04:55:03 <TheeGravedigger> more useful than darkness,
04:55:17 <TheeGravedigger> for a mad bomber anyways
04:55:25 <Spaceshot_note> Yea but death knell is on the evil side of things
04:55:44 <Bloodlust> and most tieflings are sweethearts ;)
04:55:53 <TheeGravedigger> how is it evil?
04:56:04 <Spaceshot_note> No, but pfs requires a bit of finesse
04:56:22 <Spaceshot_note> You're killing someone who is already incapacitated
04:56:25 <Bloodlust> "Evil" is very subjective.
04:56:27 <TheeGravedigger> Anyways, Tiefling witch or magus would get an additional spell per day over a tengu built with the same point spread.
04:56:30 <Spaceshot_note> That too
04:56:59 <Spaceshot_note> They probably would, but I'm going aldori kensai
04:57:06 <Bloodlust> Take for example a Paladin who uses sleep/paralysis poison to take down his foes.
04:57:16 <Spaceshot_note> Tengu allows for a weapon master dip for more ac
04:57:26 <TheeGravedigger> I'm confusing death kneel vs deathwatch
04:57:29 <Bloodlust> One small nick and it's nighty-night and off to the magistrate
04:57:37 <Spaceshot_note> You probably are
04:57:56 <Bloodlust> As opposed to brutally hacking someone to death with a flaming two-handed sword
04:57:56 <TheeGravedigger> disable device might have been my reasoning.
04:57:57 Spaceshot_note has quit (EOF from client)
04:58:06 <Spaceshot_note> Paladins can't use poisons
04:58:16 <Spaceshot_note> In their code
04:58:22 <Bloodlust> precisely, because they are "evil"
04:58:28 <TheeGravedigger> We've had that arguement before.
04:58:55 <Bloodlust> I think poisons are the most merciful thing ever invented for combat
04:58:57 <TheeGravedigger> far as I recall, there was something about paladians with racial poison being allowed to use it.
04:59:05 <Spaceshot_note> Paladins probably shouldn't be hacking humanoids to death
04:59:15 <TheeGravedigger> and really, you don't call it poison, you call it Anesthetic.
04:59:23 <Bloodlust> lol\
05:00:21 <Spaceshot_note> Just because people do things, doesn't mean the flavour of the options taken agree with them
05:00:30 <Bloodlust> I once had a DM (back in the way we called them that kiddies) argue that the very premise of "adventuring" was an evil act. Breaking an entering into the homes of intelligent/sentient beings, often surrounded by their family and loved ones - hacking them to death and stealing their life savings.
05:01:02 <Spaceshot_note> I still prefer DM, others just don't
05:01:09 <Bloodlust> Don't even start on the killing of their kids
05:01:18 <Steven> yeah good ole GM/DM discussion
05:01:53 <TheeGravedigger> "It's anesthetic and antiseptic. I'm preemptively treating the wounds as I cause them."
05:02:07 <Spaceshot_note> That is ransacking, not adventuring
05:02:11 <TheeGravedigger> "The sooner you surrender, the sooner I can finish this first aid."
05:02:23 <Spaceshot_note> That won't fly and you know it
05:03:20 <Bloodlust> Paladin: "Ahh but they are evil goblins!" DM: "They were sitting at home playing dice when you bust in. What crimes have they committed? What evidence do you have? Guilt by racial association means death? How many evil humans are their Mr Holier-than-thou? Suicide time yet?"
05:03:23 <TheeGravedigger> it's worth taking down to Seattle and running there.
05:03:44 <TheeGravedigger> Just to watch Kyle's head explode.
05:04:55 <Steven> yeah good ole head explode of kyle.
05:05:01 <Spaceshot_note> Paladins should be against blatant killing
05:05:25 <Bloodlust> DM: "They were screaming 'I surrender, please don't kill my babies' the whole time!" Paladin: "They were?" DM: "Yes, in goblin - their native and only language. You speak that, right?"
05:06:45 <TheeGravedigger> Our Oracle has tongues, so he literally can't surrender in combat.
05:07:10 <Bloodlust> Best and only way to play a Paladin, "Bishop Poobar has sent me on this holy quest. I do not seek to understand all of the ways of my deity. In time the blessing of understanding will come. For now I am a solider in a holy crusade and follow my orders".
05:07:15 <Bloodlust> LIKE A NAZI lol
05:07:52 <Bloodlust> Oracles with tongues crack me up
05:08:11 <TheeGravedigger> why?
