00:02:50 <Ysjoelfir> so... I hate the word "selfie".... now I was in need of a photo printer. the one I got is named "Selphy" >_>
00:07:27 <K> uh, aren't the supplies for it cray-cray expensive?
00:08:05 <K> that name rang a bell like that in me head
00:09:06 <Ysjoelfir> its ok. the print quality is VERY good and the price is with roughly 25 cents per photo not much more expensive than going to the shop and let them make it in good quality.
00:09:39 <T3sl4> so, yes
00:09:42 <T3sl4> also, mornin
00:10:04 <K> t0sler
00:11:01 <T3sl4> kali
00:11:49 <Ysjoelfir> Well, its not cheap, indeed. But its still one of the cheapest photo printers with one of the best quality prints. it is dye sublimation printing, not that zink shit
00:12:33 <T3sl4> neat
00:14:26 <K> prolly is less hasle in present situation
00:15:13 <Ysjoelfir> i think techmoan made a video on these recently?
00:15:46 <Ysjoelfir> yep. on the polaroid one though, which should cost ~tripple that of the canons consumables-. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5t0f1RZYTg
00:15:46 <K> yea

00:55:12 <Ysjoelfir> So I was running around the room, searching for what smelled to me like burnt electronics.
00:55:24 <Ysjoelfir> found out that its the smell of new Canon Selphy printer PSU.
00:57:05 <Ysjoelfir> nope it was not
00:57:49 <Ysjoelfir> it was that cheap 5V 2.5A PSU I have on my desk. wanted to charge my watch, touched it and it is fucking hot as hell, without even having anything connected to it
00:59:29 <Ampera> Ysjoelfir, I can top that
00:59:36 <Ampera> my dad's UPS just burst into proper flames
00:59:52 <Ysjoelfir> nice
01:00:33 <T3sl4> lovely
01:00:43 <T3sl4> i bet it has as much EMI as it does temperature :)
01:04:00 <Ampera> aye
01:07:20 <K> ups.
01:11:27 <Ampera> downs.

01:38:56 <T3sl4> crisped up in a frying pan
01:40:18 * Ysjoelfir has aftermorning pita with sweet potato, regular potato, avocado mush, feta, chickpeas and corn
01:40:37 <Ampera> sounds like ass, hope you like it
01:40:46 <Ysjoelfir> I do
01:40:58 <Ampera> there we have it, it's official
01:41:02 <Ampera> Ysjoelfir eats ass
01:41:09 <Ysjoelfir> yes. painfull.
01:41:16 <Ampera> lol
01:46:23 <T3sl4> i love it when chickpeas on my face

01:47:59 <K> contain yourself.
01:48:15 * T3sl4 's magnetic field stretches
01:58:08 * Ysjoelfir searches for the Mu-metal
02:03:29 <T3sl4> yes daddy
02:03:49 <Ysjoelfir> huh?
02:03:58 <T3sl4> i mean what?
02:07:07 <T3sl4> and now, for a coffee
02:12:17 <Ysjoelfir> no. tea.
02:18:30 <T3sl4> also a fine choice
02:44:17 <T3sl4> oh wow, i just discovered you can change the font size in altium model viewer, by holding MOUSE1 and MWHEELUP/DOWNing
02:45:12 <Ysjoelfir> whats the model viewer?

02:49:39 <Ysjoelfir> you use that? I think I have never heard of anyone using simulation in altium
02:50:44 <T3sl4> it is... possible
02:51:04 <T3sl4> they're putting in big changes in AD21, 22 tho
02:52:46 <T3sl4> thefuck, this diode-strapped PNP is dropping two more volts than it should
02:52:56 <T3sl4> i gotta check this model separately. grr
02:53:58 <Ysjoelfir> "possible" sounds pretty much like what I heard how it is :P
02:54:27 <Ysjoelfir> I have to admit though that I would love to have a way to simulate in AD, since I absolutely hate the UI of LTSpice
02:54:33 <Ysjoelfir> and can't afford pspice
02:55:15 <T3sl4> i want the integration of spice with the schematic i'm actually making
02:55:53 <T3sl4> it's... basic XSPICE more or less, with a few extensions to support some PSPICE things for instance
02:56:06 <T3sl4> the main problem is there's no postprocessing to speak of
02:56:42 <T3sl4> AC analysis is particularly dumb, you can only apply basic arithmetic functions in the curve view
02:57:17 <Ysjoelfir> This is the reason why I would love to use that function > [16:55:14] <T3sl4> i want the integration of spice with the schematic i'm actually making
02:59:14 <T3sl4> ohhhh, theres the dumb
02:59:21 <T3sl4> helps to diode-strap a transistor B-C, not B-E
03:00:24 <Ysjoelfir> well.... :P
03:15:16 <K> (joke about strap-ons)
03:15:22 <Ysjoelfir> lol
03:26:24 <rust_collector> MORNINGS!
03:27:43 <T3sl4> hrm, i suppose they are

03:28:43 <T3sl4> hrm, we had one of those around here
03:28:55 <T3sl4> she was a mother of an 'ore
03:49:28 <rust_collector> good night
03:49:36 <Ysjoelfir> now?
03:49:55 <rust_collector> yep. going to wörk
03:50:29 <rust_collector> must find the car before I leave, so it could take a while
03:50:52 <Ysjoelfir> lol^^

