00:05:48 <Falang> I thought it was a bit out there that they just ran off into the depths of a the desert with a carriage on them... lost forever.
00:06:54 <Falang> steven: I'd have handled the animals, but they said they could handle it and if I didn't get out there when I did they probably would have screwed Avatar up pretty bad with 4 giant scorpions against 1

01:36:54 <Falang> well I'll keep that shit in mind next time you unilaterally start combat from the back of the room and get us fireballed to death.
01:40:55 <Falang> what I know about that party was that when i made a plan and arranged everybody in the room for specific purposes, made those purposes clear, nobody did what they were supposed to do.
02:01:40 <Falang> Keep in mind it's no skin off my back if your character gets killed when I'm playing a pregen. It's not my PP for resurrection or body retrieval.

07:40:07 <Wrothmonk> Hello
07:40:21 <Arcwin> Hello
07:40:38 <Hydrazine> G'day.
07:40:47 <Arcwin> So this group's pathfinder online uses IRC?
07:41:00 <Hydrazine> Correct.
07:41:17 <Arcwin> How does that work?
07:42:43 <Hydrazine> We have a small program used to get battle positioning and mapping done, skype for voice chat to speed things up, and bots here to roll dice.
07:42:54 <Hydrazine> !throw 1d20+6 attack; 1d10+8 damage
07:42:55 <diebot> Hydrazine, attack: [1d20=15] 21; damage: [1d10=7] 15
07:44:02 <Arcwin> Okay I wondered how the map would be done.. I knew dice could be rolled here.

