00:18:42 <s_gmusic> So... could someone clarify buying and inscribing scrolls into a spellbook in PFS? something about it is not 'clicking' for me.
00:20:51 <Mekkis> s_gmusic, you can do it, but it's not worth it.
00:21:00 <Mekkis> Instead, just pay for 'spell access'
00:25:17 <Mekkis> Can I scribe spells from another PC's spellbook into my own? What about gaining spells via scrolls found during an adventure?
00:25:17 <Mekkis> Players are welcome to exchange spells with each other during an adventure. They must still follow all the normal rules as put forth in the Core Rulebook and their class descriptions (for instance, an alchemist can scribe from a wizard, but not vice-versa) and they must not bog the session down.
00:25:17 <Mekkis> Similarly, scrolls found during an adventure can be used to add spells to spellbooks and similar class features (such as a witch's familiar), using the normal rules for doing so. Scrolls used in this way during an adventure do not need to be purchased, but are still consumed as normal.
00:25:17 <Mekkis> With either method, the GM should sign off on the spells gained (after witnessing successful skill checks) on affected players' chronicle sheets. All other methods of gaining new spells (such as by gaining a level or purchasing access to an NPC's spellbook) function as described in the Core Rulebook and relevant class descriptions.
00:25:17 <Mekkis> In the rare instance of a wizard charging a fee for the privilege of copying spells from their spellbooks, this fee is equal to half the cost to write the spell into a spellbook (see Writing a New Spell into a Spellbook). Rare and unique spells do not change the fee in PFS.

00:30:31 <Mekkis> !spell share glory
00:30:35 <diebot> Mekkis, SHARE GLORY transmutation ([]) bard 2, cleric/oracle 3, druid 3, sorcerer/wizard 3, summoner 2, witch 3 1 standard action Range: close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels) one non-mythic creature/3 levels Comp: V, S Duration: 1 minute/level Save: Will negates (harmless) SR:yes (harmless)Source: Mythic Adventures
00:30:36 <diebot> You imbue the targets with a fraction of your mythic nature. They count as mythic creatures for the purpose of path abilities, spells, and other effects that function differently for mythic creatures. This doesn't grant the targets mythic tiers or any uses of mythic power; it merely gives them a greater advantage when others use abilities that work
00:30:36 <diebot> differently for mythic creatures. You must be at least a 1st-tier mythic character to cast this spell.
00:30:38 <Mekkis> !spell misdirection
00:30:39 <diebot> Mekkis, MISDIRECTION illusion (glamer[]) bard 2, sorcerer/wizard 2, summoner 2 1 standard action Range: close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels) one creature or object, up to a 10-ft. cube in size Comp: V, S Duration: 1 hour/level Save: none or Will negates; see text SR:noSource: PFRPG Core
00:30:40 <diebot> By means of this spell, you misdirect the information from divination spells that reveal auras (detect evil, detect magic, discern lies, and the like). On casting the spell, you choose another object within range. For the duration of the spell, the subject of misdirection is detected as if it were the other object. Neither the subject nor the other
00:30:40 <diebot> object gets a saving throw against this effect. Detection spells provide information based on the second object rather than on the actual target of the detection unless the caster of the detection succeeds on a Will save. For instance, you could make yourself detect as a tree if one were within range at casting: not evil, not lying, not magical,
00:30:40 <diebot> neutral in alignment, and so forth. This spell does not affect other types of divination magic (augury, detect thoughts, clairaudience/clairvoyance, and the like).
00:31:51 <Mekkis> !spell Baphomet's Blessing
00:31:52 <diebot> Mekkis, BAPHOMET'S BLESSING transmutation (polymorph[]) cleric/oracle 4, druid 4, sorcerer/wizard 4, summoner 4, witch 4 1 standard action Range: touch one living creature Comp: V, M/DF (powdered bull's horn) Duration: 1 round/level Save: Fortitude negates SR:yesSource: Inner Sea Gods

00:32:47 <diebot> Mekkis, DAMNATION STRIDE conjuration (teleportation[fire]) sorcerer/wizard 5, summoner 4, witch 5 1 standard action Range: long (400 ft. + 40 ft./level) self and creatures within a 10-foot-radius burst (see below) Comp: V Duration: 1 minutes/level Save: Reflex half, see text SR:noSource: Advanced Race Guide
00:32:47 <diebot> This spell functions like dimension door, except you leave behind a burst of fire. Choose one corner of your starting square. A 10-foot-radius burst of flame explodes from that corner the moment you leave, dealing 4d6 points of fire damage (Reflex negates).