09:48:29 <rc-bicycle> i hope i will be this late tomorrow as well, because i think i will be hungry around that time
09:48:59 <Ysjoelfir> xD
09:49:54 <Ysjoelfir> mrs. merkel just announced the new corona.... lockdown things. nothing new here
09:50:03 <Ampera> I was about to kick him before I realized I know who that is
09:50:16 <Ysjoelfir> lol, why?
09:50:35 <rc-bicycle> i usually do this trip without a break. not going to happen today. someone is plowing pschnow very slowly
09:51:17 <rc-bicycle> Ampera is just being aggressive to indian students
09:52:15 <rc-bicycle> so lockdown... with no changes, that is interesting
09:52:26 <Ysjoelfir> is he?^^ also, I also want that schnow thing
09:53:26 <rc-bicycle> yep, it is nice. i just hope it stays cold-isha
09:53:28 <Ysjoelfir> nope, not much new here. we're not allowed to use regular cloth masks anymore and need to buy "real" masks now, we are once again being told that we need to do more home office, schools and childcare are still not closed because politicians still thing that children are basically sterile entities, and thats basically it.
09:54:26 <rc-bicycle> ok, have you figured out which politician ot is, that import masks?
09:55:37 <rc-bicycle> i guess this is the time when hardbass will go big in grrmany
09:55:43 <Ysjoelfir> all of them, sadly. well, except from the hard right ones, they are against everything

09:57:07 <rc-bicycle> hmm, i guess it is something to do
09:57:21 <Ampera> not that it's spectacularly well done, but I drew all of it
09:57:35 <Ampera> electrohead, might be interested in that
09:57:49 <Ampera> Samsung has a fairly easy to use editor for custom watch faces
09:58:23 <Ampera> it's supposed to look like a VFD sort of
09:58:34 <rc-bicycle> so, it is all screen, and put whatever you want anywhere?
09:58:49 <Ampera> sorta
09:59:06 <rc-bicycle> mmkay
10:00:17 <rc-bicycle> i wonder where my watch is
10:01:09 <rc-bicycle> i think it is in the attic, with my dads pipe, and some other stuff

10:05:58 <Ampera> besides renew them a few weeks ago, no
10:05:59 <Ampera> why
10:06:05 <electrohead> "Could not verify this certificate because the issuer is unknown"
10:06:14 <Ampera> could be your root certs are out of date
10:06:31 <Ampera> I know the intermediate for letsencrypt expired recently
10:06:40 <Ampera> but the new one should be included
10:07:32 <Ampera> the root cert is valid until september though

12:43:40 <MrMobodies> Hello
12:46:51 <rust_collector> mornings
12:47:18 <steve30> hi
12:48:00 <rust_collector> aaah, best time to get home. time for leftover substance with calories and coffee
12:49:09 <steve30> YouTube keeps wanting me to watch a video called "What You Shouldn’t Put Up Your Vagina "
12:49:24 <rust_collector> uhm
12:50:04 <rust_collector> I sort of... eeh, I guess that does not have much to do with your search history
12:51:20 <rust_collector> I should make a video "120 things you should not stink into your pee hole"
12:51:31 <rust_collector> stick
12:51:57 <steve30> hehe
12:52:35 <MrMobodies> I have a switch I was looking at to use for something last night
12:52:45 <MrMobodies> I noticed it was getting so hot
12:52:56 <MrMobodies> and drawing 18 watts with nothing connected
12:53:04 <MrMobodies> it is a HP Procurve
12:53:10 <rust_collector> a network switch, or a light switch, or?
12:53:12 <MrMobodies> I thought something wasn't right
12:53:13 <rust_collector> oh
12:53:14 <MrMobodies> network switch
12:53:19 <MrMobodies> 24 port with 2 gigabit
12:53:36 <MrMobodies> anyway I opened it and caps look fine but I fitted a fan
12:53:37 <MrMobodies> https://imgur.com/a/xeb2dmg
12:53:46 <rust_collector> you don't need one more of those, do you?
12:53:47 <MrMobodies> but it still getting extremely hot
12:53:59 <MrMobodies> and where it is getting hot is the power supply
12:54:29 <MrMobodies> so i connected up a LiShin 12v as it is 12v and drawing 15w which is still a bit high
12:54:33 <rust_collector> well, that is good, I guess. even it it could be bad.
12:54:36 <MrMobodies> I got many switches
12:54:50 <MrMobodies> I want to move all the slow speed stuff to that switch
12:54:59 <rust_collector> wait, those things run on 12v?
12:55:05 <MrMobodies> that one does
12:55:13 <rust_collector> hm, interesting
12:55:17 <MrMobodies> and I had a 12v 130ma fan that fits
12:55:25 <MrMobodies> I know the others seem to use 5v
12:56:02 <MrMobodies> but I found another
12:56:08 <MrMobodies> and it only draws about 12w
12:56:15 <MrMobodies> 48 ports plus 4 gigabit ports
12:56:25 <rust_collector> so.... what happens if you power up the power, not connected to anything?. can you see/feel where it is getting hot?
12:56:46 <MrMobodies> when it was in the rack
12:56:52 <MrMobodies> I could feel it on the left
12:56:58 <MrMobodies> directly under the power supply
12:57:12 <MrMobodies> when I opened it warm that was the hottest
12:57:25 <MrMobodies> so maybe the caps on there or on th eboard need replacing
12:57:30 <rust_collector> yes, I mean, just the power supply on its own.
12:57:35 <MrMobodies> yes
12:57:53 <MrMobodies> I plugged in a LiShin 12V 5a into that wago strip
12:57:57 <MrMobodies> and it was drawing 15w
12:58:00 <MrMobodies> 3w less
12:58:10 Quit: Dude ([email protected]) Ping timeout: 121 seconds
12:58:11 <MrMobodies> which is still I think high with nothing connected
12:58:29 <rust_collector> i don't know what that kind of thing is supposed to draw
12:59:57 <MrMobodies> lets seejust finding out
13:00:35 <rust_collector> i have no idea, but I guess 15-ish watts COULD be right, for all I know
13:01:29 <MrMobodies> 24w maximum worst case
13:01:36 <MrMobodies> but nothing was connected
13:01:44 <MrMobodies> only one cable when I was setting it up
13:02:00 <MrMobodies> "Maximum power rating is the worst-case theoretical maximum power
13:02:00 <MrMobodies> number with fully loaded PoE, 100% traffic, all ports plugged in, and
13:02:01 <MrMobodies> all modules populated."
13:02:15 <MrMobodies> I'd expect much less than that
13:02:19 <rust_collector> i would think they had a "power at idle" rating... hmm
13:12:35 <MrMobodies> https://imgur.com/a/FZBLpUH
13:13:44 <rust_collector> but what if you disconnect the power supply, what does that draw on its own?
13:17:50 <MrMobodies> okay I'll look at that
13:17:56 <MrMobodies> but here is the Dlink one i found
13:17:57 <MrMobodies> https://imgur.com/a/KtlUw7o
13:18:03 <MrMobodies> 12.5w idle