05:08:15 <Bloodlust> They remind me of that scene in Team America: World Police, when he is trying to give the signal
05:08:44 <Spaceshot_note> Haha, I like deaf, also has it's times
05:09:06 <Bloodlust> "Fireball incoming, everyone DUCK"
05:10:53 <Bloodlust> avatar!!!!
05:11:04 <Bloodlust> Everyone else who lives in Australia!!!!
05:11:09 <Bloodlust> Chopper Read is DEAD!
05:11:27 <Steven> who/what is chopper read
05:11:31 <Spaceshot_note> I know
05:11:46 <Spaceshot_note> Famous convic who turned good
05:12:05 <Bloodlust> He never turned good
05:12:23 <Spaceshot_note> Famous enough to have a comedian imitate him by using his persona
05:12:32 <Bloodlust> lol Eric Bana
05:12:43 <Spaceshot_note> He did, he stopped crime
05:12:51 <Bloodlust> He stopped being AS bad
05:12:57 <Spaceshot_note> I'm talking heath Franklin
05:13:00 <Bloodlust> and still lived off the proceeds of his crimes
05:13:15 <Bloodlust> That's not turning "good".
05:13:35 <Spaceshot_note> Eh, each to their own. Have you seen "good" pathfinders
05:13:47 <Bloodlust> my first character
05:13:50 <Bloodlust> he was a Paladin
05:14:08 Spaceshot_note ([email protected]) has joined #d&d
05:14:14 <Steven> I've never built a paladin... im way to LE to be able to do it.
05:14:18 <Bloodlust> tried to negotiate combats, work out ways that everyone would get some of what hey wanted
05:14:34 <Spaceshot_note> Bet that worked out well in pfs
05:14:40 <Bloodlust> nope
05:14:51 <Steven> i have a paladin designed.
05:14:53 <Bloodlust> other players got pissed off because it would dip into the gold total
05:15:03 <Spaceshot_note> Really?
05:15:07 <Spaceshot_note> Haha
05:15:21 <Bloodlust> "we want max gold - fuck it - kill them all!"
05:15:23 <Steven> he would be rediculous in any scenario with evil outsiders.
05:15:45 <Bloodlust> evil outsiders don't get bargained with - they get ganked
05:16:37 <Steven> the paladin was basically if you were an evil outsider, I hit you, i intimidate you, you become shaken, sickened, and Nauseated.
05:16:39 <TheeGravedigger> during a couple of our missions, we've let most of the enemy live.
05:16:44 <Spaceshot_note> So many people who are good decide to just go guns blazing and kill everyone
05:16:56 <Steven> so -4 to attack and saves and can only take a move action... yay!
05:17:05 <Bloodlust> example: Stupid NPC has lost 200 gold gambling the night before and now the guy had come to collect his money or the horse and cart he owned (which we needed for our scenario). The rest of the party just wanted to kill the collector, grab the drunk dude and hiw cart and leave.
05:17:31 <Spaceshot_note> Which was funny playing fangwood keep with a paly
05:17:43 <Spaceshot_note> In decisions he was always quiet
05:18:21 <Bloodlust> Players want max gold and screw the NPCs - kill 'em all and get our missions done!
05:18:36 <Bloodlust> Faction missions were the worst.
05:18:47 <TheeGravedigger> why would you kill the npcs?
05:18:53 <Steven> OH! i forgot my rage prophet character is level 7 and gets their first level in rage prophet! gotta update
05:19:22 <Bloodlust> Taldan woman: "Why did you kill my beautiful boy? He was no threat to you!" Taldan PC: "Yeah sorry lady - faction mission!"
05:20:10 <Spaceshot_note> Meh, I don't want to get into faction/secondary missions
05:20:38 <Spaceshot_note> One told you can't succeed without the right skill/s, the other one is hidden till then end
05:20:57 <Bloodlust> The fact that we have no idea what these secondary missions are is a ball-buster
05:21:29 <Bloodlust> faction missions rewarded skill monkeys and punished people who played the base classes
05:21:37 <Bloodlust> fighters most of all
05:21:54 <TheeGravedigger> Yea, that's why you build up a couple of nice skill monkeys.
05:22:14 <Spaceshot_note> I don't like not knowing the secondary missions. It's like we're meant to go out of our way to do stupid things or outrageous things
05:22:21 <TheeGravedigger> +11 to all knowledge checks is pretty decent.
05:22:25 <Bloodlust> indeed
05:23:02 <Bloodlust> secondary objectives should be told at the start so people can work towards them. They are better than faction missions because it is a team effort, not individual.
05:23:05 <TheeGravedigger> That's why I love the Mindchemist.