00:33:26 <Mekkis> !spell Transmogrify
00:33:27 <diebot> Mekkis, TRANSMOGRIFY transmutation ([]) summoner 4 1 hour Range: touch your eidolon Comp: V, S, M (a flask of quicksilver worth 1,000 gp) Duration: instantaneous Save: Will negates (harmless) SR:noSource: APG
00:33:27 <diebot> Your eidolon's form shifts and transforms. This spell allows you to change any of the eidolon's evolutions by allocating its evolution pool on new evolutions. If you have the aspect or greater aspect ability, this spell also allows you to change the evolution points spent to modify you, including removing or adding points as allowed by those
00:33:28 <diebot> abilities. Your eidolon cannot benefit from this spell more than once per day. This spell does not allow you to change your eidolon's base form.
00:33:44 <Mekkis> !spell Major Creation
00:33:45 <diebot> Mekkis, MAJOR CREATION conjuration (creation[]) sorcerer/wizard 5, summoner 4, witch 5 10 minutes Range: close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels) Comp: V, S, M (a tiny piece of matter of the same sort of item you plan to create with minor creation) Duration: see text Save: none SR:noSource: PFRPG Core
00:33:45 <diebot> This spell functions like minor creation, except that you can also create an object of mineral nature: stone, crystal, metal, or the like. The duration of the created item varies with its relative hardness and rarity, as indicated on the following table. Hardness and Rarity Examples Duration Vegetable matter 2 hr./level Stone, crystal, base metals
00:33:45 <diebot> 1 hr./level Precious metals 20 min./level Gems 10 min./level Rare metal* 1 round/level * Includes adamantine, alchemical silver, and mithral. You can't use major creation to create a cold iron item.

00:33:57 <diebot> You convert material of one sort into a product that is of the same material. Creatures or magic items cannot be created or transmuted by the fabricate spell. The quality of items made by this spell is commensurate with the quality of material used as the basis for the new fabrication. If you work with a mineral, the target is reduced to 1 cubic
00:33:58 <diebot> foot per level instead of 10 cubic feet. You must make an appropriate Craft check to fabricate articles requiring a high degree of craftsmanship. Casting requires 1 round per 10 cubic feet of material to be affected by the spell.

00:37:03 <diebot> You conjure a herd of aurochs or similar herd animal that immediately stampedes in the direction you indicate. The herd takes up a 20-foot-radius space and moves at a rate of 120 feet per round in a straight line. Any creatures caught in the herd's path take 4d6+9 points of damage that round as they are trampled beneath dozens of animals' hooves. A
00:37:03 <diebot> successful Reflex save halves this damage. If the stampede's path would put it in an obviously dangerous area (such as over a cliff or through a fire) or force it to move through a solid barrier, the herd stops at the obstacle and moves in a new randomly determined direction until it reaches another obstacle or the spell's duration ends.
00:37:51 <Mekkis> !spell magic circle
00:37:53 <diebot> Mekkis, MAGIC MISSILE evocation ([force]) sorcerer/wizard 1, magus 1 1 standard action Range: medium (100 ft. + 10 ft./level) up to five creatures, no two of which can be more than 15 ft. apart Comp: V, S Duration: instantaneous Save: none SR:yesSource: PFRPG Core
00:37:53 <diebot> A missile of magical energy darts forth from your fingertip and strikes its target, dealing 1d4+1 points of force damage. The missile strikes unerringly, even if the target is in melee combat, so long as it has less than total cover or total concealment. Specific parts of a creature can't be singled out. Objects are not damaged by the spell. For
00:37:53 <diebot> every two caster levels beyond 1st, you gain an additional missile-two at 3rd level, three at 5th, four at 7th, and the maximum of five missiles at 9th level or higher. If you shoot multiple missiles, you can have them strike a single creature or several creatures. A single missile can strike only one creature. You must designate targets before you
00:37:53 <diebot> check for spell resistance or roll damage.

00:38:56 <diebot> A green ray springs from your hand. You must make a ranged touch attack to hit the target. Any creature or object struck by the ray is covered with a shimmering emerald field that completely blocks extradimensional travel. Forms of movement barred by a dimensional anchor include astral projection, blink, dimension door, ethereal jaunt,
00:38:56 <diebot> etherealness, gate, maze, plane shift, shadow walk, teleport, and similar spell-like abilities. The spell also prevents the use of a gate or teleportation circle for the duration of the spell. A dimensional anchor does not interfere with the movement of creatures already in ethereal or astral form when the spell is cast, nor does it block
00:38:56 <diebot> extradimensional perception or attack forms. Also, dimensional anchor does not prevent summoned creatures from disappearing at the end of a summoning spell.