13:21:26 <rust_collector> well, it is in the same area, I guess. not that much difference
13:23:02 <rust_collector> wow, the tractor guy managed to plow the road before it melted. that is a new idea
13:28:59 <MrMobodies> https://imgur.com/a/BikC259
13:30:38 <MrMobodies> with nothing connected; built in 12v 2.5a: 3.7w LiShin 12v 5a: 1.4w
13:30:56 <MrMobodies> so there is a difference
13:31:26 <rust_collector> yes, but if that means anything is wrong, of if it is just different....
13:31:55 <MrMobodies> that DPSN-30BP draws more than half than that LSE9901B1260
13:32:19 <MrMobodies> different is interesting but getting boiling hot can't be right
13:32:35 <MrMobodies> I am going put that away and order some capacitors
13:32:57 <MrMobodies> It does have large heatsinks in there maybe that is the difference
13:33:01 <rust_collector> yes, but they are not the same, so who knows? I think I would leave the oroginal power plugged in for a while, and see what part of it gets hot
13:33:28 <MrMobodies> I did, it is the power supply
13:33:36 <MrMobodies> it is heating up a lot
13:33:42 <rust_collector> yes, but what part of the power supply?
13:33:59 <MrMobodies> it is the metal bits
13:34:04 <MrMobodies> where the regulators are on
13:34:16 <MrMobodies> when I opened the lid
13:34:22 <rust_collector> well, that is good. I guess. and nothing else?
13:34:23 <MrMobodies> I'll measure it again later
13:34:31 <MrMobodies> maybe it is designed to do that
13:34:36 <MrMobodies> but the power supply maybe struggling
13:34:48 <rust_collector> yep
13:34:53 <MrMobodies> I'll do some further testing later with the other one
13:37:47 <MrMobodies> I have another question
13:37:56 <MrMobodies> when I was fitting that external power supply
13:38:03 <MrMobodies> I was going to use a similar one with a DIN connector
13:38:09 <MrMobodies> same model
13:38:29 <MrMobodies> 2 positive terminals, 2 negative terminals, one drain wire and braiding
13:42:18 <MrMobodies> https://imgur.com/a/PlCQwTM
13:42:55 <MrMobodies> the drain wire is connected to the negative and the earth at the back
13:43:17 <MrMobodies> the others are grounded too with the earthing plate but don't do that
13:43:29 <MrMobodies> is that normal?
13:44:43 <rust_collector> eeeh. i dunno? I am not even sure what a drain wire is
13:44:58 <MrMobodies> just the screening
13:45:10 <MrMobodies> where it connects the earth/ground
13:45:17 <rust_collector> ah
13:45:42 <MrMobodies> and the negative seems electrically connected
13:46:21 <MrMobodies> Someone was telling be about negative and positive ground reference when showing me his lab power supply
13:46:31 <MrMobodies> I didn't think it would have anything to do with that
13:46:53 <rust_collector> hmm. I think that could be correct. I can see what it is on this power supply I have here
13:47:15 <MrMobodies> so that is what ground reference is
13:48:41 <MrMobodies> so if I open the unit I am thinking can I disconnect the ground reference to the negative without causing a problem
13:49:14 <MrMobodies> I would have to desolder the grounding board and trace it I suppose
13:49:27 <MrMobodies> I mean the others are identical except for the extra cables
13:51:38 <rust_collector> I think you are correct.
13:52:03 <rust_collector> (but I don't know anything, and it is 4 in the morning, after work lol)
13:52:44 <rust_collector> what did that din plug thing come from?
14:11:33 <MrMobodies> on the power supply
14:11:38 <MrMobodies> I chopped it off
14:12:03 <rust_collector> yes, but what was it used for, before?
14:12:16 <MrMobodies> I think it was used for cameras
14:12:41 <rust_collector> ok. I guess it looks cameraish
14:12:43 <MrMobodies> I read something about it being ordered with different options
14:12:53 <MrMobodies> they also use them for monitors
14:12:57 <MrMobodies> and tin terminals
14:13:08 <MrMobodies> Wyse I think
14:14:25 <MrMobodies> https://www.ebay.ie/itm/Genuine-Original-Li-Shin-Wyse-WT9450XE-Thin-Client-AC-Adapter-Power-Supply-PSU-/361467889684
14:14:29 <rust_collector> oh well, as long as you can chop it off
14:16:33 <MrMobodies> oh tvs
14:16:34 <MrMobodies> http://www.savingology.com/LI-SHIN-Original-0226B24160-24V-6-67A-160W-Adapter-p/yd-li-shin-0226b24160.htm
14:16:49 <MrMobodies> well I kept it for something like this
14:16:56 <MrMobodies> until I discovered the voltage ground thing
14:18:32 <rust_collector> it is hard to have too many power supplies
14:19:13 <steve30> Audacity takes a long time to start up on this modern PC
14:19:32 <rust_collector> well, use an older pc?
14:19:46 <rust_collector> is it slow every time?
14:20:39 <rust_collector> it is probably connecting to the server in ireland, which connects to the server in india, that no one knows what does
14:23:10 <MrMobodies> It is nice when I have many that i know is going to be reliable and I can open them ip
14:23:11 <MrMobodies> https://imgur.com/a/pCYN4aQ
14:23:27 <MrMobodies> Audacity taking too long?
14:23:49 <MrMobodies> I haven't used it in years but I remembere it taking seconds when I last used it
14:26:04 <rust_collector> is it set to check for updated on startup, and get album information, and lyrics and cover art and stuff?
14:26:26 <MrMobodies> I see
14:26:37 <MrMobodies> I never had mine do that
14:26:43 <rust_collector> No, I am asking
14:26:52 <MrMobodies> oh sorry
14:27:09 <rust_collector> you never know with these software things