07:46:39 <Arcwin> Who should I add to skype as a contact for this?
07:47:08 <Hydrazine> That will all come out in prep for a game.
07:47:33 <Hydrazine> Theres no singular host anyway.
07:47:54 <Arcwin> *nod* I meant for tomorrow's game specifically
07:49:31 <Hydrazine> Hm. Looks like they're already at 6 people. I'd say best shot is to show up a bit early to game time and see if either there are people missing, or the gm is willing to run 7.
07:49:56 <Wrothmonk> So have you played pathfinder society before?
07:50:31 <Wrothmonk> since its a little different than normal pathfinder
07:52:05 <Arcwin> I'm one of the 6
07:52:18 <Mekkis> the flame oracle backstabs you at the end if you let her go
07:52:51 <Arcwin> and yes.. been playing society since october, up to 7 characters now.
07:52:51 <Wrothmonk> Cool, what levels?
07:53:04 <Steven> yeah, dick scenario for being diplomatic
07:53:16 <Steven> when i ran through we killed that bitch so hard
07:53:22 <Arcwin> my highest two are a 9th level archer, and a 7th level magus. The others are various levels down to 1
07:53:23 <Mekkis> how many wand charges were used today?
07:53:31 <Wrothmonk> Wow
07:53:36 <Falang> I wasn't gonna let that bitch go
07:53:37 <Wrothmonk> and you said last october?
07:53:42 <niconorsk> I used 17
07:53:43 <Falang> told you guys!
07:54:17 <niconorsk> Avatar probably used morre
07:54:24 <Wrothmonk> I've been playing since last november and I only have 5 characters, being level 1-4
07:54:28 <Falang> I actually rather enjoyed that barbarian, but I not once used her Cleave or her Power attack or any of her feats really..
07:54:29 <Wrothmonk> one dead
07:54:47 <Mekkis> Cleave doesn't work the way it worked in 3.5
07:54:47 <Steven> why didnt you use power attack?
07:54:54 <Steven> thats like the barbarian bread and butter
07:54:57 <Mekkis> and I think your power attack is already figured into your stats
07:55:01 <Falang> Mekkis: I know, that's why I didn't use it
07:55:15 <Avatar> I didn't count a total this scenario
07:55:18 <Falang> Mekkis: I don't think so, she's got a str of 24..
07:55:19 <Avatar> I was just taking them off the total
07:55:31 <Avatar> it was a lot
07:55:38 <Avatar> about 25 I think
07:55:46 <Falang> in fact, for someone with multiple attacks, I can't see why you'd bother with Cleave really
07:56:08 <Mekkis> nor can I
07:56:17 <Steven> its better if you can only make 2 attacks
07:56:30 <Steven> one attack and full bab, if it hits you make another attack at full bab
07:56:44 <Mekkis> but it forces you to not focus
07:56:51 <Mekkis> and you don't get your second attack if you miss
07:56:58 <Falang> True, but.. if your first roll sucks you suck period. I think rolling twice gives better odds..
07:56:59 <Steven> its a risk
07:57:38 <Falang> didn't even get a chance to use my potion of flight.. hmph
07:57:55 <Steven> but barbs very rarely miss on their first attack, its just one of those things
07:58:27 <Arcwin> I've been playing a lot. In addition to a couple of conventions I've attended, my local game store has pathfinder running every tuesday night (1 game each night), and every 2nd and 3rd saturday (2 games each day), and another game store has pathfinder the 1st saturday of the month (3 game rounds), plus occasional online games.
07:59:07 <Wrothmonk> Damn
07:59:13 <Wrothmonk> I wish I lived where you are :P
07:59:29 <Arcwin> but with all that, none of them are really running any of the 1st season's scenarios.. can only find them online.
07:59:32 <Wrothmonk> I've just been playing once or twice on the weekends every week
07:59:41 <Wrothmonk> just on here
08:00:15 <Falang> Steven, how does the chronicle sheet thing work if you're going to apply it to another character at a later level? you don't get gold or anything?
08:00:52 <Falang> I had a pregen, not sure if I should apply it to a 1st level character or save it for my sorc later
08:01:26 <Steven> you can apply it to a 1st level character OR can save credit and apply it to a character once they reach the level of the pregen you played.
08:01:41 <Arcwin> the rate I've been playing can't last though. I'm already running into not being able to play in some game rounds since I've already played the relevant game.. and that will only increase as I play more. I've just been playing catch-up to the others who've been in pathfinder much longer.
08:01:59 <Steven> I have a character thats going to skip level 7 entirely.
08:02:06 <Steven> I just need to actually play her.
08:03:23 <Arcwin> Of course I can still play just for fun in games :)
08:03:48 <Falang> but applying it to the 1st level charcter gives you less gold or no?
08:03:58 <Wrothmonk> Yeah I've noticed that starts to happen to people once they get a character to 6/7
08:04:10 <niconorsk> Going to have golds to spend. Getting my two level 7 pregen credits plus todays chronicles
08:05:00 <Arcwin> I've also played about 7 of the modules, getting my characters up.. they give a whole level each.. so that speeds up advancement
08:05:10 <niconorsk> I think it comes to more than 10k gold
08:05:23 <Wrothmonk> Wait, a whole level?
08:05:27 <Wrothmonk> Since when?
08:05:36 <Arcwin> modules are 3xp and 4 PR
08:05:44 <Arcwin> Modules, not scenarios
08:06:03 <Wrothmonk> Like we be goblins?
08:06:11 <Steven> sorry back, yes you get 500g for the character
08:06:19 <Steven> if you apply at first level
08:06:32 * Wrothmonk rummages through chronicle sheets
08:06:37 <Arcwin> We be goblins is a special case I believe
08:06:42 <Wrothmonk> alright
08:06:52 <Wrothmonk> Well i think i've played another one..
08:07:43 <Arcwin> crypt of the everflame, master of the fallen fortress, murder's mark, the godsmouth heresy, Thornkeep, The Midnight Mirror, etc are some modules I know
08:07:58 <Wrothmonk> MotFF is the one I have played
08:08:01 <Arcwin> thornkeep is actually a series of 5 modules
08:08:40 <Wrothmonk> Well this could really make a difference in my levels...
08:08:55 <Wrothmonk> And it shows that I still havent learned everything
08:09:20 <Wrothmonk> oh...
08:09:25 <Wrothmonk> Its the dead one
08:09:28 <Wrothmonk> :(
08:09:37 <Arcwin> so I play them for the fun of it.. they give 3 scenarios-worth of xp, but 2 scenarios-worth of PR, and about 2.5 scenarios of gold..
08:09:51 <Wrothmonk> Seems fair to me
08:10:33 <Arcwin> generally. so it pushes your character up in level faster.. My preference would be the opposite, with a finite amount of games to play. But it is what it is.
08:11:46 <Arcwin> modules you can also play over multiple sessions, so you can start one weekend, and finish on another. But that character can't play anything else until the module is completed.
08:12:46 <Falang> ah, and then later you can buy the items and whatnot. ok.
08:12:49 <Falang> Hmm.
08:13:00 <Falang> tough decision. I did have a fighter I wanted to bring in..
08:13:32 <Falang> and getting my sorc to level 7 is a long way off
08:18:06 <Arcwin> We be goblins! is the same as other 1-2 modules in that its chronicle sheet can be applied to as many different 1st level characters as you want (one per time you play it) and one 2nd level character once. Thats the rule for all level 1 modules. Its different in that its only meant to be a single game round of play, 3-5 hours...
08:19:21 <Arcwin> wher emodules in general are meant to be more 'open-world' where you're not stuck to a focused sequence of events and can explore.. and generally equivalent to 2-3 regular rounds of play.
08:21:15 <Arcwin> The actual time you take will depend on the GM and group. :)
08:21:21 <Wrothmonk> Of course
08:22:30 <Arcwin> thornkeep part 2 for instance, is a straight-up dungeon crawl. It has 9 fights, but it took my group only about 3 hours to go through it. And yet, it was worth 3 xp and yadda yadda.
08:23:14 <Wrothmonk> It seems to me that the modules would be average when it comes to PP and gold
08:23:35 <Wrothmonk> Looking through my own chronicle sheets that is
08:24:29 <Arcwin> I'm sure there is variation. I know ebon destroyers is above the regular gold curve, and some others are under it... i.e. not as much gold as 3 scenarios that level
08:24:58 <Steven> not really
08:25:13 <Steven> its just 18 games from 0xp to level 7
08:25:22 <Steven> and they go by remarkably fast
08:26:17 <Arcwin> but the xp is 3 and prestige 4... in line with what they apparently want for us at Paizo. They said in the podcast they only ever expected people to complete every other faction mission, not every mission.
08:26:47 <Wrothmonk> Which is the case with me
08:27:06 <Arcwin> there's no faction missions in modules.. you just get 4
08:27:06 <Avatar> Arcwin: pass me your skype username
08:27:15 <Arcwin> Arcwinpfs
08:27:29 <Wrothmonk> Did you just make an account?
08:27:30 <Wrothmonk> :P
08:27:50 <Arcwin> if capitalization matters.. lowercase a. I didn't think it did
08:28:03 <Wrothmonk> It doesnt
08:28:21 <Avatar> added, make sure you accept
08:28:24 <Arcwin> try your search for my own name then, Sean Erwin
08:28:51 <Wrothmonk> I meant that it was rather odd that it had pfs and your username for the irc for it
08:29:04 <Wrothmonk> Like you meant it to be used just for pfs
08:31:17 <Arcwin> I did make it specifically for pfs yes
08:31:38 <Arcwin> I didn't just make it though.. I made it a couple months ago
08:31:44 <Wrothmonk> I see
08:33:25 <Arcwin> I don't see a contact request coming in..
08:33:58 <Steven> so... lets see 36 hours and i'll be playin eyes of the ten
08:34:10 <Steven> woot woot woot.
08:35:15 <Arcwin> there it is now
08:35:38 <Arcwin> greetings to 17 hours in the future :)
08:37:00 <Wrothmonk> 17? I thought aus was at GMT+11, doesnt GMT change to -X once going past +12 or something?
08:37:25 * Steven taps the microphone...
08:37:27 <Steven> Anybody here?
08:37:33 <Wrothmonk> or am I still confused as a fish in a desert about timezones?
08:37:33 <Arcwin> well, on the page for the game it says 10:00 AM GMT+10
08:37:47 <Arcwin> and I'm in GMT-7
08:38:12 <Arcwin> so the game is taking place at midnight GMT, which is 5 pm friday for me
08:38:25 <Wrothmonk> West coast america?