00:45:46 <s_gmusic> so basically, instead of buying the scrolls and then paying to inscribe them, "borrow" someone else's book and copypasta from it. sounds legit.
00:46:00 <s_gmusic> but how do you determine cost?
00:46:17 <Mekkis> normal scribing cost is spell level squared x10gp
00:46:41 <Mekkis> getting an NPC spell access is spell level squared x5gp.
00:47:00 <Mekkis> So scribing a spell you don't have access to normally is spell level squared x15gp.
00:55:53 <s_gmusic> okay. do I still have to roll... Spellcraft(?) checks for this?

04:19:19 <Avatar> I don't actually have 7d6 channelling anyway
04:19:36 <Avatar> that's level 13
04:19:37 <Steven> you can get it at level 9
04:19:50 <Avatar> I'm not using a phylactery, I've got a headband
04:19:52 <Avatar> of wis
04:20:01 <Steven> phalachary of positive channeling>headband of wis.
04:20:19 <Avatar> I actually saw this feat earlier now that I read it
04:20:19 <Mekkis> Avatar, what about the concept of a cleric who rides a roc, and rains holy fire down on her enemies.
04:20:22 <Avatar> that is a very good feat
04:20:42 <Avatar> yeah ok you have my attention
04:20:43 <Mekkis> by means of searing light, holy smite etc
04:20:55 <Avatar> can a cleric actually get a roc
04:21:07 <Avatar> I would like a roc companion, that is probably the only exception to the AC rule
04:21:17 <Avatar> that I would enjoy, at least
04:21:19 <Mekkis> certainly.
04:21:21 <Steven> how about worshiping http://pathfinderwiki.com/wiki/Vildeis
04:21:24 <Mekkis> I asked that question years ago
04:21:39 <Avatar> terrible domains
04:21:43 <Steven> she is all about martyrdom
04:21:50 <Avatar> even a terrible favoured weapon, a dagger? are you serious
04:21:54 <Steven> pick up Sepratist Cleric
04:22:25 <Avatar> I would kind of like a deity that has two good domains rather than one
04:22:33 <Avatar> if I can help it
04:23:52 <Steven> iunno the resurrection domain is pretty awesome.
04:24:17 <Steven> oh so and so died... we REALLY need that front liner/caster
04:24:20 <Mekkis> What about Easivra
04:24:26 <Steven> well... get up and fight some more.
04:24:44 <Mekkis> Has the Feather and the Sun domains
04:25:13 <Mekkis> Sun domain gives you the best blasting spell of all
04:25:35 <Mekkis> (and also the ability to Really give Darkness the middle finger)
04:26:08 <Avatar> that really isn't as good as the heroism domain
04:26:23 <Mekkis> Didn't think Erastil had that
04:26:28 <Avatar> yeah, glory
04:26:51 <Avatar> oh wait a sec
04:27:07 <Mekkis> I would disagree
04:27:09 <Avatar> yeah you're right, that ruins my day a bit
04:27:28 <Mekkis> heroism domain isn't THAT good
04:28:05 <Avatar> 30ft aura of heroism is sweet as
04:28:14 <Avatar> spellcasting/support, hello!
04:28:41 <Avatar> the spells suck a bit
04:28:42 <Mekkis> not as good as a spell that does 11d8+88 damage at level 11.
04:28:59 <Avatar> what spell is that
04:29:06 <Mekkis> Fire Seeds
04:30:29 <Avatar> that's 8d8+11
04:30:54 <Avatar> and it sounds like I have to hurt myself to use them
04:31:13 <Avatar> it's not a 5ft range increment, it's 'you can throw it only 5ft'
04:31:30 <Avatar> if that is the case I would be hoping another healer is around the place
04:32:34 <Steven1> isnt there a diety thats favorite animal is an eagle... brb gonna go look.
04:32:36 <Mekkis> It's "Swoop down, drop it, fly back up, BOOM!"
04:32:37 <Avatar> even 10d4 is pretty shit at level 10
04:32:51 <Avatar> oh, excellent point
04:33:03 <Mekkis> Or: Cast Resist Energy on the fighter (or your roc), and get them to toe-to-toe the enemy
04:33:03 <Avatar> ok so that stops me hurting myself, but still 8d8+11
04:33:19 <Mekkis> 8d8+88
04:33:25 <Steven1> Ketephys
04:33:30 <Mekkis> each berry does 1d8+11 damage
04:33:38 <Avatar> ohhhh
04:33:40 <Avatar> holy hell
04:33:53 <Steven1> yeah fire seeds is a decent spell against the right opponents.