15:49:43 <steve30> Coffee time.
16:17:05 <rust_collector> YES!
16:19:58 <rust_collector> prfft. I just got back inside. coffee sounds right
16:21:10 <rust_collector> I "had to" remove some snow, for all the neighbors, because they do not seem to understand that it is a bit more work, after they have driven across it 11 times
16:23:19 <steve30> Coffee was nice :)
16:23:29 <rust_collector> yes, it was
16:23:35 <steve30> I think I'll go out to the shop this morning, since I didn't go yesterday or the day before
16:23:56 <rust_collector> I was at the shop... uhm. don't remember

17:15:12 <MrMobodies> I don't know what to believe anymore
17:25:43 <MrMobodies> I just measured the Procurve switch without the fan that I fitted running
17:25:45 <MrMobodies> https://imgur.com/a/rqDj00Z
17:30:30 <MrMobodies> with the fan running:
17:30:30 <MrMobodies> https://imgur.com/a/4gbeIqP
17:30:39 <MrMobodies> and it brings the temperature down by about 10c
17:31:00 <MrMobodies> I think I am going to remove that power supply and fit a 12v jack in the back.
17:31:14 <MrMobodies> then that should run a lot of cooler
17:32:25 <rust_collector> maybe. but is that anything to worry about? if it stays at those temps, it should be fine, I guess
17:33:15 <rust_collector> I wonder what voltage it really runs at. is it 3.3 and 1.something?
17:36:36 <rust_collector> aaaaah.... kids. lovely things.