05:23:53 <Spaceshot_note> I'd prefer it to either to blatently told, or even just hinted at and to be s mystery to unravel
05:24:05 <TheeGravedigger> I only play pfs with a team, so we already treat them as a team effort.
05:24:37 <Bloodlust> Apparently we have to be "good guys" now. It even says in the society field guide that the PFS is not a "good" organisation
05:25:07 <Steven> the Pathfinder Society is actually becoming slightly more good aligned with every season.
05:25:28 <Bloodlust> If anything it should be base don the principles of "explore, cooperate. report"
05:25:57 <Spaceshot_note> Especially with the whole trying to close the worldwound and rid golarion of demons
05:26:14 <Bloodlust> Nah, a True neutral person would be up for that
05:26:47 <Bloodlust> heck a CE person would as well (or whatever the opposite alignment of the WW is). can't have the other bad guys getting the upper hand
05:26:49 <Spaceshot_note> Up for it? Sure, make it their soul mission? Probably not
05:27:11 <Bloodlust> I usually play true neutral PCs but my version is 100% self-centred
05:27:38 <Bloodlust> Not to the point of killing that kid for his apple because I wouldn't mind an apple
05:27:51 <Spaceshot_note> And those characters don't make many friends
05:28:01 <Bloodlust> PFS isn't about making friends
05:28:12 <Bloodlust> you typically have a different set of operatives each mission
05:28:17 <Spaceshot_note> Then you're doing it wrong
05:28:26 <TheeGravedigger> Eh, I play PFS with my buddy Joe, and sometimes another friend of ours.
05:28:35 <Bloodlust> Other operatives like going on missions with you because you are effective, not because they "like you"
05:28:36 <TheeGravedigger> so we're 1/3 to 1/2 a table.
05:29:01 <Bloodlust> I'm talking characters, not players here
05:29:04 <TheeGravedigger> And we've got our bases covered, because we play PFS when we're taking a break from shadowrun. Black Trenchcoat Shadowrun.
05:29:11 <Spaceshot_note> I've made a good number of friends by playing pfs, and our characters click too
05:29:19 <Steven> so what weapon you guys think i should use for my rage prophet.
05:29:22 <Spaceshot_note> Except the wayang, he was not prepared
05:29:33 <Spaceshot_note> Kukri for lels
05:29:38 <Steven> two handed or sword and board?
05:29:48 <TheeGravedigger> I doubt my buddy's oracle would function without my character there.
05:29:51 <Bloodlust> I tend to find that players click and therefore their characters do.
05:29:52 <Steven> im too feat taxed to go into two weapon sadly.
05:30:17 <Spaceshot_note> I didn't say multiple, just a kukri
05:30:23 <TheeGravedigger> eh, I've played games with people I liked and had characters who couldn't get along.
05:30:26 <Bloodlust> I never understood rage prophets
05:30:39 <TheeGravedigger> though not pfs.
05:31:13 <Bloodlust> I've played with folks I can't stand but their characters are effective so my PC would want to go on missions with them because they make the job safer.
05:31:24 <Spaceshot_note> I've seen the same thing. I believe I've only played in a few non-pfs games
05:31:26 <Steven> its basically a barbarian that can cast divine spells.
05:31:35 <Spaceshot_note> Usually I'm DMing
05:31:36 <Bloodlust> why would you want that?
05:32:14 <Steven> because they can cast cure spells on themselves
05:32:18 <Spaceshot_note> Because if he went metal he gets an additional +10ft move speed
05:32:27 <TheeGravedigger> I can't stand Jason's sociopathic serial killer character, but he's part of the team, so my robin hood conman has to work with him.
05:33:28 <Spaceshot_note> I'd like to play or run a shadowrun game, though everyone I know who would play is so damn lazy
05:33:30 <Steven> eventually my character can use moment of clarity to add my cha AND con to the save DC of a spell.
05:33:47 <Steven> and since those are the two stats im buffing... its pretty good.
05:33:50 <Bloodlust> I like dipping in inquisitor so I can catch heal spells/use wands for bruisers
05:34:01 <TheeGravedigger> our shadowrun team is scary.
05:35:20 <Bloodlust> I was never a fan of shadowrun - preferred Cyberpunk (more realistic)
05:36:33 <Yiroep> So, if your character has Lifesense, does everyone look naked to you when you can't see otherwise?
05:36:40 <Steven> dropped me... balls
05:36:52 <TheeGravedigger> We've taken insurance fraud, as a street knowledge, after we committed it twice during unrelated runs.
