00:11:47 <T3sl4> there we go, https://www.seventransistorlabs.com/Images/IsoHVModule.jpg
00:12:17 <T3sl4> that's CS5173 in the middle https://www.onsemi.com/pub/Collateral/CS5171-D.PDF
00:17:17 <hsn> u sucker when u built it .. :D T3sl4
00:17:29 <T3sl4> ?
00:18:07 <hsn> u built this fast :P
00:19:29 <hsn> T3sl4, u said yesterday u wanted 100v somthing .. then u went and build this .. no ?
00:19:39 <T3sl4> yes
00:19:59 <hsn> this is fast :P
00:20:13 <hsn> do u do it on print method etching ?
00:20:55 <hsn> or these r tapes
00:21:10 <T3sl4> i just carve it with a utility blade
00:21:30 <T3sl4> https://www.seventransistorlabs.com/Images/GD9.jpg closeup on same style
00:21:48 <hsn> dude u r impressive :)
00:24:06 <T3sl4> thanks
00:24:41 <rust_collector> What? did you scrape away copper without a cnc? Please sprinkle some rgb leds.

00:27:11 <hsn> T3sl4, a102w
00:27:20 <hsn> what is it
00:27:24 <T3sl4> CMC
00:27:50 <hsn> cmc = common mode choke i understand ?
00:28:56 <T3sl4> right
00:29:37 <hsn> and the blue "PM3" = protection like varistor or somthing ?
00:30:16 <T3sl4> filter cap, and the brown one behind
00:30:34 <T3sl4> PM364 J 200V
00:30:41 <hsn> why this type ? film type i guess ?
00:30:50 <T3sl4> the other says DTM274J 250
00:31:45 <hsn> cant find them online :D
00:32:27 <T3sl4> they're salvaged, probably just metallized PP film
00:33:05 <T3sl4> hm, still quite a bit of CM noise, but it's lower frequencies, not crunchy bits, i guess that's okay
00:33:39 <hsn> why this type of caps ?
00:33:55 <T3sl4> low ESR
00:34:14 <hsn> ah
00:34:23 <T3sl4> it's only a few 10mA, electrolytic wouldn't be great here, and i don't need like 4.7uF+
00:35:27 <hsn> no ceramic ?
00:36:09 <T3sl4> yeah, only a few mV left at high frequencies, not a big deal. maybe not CISPR 22 but good enough for what i want
00:36:25 <T3sl4> ceramics suck at HV, i don't bother stocking any in that range
00:37:04 <hsn> ok .. u mean they get "de Faraded" .. or cost ?
00:37:35 <hsn> "de faraded" = dc bias affect the capacitance ..
00:37:35 <T3sl4> both
00:37:43 <hsn> i see
00:39:14 <T3sl4> a couple 1210 maybe 1812 caps would do, accounting for that effect
00:39:26 <T3sl4> but again, i don't stock em, and i'm not gonna buy some for this stupid thing
00:39:34 <T3sl4> film caps however i have a ton of
00:41:07 <hsn> so u call this thing stupid
00:41:43 <hsn> i cant build "this stupid thing" .. this make me feel shit :D
00:41:56 <T3sl4> i mean it's no computer
00:43:36 <rust_collector> maybe you could solder an arduino to it, and post pics on pinterest or something
00:46:31 <hsn> rust_collector, and call it "stupid smart 100V safe in middle DIY power supply" ?
00:47:37 <rust_collector> diy power supply with arduino 100v

01:07:07 <electrohead> T3sl4: I've used a ruler and a dremel in the past for the copper clad boards
01:08:37 <rust_collector> damnit! now I want to carve tracks into slate, and fill ot with some kind of metal
01:11:24 <rust_collector> that reminds me of mr engineer ex-neighbor, that was measuring and cutting a pole, and the measuring stick, and never got exactly what he wanted, even if the measurement was right