17:46:09 <steve30> These scratch card bus tickets smell nice
17:46:34 <rust_collector> whaaaat?
17:46:58 <rust_collector> i have not seen scratch cards or bus tickets in many years
17:48:11 <steve30> They predominently use RFID cards and thermal printed tickets with QR codes now, but these were sent to me by the bus company for free as a 'good will gesture'. I guess scratch cards are more suited for that purpose.
17:52:19 <rust_collector> hmm, ok. I think we have rfid sort of cards, maybe, or just apps
17:52:50 <rust_collector> I don't really know if I can take the bus these days. I might have to but a new phone first
17:54:17 <MrMobodies> the power supply is 12v
17:54:35 <MrMobodies> I do know that the socket at the end that i was going to use for the fan is actualt 3.3v
17:55:12 <MrMobodies> I'd expect it to heat up if all ports were connected and under high load
17:55:14 <rust_collector> yes, but it connects to what I believe is 2 smaller power supplies on the board. so I guess it would have 2 or 3 voltages
17:55:31 <MrMobodies> I see step down
17:55:38 <rust_collector> probably
17:56:15 <MrMobodies> I want to use it but I am going to do away with that power supply and build something over the mains replicator to mount a DC jack
17:56:32 <MrMobodies> hoping it would run cooler
17:56:46 <MrMobodies> if the power supply is outside and it is only 12 2.5a needed
17:57:28 <MrMobodies> I'll put a nice little label 12v 2.5 sticker
17:57:52 <MrMobodies> I going to look for a piece of plastic to fit it
17:58:48 <MrMobodies> I had this in mind
17:58:49 <MrMobodies> https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Female-Rectangle-Socket-Male-Jack-Panel-Mount-DC-12V-Barrel-Plug-Power-Connect
17:59:16 <MrMobodies> and I got to put in an earthing screw too
17:59:38 <rust_collector> is that all of the link?
17:59:52 <MrMobodies> oh
17:59:59 <MrMobodies> https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/113682507027
18:00:01 <MrMobodies> sorry
18:00:26 <MrMobodies> I though I copied it correctly but was trying to shorten it with the item number
18:01:13 <rust_collector> I guess that would look neat
18:01:18 * steve30 away: grocery shopping
18:01:55 <rust_collector> going to the store and buy myself some coffee.... lalala lalala
18:02:21 <MrMobodies> I miss my coffee machine
18:02:27 <MrMobodies> it got missing during the
18:02:41 <MrMobodies> I think I mentioned before it was Toshiba Filtermill
18:02:47 <MrMobodies> with a built in grinder for the beans
18:02:56 <MrMobodies> and very hygenic and easy to clean
18:03:24 <MrMobodies> all the mess is contain in the grinding casket before it goes to the pot
18:03:48 <MrMobodies> I got it down a charity shop for a couple of pounds in 2010
18:03:52 <rust_collector> well, then what is the point? you need the correct kind of bacteria, to make good coffee. it is like cheese and mold and icky things
18:03:58 <MrMobodies> and I took everywhere with me
18:04:10 <rust_collector> travel coffee machine?
18:04:26 <MrMobodies> I took it to a Bathroom warehouse where i once worked

18:05:08 <MrMobodies> no mess or filters involved
18:05:29 <MrMobodies> just remove the casket and remove the lid and clean it out with a tap
18:05:45 <MrMobodies> in the casket there is a filter, with a blade ontop
18:06:00 <MrMobodies> and the cover has holes for the hot tap
18:06:17 <MrMobodies> now with some of the coffee machines I come across, I find it hard to clean
18:06:28 <MrMobodies> they have got these grooves in them where the paper filter goes
18:06:39 <MrMobodies> and if explodes and gets everywhere

