 <Dirty> Yo
12:23:57 <Dirty> I found out my budget was hlaf gold :(
12:24:10 <Steven> ouch.
12:24:17 <Dirty> So I'm going to watch the princess bride and cry
12:24:31 <Steven> okay...
12:26:27 <Steven> im creating something... odd
12:54:31 <Steven> there we go... it would get a laugh at a table im sure.
12:54:43 <Steven> Gnome Paladin/sorc/Dragon Disciple
13:24:26 <Steven> oh mans...
13:24:33 <Steven> okay i gotta make a character for someone else.
13:24:41 <Steven> a Corsair.
13:25:56 <Steven> a pirate or privateer
13:26:16 <Steven> I cant believe im going to get paid for this lol
13:30:36 <Dirty> Hrm
13:30:38 <Dirty> PF?
13:45:40 <Steve> hate it when that happens.
13:52:52 <Steven> so what everybody up to?yay... reconnect issue
14:28:18 <Avatar> http://www.pfrpg.com.au/pfs.php5
14:28:24 <Avatar> season 6 scenarios have been added, update your list
14:42:01 <Steven> that looks close enough
15:33:03 <Mekkis> !spell spell resistance
15:33:08 <diebot> Mekkis, SPELL RESISTANCE abjuration ([]) cleric/oracle 5, alchemist 5, inquisitor 5 1 standard action Range: touch creature touched Comp: V, S, DF Duration: 1 min./level Save: Will negates (harmless) SR:yes (harmless)Source: PFRPG Core
15:33:08 <diebot> The target gains spell resistance equal to 12 + your caster level.
15:55:02 <Steven> so you should be regaining panache at a fairly steady rate.
15:55:05 <Dirty> Move the 4th and 8th into dex to bump it to 20? keep ch @ 16?
15:55:15 <Dirty> and have int start @ 12?
15:55:29 <Steven> you should probably invest in some con score as a frontline character you will be targeted by attacks
15:55:53 <Steven> and you can only parry so much.
15:56:15 <Steven> w/ 79hp a crit could kill you.
15:56:48 <Dirty> kk
15:57:21 <Dirty> 28 Ac should be okay but not great.
15:57:36 <Steven> there is also the position that you get 4 skill points+1 favored if you so choose that you arent really NEEDing int. so you could dump that down to 10 and w/ the 1 point left over from your point buy bump con to 13.
15:58:19 <Steven> and end up with a 14 con
15:58:33 <Steven> so your stats would be 10/18/14/10/8/16
15:58:43 <Steven> before your 4&8 ability bump
16:00:00 <Steven> and dex is going to be your friend. so you probably wanna put the ability score increases there because its basically +1 AC +1 to hit and +1 damage
16:00:07 <Dirty> Yeah
16:00:12 <Steven> and +1 reflex save
16:00:25 <Dirty> So final is 10/18+1+1/14/10/8/16
16:00:37 <Steven> yeah
16:01:08 <Steven> should end up with a 29ac which is very respectible for a dex based class
16:01:42 <Proquar> hi dirty
16:03:27 <Dirty> Steven and I are going over this sheet of mine
16:03:28 <Dirty> https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/10Vf15OYn1xxVpr2JUh_Xs4lZUeCq5ekIvTz338WGpTE/edit#gid=1867984558
16:03:40 <Steven> if you're looking to do more damage you could look towards getting piranha strike
16:03:47 <Steven> its basically power attack for dex
16:04:08 <Dirty> How much feat tax?
16:04:41 <Steven> weapon finesse
16:05:11 <Steven> also your rapier should be a 15-20 crit range
16:07:32 <Dirty> From Imp Crit?
16:07:47 <Dirty> Already have wep finesse from class
16:07:48 <Steven> yeah
16:08:30 <Steven> i have to go run some errands now, have a good one!
16:08:34 <Dirty> You too man!
16:08:40 <Dirty> Feel better
16:13:33 <Dirty> Any thought Proquar?
16:17:11 <Proquar> you totally have to find an awesomely powerful magic feather
16:18:12 <Dirty> Yeah
16:18:18 <Dirty> I talk to the DM about it.
16:18:41 <Dirty> Might Reflavour the Ioun Torch to be a feather that emits light
16:19:05 <Dirty> Maybe just have it be a Feather Token Tree stuck in my hat.