04:34:03 <Mekkis> (those not immune to fire)
04:34:07 <Steven1> which can be said about just about any elemental spells
04:34:19 <Avatar> thank god demon season is over
04:34:27 <Steven1> yeah... now we have robot season!
04:34:28 <Avatar> that was becoming a nightmare for my alchemist
04:34:32 <Avatar> immune to fire, immune to poison
04:34:49 <Avatar> are robots immune to fire
04:34:50 <Mekkis> yeah, they're just immune to spells in general
04:35:11 <Mekkis> Thou Shalt Learn Thy Summons
04:35:34 <Steven1> avatar... how bout a cleric Alchemist.
04:36:01 <Avatar> one alchemist is enough
04:36:17 <Steven1> the fire seeds are are treated as Splash weapons.
04:36:18 <Avatar> as good as this fire seed roc plan sounds, it forces me to be a separatist
04:36:39 <Mekkis> how?
04:36:56 <Mekkis> There are at least two deities that have both domains
04:37:00 <Avatar> which
04:37:11 <Avatar> I am only looking at the core rulebook, I might be missing some
04:37:12 <Steven1> there are no deities with both the fire and feather domains that are good aligned probably.
04:37:20 <Avatar> sun domain
04:37:21 <Mekkis> Horus
04:37:36 <Mekkis> Easivra
04:37:41 <Steven1> source book requirement.
04:37:41 <Mekkis> http://pathfinderwiki.com/wiki/Easivra
04:39:02 <Steven1> start planning your roleplay avatar. He is currently worshiped only by the sabosan, a race of nocturnal bat-like humanoids native to the Mwangi Expanse
04:39:19 <Avatar> are these in the ISWG
04:40:08 <Avatar> or what book ?
04:40:19 <Steven1> no he is in the council of theives AP and the heart of the jungle splat book
04:40:25 <Mekkis> Heart of the Jungle, which unfortunately isn't PFS legal
04:40:44 <Steven1> yeah... wonder if they put him in the inner sea gods table
04:40:56 <Mekkis> I'd just stick with Erastil
04:41:27 <Mekkis> there's still a multitude of stuff you can do without the Sun domain
04:41:35 <Mekkis> Searing light/Holy Smite
04:41:41 <Mekkis> Reach Bestow Curse
04:41:43 <Steven1> woot woot, they reprinted him in the table in Inner Sea gods.
04:41:46 <Mekkis> Blindness/Deafness
04:42:18 <Avatar> Easivra actually gets a minor mention in inner sea gods
04:42:34 <Avatar> not with domains/favoured weapon though
04:43:18 <Steven1> http://www.archivesofnethys.com/DeityDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Easivra
04:43:31 <Steven1> sadly i left my physical copy at the store tonight.
04:44:19 <Avatar> leaning back towards desna probably isn't a bad idea
04:44:44 <Steven1> no reason why you couldnt just go sepratist Desna.
04:46:56 <Avatar> separatist isn't actually as bad as I thought now that I meet the "2 levels later" issue anyway
04:47:26 <Mekkis> If you're going separatist, I'd get fire rather than Sun.
04:47:44 <Mekkis> Fireball on your spell list means: FUN WITH THE &staff of fire!
04:47:48 <diebot> STAFF OF FIRE [moderate evocation] CL:8 none 18950gp, 5lb
04:47:48 <diebot> Crafted from bronzewood with brass bindings, this staff allows use of the following spells: • Burning hands (1 charge) • Fireball (2 charges) • Wall of fire (3 charges) Source: Ultimate Equipment
04:48:11 <Steven1> you'd get an animal companion at level 6 and could pick up boon companion at level 7, and have a rock at -1lvl class level... sounds decent really.
04:50:06 <Avatar> the character is level 10 already
04:50:10 <Steven1> so at level 8 you'd be flying around beatin people down.
04:50:11 <Mekkis> see?
04:50:14 <Mekkis> What's the issue?
04:50:23 <Mekkis> Flying around fireballing peoples
04:50:39 <Steven1> oh man... i didnt know you had 10 levels of playing to work with.
04:50:55 <Avatar> yeah lots of GM credit on this one because I hated playing him at lower levels
04:51:21 <Avatar> turns out even at higher levels he was a bit shit to play because I couldn't work out how to play a cleric
04:51:32 <Avatar> the beginning of waking rune was a bit embarassing
04:51:54 <Mekkis> the end was even more embarassing
04:52:07 <Steven1> was the middle embarassing?