18:11:16 <MrMobodies> made in Japan
18:12:02 <rust_collector> I think most toshiba things are pretty ok
18:12:53 <MrMobodies> I am going bid later for it
18:13:02 <MrMobodies> I don't think I'd win but worth a try
18:13:45 <rust_collector> well, I know people are weird, but there can not be THAT many people looking for old coffee machines
18:18:36 <MrMobodies> well it was the best one I had
18:18:41 <MrMobodies> when I had it
18:19:58 <rust_collector> sure. but I just do not think too many people are looking for them. it is not like the $30 ps5
18:20:49 <rust_collector> but, at least, if you get that one, you will find your old one in a box somewhere
18:21:03 <MrMobodies> https://i.imgur.com/cEmQ6bz.jpg
18:21:19 <MrMobodies> and that would mean I would have extra parts
18:21:34 <MrMobodies> that was in 2015 at a building firm
18:21:46 <MrMobodies> oh and the kettle in there is still with me today
18:21:57 <MrMobodies> a Graef Kasserwocher from Germany
18:22:06 <MrMobodies> with temperature control
18:22:55 <rust_collector> kasserwocher, eh?
18:27:23 <MrMobodies> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7jWUB0yKcw
18:27:32 <MrMobodies> I think it is a German name for a kettle
18:27:55 <MrMobodies> also very easy to clean
18:27:55 <rust_collector> wasserkocher yes.
18:28:08 <MrMobodies> it looks like I spelt it wrong
18:28:15 <rust_collector> lol, yep
18:29:03 <MrMobodies> In 2012 my parents went looking for a lettle, and they were told "ooh all kettles come from China now..." forget about forgein kettles
18:29:14 <MrMobodies> so they got this £40 thing that rusted leaked a year later
18:29:19 <MrMobodies> all plastic crap
18:29:25 <MrMobodies> the one after that
18:29:36 <MrMobodies> I wanted a glass one
18:29:40 <rust_collector> I do need a new kettle.... the one I have is actually not bad, but it takes ages to heat up
18:29:46 <MrMobodies> but I read reviews about the glass exploding
18:29:57 <MrMobodies> well that one is only a 2200w
18:30:02 <MrMobodies> but I don't mind waiting
18:30:13 <rust_collector> well, that is one of those things, sure it CAN happen. but...
18:30:14 <MrMobodies> it beeps when it is finished
18:30:30 <MrMobodies> I paid £90 for that one
18:30:36 <MrMobodies> in late 2013
18:30:42 <rust_collector> I bet most of the time, they don't explode
18:31:25 <MrMobodies> I think that something like this
18:31:26 <MrMobodies> https://www.amazon.co.uk/Russell-Hobbs-21600-10-Illuminating-Kettle/dp/B071X4RKZJ
18:31:30 <MrMobodies> but it had a wooden handle and lid
18:32:08 <rust_collector> I remember there was a thing about glass shower walls exploding a while ago. but I have not heard much about it after that
18:32:26 <MrMobodies> https://www.amazon.co.uk/Russell-Hobbs-Capacity-Descaler-13421-40/dp/B000T7UTDM
18:32:35 <rust_collector> oh good, you can put rgb leds in that
18:32:38 <MrMobodies> that was a similar one and straigh on the reviews
18:32:46 <MrMobodies> I think it might be blue I am not sure
18:33:22 <MrMobodies> I mean it looked really nice I don't want the chance of it exploding
18:33:42 <MrMobodies> not much plastic bits in that
18:34:25 <rust_collector> well, it is not like it is full of explosives, it will just shatter, and you have to mop up hot hater and glass
18:34:47 <rust_collector> I do not think it will blow a hole in your wall or anything
18:34:59 <MrMobodies> Maybe if I find a well used one on Ebay
18:35:09 <MrMobodies> it might not have that problem
18:35:30 <MrMobodies> if anything happened it wouldn't brokne before
18:36:20 <MrMobodies> nope can't find them on ebay
18:36:36 <MrMobodies> maybe that's why they all broke after a while
18:36:42 <MrMobodies> I mean shattered
18:37:35 <rust_collector> maybe, but probably not
18:37:51 <MrMobodies> well I got to go to bed soon
18:37:58 <MrMobodies> I'll bid for that thing later
18:38:09 <rust_collector> I think I will look for a plain stainless one. that is pretty safe
18:38:59 <rust_collector> I should go to bed too. the first kid already went to school.
18:39:50 <Halcyon> *yawns*
18:40:04 <rust_collector> yes, we are boring. get used to it
18:44:17 <Halcyon> I'm just tired
18:44:19 <Halcyon> You lot are fine
18:44:24 <Halcyon> I also ate too much
18:44:29 <rust_collector> oh, good
18:45:02 <rust_collector> eating waaay too much is nice. at least while you are doing it
18:48:06 <rust_collector> so, what is Halcyon doing today? going for a walk?
18:49:12 <Halcyon> I should, but no
18:49:18 <Halcyon> I've been up since 0400
18:49:25 <rust_collector> well...
18:49:40 <rust_collector> i have been up since 16.15
18:50:10 <rust_collector> which is probably the same time, just a different day
19:02:02 <rust_collector> Hmm, I think I will make some steel wheels for the snow blower. I do not really see much point in rubber tires on those
19:02:14 <Halcyon> Snow blower?
19:02:17 <Halcyon> Wheels?
19:02:33 <rust_collector> yes, I know. but it is a thing
19:02:38 <rust_collector> really
19:03:09 <Halcyon> Is it like a lawn mower but in reverse?
19:03:47 <rust_collector> https://overaasen.no/529/tv_1520_tv_2200
19:03:49 <rust_collector> yes
19:29:52 <rust_collector> ok, it is 9.30, time for my nap
19:30:12 <rust_collector> have a very interesting adventure today, mr Halcyon
19:30:48 <hsn> hello mr adventure
19:30:53 <hsn> aka rust_collector
19:31:07 <rust_collector> hoi mr you
19:31:11 <hsn> gm to u
19:31:18 <hsn> where is mr Ysjoelfir
19:31:28 <rust_collector> uhm, yes... I was just saying I was going to bed, but...
19:31:39 <hsn> ah ok sorry go ahead
19:32:00 <rust_collector> maybe I will wait until the wife wakes up
19:32:06 <hsn> have a gad noop
19:32:21 <hsn> r u sleeping on shifts
19:32:28 <Halcyon> Oh gawd: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwGuNHf6KxY
19:32:45 <Halcyon> Nice old hard drive, but then he goes and ruins his video with some piece of shit software; Spinrite
19:32:50 <rust_collector> I do everything else on a shift rotation so
19:32:56 <Halcyon> What is your adventure rust_collector ?
19:33:08 <rust_collector> no, it is your adventure
19:33:28 <hsn> speaking of harddrives. is it ok to clone hdd into ssd
19:33:33 <Halcyon> Oh mine? No, I just worked. Although I was within a metre of someone with COVID
19:33:36 <hsn> of os partition
19:33:41 <Halcyon> We were both wearing masks however, so all good
19:33:47 <hsn> or there is performance loss in that thing ^
19:33:58 <Halcyon> hsn: I see no issues with it
19:34:02 <rust_collector> hsn, I have done it several times. I dunno?
19:34:18 <hsn> i see
19:34:19 <hsn> darn
19:34:31 <hsn> i asked the IT dept to provide me fresh windows in ssd
19:34:40 <hsn> and then i will install everything manually
19:34:49 <Halcyon> Tell them to stop being lazy and just re-image your machine
19:34:49 <hsn> now i feel crap :D
19:35:06 <hsn> Halcyon, the thing is that i dont want them to touch my machine xD
19:35:13 <rust_collector> the tricky part is getting your windows install small enough to fit on the ssd
19:35:13 <Halcyon> Then do it yourself?
19:35:32 <rust_collector> unless you have a large ssd
19:35:39 <hsn> rust_collector, they bought 500GB ssd
19:35:50 <hsn> well i have 1TB HDD
19:35:54 <Halcyon> Most PC/laptop SSDs are half or 1 TB
19:36:03 <Halcyon> Prices have come right down
19:36:12 <rust_collector> how much of that is used?
19:36:25 <hsn> Halcyon, i would but allready told them to do the fresh so i 'll live with that
19:36:28 <Halcyon> In fact, I tried to deliberately find a SMALL SSD for my server, just as a boot drive for TrueNAS, I couldn't find one
19:36:34 <Halcyon> I had to settle for a 256GB
19:36:43 <rust_collector> heh
19:37:10 <Halcyon> Most of the space is wasted, but at least that leaves a lot of room for the wear levelling algorithm. It should last forever
19:37:19 <rust_collector> yep
19:37:27 <hsn> truenas
19:37:31 <rust_collector> or until the controller thing craps out
19:37:40 <hsn> eevblog google link truenass
19:37:43 <Halcyon> Fingers crossed that doesn't happen
19:37:56 <Halcyon> hsn: TrueNAS was the enterprise version of FreeNAS
19:38:00 <Halcyon> It's now the same product
19:38:07 <Halcyon> The name FreeNAS has been retired
19:38:22 <Halcyon> The product is exactly the same though
19:43:30 <rust_collector> hehe, neighbor #3 is performing a 35 point turn, to get out on the road.
19:43:48 <Halcyon> How small is the road?.... or how retarded is your neighbour?
19:43:53 <rust_collector> yes
19:44:31 <rust_collector> it is not a big road, but... he is not the most practical guy
19:45:35 <rust_collector> he got his license last summer, and he is on his 3rd car now
19:45:46 <Halcyon> I drove in an underground carpark today for a hotel (normally not open to the public but where they park valet cars). The ramps were SO tight, I was actually glad to have front sensors for once
19:45:53 <rust_collector> some small diesel bmw, it looks like a golf or so
19:46:04 <K> hello otters
19:46:04 <Halcyon> 3 series or something
19:46:05 <Halcyon> ?
19:46:08 <Halcyon> Hey K
19:46:25 <rust_collector> maybe, I don't know what they call them these days.
19:46:33 <rust_collector> it has no ass
19:46:50 <rust_collector> hola K
19:47:01 * K otters some
19:47:08 <rust_collector> ott ott ott
19:48:16 <Halcyon> I want some of these: https://www.jbprince.com/cookware/chefs-press-v2-made-in-usa.asp?childskumatch=UA100
19:48:19 <Halcyon> But they are out of stock :(
19:48:28 <rust_collector> ok, now the other neighbor is out, he is not removing snow, he prefers to just walk back and forth, to compact it... the funny thing is that he is from iceland, so he should know how snow works
19:49:11 <Halcyon> Hehehe
19:49:15 <rust_collector> hmm, you want flat porkchops?
19:49:17 <Halcyon> I guess that's one method?
19:49:31 <Halcyon> You need to set up a live PTZ webcam rust_collector for us :P
19:49:46 <Halcyon> rust_collector: For toasted sandwiches
19:49:50 <rust_collector> it is a method. it is not a very good one...
19:49:53 <Halcyon> I find I like just a little bit of weight
19:50:03 <rust_collector> add more cheese?
19:50:11 <rust_collector> why make it so complicated?
19:50:20 <Halcyon> Needs more weight than that
19:50:37 <Halcyon> Enough to JUST push the whole surface area of the bread down, without smushing it
19:50:38 <rust_collector> 13oz of cheese weighs the same as that thing
19:51:16 <Halcyon> WOW, check out this guy on the right: https://youtu.be/LbeFG-G2eSY?t=406
19:51:21 <Halcyon> Does he think he's in Hackers or something?
19:52:12 <rust_collector> that guy has found his style
19:52:32 <Halcyon> I mean, I'd sleep with him
19:52:35 <Halcyon> But still, wow
19:53:02 <rust_collector> he could use one of those weights
19:53:10 <Halcyon> For his ears?
19:53:19 <rust_collector> all over
19:53:26 <Halcyon> Interesting...
19:54:27 <rust_collector> hmm, is carbide ok in food?
19:54:41 <rust_collector> I think it would be ok
19:54:54 <Halcyon> No idea, but reminds me of Union Carbide and the pesticide disaster they had in India
19:55:14 <rust_collector> which one of them?
19:55:29 <Halcyon> The Bhopal one
19:55:33 <rust_collector> oh well
19:55:35 <Halcyon> Interesting doco
19:56:04 <Halcyon> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsuUQzhP2Ds
19:58:58 <rust_collector> i think I remember there were more non-happy things that involved union carbide. I don't remember what it was
20:05:50 <rust_collector> WHEEE! more snow! they said it was going to rain. but they said that yesterday as well
20:07:08 <Halcyon> I only get snow a few days a year max and even then it's usually a dusting
20:08:23 <rust_collector> well, you do get to a point, where you think you had enough of it
20:21:03 <Halcyon> Same with the heat I guess?
20:21:28 <rust_collector> probably. in my case, I get enough heat very quickly
20:22:16 <rust_collector> it has been better in the last 2-3 years.
20:23:46 <rust_collector> I remember one summer, when the kids and wife were away, so I was home alone for a week, and I took that week off, but it was so hot, that I only managed to go outside, plop my feet in a bucket of water, and I stayed there until it was time to go to bed
20:23:52 <rust_collector> so that was that week
20:45:17 <Halcyon> Now THAT'S a hard disk: https://youtu.be/KCtlcmzGCTk?t=194
20:47:19 <DogWomble> you just like that it's 14 inches....
20:47:47 <K> Halcyon likes him some 14" inches
20:47:54 <K> inches inches
20:50:31 <DogWomble> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T72HBhSATHY
20:50:51 <DogWomble> at the beginning there .... when he says DEC it almost sounds like DICK
20:52:28 <Halcyon> :P
20:53:10 <DogWomble> i mean, that is a very large DEC you have there :P
21:00:30 <Halcyon> You know it ;-)

