03:55:28 <Ampera> Generally when working with electronics it's a good idea to have an ESD safe working surface. Wood is alright for this in a pinch, but most plastics are not.

10:21:55 <DHess_US> There is only a requirement for a fuse for operator safety meaning that it does not matter if the soldering station destroys itself as long as it does not cause a fire.