08:38:28 <Arcwin> yes
08:38:31 <Wrothmonk> Cool
08:38:43 <Wrothmonk> You are talking to a central american
08:38:44 <Wrothmonk> :P
08:38:54 <Arcwin> how's the weather down there? :)
08:39:02 <Wrothmonk> Confused
08:39:04 <Avatar> east coast australia was GMT+11 during daylight savings, it's GMT+10 now
08:39:16 <Avatar> for the next 6 odd months
08:39:24 <Arcwin> we were +8 during daylight savings
08:39:28 <Wrothmonk> ok now thats just damn complicated
08:39:32 <Arcwin> excuse me -8
08:39:46 <Avatar> the topic says UTC+10:00
08:40:35 <Arcwin> right
08:40:42 <Arcwin> UTC/GMT
08:41:02 <Avatar> yeap
08:41:34 <Arcwin> so at 10 am there.. its 0am at the GMT/UTC line in england... and I'm at gmt/utc -7
08:42:01 <Wrothmonk> 10 am tommorow
08:42:01 <Arcwin> 7 hours earlier than midnight is 5pm
08:42:19 <Steven> I mentioned opening a slot for internet based player for eyes.
08:42:35 <Wrothmonk> so you aren't from the future, your a blast from the past
08:42:39 <Arcwin> 10 am saturday
08:42:40 <Wrothmonk> you're
08:42:48 <Wrothmonk> wait what
08:42:51 <Wrothmonk> its thursday today
08:42:55 <Arcwin> right
08:43:05 <Steven> and i got veto'd because it would be exceedingly difficult to audit.
08:43:13 <Wrothmonk> so it should be friday their end
08:43:16 <Arcwin> Date: Saturday, 27 April Start Time: 10:00 AM GMT+10
08:43:43 <Steven> but, i tried to get you a spot avatar
08:44:01 <Arcwin> 10 am saturday in gmt+10, is midnight GMT, which is 5pm friday GMT-7
08:44:17 <Arcwin> 17 hour shift
08:46:12 <Arcwin> simple math.. the difference from -7 to +10
08:46:18 <Steven> your welcome
08:47:56 <Steven> shit totaly forgot i need to scrounge up like 25 bucks
08:47:56 <Arcwin> I had to drop out of a previous game I signed up for here, once I figured out the sunday morning game was actually saturday evening... and I was going to be gone all day saturday. :/
08:48:06 <Steven> gotta pay for the dice!
08:48:51 <Wrothmonk> Oh, you were talking about the game
08:48:54 <Wrothmonk> not the current time
08:49:00 <Arcwin> yes
08:49:09 <Wrothmonk> Thats what had me confused
08:49:13 <Arcwin> current time for me is 3:49 pm
08:49:20 <Steven> wanna see the dice im buying?
08:49:24 <Steven> https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B52GyyzaTri6SGttYUpNZlZFQjg/edit?pli=1
08:49:28 <Wrothmonk> 5:49 here?
08:49:39 <Avatar> what do you mean opening a slot for internet based player for eyes
08:50:06 <Arcwin> where is there?
08:50:16 <Wrothmonk> gmt -6, central america
08:50:33 <Wrothmonk> at least, I thought it was -6
08:50:55 <Arcwin> should be 4:49 if -6.. sounds like you're -5
08:50:57 <Steven> meaning, i tried to make a case for one of you fine gentlemen/ladies/troglidites to join in Eyes of the Ten through a combination of programs and webcams.
08:51:11 <Steven> but got veto'd
08:51:16 <Avatar> I don't have a level 12 yo
08:51:20 <Avatar> if you log into the site, and you've up set your timezone, you don't have to manually count it
08:51:30 <Wrothmonk> Which I have set it up
08:51:33 <Avatar> or do you guys just like doing maths
08:51:35 <Wrothmonk> and it has been correct at -6
08:51:39 <Steven> its why i didnt run a bunch of 7-11 games the last 3 weeks
08:51:53 <Hydrazine> We love the maths.
08:51:59 <Avatar> I don't think we have enough in the 7-11 range
08:52:00 <Avatar> gotcha
08:52:13 <Steven> because i remember somebody *cough cough Avatar cough cough* bitching about how he has been waiting forever to play eyes
08:52:25 <Avatar> all of us have been
08:52:35 <Avatar> we can't get players who get to level 5 to hang around
08:52:39 <Wrothmonk> So either Arcwin's clock is off, or I set it up during daylight savings and the website switched it
08:52:41 <Steven> anyways, pretty cool dice huh?
08:53:00 <proquar> next level 1 session i can join in, i'll have a beloved cleric
08:53:00 <Avatar> there's no numbers
08:53:01 <proquar> :D
08:53:02 <Wrothmonk> checking website now
08:53:05 <Arcwin> what country specifically?
08:53:19 <Avatar> when's your availability
08:53:22 <Wrothmonk> US, iowa
08:53:24 <Steven> the top side is the Glyph of the open road and counts as a 6
08:53:32 <Steven> the other sides are numbered as usual
08:53:49 <proquar> saturday night
08:53:53 <proquar> i hope
08:53:55 <Wrothmonk> I have the game scheduled as 7 pm friday
08:54:00 <proquar> nights are better, when the littlies are in bed
08:54:01 <Wrothmonk> still -6
08:54:07 <Avatar> like saturday 7pm games?
08:54:09 <Steven> for those of you who dont know, the Glyph of the Open Road is the Official Pathfinder Society Glyph
08:54:14 <Hydrazine> He means central america as in, middle of the US, not central America as in Mexico.
08:54:28 <proquar> this saturday they're having a sleepover
08:54:29 <Arcwin> Iowa sounds like central time... but I know there are some areas of the us that don't observe daylight savings time
08:54:47 <proquar> steven, are you the channels' paladin?
08:54:48 <Hydrazine> And Australia has half hour time zones, just incase you thought this was easy.
08:54:50 <Wrothmonk> Iowa observes it, and so does my computer
08:54:57 <Wrothmonk> ohgod
08:55:20 <Wrothmonk> Yet another reason why I will never move to Australia
08:55:23 * Steven laughs until he weezes.
08:55:33 <Hydrazine> Pssh. Aussie's cool.
08:55:41 <Hydrazine> I wanna go back just to eat the national animal.
08:55:48 <proquar> :)
08:55:50 <Arcwin> Thursday 25, April, 5:55 pm GMT-5 it says for iowa
08:56:02 <Wrothmonk> ok
08:56:12 <Wrothmonk> so the website is changing it
08:56:14 <Avatar> ye shall not pirate books !
08:56:16 <Wrothmonk> somehow
08:56:36 <proquar> and trying to look after you
08:56:36 <Steven> No, im totaly not a paladin.
08:56:36 <proquar> :D
08:56:54 <proquar> VL/ paladin, they both have L's in them
08:57:08 <Steven> However i am Lawful when it comes to enforcing Paizo
08:57:11 <Steven> policy
08:57:15 <Arcwin> half hour timezones seems kind of odd
08:57:20 <Avatar> it's because of the L isnt it
08:57:34 <proquar> see.. l-l-l-awful-l-l-l-l
08:57:45 * proquar nogs solemnly
08:57:46 <Arcwin> to me anyway
08:57:52 * Steven agrees
08:58:18 <Hydrazine> Poisonous mammals seems odd to me, but I don't judge.
08:59:38 <Arcwin> I can see it as being more accurate to judge the effective time in a given location.. it just seems unnecessarily complex with an eye on adjusting your watch or figuring time in other zones..
08:59:58 <Avatar> thursday is the best day of the week to have a holiday
09:00:07 <Arcwin> I have friends who like to joke that in Australia everything wants to kill you...
09:00:08 <Wrothmonk> The world needs to convert to 1 second zones
09:00:24 <Avatar> short work week, then a day off, then a single day-long week, then a weekend!
09:00:29 <Wrothmonk> and have every watch update electronically
09:00:33 <Wrothmonk> automatically
09:00:51 <Wrothmonk> *sarcasm*
09:00:54 <Steven> WAIT A SECOND!!!!!!!!!!!!
09:01:05 <Avatar> no buts !
09:01:06 <Steven> ITS THE LAST WEDNESDAY OF THE MONTH!!!!!!!!!!!
09:02:05 <Steven> two new scenarios!
09:02:49 <Hydrazine> So a different second every.. .29 miles on the E-W axis?
09:02:56 <Hydrazine> Thats not complicated at all.
09:03:03 <Arcwin> another decade or two and maybe so. Instead of adjusting the time all around the world..people can just get used to a schedule local to them with an unchanging global clock.
09:03:32 <Wrothmonk> That would be kinda nice
09:03:40 <Arcwin> I think so
09:04:05 * Steven stares open mouthed in awe.....
09:05:50 <Arcwin> starting my day at 16:00 and going to bed at 08:00 woudn't really be any different than working with the current time numbers. they'd just be different numbers.
09:06:31 <Steven> i love it when the designers do things like this
09:06:35 <Hydrazine> Why bother changing it then?
09:07:01 <Steven> so.... methinks we should play this scenario next week sometime when i have freetime
09:07:16 <Wrothmonk> So you dont need to convert for timezones?
09:07:48 <Arcwin> because the current system has you changing your clocks twice a year in order to try to keep a given time of day matching the light conditions. I don't think we need that in the modern wold
09:07:53 <Arcwin> *world
09:08:02 <Hydrazine> Can you imagine the arguements though over what country's time becomes the new global standard?
09:08:16 <Wrothmonk> There wasnt an argument of GMT right?
09:08:26 <Wrothmonk> gmt 0 that is
09:08:27 <Arcwin> nope we already have that... GMT/UTC
09:08:37 <Hydrazine> I mean, I think America might flip if two global time systems are based on England.
09:08:44 <Hydrazine> two in a row I mean.
09:09:00 <Arcwin> well, I'm american and I wouldn't.
09:09:00 <Wrothmonk> america flips over everything
09:11:16 <Arcwin> I think the only reason we're still using the old system is people were raised with it. Not because its better but because it would take a little effort to change it. :P
09:11:45 <Hydrazine> Similar to why America still uses Imperial?
09:11:48 <Steven> oh man.... thats fuckin great....
09:11:54 <Wrothmonk> Exactly
09:11:58 <Hydrazine> Which is really a silly name for a measuring system that is used mainly by America.
09:11:58 * Wrothmonk slaps america
09:12:09 <Arcwin> same reason we have only tipped our hat at the metric system rather than changing to it yes
09:12:38 <Wrothmonk> I know most schools are now enforcing that metric be taught
09:12:45 <Hydrazine> But atleast we drive on the right.
09:12:58 <Hydrazine> Teaching metric isn't the same thing as using it in daily life.
09:13:10 <Wrothmonk> However my engineering classes use imperial
09:13:22 <Arcwin> oh sure.. its required by the government that it be taught. but its not the only system taught, and its not taught first, nor mandated in business and industry
09:13:42 <Wrothmonk> That is where the problem is
09:13:46 <Hydrazine> Speed limits are in miles, not KMs, The weather reports are in F, not C.
09:14:02 <Arcwin> so its like the one semester of french (or whatever) required in high school... you go through it and then forget most of it
09:14:32 <Wrothmonk> I havent forgotten my french from middle school