16:19:17 <Dirty> oooh
16:19:23 <Dirty> That is shiny
16:26:40 <Proquar> the torch would be cool
16:34:49 <Avatar> that does seem good
16:34:57 <Avatar> but I remember spell resistance is usually not worth taking
16:35:08 <Avatar> isn't that a roughly 50% chance of spells failing
16:36:01 <Avatar> SR vs 1d20+CL isn't it
16:36:46 <Avatar> or is it 1d20+CL+spell level
16:54:35 <Dirty> !spell fireball
16:54:37 <diebot> Dirty, FIREBALL evocation ([fire]) sorcerer/wizard 3, magus 3, bloodrager 3 1 standard action Range: long (400 ft. + 40 ft./level) Comp: V, S, M (a ball of bat guano and sulfur) Duration: instantaneous Save: Reflex half SR:yesSource: PFRPG Core
16:54:37 <diebot> The description is too long to send over IRC. View http://nl.ti4200.info/vpsirc/spells/fireball.html
17:08:24 Brunius_ is now known as Brunius
17:11:00 <Dirty> How is everyone today?
17:17:00 <Dirty> Hiya
17:36:07 <Steven> back
17:38:17 <Avatar> working yo
17:38:29 <Avatar> a bunch of people in the paizo chat channel said that
17:38:35 <Avatar> are they wrong
17:39:15 <Steven> was one of them lisa stevens?
17:39:20 <Avatar> no
17:39:24 <Avatar> well I don't think so
17:39:36 <Avatar> unless her nickname is Pirate Rob
17:39:49 <Steven> nope isnt her.
17:40:32 <Avatar> they did seem like they knew what they were talking about
17:41:42 <Steven> if i was a business i wouldnt tell people im going to have a sale on a product they might buy today at full price.
17:42:35 <Steven> wait a month or so... maybe i'll get it for you for your birthday.
17:42:57 <Avatar> my birthday isn't until the end of july
17:43:26 <Steven> yeah maybe it will be on sale by then as well... who knows.
17:43:31 <Avatar> they pointed out that the whole section of books is set at a higher price as a standard
17:43:58 <Avatar> which turned out to be true, and there was no hesitation in them talking about that to suggest that they had to go look it up to find a reason to say that
17:44:04 <Steven> also i played my crazy gnome barbarian again tonight... it survived.
17:44:04 <Steven> again
17:44:06 <Steven> despite my best efforts of doing terrible things in combat.
17:48:23 <Steven> who knows man... I bought a physical copy.
17:48:46 <Steven> and it sits down at the store where GMs can use it.
17:56:55 <Avatar> mate that doesn't help us online
17:57:08 <Avatar> it actually hampers us
17:57:54 <Steven> doesnt hamper me really.
17:58:04 <Steven> i can always go fetch the book.
18:05:33 Proquar has quit (Client exited)
18:07:09 <Avatar> not you obviously
18:07:34 <Steven> buy the book and it will stop hampering you.
18:13:45 <Steven> alright avatar...
18:13:50 <Steven> here we go.
18:14:09 <Steven> you answer this question correctly and i will buy the book for you.
18:15:38 <Steven> you will have 21.283 seconds to answer once you are ready.
18:15:45 <Avatar> ok go
18:15:48 <Steven> What is Cayden's Favorite number?
18:16:23 <Steven> .........
18:16:24 <Steven> come on
18:16:30 <Avatar> he doesn't have one
18:16:31 <Steven> and.... times up
18:16:38 <Steven> 3.... the answer is 3
18:16:41 <Avatar> why 3
18:16:56 <Steven> a drink for you, a drink for me, and a drink to our dead homies.
18:17:13 <Avatar> SOURCE?
18:17:15 <Avatar> I think you made that up
18:17:17 <Steven> plus it is a fairly common number to pick
18:17:29 <Steven> so i figured you had a good shot at guessing it.
18:17:33 <Steven> people love 3s
18:17:38 <Avatar> I had no shot at guessing it, you made it up!
18:17:44 <Avatar> it was a trick question, I knew that much
18:18:04 <Steven> yeah... which means you guess, you pick 3, and then BAM you get a free book.
18:18:13 <Avatar> you can't make up canon though
18:18:16 <Avatar> it was an unfair question
18:19:14 <Steven> never said it was going to be a fair question...
18:22:01 <Avatar> a drink to our dead homies
18:22:03 <Avatar> jesus
18:22:36 <Steven> i know right?
18:22:49 <Steven> it could also be argued thats how long it took him to complete the test of the starstone
18:23:01 <Steven> 3 days.
18:26:41 <Steven> hmmmm
18:26:55 <Steven> i think i just found a thing that lets you stay in elemental body all day.
18:27:37 <Avatar> it didn't take 3 anything!