04:52:15 <Mekkis> The aftermath was an embarrassment to everyone
04:52:44 <Avatar> I think in terms of embarrassment from not so embarassing to most embarassing, it went, the beginning, the middle, the end
04:52:58 <Avatar> and yes probably the aftermath was the worst
04:53:20 <Avatar> but lucky for me it overshadowed how badly I played my cleric at the beginning
04:53:28 <Avatar> I mean it was terrible
04:53:52 <Avatar> which reminds me, which faction did ulzef pick for his pirate
04:54:04 <Avatar> I need to change Buck's faction to that
04:54:24 <Mekkis> exchangr\e
04:54:41 <Avatar> that makes sense
04:55:05 <Avatar> weird choice for Buck, but okay
04:56:49 <Steven1> hey avatar how badly do you want to be able to channel... is that something we can tinker with?
04:56:56 <Avatar> sure
04:57:06 <Avatar> it can be toned down but not removed
04:57:14 <Steven1> oh.... damn....
04:57:19 <Avatar> what were you thinking
04:57:26 <Avatar> the alternative had want to be amazing
04:57:44 <Steven1> cause i was gonna say... if we went for flying insane dropping bombs on people... i got something for that lol
04:58:12 <Avatar> talk to me
04:58:24 <Steven1> Human Divine Hunter w/ the feather domain.
04:59:08 <Steven1> you would have a Celetial Roc that could have +6 to an ability score you decide.
04:59:39 <Steven1> 2 from level 2 from eye for talent 2 from class ability.
05:00:28 <Steven1> so... instead of say a 20str roc you would have a 26str roc.
05:00:33 <Steven1> that is celestial
05:00:48 <Avatar> I think you might need to slow down a bit
05:00:52 <Avatar> what book is any of that in
05:01:01 <Steven1> Advanced Class guide.
05:01:36 <Avatar> divine hunter? no?
05:01:40 <Steven1> You'd be a Hunter not a Cleric... but if you wanted to do crazy stuff like ride a roc around and wreck people... that would be the way to go
05:01:49 <Avatar> no way, must stay a cleric
05:02:08 <Avatar> that is an enormous change
05:02:42 <Steven1> druids have just as many buff spells as clerics do. they just happen to be more single target rather than aoe like bless and prayer
05:04:29 <Steven1> the other pretty stupid thing about the hunter build is you get a free belt of your choosing.
05:05:57 <Avatar> man I would really love the travel domain, I keep looking at it and salivating
05:07:58 <Mekkis> Yay. Almost all my levelling is done
05:08:18 <Avatar> this is the problem with separatist: all of the abilities say 3+wis modifier, and that gets dropped by 2

05:12:04 <Avatar> Wall of Ashes (Su): At 8th level, you can create a wall of swirling ashes anywhere within 100 feet. This wall is up to 20 feet high and up to 10 feet long per cleric level you possess. The wall of ash blocks line of sight, and any creature passing through it must make a Fortitude save or be blinded for 1d4 rounds. The wall of ash reveals invisible creatures that are inside it or adjacent to it,
05:12:04 <Avatar> although they become invisible again if they move away from the wall. You can use this ability for a number of minutes per day equal to your cleric level, but these minutes do not need to be consecutive.
05:12:48 <Avatar> replacement spells are good, but don't kick in until 7th caster level

05:13:32 <Mekkis> you disagree?
05:13:42 <Avatar> I can't remember the last time I got some fire thrown at me
05:13:57 <Steven1> I disagree... you can get Fire Resist 20 from a second level spell.
05:15:02 <Avatar> am I reading that right, 20ft high per cleric level and 10ft long per cleric level?
05:15:08 <Avatar> that's insane
05:15:23 <Steven1> its 20ft tall
05:15:44 <Avatar> and 10ft per caster level?
05:15:50 <Steven1> yeah i think so.

08:26:07 <s_gmusic> so if I have this right: to get a new spell in my spellbook in PFS, I only have to pay a small amount of gold (spell level squared x 5) and handwave the Spellcraft roll by Taking 10 on it (my Spellcraft is 11, so it'd be 21). How do I list this on a chronicle, then? Just as "Gold Spent"?
08:29:14 <Mekkis> s_gmusic, no, you need to pay a small amount of gold (spell level squared x 5) to get access to the spell, followed by a slightly larger amount of gold (spell level squared x 10) to put it in your spellbook. Just put it on your chronicle sheet as "scribing costs, see attached", and attach a sheet listing spells and their costs.

17:45:12 <Avatar> this was worse than any of that
17:45:21 <Steven> Seriously though... the thread is just this months 'why cant pfs be my way' entitlement thread.