09:14:39 <Wrothmonk> but fair point
09:14:48 <Steven> avatar we are going to have fun!
09:14:53 <Arcwin> have you had opportunities to use it on a regular basis?
09:15:06 <Wrothmonk> Ok very good point
09:15:14 <Wrothmonk> I have friends that are french
09:15:16 <Arcwin> most don't :)
09:15:50 <Falang> for reference. wednesday isn't going to work for me anytime soon, nor monday or friday typically.. except for tomorrow it looks like.
09:16:29 <Hydrazine> I had one semester of French.
09:16:32 <Steven> holy shit stone.... this spell is awesome why have i not ran across it before?
09:16:41 <Steven> !spell Phantasmal Web
09:16:42 <diebot> Steven, PHANTASMAL WEB illusion (phantasm[mind-affecting]) bard 5, sorcerer/wizard 5 1 standard action Range: medium (100 ft. + 10 ft./level) one creature/level, no two of which may be more than 30 ft. apart Comp: V, S Duration: 1 round/level (D) Save: Will disbelief, then Fortitude partial; see text SR:yes
09:16:43 <diebot> You implant within the minds of your targets the illusion that they are engulfed in tangled webs teeming with swarms of tiny spiders. Those who fail to disbelieve the phantasmal web are treated as if in a web spell, but must also make a Fortitude save at the beginning of each turn or become nauseated for that round by the phantasmal spiders. As the
09:16:43 <diebot> phantasmal web exists only in the minds of the targets, it cannot be burned or destroyed, and it provides no cover (though it does provide concealment) against attacks made by the targets. Targets cannot escape the phantasmal web by moving, even by teleportation. Freedom of movement allows unobstructed movement but does not negate the concealment
09:16:43 <diebot> or nausea effects. Targets of the spell perceive everyone else around them to be engulfed in webs and swarming spiders, but the spell has no visible effect to other creatures (who may assist allies to disbelieve the effect).
09:16:45 <Hydrazine> I learned that the difference between French written and French spoken bothers me greatly.
09:16:58 <Hydrazine> Its like a full quarter of the letters are silent.
09:17:08 <Wrothmonk> I didnt learn french written atually
09:17:15 <Brunius|M> I learned German two years in high school. Forgotten most in the two years since
09:17:41 <Wrothmonk> And english doesnt have a quarter of the letters silent?
09:18:17 <Steven> my dirge bard totaly taking that shit.
09:18:18 <Hydrazine> I don't think English has as many silent letters as French does, no.
09:18:25 <Hydrazine> Not saying English doesn't have its own problems. It does.
09:18:46 <Brunius|M> I should really do my math...
09:22:08 <Falang> huh... why the hell is a dagger of venom so valuable? 1 strike per day? at dc14? that's pretty weak for 8k
09:22:22 <Avatar> like many items
09:22:50 <Avatar> Falang: "wednesday" only worked for us this week because it's a public holiday in austrlaia
09:22:53 <Avatar> austrlaia
09:22:54 <Avatar> fuck
09:22:55 <Falang> I mean there are some nice items you can get for 8k, 10x as useful as that single attack..
09:22:55 <Avatar> australia
09:23:07 <Avatar> yeah I am buying a belt of con/dex for 10k
09:23:14 <Avatar> hopefully I never intend to upgrade it
09:23:19 <Falang> I'm not even talking stat boosting
09:23:27 <Avatar> just sayin
09:23:32 <Falang> munchkin
09:23:41 <Avatar> your the munchkin
09:23:41 <Steven> The reason its 8k is because using the dagger's poison ability is a free action
09:23:58 <Falang> ME?! says mr. metagamer :)
09:24:32 <Avatar> advice: buy a weapon cord and spring loaded wrist sheathes
09:24:37 <Avatar> lifesavers
09:24:59 <Avatar> and help your friendly neighbourhood rogue by wearing a 5gp spiked gauntlet
09:25:52 <Steven> also, i suggest you go look up the poison spell
09:26:10 <Avatar> is that good
09:26:17 <Avatar> I have it on my sheet as a good spell
09:26:29 <Avatar> but I am still getting familiar with druid spells
09:27:29 <Steven> used against a caster the dagger of venom is pretty nasty
09:27:59 <Steven> dc14 is still very failable for most casters even up into the 10-11 tier
09:31:34 <Avatar> we bought some horses and a carriage today and lost them
09:31:48 <Avatar> because we couldn't pass a DC 10 handle animal check after 3 tries
09:32:01 <Falang> there.. caught up to the conversation. you guys are all over the damn map this morning
09:32:17 <Falang> I had the skill at +9
09:32:20 <Wrothmonk> That we are
09:32:25 <Falang> but I had battle to conduct
09:32:31 <Falang> iowa? seriously?
09:32:38 <Wrothmonk> Yes
09:32:41 <Wrothmonk> why?
09:32:42 <Avatar> I'm a druid and wouldn't have been able to easily do it
09:32:44 <Falang> Christ, I thought it sucked growing up in N. Carolina.
09:32:46 <Steven> but in the middle teirs, like 3-9 games, oh man, there are many casters with fort saves of like +6, which means you have a 40+% or so chance to poison them for 1d3con for 6 rounds
09:32:50 <Falang> Iowa has to be worse
09:32:57 <Avatar> not as bad as those jokers though
09:33:11 <Falang> very.. bibly?
09:33:21 <Steven> wait... your horses who were tied to carriages ran off?
09:33:21 <Wrothmonk> Well part of the year I'm up in Evanston IL (suburb of chicago)
09:33:24 <Wrothmonk> well
09:33:28 <Wrothmonk> depends where you are at
09:33:44 <Wrothmonk> Most of the time its confined to churches
09:34:04 <Wrothmonk> Other places (like my grandparent's area) not so much
09:34:09 <Falang> general level of racism and bigotry?
09:34:12 <Avatar> yeah
09:34:18 <Avatar> the carriage was on wheels
09:34:19 <Wrothmonk> Minimal
09:34:30 <Falang> well that's nice at least. even to muslims?
09:34:36 <Steven> and someone had a +9 to skill?
09:34:47 <Wrothmonk> Although sometimes it seems like the blacks are racist to the whites
09:34:52 <Avatar> yeah but he was the second of the four of us off the carriage
09:35:01 <Avatar> we thought at least one of the other two could deal with it
09:35:01 <Wrothmonk> Muslims arent common, so not sure
09:35:10 <Avatar> we didn't even know for sure that they were going to run off
09:35:20 <Avatar> it wasn't the focus at all, just a brief mention that they were panicked
09:35:22 <Steven> carriages have a break.
09:35:31 <Avatar> do they
09:35:35 <Steven> yes.
09:35:54 <Avatar> description doesn't say that?
09:36:14 <Falang> homosexuals etc?
09:36:24 <Steven> because thats needless fluff because 99.999999999% of the time it doesnt come up
09:37:01 <Steven> i mean i imagine there are breakless varaties out there
09:37:23 <Avatar> I have no idea
09:37:24 <Falang> sounds better than I thought it would be, but then again it's 20 years into the future from when I grew up so.. that probably accounts for most of it.
09:37:32 <Steven> but i doubt anyone would buy them.
09:37:34 <Avatar> I wouldn't have thought they'd become panicked
09:37:56 <Wrothmonk> Homosexuals are frowned upon by the general public it seems
09:38:02 <Steven> what panicked them?
09:38:04 <Avatar> is that a non-combat trained horse thing
09:38:09 <Wrothmonk> no violence or anything like that though
09:38:13 <Avatar> combat
09:38:48 <Steven> did someone cast fear on them?
09:39:10 <Falang> okay, I withdraw my pity. NC was probably worse than iowa sounds now.
09:39:17 <Avatar> no, it was vs other animals
09:39:25 <Wrothmonk> Technology is in the shit hole though
09:39:26 <Avatar> it was in the first act
09:39:50 <Falang> bandwidth pretty low?
09:40:02 <Wrothmonk> Yeah
09:40:06 <Falang> probably hard to get decent service since it's more rural, I can get that.
09:40:09 <Avatar> nothing there says they become panicked
09:40:23 <Avatar> A combat-trained horse can be ridden into combat without
09:40:24 <Avatar> danger.
09:40:27 <Avatar> what does that mean?
09:40:27 <Goya> Oddly enough - I get MUCH better internet speeds in the middle of nowhere than I ever did in the Bay Area (25 miles south of San Jose).
09:40:36 <Steven> it means it wont run away because it gets scared
09:40:46 <Falang> it took forever for us to get anything beyond dialup, ISDN was a gift from the gods
09:40:52 <Falang> not that I ever had it
09:41:15 <Falang> the jump to cable in the 90's was... ahhhh.. very nice.
09:41:18 <Avatar> where's that
09:41:28 <Falang> late 90's
09:41:41 <Goya> Cable still isn't 'widely' available where I live. ;)
09:41:58 <Steven> i mean, it can get scared if soembody casts fear on it
09:42:00 <Falang> goya: please, I haven't had breakfast yet.
09:42:03 <Steven> but otherwise it stays and fights
09:42:08 <Steven> "A combat-trained horse can be ridden into combat without danger."
09:42:17 <Goya> I mean - I can technically get it - but it's run by a mom and pop operation.
09:42:36 <Goya> Hehe. I get 10MB DSL though - so it all evens out.
09:42:40 <Falang> oh, well if anything that could possibly be better. they might not be oversaturated yet.
09:42:42 <Avatar> yeah anything gets scared if fear is cast on it, but that's got nothing to do with this
09:42:51 <Avatar> this is initiative is rolled, horses are panicked?
09:43:12 <Steven> not unless there were creatures with unnatural presence
09:43:34 <Steven> and even if the horses and cart did run away they likely wouldnt have gone very far, 200 or so yards off.
09:44:11 <Steven> a carraige weighs... i would imagine at the least 500-600lbs
09:45:19 <Steven> point being i guess is that you guys didnt actually lose them since you could easily track them down after combat and/or scenario
09:45:21 <Avatar> the ride skill talks about non-combat trained mounts not being able to make attacks on their own
09:45:47 <Steven> yeah, you cant force a non combat trained mount to attack because it doesnt have the 'attack' trick
09:50:34 <Steven> i mean as a free action, you can attempt to push any animal
09:57:35 <Avatar> yeah we weren't even riding them or directing them, they just got panicked on their own
09:59:25 <Brunius|M> I was still on dial-up until like four years ago
10:00:15 <Steven> well after the scenario you went and found them and did whatever you did with them, they arent gone forever, and even if they ran for hours it would have been back to town.