05:38:23 <Steven> just need to pick the feat
05:41:00 <TheeGravedigger> it's a karma-based system, there are no feats. :p
05:41:05 <Spaceshot_note> So far it's 10,18,12,14,14,8 as tengu for my aldori kensai
05:44:09 <Steven> yeah my Rage prophet has the haunted curse,
05:44:50 <Steven> for a barbarian power it picked up the Spirit totem
05:45:08 <Steven> so when i rage the spirits manafest and attempt to hit people at +10 for 1d4+5 damage lol
05:45:17 <Steven> for as long as im raging
05:46:46 <Bloodlust> invulnerable?
05:47:02 <Steven> nah savage warrior
05:47:09 <Steven> no armor
05:48:36 <Bloodlust> why not the extra DR?
05:49:30 <Steven> because its not enough to really make a difference
05:50:38 <Bloodlust> wow, thought that was the way to go
05:55:22 <Steven> i like uncanny dodge waaaaaaaaaaaaay to much
06:06:53 <Steven> i'm basically gonna just buy a wand of Mage Armor and i'll have around a 30ac as a barb with no armor on.
06:07:07 <TheeGravedigger> fun!
06:08:34 <Steven> should be pretty funny.
06:13:48 <Steven> gonna target the person with no armor roll to hit... i get a 25.... MISSES BITCH!
06:14:53 <Philderbeast> taking UMB?
06:14:57 <Philderbeast> UMD even?
06:15:04 <Philderbeast> or getting somone else to use it
06:15:23 <Spaceshot_note> Thinking that for my aldori kensai, because I think they have mage armour on spell list
06:15:33 <Steven> +15 umd
06:15:54 <Philderbeast> that will do it
06:16:02 <Philderbeast> its dc 20?
06:16:09 <Steven> only gonna get better as i level up
06:18:31 <Philderbeast> so how do you start that at level one
06:18:39 <Philderbeast> oracal or barb?
06:18:46 <Steven> who said im level 1... and its acutally not hard
06:19:11 <Philderbeast> im just thinking if i was starting a char with that in mind
06:23:32 <Avatar> what
06:25:45 <Philderbeast> i need to work on how my DD will level up at some stage
06:30:42 <Yiroep> LOL.
06:35:11 <Steven> so im thinkin....
06:36:17 <Steven> with all the buffs i can cast right now, 30AC at level 7 with no armor
06:37:01 <Philderbeast> thats just insane
06:37:22 <Steven> with spells i could get higher.
06:38:01 <Philderbeast> hmmm i wonder if its worth buying a mithril andgile brestplate for my cleric....
06:38:41 <Philderbeast> or is it just a waste of gold....
06:41:31 <Steven> depends on whatcha do with your cleric.
06:41:50 <Philderbeast> i havent really decided... but i think she is headed down the buff bot route
06:41:51 <Philderbeast> a
06:41:52 <Philderbeast> 07:19 <@Avatar> lesser restoration
06:42:54 <Spaceshot_note> I said lesser restoration way before he did
06:43:02 <Spaceshot_note> Where is my credit
06:43:05 <Philderbeast> yea hit the wrong button
06:43:13 <Steven> it was overshadowed
06:43:42 <Spaceshot_note> T_T
06:49:04 <Philderbeast> and im not preparing it
06:49:14 <Philderbeast> 3 roud cast time is a killer on it
06:59:38 <Steven> im thinkin scyth
07:00:28 <Steven> scythe even
07:04:01 <Steven> a +1 Furious Scythe

07:37:37 <Mekkis> !spell nondetection
07:37:39 <diebot> Mekkis, NONDETECTION abjuration ([]) ranger 4, sorcerer/wizard 3, alchemist 3, summoner 3, inquisitor 3, antipaladin 3 1 standard action Range: touch creature or object touched Comp: V, S, M (diamond dust worth 50 gp) Duration: 1 hour/level Save: Will negates (harmless, object) SR:yes (harmless, object)Source: PFRPG Core
07:37:40 <diebot> The warded creature or object becomes difficult to detect by divination spells such as clairaudience/clairvoyance, locate object, and detect spells. Nondetection also prevents location by such magic items as crystal balls. If a divination is attempted against the warded creature or item, the caster of the divination must succeed on a caster level
07:37:40 <diebot> check (1d20 + caster level) against a DC of 11 + the caster level of the spellcaster who cast nondetection. If you cast nondetection on yourself or on an item currently in your possession, the DC is 15 + your caster level. If cast on a creature, nondetection wards the creature's gear as well as the creature itself.