17:45:43 <Avatar> that thread is full of things that can be changed to improve PFS
17:46:24 <Steven> that will never be improved because the problem isnt with the feats, classes, or anything its with the players playing those classes being douches and not knowing when not to hog the spotlight from other players.
17:46:24 <Avatar> when you say 'why can't pfs be my way', it's a fair question if people agree those things need to be changed

18:05:46 <Mekkis> Phil Goodall, Kernighan's companion has an int of 5
18:05:49 <Mekkis> you can, yes
18:05:52 <Avatar> pick a deity and domains
18:06:01 <Avatar> I'm finding making a cleric is not at all like making any other class
18:06:05 <Mekkis> so knows eighteen tricks
18:06:13 <Steven> i know... but i mean what is the goal for your cleric.
18:06:15 <Avatar> deity/domains has to be chosen first
18:06:17 <Mekkis> yes, there are so many options.
18:06:23 <Avatar> then you can start thinking about ability scores
18:06:38 <Avatar> I don't much of a goal

18:06:44 <Avatar> he's staying as a negative channeller

18:21:57 <Avatar> and it sounds like I have to hurt myself to use them
18:22:09 Steven1 ([email protected]) has joined #d&d
18:22:16 <Avatar> it's not a 5ft range increment, it's 'you can throw it only 5ft'
18:22:33 <Avatar> if that is the case I would be hoping another healer is around the place
18:23:37 <Steven1> isnt there a diety thats favorite animal is an eagle... brb gonna go look.
18:23:39 <Mekkis> It's "Swoop down, drop it, fly back up, BOOM!"
18:23:40 <Avatar> even 10d4 is pretty shit at level 10
18:23:54 <Avatar> oh, excellent point
18:24:06 <Mekkis> Or: Cast Resist Energy on the fighter (or your roc), and get them to toe-to-toe the enemy
18:24:06 <Avatar> ok so that stops me hurting myself, but still 8d8+11
18:24:21 <Mekkis> 8d8+88
18:24:28 <Steven1> Ketephys
18:24:33 <Mekkis> each berry does 1d8+11 damage
18:24:41 <Avatar> ohhhh
18:24:43 <Avatar> holy hell
18:24:56 <Steven1> yeah fire seeds is a decent spell against the right opponents.
18:25:06 <Mekkis> (those not immune to fire)
18:25:10 <Steven1> which can be said about just about any elemental spells
18:25:22 <Avatar> thank god demon season is over
18:25:31 <Steven1> yeah... now we have robot season!
18:25:31 <Avatar> that was becoming a nightmare for my alchemist
18:25:36 <Avatar> immune to fire, immune to poison
18:25:52 <Avatar> are robots immune to fire
18:25:53 <Mekkis> yeah, they're just immune to spells in general
18:26:14 <Mekkis> Thou Shalt Learn Thy Summons
18:26:37 <Steven1> avatar... how bout a cleric Alchemist.
18:26:56 Steven has quit (Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client)
18:27:04 <Avatar> one alchemist is enough
18:27:20 <Steven1> the fire seeds are are treated as Splash weapons.
18:27:21 <Avatar> as good as this fire seed roc plan sounds, it forces me to be a separatist
18:27:42 <Mekkis> how?
18:27:59 <Mekkis> There are at least two deities that have both domains
18:28:04 <Avatar> which
18:28:14 <Avatar> I am only looking at the core rulebook, I might be missing some
18:28:15 <Steven1> there are no deities with both the fire and feather domains that are good aligned probably.
18:28:23 <Avatar> sun domain
18:28:24 <Mekkis> Horus
18:28:39 <Mekkis> Easivra
18:28:44 <Mekkis> http://pathfinderwiki.com/wiki/Easivra
18:28:44 <Steven1> source book requirement.
18:30:05 <Steven1> start planning your roleplay avatar. He is currently worshiped only by the sabosan, a race of nocturnal bat-like humanoids native to the Mwangi Expanse
18:30:23 <Avatar> are these in the ISWG
18:31:11 <Avatar> or what book ?
18:31:23 <Steven1> no he is in the council of theives AP and the heart of the jungle splat book
18:31:28 <Mekkis> Heart of the Jungle, which unfortunately isn't PFS legal
18:31:47 <Steven1> yeah... wonder if they put him in the inner sea gods table
18:31:59 <Mekkis> I'd just stick with Erastil
18:32:30 <Mekkis> there's still a multitude of stuff you can do without the Sun domain
18:32:38 <Mekkis> Searing light/Holy Smite
18:32:44 <Mekkis> Reach Bestow Curse
18:32:46 <Steven1> woot woot, they reprinted him in the table in Inner Sea gods.