10:07:38 <Falang> steven: I'd have handled the animals, but they said they could handle it and if I didn't get out there when I did they probably would have screwed Avatar up pretty bad with 4 giant scorpions against 1

10:37:03 <Steven> I'm good
10:37:39 <Steven> im thinkin its breakfast time...
10:37:51 <Steven> breakfast burritos incomming!
10:37:59 <MeltonGuy> im thinking is time to get sex
10:40:13 <Steven> you do that sir.
10:41:13 <Goya> True. It also makes it easier to live closer to the CO in a small town. =)

13:08:35 <Falang> what's wrong pooh?
13:12:28 <Steven> bored... in comparison to tomorrow, tonight seems very borning.
13:12:45 <Falang> indeed. pretty bored over here as well, and it's only 10am.
13:13:09 <Steven> go find a woman

13:14:23 <Steven> we dont keep you doing anything
13:14:27 <Steven> you do that to yourself.
13:14:35 <Falang> That's not my story, and I'm sticking to it.
13:14:58 <Steven> im sure she knows the truth.
13:15:47 <Falang> "but honey, I have a duty and a responsibility to my fellow pathfinders!"
13:16:02 <Steven> yeah... she totally didnt buy that.
13:16:16 <Falang> I didn't say it either, I'm not stupid. but it sounds funny in my head.
13:17:50 <Steven> yeah, i want you to say it, but make sure the response gets on film so we can all laugh
13:18:20 <Falang> hahah, I'll try it next time. Though I'm concerned she might damage her eyes from the shock of such a powerful eye roll
13:19:49 <Steven> dangerous things those eye rolls
13:20:05 <Falang> there should really be a word for that
13:20:08 <Falang> why isn't there?
13:20:21 <Falang> eye roll is just descriptive
13:23:53 <Steven> probably because there doesnt need to be.
13:31:44 <Falang> you are zero entertainment
13:37:01 <Steven> im not here to be entertaining
13:38:49 <Falang> oh, your lack of entertaining reminds me... take a peek at this and tell me what the faction mission is, precisely.
13:38:51 <Falang> http://nl.ti4200.info/~mekkis/2-03Cheliax.jpg
13:39:13 <Steven> chelaxian!
13:42:14 <Falang> ... I knew that part.
13:45:13 <Wrothmonk> Collect some ashes of a dead guy?
13:45:22 <Wrothmonk> Then soil the rest?
13:45:27 <Falang> is that all?
13:45:35 <Wrothmonk> seems like it
13:45:41 <Wrothmonk> rather simple
13:45:58 <Wrothmonk> wait
13:46:00 <Wrothmonk> not ashes
13:46:04 <Wrothmonk> just any remains
13:47:42 <Falang> Yet Mekkis is refusing to give me 1pp for soiling the other corpses.
13:47:49 <Falang> said I didn't do it in secret
13:48:02 <Wrothmonk> There is nothing about doing it secretly
13:48:11 <Steven> and you expect me to do what about it?
13:48:11 <Falang> my words exactly.
13:48:34 <Wrothmonk> Therefore you could even make a big show of it
13:48:35 <Falang> Nothing, I'm simply asking if I'm reading it wrong.
13:48:51 <Wrothmonk> However, you said /other/ corpses?
13:49:07 <Falang> he said that because she signed it "In secret, countess etc etc" like anybody would sign a letter, that I was supposed to have done it secretly.
13:49:18 <Wrothmonk> thats bull
13:49:26 <Falang> there were tombs
13:49:42 <Steven> what scenario was it?
13:49:45 <Wrothmonk> wait nvm about the other corpses, read that wrong
13:49:52 <Falang> Rebel's Ransom, which we barely survived.
13:50:47 <Steven> oh yeah, i remember now
13:51:04 <Steven> well that sucks man, i've been nabbed on a prestige before too, these things happen.
13:51:09 <Wrothmonk> The "in secrecy" is definetly not part of the main message, it's just the way the paracountess signed it.
13:51:22 <Wrothmonk> definitely*
13:52:15 <Falang> That's my point.
13:52:38 <Falang> for all I know she signs everything that way. and you have no reason not to put it in the main text, the whole thing is 'off the record'.
13:53:05 <Falang> I think somebody just fucked up in writing the text of the letter or the module.
13:53:28 <Wrothmonk> However, there is the point that mekkis is a strong believe that all faction missions are strictly secret.
13:53:33 <Wrothmonk> believer*
13:54:41 <Steven> well look at this letter
13:54:44 <Steven> Attached is a letter from the Ruby Prince to the golem-creating Ardoc family in
13:54:45 <Steven> the City of Strangers. It’s important that only someone with the last name of “Ardoc”
13:54:45 <Steven> receives the letter—it cannot be given to a slave, servant, or employee of the family. An
13:54:45 <Steven> Ardoc must break the seal.
13:55:06 <Wrothmonk> He hates it when players tell each other their faction missions.
13:55:12 <Falang> I didn't tell anybody
13:55:18 <Wrothmonk> Even though its almost a must these days
13:55:19 <Falang> I sent my actions as a message to him
13:55:27 <Steven> my character delivered it to the only ardoc you have an opportunity to meet during the course of the adventure
13:55:42 <Steven> from my hand into his, i did it in a tavern with people around me.
13:55:51 <Steven> Aparantly you have to do it secretly
13:56:18 <Wrothmonk> This is another reason why faction missions are getting the boot
13:56:27 <Falang> that's utter nonsense, it doesn't matter. it's a damn letter. it could be a sweepstakes winners notification for all anybody in the tavern knows.
13:56:34 <Steven> no where in the message does it say not to let anyone see you, nor does it have the word secret anywhere in the brief
13:56:56 <Steven> but, i still got nabbed 1pp even after i made a very logical arguement.
13:57:20 <Falang> If he'd asked me if i'm doing it in plain view of everybody I'd have said no, obviously you don't go snap off a fingerbone of a corpse with people watching.
13:57:25 <Steven> Of course Bobby was GMing and i was not as kind as i could have been in my discussion with him.
13:57:26 <Falang> much less taint 4 other bodies
13:58:01 <Steven> so it was more of a fuck you im taking a PP from you steve and less of an oh i see your point but the scenario says its gotta be secret
13:58:02 <Wrothmonk> You just snapped off a finger?
13:58:28 <Wrothmonk> I think you would have failed anyway if you only did that
13:58:47 <Falang> I didn't only do that, I also messed up the other bodies
13:58:55 <Wrothmonk> Alright
13:59:10 <Falang> [18:37] <Amiri> I'll be taking a sample of Alkhet and tainting his remains as per my mission
13:59:10 <Falang> [18:38] <Amiri> make that tainting ALL the remains
13:59:56 <Wrothmonk> He never asked you if you were doing this in secret?
14:00:12 <Steven> yeah you have to mix up the remains with each ther, so if you had taken some corpse dust from each of the bodies mixed it up and then flung it across them, while no one was watching you would have been fine
14:00:43 <Falang> he didn't respond other than to say in public chat on skype that I got 1pp and not the other because I didn't do it in secret
14:00:55 <Wrothmonk> yeah thats his fault
14:01:03 <Falang> I never said I didn't do it in secret either, he didn't respond to my message
14:01:20 <Wrothmonk> he never asked you to specify therefore its perfectly reasonable to assume you did it in secret
14:01:52 <Steven> Gms are not responsable for making sure you do your faction correctly, some of us are kinder than others, but mekkis is not required to prompt you into doing it in secret
14:02:32 <Wrothmonk> If thats the case then I guess you did fail.
14:02:34 <Falang> he didn't tell the party that I went around violating corpses either
14:02:41 <Falang> so if he didn't tell them, they didn't see it
14:03:02 <Wrothmonk> Ok now thats where it gets transfered back to mekkis being at fault...
14:03:07 <Steven> unless of course he made a stealth check behind the screen and perception checks from people behind the screen.
14:03:19 <Steven> none of which you would know about
14:03:42 <Wrothmonk> However if any succeeded wouldn't they be informed?
14:04:10 <Steven> perhaps someone was informed in secret
14:04:23 <Steven> you dont know everything that happens in a game.
14:04:37 <Falang> That shit is just poorly written and we were out of time.
14:05:21 <Wrothmonk> Well you could ask mekkis if he did such a thing
14:05:58 <Steven> well falang i know one thing you will be doing from now on
14:05:59 <Falang> I will, but it was late last night for him
14:06:16 <Steven> you will be reading how that bitch signs her missives
14:06:33 <Falang> I'll just do everything secretly
14:06:40 <Falang> but I'm not cheliax, I was SL
14:06:49 <Steven> thats the spirit!
14:06:52 <Falang> got dumped on me against my wil
14:06:53 <Falang> will
14:07:11 <Steven> well you can always refuse to do a faction mission
14:07:34 <Falang> well the barbarian wouldn't give a shit about some old moldy corpses one way or the other
14:07:36 <Steven> Honey has refused to do two of them, but my other party members finished them anyways.
14:07:53 <Steven> thankfully there were other osirions.
14:09:21 <Falang> somebody do a game in an hour or two, i need 1xp to go up to 3rd level! ;)
14:09:44 <Steven> meh...
14:10:07 <Falang> something with blackjack... and hookers!
14:10:13 <Steven> !rand no noway nofuckingway okayfine
14:10:13 <dicebot> Steven, random: okayfine
14:10:16 <Steven> god damn it
14:10:22 <Steven> i stacked the fucking deck too
14:10:30 <Falang> live by the dice, die by the dice!
14:10:39 <Steven> porfolio reroll!
14:10:46 <Steven> !rand no noway nofuckingway okayfine
14:10:46 <dicebot> Steven, random: nofuckingway
14:10:48 <Wrothmonk> steven you bastard
14:10:51 <Falang> cheater
14:10:53 <Steven> hazzah!
14:10:59 <Wrothmonk> your reroll doesnt apply, it is a non pfs roll
14:11:10 <Steven> FALSE SIR!
14:11:12 <Falang> hah!
14:11:23 <Steven> this is a home brew and my word is law.
14:11:29 <Steven> because im at home
14:11:33 <Steven> and im drinking a brew
14:11:49 <Steven> justification feels so good.
14:11:59 <Falang> it always does
14:12:06 <Wrothmonk> Then you are no better than a GM re-rolling attack rolls for a monster untill they manage to kill a guy
14:12:29 <Falang> (shhh.. he probably does that too.. and if not, you're giving him ideas!)
14:13:07 <Steven> hmmmmm.... nobody would know...
14:13:15 <Wrothmonk> goddamnit
14:13:17 <Wrothmonk> wait no
14:13:19 <Wrothmonk> god damn him!
14:13:28 <Falang> *smh*
14:13:36 <Steven> i mean really... if i tpk in the first fight
14:13:43 <Steven> i still get a chronicle sheet
14:14:16 <Steven> and really... they did get an opportunity to play.
14:14:49 * Wrothmonk starts beating Steven over the head with a massive D20
14:16:12 <Falang> I'd use something else if you're gonna beat him, he's pretty good with a d20
14:16:25 * Falang gives Wrothmonk a D4, much sharper!
14:16:35 * Steven has DR∞/epic
14:16:58 * Wrothmonk stabs steven with 100d4s
14:17:18 * Falang stabs Steven with an Epic D4
14:18:50 <Steven> roll to hit Falang
14:19:23 <Falang> with you?! you cheat!
14:19:30 <Falang> 1d20+15
14:19:38 <Falang> !roll 1d20+15
14:19:38 <dicebot> Falang, 1d20+15: [1d20=18] 33
14:19:41 <Falang> boom!
14:19:47 <Steven> misses.
14:19:56 <Falang> that's in my critical threat range
14:20:03 <Steven> still misses.
14:20:04 <Falang> yer dead.
14:20:14 <Falang> precisely what a cheater would say
14:20:21 <Wrothmonk> !throw 1d20+100 d4s of death
14:20:22 <diebot> Wrothmonk, d4s of death: [1d20=13] 113
14:20:35 <Steven> no i set my AC at what my Inquisitors AC is at.
14:20:41 <Steven> My highest level character
14:21:01 <Steven> also... my favorite character
14:21:16 <Steven> anyways, point being, you missed im sorry to say
14:21:38 <Steven> if only you had gotten a nat 20
14:21:50 * Falang will attack again next round
14:21:57 <Steven> good plan!
14:22:03 * Steven casts greater invisibility
14:22:25 <Steven> !throw 1d20+18 Concentration for castin defensively
14:22:26 <diebot> Steven, Concentration for castin defensively: [1d20=12] 30
14:22:29 <Steven> I succeed.
14:22:40 Steven is now known as Invisible