22:44:57 <Ysjoelfir> nope
22:45:16 <hsn> maybe my znc is shit
22:45:17 <hsn> idk
22:45:31 * Ysjoelfir clobbers hsn's znc
22:45:40 <hsn> anyway how r u man
22:47:26 <Ysjoelfir> I'm fine-ish I think. Annoyed by the work contract I was offered. Now I have to discuss again and see if I can change all the annoying parts
22:54:23 <K> same company, Ysjoelfir ?
22:55:48 <Ysjoelfir> I was talking about that a few days ago, if you mean that, yes
22:56:34 <steve30> hi
22:56:50 <K> the pcb house one, contract with a lot of restrictions
22:57:43 <Ysjoelfir> yes, that one
22:57:45 <Ysjoelfir> also, hi steve30
22:58:03 <steve30> i feel worn out now
23:01:34 * Ampera hugs Ysjoelfir, steve30, and K
23:02:05 * Ysjoelfir hugs hsn and Ampera
23:02:08 <K> ugh.
23:02:12 <Ysjoelfir> and steve and k
23:02:22 <Ampera> How are the three of you doing?
23:02:44 <steve30> crap, but better than yesterday
23:03:00 <Ysjoelfir> [12:47:23] <@Ysjoelfir> I'm fine-ish I think. Annoyed by the work contract I was offered. Now I have to discuss again and see if I can change all the annoying parts
23:03:09 * Ysjoelfir is to lazy to type that again
23:03:23 * hsn hugs back
23:03:44 * hsn vibrates and starts hug orgasim
23:03:52 <Ysjoelfir> yaaaay!
23:04:11 <steve30> I've decided to stop taking my medication, so I'm suffering withdrawal effects, which sucks
23:04:16 <hsn> so u r having new jawb Ysjoelfir
23:04:20 <Ysjoelfir> which meds?
23:04:21 <hsn> ?
23:04:43 <Ysjoelfir> hsn - not yet. I could start on feb 1st, but the contract is shit so I won't until they changed that
23:05:10 * Ampera sprays down hsn and then hugs him
23:05:27 <Ampera> you're pretty horny for a home shopping network
23:10:49 <steve30> Ysjoelfir, Citalopram
23:25:01 <Ysjoelfir> Aaaah. Been there, done that steve30
23:25:05 <Ysjoelfir> I feel with you
23:25:40 <steve30> I can safely say that the withdrawal effects are no where near as bad as Venlafaxine
23:25:44 <Ysjoelfir> my withdrawal was horrible. I had sooooo bad headaches for months... I hope yours is a bit.... nicer
23:25:52 <Ysjoelfir> I never had that, so... maybe? :D
23:26:32 <steve30> That is notorious for withdrawal effects. Never let a Dr prescribe you venlafaxine unless you are sure he is 100% reliable.
23:28:08 <Ysjoelfir> I hope that I don't need any antidepression....things anymore, so... I hope that won't happen :D
23:28:47 <steve30> I had a couple of minor headaches so far which paracetamol solved. But I'm coughing a lot etc
23:29:39 <Ampera> this is a fun test
23:30:11 <Ampera> dealing with routing timings set externally, so whereas I can usually just tweak numbers in our software to let me do a GPS test whenever I want, I need to do this one in real time
23:30:14 <Ampera> and I have one shot
23:32:18 <steve30> Ysjoelfir, how long did you take them for? I've been on them 10 years now.
23:33:16 <Ysjoelfir> Nice Ampera :D steve30 hmm... 2 to 3 years I would say?
23:34:19 <K> cookie tiem!