18:32:49 <Mekkis> Blindness/Deafness
18:33:22 <Avatar> Easivra actually gets a minor mention in inner sea gods
18:33:37 <Avatar> not with domains/favoured weapon though
18:34:21 <Steven1> http://www.archivesofnethys.com/DeityDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Easivra
18:34:35 <Steven1> sadly i left my physical copy at the store tonight.
18:35:23 <Avatar> leaning back towards desna probably isn't a bad idea
18:35:47 <Steven1> no reason why you couldnt just go sepratist Desna.
18:37:59 <Avatar> separatist isn't actually as bad as I thought now that I meet the "2 levels later" issue anyway
18:38:29 <Mekkis> If you're going separatist, I'd get fire rather than Sun.
18:38:47 <Mekkis> Fireball on your spell list means: FUN WITH THE &staff of fire!
18:38:51 <diebot> STAFF OF FIRE [moderate evocation] CL:8 none 18950gp, 5lb
18:38:52 <diebot> Crafted from bronzewood with brass bindings, this staff allows use of the following spells: • Burning hands (1 charge) • Fireball (2 charges) • Wall of fire (3 charges) Source: Ultimate Equipment
18:39:15 <Steven1> you'd get an animal companion at level 6 and could pick up boon companion at level 7, and have a rock at -1lvl class level... sounds decent really.
18:41:10 <Avatar> the character is level 10 already
18:41:13 <Steven1> so at level 8 you'd be flying around beatin people down.
18:41:14 <Mekkis> see?
18:41:17 <Mekkis> What's the issue?
18:41:26 <Mekkis> Flying around fireballing peoples
18:41:42 <Steven1> oh man... i didnt know you had 10 levels of playing to work with.
18:41:58 <Avatar> yeah lots of GM credit on this one because I hated playing him at lower levels
18:42:24 <Avatar> turns out even at higher levels he was a bit shit to play because I couldn't work out how to play a cleric
18:42:35 <Avatar> the beginning of waking rune was a bit embarassing
18:42:57 <Mekkis> the end was even more embarassing
18:43:10 <Steven1> was the middle embarassing?
18:43:18 <Mekkis> The aftermath was an embarrassment to everyone
18:43:48 <Avatar> I think in terms of embarrassment from not so embarassing to most embarassing, it went, the beginning, the middle, the end
18:44:01 <Avatar> and yes probably the aftermath was the worst
18:44:23 <Avatar> but lucky for me it overshadowed how badly I played my cleric at the beginning
18:44:31 <Avatar> I mean it was terrible
18:44:55 <Avatar> which reminds me, which faction did ulzef pick for his pirate
18:45:08 <Avatar> I need to change Buck's faction to that
18:45:27 <Mekkis> exchangr\e
18:45:44 <Avatar> that makes sense
18:46:08 <Avatar> weird choice for Buck, but okay
18:47:53 <Steven1> hey avatar how badly do you want to be able to channel... is that something we can tinker with?
18:47:59 <Avatar> sure
18:48:09 <Avatar> it can be toned down but not removed
18:48:17 <Steven1> oh.... damn....
18:48:22 <Avatar> what were you thinking
18:48:29 <Avatar> the alternative had want to be amazing
18:48:47 <Steven1> cause i was gonna say... if we went for flying insane dropping bombs on people... i got something for that lol
18:49:15 <Avatar> talk to me
18:49:27 <Steven1> Human Divine Hunter w/ the feather domain.
18:50:12 <Steven1> you would have a Celetial Roc that could have +6 to an ability score you decide.
18:50:43 <Steven1> 2 from level 2 from eye for talent 2 from class ability.
18:50:54 txtsd ([email protected]) has joined #d&d
18:51:31 <Steven1> so... instead of say a 20str roc you would have a 26str roc.
18:51:36 <Steven1> that is celestial
18:51:52 <Avatar> I think you might need to slow down a bit
18:51:55 <Avatar> what book is any of that in
18:52:05 <Steven1> Advanced Class guide.
18:52:39 <Avatar> divine hunter? no?
18:52:43 <Steven1> You'd be a Hunter not a Cleric... but if you wanted to do crazy stuff like ride a roc around and wreck people... that would be the way to go
18:52:52 <Avatar> no way, must stay a cleric
18:53:12 <Avatar> that is an enormous change
18:53:45 <Steven1> druids have just as many buff spells as clerics do. they just happen to be more single target rather than aoe like bless and prayer
18:55:32 <Steven1> the other pretty stupid thing about the hunter build is you get a free belt of your choosing.