14:26:16 <Steven> Darn he left because I was too powerful...
14:26:20 <niconorsk> Ah, the disconnect gambit
14:26:30 <Steven> maybe i should play something more at his level
14:26:37 <Steven> hmmmmmm level 2
14:26:57 Falang ([email protected]) has joined #d&d
14:27:59 <Steven> damn i need more 2-4 characters, i only have 2
14:28:38 <Steven> both of them being level 2
14:29:41 <Steven> falang you DC'd
14:29:55 <Steven> which sucks, cause it was your turn to do something.
14:31:22 <Falang> internet company interrupted it to notify me that despite the fact I paid the bill last night, which was received by me last night, they hadn't gotten it yet.
14:31:27 <Bloodlust> I have a level 1, almost 2 ready togo
14:32:14 <Steven> wroth you want to play?
14:32:26 <Bloodlust> PFS of course :)
14:32:43 <Bloodlust> My guy is an archer (fighter) going to ranger after his nextgame
14:33:30 <Steven> why do you want to go ranger after taking fighter?
14:33:54 <Wrothmonk> I just looked at the time
14:33:56 <Wrothmonk> I need bed
14:34:00 <Wrothmonk> sorry
14:34:16 <Falang> bed. sleep when you get old!
14:34:17 Wrothmonk has quit (Connection closed)
14:34:36 <Bloodlust> There's a way of doing things :)
14:34:46 <Bloodlust> I have an ingenius plan lol
14:35:52 <Bloodlust> I have to take off in a minute but I will be back in about 1.5 hours
14:36:20 <Bloodlust> Check what scenarios I've already played and I'm open to anything else.
14:36:40 <Steven> alright i wont bother looking for scenarios since wroth left.
14:37:42 <Bloodlust> Maybe we can drum up some more people
14:37:51 <Bloodlust> Were you going to run it?
14:38:12 <Steven> yeah, but if wroths not gonna be there i wont have anyone to kill
14:38:21 <Steven> so im not motivated anymore
14:39:24 <Bloodlust> That's a shame - it was going to be my first game on here :(
14:39:40 <Steven> well theres a game in a few days...
14:39:58 <Steven> think its tomorrow
14:40:19 <Bloodlust> I believe it is full
14:40:20 <Steven> im not exactly sure, i haven been paying attention because i get to play eyes of the ten tomorrow.
14:40:25 <Bloodlust> I can't seem to join it - wasn't invited
14:40:41 <Falang> send Avatar a pm
14:40:44 <Steven> maximum table size is 7, its currently at 6
14:40:59 <Bloodlust> anyway, if anyone else shows up I'll be back in about 1.5 hours and keen to play if you'd like to :)
14:41:00 <Steven> and not everyone who signs up actually shows up
14:41:15 <Bloodlust> double click on his name?
14:41:21 <Falang> yeah
14:41:53 <Bloodlust> done :)
14:41:59 Bloodlust is now known as Blood-away
14:42:09 <Falang> you did write something in the window right?
14:42:15 <Falang> not just double click on his name
14:42:15 <Blood-away> yes I did
14:42:18 <Falang> ok..
14:42:31 <Blood-away> "Hi mate. I've just joined and I'd like to play in the game tomorrow but I can't seem to register"
14:43:01 <Blood-away> *gone*
15:40:29 poundpuppy30 ([email protected]) has joined #d&d
15:40:35 <poundpuppy30> hello
15:40:57 <Hydrazine> G'day.
15:47:20 <poundpuppy30> any games going on for level 4 to join?
15:47:40 <poundpuppy30> 4.2 that is
15:51:41 <Blood-away> back
15:51:45 Blood-away is now known as Bloodlust
15:55:35 <poundpuppy30> no games for a level 4.2 cleric going on this week?
16:09:21 <Brunius|M> Doesn't look like it. Hang around though, there might be pick up games
16:09:34 <Brunius|M> I'm feeling good, I might GM later tonight
16:14:20 <Bloodlust> hooray :)
16:14:29 <Bloodlust> Do pick-up games happen often? I'm very new here
16:15:15 <Brunius|M> Used to, but I haven't been around as much lately so I don't know the current state
16:15:30 <Brunius|M> Wonder what I could run for a 4
16:17:37 <poundpuppy30> what time tonight?
16:18:13 <Bloodlust> I don't have 4 sorry
16:18:25 <Steven> the one thats least convienant for you
16:18:29 <Bloodlust> I have a 6.0 and a 1.2
16:19:41 <Brunius|M> Played beggars pearl? What about echoes of the overwatched?
16:20:09 <Steven> overwatch is scheduled for tomorrow
16:20:27 <Brunius|M> Probably shouldnt run that then
16:20:49 <Falang> I've got a 2nd level that can participate..
16:21:26 <Brunius|M> I don't own anything a 2nd could play in.
16:21:49 <Falang> very well, I have a 1st level character as well
16:21:52 <Falang> fighter.
16:22:01 <Bloodlust> I'll buy you one lol
16:22:39 <Brunius|M> That's very generous, but I think it's only fair to warn you..
16:23:32 <Bloodlust> I've playd Beggar's Pearl but not Overwatch
16:24:25 <Bloodlust> I've always believed that players should pitch in and buy the scenario. The Gm has to run the thing, he shouldn't have to pay for it as well.