02:10:55 <arch> T3sl4, ayyy, you're alive! thank goodness
02:11:16 <T3sl4> yes
02:17:56 <hsn> Ysjoelfir,
02:17:58 <hsn> alive?
02:18:11 <Ysjoelfir> kind of, why?
02:18:27 <rust_collector> no one knows?
02:18:28 <hsn> i wanna ask u .. as i cant copy text .. inside image
02:18:50 <hsn> whats saying in germanistan
02:18:57 <hsn> https://snipboard.io/kHg1tR.jpg
02:19:16 <hsn> uncopyable
02:20:07 <Ysjoelfir> The one under the picture: "Image 12 to 15: experimental inherent frequency and model of the simulated assembly"
02:20:10 <Ysjoelfir> the longer text:
02:22:29 <Ysjoelfir> "In a first calculation the requirements for a mounting using only four screws was analyzed. Pictures 12 to 16 show the calculated types of oscillations for the four ascertained inherent frequencies"
02:23:28 <hsn> ah
02:24:13 <hsn> so u say 9 screws = better?
02:24:39 <hsn> from colormap :D
02:25:22 <rust_collector> depends of the frequency? just glue it in?
02:28:34 <T3sl4> wowww
02:28:42 <T3sl4> i was offline for almost 5 hours last night?
02:28:53 <hsn> Ysjoelfir, you right ... i better call my self "im glued" than "im screwed"
02:29:09 <hsn> T3sl4, so u actually slept ?
02:29:20 <T3sl4> yes?
02:29:29 <hsn> someone said u dont sleep
02:29:30 <hsn> :P
02:29:38 <hsn> i think Halcyon it was
02:29:54 <T3sl4> it just seems that way
02:29:59 <rust_collector> people was worried, and started riots, because that is what you do these days?
02:30:35 <hsn> T3sl4, do u sleep like "5+ hours" continues .. or u get sleep shifts
02:30:44 <hsn> like 4 / 4 hours or somthing
02:30:49 <T3sl4> 8hr
02:30:54 <hsn> i dont buy it :P
02:32:39 <Ysjoelfir> I assume so, yes. :P
02:34:14 <K> he sleeps when noone sees him
02:34:33 <T3sl4> the trick is not sending messages while i sleep
02:35:11 <Lord_of_nothing> Hi
02:35:19 <Lord_of_nothing> Does anyone here buy stuff on aliexpress today?
02:35:51 <T3sl4> today? no
02:37:40 <Lord_of_nothing> i bought a watch
02:37:49 <Lord_of_nothing> headphones and a usb 3.0 isolator
02:38:08 * arch expects to see Lord_of_nothing 's house on fire in the news soon
02:38:09 <K> what headphones and whatcha gonna isolate?
02:39:58 <Lord_of_nothing> well both use bt so i guess that is isolated to
02:40:59 <arch> T3sl4, i make dis TPS562201 13V to 5V buck reg yesterday, on single layer copperclad. it actually works pretty well, but can't draw more than about 1.5A continuous current at the output before it gets hot and goes into thermal hiccuping mode: https://imgur.com/a/7GoUMzi
02:41:44 <Lord_of_nothing> https://de.aliexpress.com/item/4001293646092
02:42:14 <T3sl4> nice
02:42:16 <arch> 5V 1A output makes the TPS reach 60C, so not bad at all
02:42:25 <T3sl4> yeah, not much thermal mass there
02:42:44 <arch> and the PCB itself is very tiny, 2cm by 3cm
02:43:00 <Lord_of_nothing> what did your think do?
02:43:19 <arch> nothing really...im gonna incorporate that in my custom Sharp LCD TV retrofit driver
02:43:32 <Lord_of_nothing> sound good
02:43:42 <Lord_of_nothing> i want upgrade my sdr think
02:43:56 <arch> i just wanted to see if single layer buck regulators work nicely, as in, have low enough noise and ripple, and it seems like it works nicely
02:44:00 <Lord_of_nothing> for that i need to put them into a good hobby box
02:44:52 <Lord_of_nothing> Globale Version Huawei Band 4 Pro Smart Band Blut Sauerstoff 0.95 ''AMOLED Bildschirm Herz Rate Tracker GPS Schlaf überwachung
02:44:52 <Lord_of_nothing> Artikelnr. 8120779967877037 41,24 EUR
02:45:05 <arch> i think that 800mV of ripple might be a lot for input capacitor though. or is that fine T3sl4?
02:45:15 <Lord_of_nothing> HUAWEI FreeLace Pro Bluetooth 5,0 Wireless Headset 3 Mic Design Aktive Geräuschunterdrückung Schnelle Lade
02:45:16 <arch> i could make it 400mV by using 2x 10uF caps
02:45:26 <Lord_of_nothing> 66,61 EUR
02:45:27 <arch> err i mean 2x 4.7uF caps
02:46:00 <Lord_of_nothing> i should learn how to solder to
02:46:16 <Lord_of_nothing> its so embarrising i dont know to...
02:46:32 <arch> you should get into copperclad PCB etching
02:46:41 <arch> waaaay better than those chinese perfboards
02:46:46 <arch> very very quiet designs
02:47:46 <rust_collector> Lord_of_nothing, just start doing it, you will learn in no time
02:49:23 <Lord_of_nothing> i want buy a LED Pannel therei guess i must solder
02:49:48 <arch> LED string?
02:49:56 <Lord_of_nothing> pannel
02:50:01 <Lord_of_nothing> and Kapton Tape
02:50:30 <K> Al Kaptone
02:51:39 <arch> ok, i think i know why i got so much pitting in that PCB. i used a batch of used ferric chloride + hcl, so now i have a mix of cucl1, cucl2, fecl2, and fecl3. so i had to leave that in the bath too long, and little patches of copper got taken out due to excess time spent in there
02:52:16 <arch> and i haven't oxidized the cucl1 to cucl2, so it's a weak etchant right now. fuck. i need to get an air pump
02:54:40 * arch puts K inside a hot water bath