23:45:04 <Ysjoelfir> its supposed to be one of the best systems worldwide, but I don't know.

23:46:00 <Ysjoelfir> it might be nice to go to whichever doctor you need and not pay anything*, but if you need something that is not in the catalog of stuff they are forced to do by law you realy have to go all in, going to court and stuff, to make them pay it
23:47:59 <Ysjoelfir> like my granny needs special shoes because she has very very swollen feet due to several sicknesses from over the years. the medical insurance company is like "meh. you don't get that." - well, why not? its neccessary for her to even be able to leave the house? - "no, its not." - erm, ok? good that you know what my granny needs?
23:50:05 <steve30> hehe, I dated a guy once who gets his shoes on the health service
23:50:44 <Ysjoelfir> she also needs a respirator for the night. back in the time she lived roughly 50% of the year on a campground where all her social contacts were. we asked for a refillable oxygen tank and a machine that is able to fill those, so that she can use said machine when she is at home and take bottled oxygen to the camping. they were like "no, thats not neccessary, but we can give you a longer hose if you want?" My answer was: Ok, please
23:50:44 <Ysjoelfir> the 63 kilometers long hose that is safe to drive over.
23:52:34 <steve30> so, an excellent service then
23:53:23 <Ysjoelfir> yes. that one went to court as the lady on the phone started to personally attack me for being reasonable and asking her if she understands what a 63km long hose means if you need that to breathe through it
23:54:52 <steve30> :)