16:41:12 <Brunius> It was meant to be "I'm a shoddy DM", after "That's very..."
16:44:56 <Bloodlust> lol
16:44:59 <Bloodlust> That's okay
16:45:12 <Bloodlust> As long as you're not actively "out to kill PCs" you're okay by me :)
16:45:21 <Falang> as long as your shoddiness doesn't get me killed, yeah. ;)
16:45:51 <Avatar> yo
16:46:09 <Bloodlust> ahh, hello - I sent you a PM :)
16:46:24 <Avatar> echoes of the overwatched is full, 6 seats
16:46:31 <Avatar> you can drop in and see if someone doesn't show up
16:46:45 <Bloodlust> I can't apply for any of the games listed
16:46:57 <Avatar> way of the wicked isn't PFS, not accepting players
16:47:08 <Bloodlust> Oh, I see
16:47:23 <Avatar> everyone here knew both of those things, didn't they tell you
16:47:35 <Bloodlust> nope
16:47:37 <Avatar> what's going on fellas
16:47:56 <Brunius> I never knew it was a question - I was on my phone until about five minutes ago
16:47:57 <Falang> I didn't see anything about wotw
16:48:00 <Bloodlust> I was told 7 was the max (I'm guessing if one drops out)
16:48:22 <Falang> and if a wotw slot was open, we'd be deathmatching for it, cause I want in that pretty bad.
16:48:25 <Avatar> 7 is technically the max in PFS but I don't like running games with a 7th player unless there's an amazingly good reason to do so
16:48:34 <Avatar> like if we've somehow double booked someone and they get screwed if they aren't included
16:48:45 <Avatar> the page says 6 seats
16:48:53 <Bloodlust> Okay, looking to play my first game
16:49:01 <Avatar> you've registered yeah?
16:49:08 <Bloodlust> Need to learn how this system works. I've played lots of PFS, but not in this medium
16:49:14 <Avatar> marked off scenarios you've played? http://www.pfrpg.com.au/pfs.php5
16:49:19 <Bloodlust> yes, all registered and marked off
16:49:28 <Avatar> you'll get invites to the next available game then
16:49:32 <Avatar> sit back and relax
16:49:33 <Brunius> poundpuppy: Are your scenarios marked off?
16:49:44 <Bloodlust> yes, all marked off
16:49:48 <Avatar> is poundpuppy here
16:49:52 <Avatar> is that you
16:49:59 <Bloodlust> just need to learn how to play in this medium and I'm all good :)
16:50:15 <Brunius> Ah, pound quit at :36
16:50:29 <Avatar> skype for voice, IRC for chat, CA (combat assistant) for mapping
16:50:46 <Avatar> http://www.pfrpg.com.au/DevCA22b135.zip
16:50:47 <Bloodlust> ahh Skype - will need to grab that now
16:50:52 <Avatar> there's your CA link
16:51:03 <Avatar> since I can't convince ballig to cooperate !
16:51:42 <Brunius> !?define

16:54:39 <Avatar> hardly "i totally should have thought of that!" material

16:55:25 <diebot> Mekkis, http://www.pfrpg.com.au/DevCA22b135.zip
16:55:38 <Avatar> that will make life a hell of a lot easier
16:55:53 <Falang> is there something better to use than skype? maybe one of those voicechat programs designed for gaming? anybody tried any of those?
16:56:09 <Steven> you mean ventrillo
16:56:10 <Avatar> mumble is great, but the thing is everyone is on skype
16:56:24 <Falang> ventrillo is shit. or at least was years ago.
16:56:34 <Avatar> people tend to be resistant to getting extra software
16:56:42 <Avatar> otherwise the maptool junkies would be playing with us
16:56:53 <Falang> but yeah, I meant for like.. FPS gaming online. they might be more efficient, and we don't need video.
16:59:00 <Avatar> yeah that's what we're talking about
16:59:13 <Avatar> mumble/ventrillo are for FPS gaming
16:59:28 <Avatar> what are you thinking of
16:59:43 <Steven> ventrillo is still pretty much shit
17:00:04 <Avatar> mumble is great though
17:00:14 <Avatar> I don't know what else is in use
17:00:21 <Bloodlust> teamspeak is good and what they use for Fantasy Grounds
17:00:29 <Falang> Avatar: I just don't do any gaming or use those softwares so I didn't know any names, but yeah. maybe they'd be more stable and more bandwidth efficient.
17:00:34 <Avatar> I wanted to use google+ ages ago, but I couldn't get people to register
17:00:46 <Avatar> which is crazy because that's what the maptools junkies do use
17:00:47 <Brunius> He invited like everyone that he had emails for
17:00:48 <Falang> oh, well I found this on g+ in the first place.
17:00:52 <Avatar> it's required for roll20
17:00:55 <Falang> maptools junkies?
17:01:08 <Avatar> yeah there is another group on google groups that plays PFS
17:01:16 <Avatar> most of them like using either maptools or roll20
17:01:21 <Falang> Yeah, I saw roll20 as well, registered there, didn't get to try out the game software, but I figured it was worth a shot
17:01:40 <Avatar> initially it was maptools but I think there was a pretty big movement to roll20 after one of them made a proposal to run every single scenario ever, in order, on roll20
17:01:59 <Avatar> there are still a lot who swear by maptools
17:02:01 <Falang> uhh.. so why aren't we using maptools? looks like it's open source
17:02:06 <Avatar> maptools is awful
17:02:14 <Brunius> It really is terrible
17:02:17 <Avatar> try it
17:02:22 <Bloodlust> TeamSpeak = great stuff :)
17:02:23 <Falang> I shall.
17:02:29 <Avatar> I think they like using it because it has a chat and a dice roller
17:02:54 <Avatar> both maptools and roll20 do lighting quite well I think, but that's all maptools has going for it
17:03:17 <Avatar> I haven't had a chance to play in roll20 yet because no games are ever scheduled on weekends
17:03:32 <Avatar> they always seem to be on thursdays in american time
17:03:36 <Falang> well shit, lighting is kinda important
17:03:49 <Falang> we currently don't even track it
17:03:54 <Avatar> when you're using CA, we can count 60ft
17:04:03 <Avatar> the GM tracks it
17:04:40 <Avatar> also the latest version of java completely breaks maptools
17:04:48 <Avatar> so you will be getting error messages pop up constantly while you play for no reason
17:05:00 <Falang> they do update it though
17:05:09 <Avatar> have they fixed the java problem
17:05:14 <Falang> hell if I know
17:05:20 <Avatar> people were saying you had to downgrade to java 6
17:05:24 <Falang> last update apr 5
17:05:48 <Avatar> it's been like that for months to years, and I haven't played on maptools for a while now so they might have fixed it
17:05:59 <Avatar> https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!forum/pathfinder-society-online-collective
17:06:03 <Avatar> that's the group if you're keen

17:07:24 <Avatar> you'll notice their signups have like 30 players for games
17:07:42 <Avatar> I'm not sure how they cope, I've just opened one slot that has 3 GMs