18:57:00 <Avatar> man I would really love the travel domain, I keep looking at it and salivating
18:59:01 <Mekkis> Yay. Almost all my levelling is done
18:59:22 <Avatar> this is the problem with separatist: all of the abilities say 3+wis modifier, and that gets dropped by 2
19:00:45 <Avatar> what is that staff that has cloudkill?
19:00:52 <Steven1> iunno
19:00:54 <Avatar> is that the one that got grandfathered
19:00:54 <Mekkis> toxins
19:01:08 <Avatar> is that high priced now
19:01:11 <Mekkis> it's still around, but it did get grandfathered
19:01:16 <Avatar> urgh
19:01:16 <Mekkis> !item staff of toxins
19:01:22 <diebot> Mekkis, STAFF OF TOXINS [moderate varies] CL:9 none 34200gp, 5lb
19:01:23 <diebot> This length of hemlock-shrouded oak gives off the faintest whiff of rot and corruption. It allows use of the following spells: • Stinking cloud (1 charge) • Cloudkill (2 charges) Source: Ultimate Equipment
19:01:26 <Avatar> the smoke domain is a variant fire domain and has stinking cloud
19:01:42 <Mekkis> just go straight fire.
19:01:47 <Mekkis> fireball
19:02:18 <Mekkis> pay someone at Paizo to make a domain that gets Battering Blast
19:03:07 <Avatar> Wall of Ashes (Su): At 8th level, you can create a wall of swirling ashes anywhere within 100 feet. This wall is up to 20 feet high and up to 10 feet long per cleric level you possess. The wall of ash blocks line of sight, and any creature passing through it must make a Fortitude save or be blinded for 1d4 rounds. The wall of ash reveals invisible creatures that are inside it or adjacent to it,
19:03:07 <Avatar> although they become invisible again if they move away from the wall. You can use this ability for a number of minutes per day equal to your cleric level, but these minutes do not need to be consecutive.
19:03:51 <Avatar> replacement spells are good, but don't kick in until 7th caster level
19:04:06 <Avatar> that sounds better than fire resist 10 though
19:04:20 <Mekkis> fire resist 10 is good
19:04:25 <Avatar> you reckon
19:04:35 <Mekkis> you disagree?
19:04:45 <Avatar> I can't remember the last time I got some fire thrown at me
19:05:00 <Steven1> I disagree... you can get Fire Resist 20 from a second level spell.
19:06:06 <Avatar> am I reading that right, 20ft high per cleric level and 10ft long per cleric level?
19:06:11 <Avatar> that's insane
19:06:26 <Steven1> its 20ft tall
19:06:47 <Avatar> and 10ft per caster level?
19:06:53 <Steven1> yeah i think so.
19:06:59 <Avatar> that is still crazy
19:07:06 <Steven1> it is pretty good.
19:44:20 <Avatar> do some deities not allow subdomains of their own domains
19:44:25 <Avatar> sarenrae has fire but not ash
19:44:45 <Avatar> http://pathfinderwiki.com/wiki/Deities_Quick_Reference
19:44:47 <Avatar> according to that

21:36:48 <Avatar> I can't bring myself to dump dex
21:36:54 <Avatar> I try but I feel dirty
21:37:40 <Avatar> clerics can dump int safely can't they
21:37:45 <Avatar> 10 is the same as a 7?
21:42:27 <Avatar> clerics have awful reflex saves as well, +3 all the way to level 11
21:52:24 <Brunius> clerics can dump cha
22:07:50 <s_gmusic> herro
22:09:46 <Mekkis> Avatar, Kernigahn's statline was 10/12/12/11/16/14 before racial mods
22:10:11 <Mekkis> To be fair, if I was creating a cleric to the concept I proposed, I'd probably dump str
22:17:10 <s_gmusic> so if I have this right: to get a new spell in my spellbook in PFS, I only have to pay a small amount of gold (spell level squared x 5) and handwave the Spellcraft roll by Taking 10 on it (my Spellcraft is 11, so it'd be 21). How do I list this on a chronicle, then? Just as "Gold Spent"?
22:20:16 <Mekkis> s_gmusic, no, you need to pay a small amount of gold (spell level squared x 5) to get access to the spell, followed by a slightly larger amount of gold (spell level squared x 10) to put it in your spellbook. Just put it on your chronicle sheet as "scribing costs, see attached", and attach a sheet listing spells and their costs.
22:23:49 <s_gmusic> ah, got it.
22:24:25 <s_gmusic> also, how do these faction changes work? do I get to keep all my fame and prestige from the old faction, or is some of it lost?
23:00:04 <Mekkis> you keep everything