18:28:19 <Steven> actually it did. Took him 3 days to complete.
18:29:09 <Steven> its in the campaign setting
18:39:40 <s_gmusic> lol poor avatar
18:41:08 <Steven> alright....
18:41:26 <Steven> one last shot and then you'll have to buy the book yourself or get somebody else to buy it for you.
18:41:32 <Avatar> here we go
18:42:58 <Avatar> ok you're right it was 3 days for the test
18:43:03 <Avatar> I will give you that
18:44:03 <Steven> Who was the last person known(mentioned in print) to attempt the test of the Star Stone?
18:44:16 Proquar ([email protected]) has joined #d&d
18:44:43 <Avatar> iomedae
18:45:10 <Steven> No. She was the last to succeed.
18:45:29 <Avatar> that is basically the same thing !
18:45:42 <Steven> the last person to attempt it that was mentioned in print was Sir Reinhart.
18:45:53 <Avatar> who
18:46:10 <Steven> a Mendevian Knight with aspirations of godhood.
18:47:05 <Avatar> where is he mentioned in print
18:47:23 <Steven> Mentioned in Scenario 6-10 The Wounded Wisp
18:48:03 <Avatar> you knew I hadn't played that !
18:48:19 <Avatar> mate instead of setting me up to fail you could just say lolz buy it urself
18:48:20 <Steven> actually i didnt know you hadnt played that yet.
18:48:27 <Avatar> save me the humiliation and degradation !
18:48:32 <Avatar> oh you knew alright
18:48:44 <Steven> but its like a super obscure trivia.
18:48:55 <Avatar> in a newly released scenario
18:49:30 <Steven> yeah... again never said it was going to be fair.
18:50:45 <Avatar> mate
18:56:50 <Mekkis> BS. I attempted it yesterday!
19:00:44 <Mekkis> AND I wrote about it
19:00:57 <Steven> did paizo print it?
19:01:00 <Mekkis> yep
19:01:06 <Steven> i require proof.
19:01:30 <Steven> also... he still didnt guess you.
19:01:38 <Mekkis> just give me a few minutes to jimmy it up
19:01:43 <Steven> kk
19:03:47 <Steven> hmmm... something is wrong with this thing...
19:06:38 <Avatar> mekkis may as well have taken it yesterday
19:06:45 <Avatar> it is about as made-up as all the other questions !
19:07:14 <Steven> hmmmmm... must not of worked.
19:12:55 <Steven> hey avatar... can you check your email for me?
19:14:14 <Avatar> that's a filthy lie
19:20:30 <Steven> ...
19:20:32 <Steven> poke
19:21:11 <s_gmusic> I think avatar's sulking over your quiz, steven.
19:21:56 <Steven> well that makes it difficult to find out if he actually got the book or not doesnt it?
19:23:26 <s_gmusic> a wee bit, yeah
19:27:27 <Steven> im just going to assume the weird email i got means something went wrong
19:27:37 <Steven> and send an email to customer service.

21:15:07 <Avatar> roll up a character !!
21:16:35 <Syrass> :)
21:16:51 <Syrass> actually - I was sorta looking for a group for tuesday evening Aus time :)
21:19:21 <Avatar> why tuesday
21:19:40 <Syrass> Because that is convenient for me :)
21:19:45 <Syrass> just reading your website atm
21:19:57 <Avatar> that is a very middleoftheweek kind of day though
21:20:03 <Syrass> so you basically do "flash" games?
21:20:04 <Avatar> chosen seemingly at random
21:20:13 <Avatar> what is a "flash" game

22:19:38 <s_gmusic> now... WALL O' TEXT!
22:19:41 <s_gmusic> Pathfinder Society is an organized play system set up by Paizo. It allows everyone to play under the same rules anywhere PFS (Pathfinder Society) is played. There are two big things to PFS: First, there's a banned/restricted list. It says what books and (mostly) what portions of books you can use or not use (many races in the Advanced Race Guide are not allowed, for example, without a special
22:19:41 <s_gmusic> boon, which I'll explain shortly). By following the ban list, a PFS character you make for play here can be used at a real game store in Sydney or Melbourne or elsewhere. Second, Paizo releases short adventures (most average about 4 to 5 hours) for organized play. These track what you've done and determine what gold, xp, items, and boons you get, all determined by what difficulty you've played
22:19:42 <s_gmusic> the scenario at. Scenarios are divided up into seasons (years) that begin/end with GenCon. There's a large, overall storyline connecting everything, as well as smaller storylines for each season. There are also special modules that are longer and more difficult, so they give more xp and gold.