17:11:08 <Bloodlust> thanks :)
17:27:52 <Hydrazine> I can say from experience that roll20 is pretty cool. Haven't done any PFS on it, though.
17:28:25 <Hydrazine> It should be easier than what I have been doing, just on dice rolling syntax alone.
17:35:37 <Avatar> run a game on it for us
17:36:28 <Falang> I'm up for that, didn't get to see it yet..
17:38:00 <Bloodlust> Is roll20 like a program or what?
17:38:06 <Bloodlust> Like Fantasy Grounds?
17:38:09 <Avatar> http://roll20.net
17:40:15 <Falang> I thought roll20 looked pretty slick when I took a peek at it before, but I never tried out a game or used that tabletop system
17:40:53 <Avatar> I couldn't work out how to get a map lining up with the grid properly, so I couldn't use it
17:41:09 <Avatar> there's this 3x3 method but after I use it, it snaps back to out-of-alignment
17:41:40 <Hydrazine> Hm. I haven't actually tried it on a combat map where the grid actually mattered.
17:43:43 <Avatar> let me know if you figure it out
17:45:35 <Bloodlust> okay, I must be blind
17:45:44 <Bloodlust> I have registered and have my account and signed up for games
17:45:53 <Bloodlust> It is showing all these tutoials on how to use the interface
17:45:58 <Bloodlust> WHERE do you download the interface?
17:47:07 <Hydrazine> roll20? you don't. It runs in browser.
17:47:28 <Bloodlust> okay
17:48:14 <Bloodlust> Where?
17:48:20 <Bloodlust> I must be the biggest idiot today lol
17:48:27 <Bloodlust> I've signed up on warhorn for games
17:48:49 <Bloodlust> where will those games be run? Apparently in the browser - how do I find that game's page?
17:49:13 <Steven> wish icould help ya lust, i dont remember how to play around with roll20
17:50:11 <Bloodlust> The help guide video starts out with the words, "You’re looking at the main Roll20 interface". Umm, no, I'm not. I don't know where to find this interface!
17:59:21 <Falang> Hmm.. yeah. that's the thing I ran into so I came here, I'm going to try 'create campaign' this tiem
18:00:05 <Falang> yeah, just hit the virtual tabletop link at the top, then create a test campaign
18:00:36 <Falang> looks pretty slick.
18:01:28 <Hydrazine> Bloodlust: the main way to get into an existing campaign in roll20 is to be invited.
18:02:08 <Hydrazine> I was quite impressed with the dice rolling system, Falang. So far there is only one feature I've been seeking that I can't get it to do.
18:03:22 <Hydrazine> Roll a pile of d10s, and tell how many come up greater than X, counting 10s twice.
18:03:37 <Bloodlust> Okay, so apparently you need to send someone a link for them to be able to play?
18:03:51 <Bloodlust> So if I've signed up on warhorn, how do I get this "invite" link?
18:04:10 <Falang> Hydrazine: You playing VtM or something?
18:04:13 <Hydrazine> I've never touched warhorn. No idea on that.
18:04:17 <Falang> counting successes?
18:04:26 <Hydrazine> Mage.
18:05:03 <Falang> it has target numbers, I see it right here
18:05:18 <Falang> roll 1d10+0 target number greater than or less than
18:05:44 <Hydrazine> Making it roll for successes is fine. Making it count 10s double is the part I haven't managed yet.
18:06:08 <Hydrazine> It even handles Deadlands rolls great.
18:06:23 <Hydrazine> Bit complicated to work out, but it works fine.
18:09:34 <Steven> yup....
18:10:21 <Steven> feeling like i should buy some more consumables
18:10:34 <Steven> whats a good consumable for a level 12
18:11:14 <Steven> scroll of heal to hand off to another player methinks
18:11:18 <Falang> oh.. hrm.
18:11:28 <Steven> so they can use it on me incase i were to get feebleminded
18:11:43 <Falang> Hydrazine: I think I saw mention of macros, maybe that would be what you need?
18:13:30 <Hydrazine> Heh. We've got a pile of macros just to keep ourselves sorted out. They're useful, but I still just don't know how, or if its even possible, to make it count 10s double.
18:14:18 <Falang> I don't see the prob really man, it shows you the rolls, you can count 10's yourself.
18:14:43 <Hydrazine> We do. Its not a huge problem. its just the only one I've had with it.
18:14:51 <Falang> but you could probably send them an email and explain it, sounds legit and they could implement it for ya
18:15:15 <Falang> still, I must say this is pretty damn slick looking. I have to wonder why we're not using it
18:15:26 <Avatar> run a game for us Falang
18:15:44 <Hydrazine> Same reason we don't use metric in the US..
18:15:44 <Falang> You know I'm not up to that with the rules, but I am working on it actually
18:15:59 <Avatar> we'll cover you with the rules
18:16:04 <Falang> https://app.roll20.net/join/119457/R_K0Mw
18:16:24 <Hydrazine> The rules... and maple syrup.
18:16:47 <Avatar> I'll send you a map
18:16:51 <Avatar> see if you can get the grid to line up
18:17:05 <Avatar> what's a scenario you've played
18:19:26 <Falang> what? Oh, you mean NOW? I can't do that now. I thought you meant like later.
18:19:39 <Falang> you're the one with GM experience, it just takes a sec to create a game like this
18:20:14 <Falang> uh, it seems to automaticaly align to the grid
18:20:17 <Falang> so
18:27:28 <Avatar> I mean align the grid now
18:27:30 <Avatar> not run the game now
18:28:05 <Falang> let me consult the docs
18:28:10 <Falang> though it's pretty close now
18:28:13 <Hydrazine> Looks like the X acis is there.
18:28:33 <Falang> Y didn't seem to want to quite right
18:28:41 <Falang> but this is a random map
18:28:47 <Falang> it's probably doable
18:29:14 Bloodlust has quit (Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client)
18:30:29 <Hydrazine> Probably doable.
18:36:48 <Falang> see, not so bad
18:38:26 <Hydrazine> Its a little off on the left side, but not enough to cause trouble.
18:38:33 <Hydrazine> Definately playable.
18:47:06 <Falang> Av: figure this thing out and use it tomorrow!
18:57:20 <Avatar> I couldn't work it out
18:57:36 <Avatar> could you align the one I sent you
18:58:03 <Falang> uhh.. let me try
18:58:14 <Falang> well I aligned this one, what's the problem? obviously it can be done
18:58:16 <Avatar> I'm not done prepping tomorrow's scenario yet, unlikely I'll prep it and work out how to use roll20 before tomorrow morning
18:58:34 <Avatar> the problem is that the one you used was native to roll20 and this one's not
18:58:57 <Falang> sec, let me upload it

19:03:28 <Falang> sorry, I drag'n'dropped and it went into the browser instead
19:07:57 <Falang> hrm having trouble with that one
19:08:04 <Falang> hard to see the lines for starters
19:10:06 <Hydrazine> Its about half a square off vertically.
19:10:25 <Hydrazine> Can you make the map not snap to roll20's grid?

19:10:25 <Avatar> don't think so
19:10:25 <Avatar> the idea of the background grid is that they are together
19:11:07 dicebot0 ([email protected]) has joined #d&d
19:11:25 <Hydrazine> The idea is that both grids match. Which may not be possible if the inserted map has a border that does not align with the grid it contains.
19:11:34 <Falang> it's doable, I did it once.
19:11:52 dicebot has quit (Ping timeout: 121 seconds)
19:11:52 dicebot0 is now known as dicebot
19:11:57 <Falang> might just be because I had one map and then added another
19:12:03 ChanOP gives channel half-operator status to dicebot
19:12:12 <Falang> I'm assuming user error, since once hydra pointed it out to me it was easy
19:25:14 <niconorsk{> Played around with it. There's always the option of disabling roll20's grid entirely
19:25:30 niconorsk{ is now known as niconorsk
19:26:36 <Falang> true enough.
19:34:06 <Falang> come to think of it, I think you can turn snap to grid off
20:34:14 <Falang> no, you can't.. but part of the problem with that map is that the left edge is quite lazily sliced off with partial grid spaces and I was doing it from the left.. from the right it's a lot better
20:37:48 <Falang> ah, with alt key you can ignore snap to grid
20:37:53 <Falang> problem solved

21:47:18 <Avatar> did you work it out
21:47:32 <Falang> yeah
21:47:43 <Falang> you use alt+click and alt+move
21:47:57 <Falang> works pretty well
21:48:10 <Falang> just had to read up on it
21:48:30 <Falang> well actually they have a tutorial video for that, so... not sure why you had such a prob ;)
21:48:51 <Avatar> you had a prob for a good hour !
21:49:03 <Avatar> alt+move turns off snap to grid yeah
21:51:00 <Falang> did not.
21:51:56 <Falang> might be a learning curve, but it looks a lot better than using CA+skype+irc
21:52:10 <Falang> fog of war is very nice too
21:54:26 <Avatar> how does the fog of war work

23:13:19 <andrey> oh cool we discovered roll20
23:19:51 <andrey> I still prefer irc personally
23:20:18 <andrey> because it takes up way less cpu, and you can hang out while not playing
