10:09:13 <orbii> wish i were rich, but then i'd be not rich if i always spent it :/
10:09:13 <Halcyon> Heh
10:09:13 <Halcyon> I wish I could get this fucking network fixed
10:09:13 <orbii> oh? s'up?
10:09:13 <Halcyon> Long story short, I replaced the Ubiquiti Gen 1 cloudkey with a linux box. Instead of migrating the old config over (there was some stuff still from my old network which I don't use anymore), I started all over.
10:09:13 <Halcyon> I have untagged VLAN uplinks from a Cisco switch to the UBNT switch. Everything connected to the Cisco switch gets IP addresses etc... just fine on my .30 VLAN
10:09:13 <Halcyon> Everything on the UBNT switch doesn't get anything
10:09:13 <orbii> damn :/

12:55:18 <EEVBlog> New EEVBlog Tweet: Our good friend Meredith Perry of uBeam fame is now CEO of Elemind. She wants to control your brain. https://t.co/26qAHQyitK
12:57:19 <steve30> Brain Control.
12:57:20 <steve30> Meow :)
12:59:45 <ThunderSqueak> morning steve
13:00:41 <coppice> Interesting that she wants to control other brains, when she clearly can't control her own.
13:01:09 <Ampera> People often try to see in others what they cannot see in themselves.

15:55:07 <Halcyon> Gah, this switch config is driving me nuts
15:55:37 <Halcyon> Orbii, I'm still no closer to getting this sorted. Untagged VLAN works fine between switches, tagged VLANs just go nowhere.
15:55:50 <Halcyon> Hey Amper
15:55:51 <Halcyon> a
15:55:53 <Halcyon> Ampera
15:58:18 <steve30> Its cold this morning

16:08:05 <T3sl4> :P
16:08:22 <T3sl4> the commands reside in a separate file and are linked by pointers, so it's somewhat more flexible than a huge if-else...
16:08:36 <EEVBlog> New EEVBlog Tweet: And a tad underweight, by 0.65% https://t.co/fIEW720tgp
16:08:56 <T3sl4> not much more now to make it read and execute files from flash
16:09:09 <steve30> Why does Dave have fake gold?
16:13:05 <Ampera> steve30, a better question is why don't you have any?
16:14:46 <orbii> Halcyon: weird. wonder if the port isnt setup properly.
16:14:58 <orbii> what sort of ubnt switch?
16:15:08 <orbii> is the cisco side definitely set correctly? not an access port?
16:18:00 <Halcyon> Orbii: It's a one of the Unifi 16 port 150W POE jobbies
16:18:22 <Halcyon> The Cisco port is set up as a trunk with the native VLAN set to 10 (which is my management VLAN)
16:19:12 <Halcyon> Ideally I want the native VLAN set to 1 (which is unused) and have all VLANs as tagged, but if I change it now, I lose connection to the UBNT switch
16:20:17 <steve30> I prefer real gold :)
16:21:31 <T3sl4> golddigger]

16:27:03 <Halcyon> Sorry, I don't understand the question
16:27:20 <orbii> they have es-16-150w and us-16-150w
16:27:29 <Halcyon> Oh, the US model
16:27:29 <orbii> they're managed differently, and have cdifferent configuration methods
16:27:32 <orbii> k
16:27:43 <Halcyon> It's the Unifi switch
16:27:50 <orbii> yeah, cant stand those :/ .. cant really help :(
16:28:00 <orbii> i bought the ES cos fuck integrated switches
16:28:52 <Halcyon> Super bloody annoying
16:29:01 <Halcyon> The thing is, I had it working before I changed the controller over
16:29:10 <Halcyon> I don't know if its a firmware or a config thing
16:30:04 <Halcyon> I don't think I'm doing anything wrong though, everything says it should work
16:31:09 <orbii> that sucks
16:31:19 <orbii> it sounds like it aint trunking properly
16:31:40 <Halcyon> Yep, it sounds like it
16:31:45 <Halcyon> But there are bugger all options

20:10:05 <Halcyon> I've started dabbling in VoIP for the first time in about 12 years
20:10:26 <Halcyon> Ordered a trunk for my business and just about to set up Asterisk/FreePBX
20:10:32 <steve30> Funny you should say that, i tried to get a VoIP number this morning
20:10:40 <Halcyon> "Tried" ?
20:11:08 <steve30> Yeah, the order form crapped out on me
20:11:28 <Halcyon> Oh no :(
20:11:58 <Halcyon> But it would be cool if you did, I could actually call you and it would cost me nothing
20:14:13 <steve30> Well, the number would be like calling a normal phone number, but I guess you could do some sort of VoIP to VoIP for free
20:14:42 <Halcyon> Yeh I have to work all that out I guess
20:15:18 <Halcyon> I get a number for free from my ISP but calls are charged
20:15:33 <Halcyon> 5c a minute though
20:15:40 <Halcyon> So hardly anything to really worry about
20:22:51 Quit: Spark_Gap ([email protected]) Quit: Leaving...
20:28:28 <steve30> I installed Linphone earlier
20:28:54 <Halcyon> Is that a SIP phone?
20:29:23 <steve30> Software SIP phone
20:31:27 <steve30> I just made an account on their SIP server
20:33:25 <Halcyon> Ah nice, it's free?
20:33:34 <steve30> yeah
20:33:56 <Halcyon> I wonder if I can integrate it into Asterisk and use a physical handset with it to route calls out
20:38:46 <steve30> ok, now its crashing.
20:38:47 <steve30> oh well
20:41:16 * steve30 cuddles up to Halcyon instead
20:41:34 <Halcyon> Awww :)
20:45:56 <orbii> lol
20:46:03 <orbii> we dont really use cisco switches much
20:46:11 <Halcyon> HP ?
20:46:21 <orbii> mostly dell 'on' stuff
20:46:32 <orbii> with cumulus
20:46:58 <Halcyon> Ahh
20:47:08 <orbii> you can buy basic poe switches pretty cheap these days, though - even cisco
20:47:09 <Halcyon> Haven't used much of the Dell stuff lately (in the last 10 years)
20:47:22 <Halcyon> Yeh I have a dealer account with Dicker Data
20:47:30 <Halcyon> If I've going to buy new, I'm going 10 Gbit
20:47:42 <orbii> honestly, i havent had many issues with the es-16-160w, but that's cos i can ssh in and admin it ;)
20:47:52 <orbii> well, 10gbps and poe doesnt mix taht well
20:47:58 <Halcyon> You can do the same with the Unifi stuff too
20:48:05 <Halcyon> I just don't know their syntax
20:48:09 <orbii> not the same
20:48:29 <Halcyon> And I *know* this works without CLI as I've set it up before
20:48:34 <orbii> yeah
20:48:35 <Halcyon> I don't know what I'm doing different this time
20:48:38 <orbii> :(
20:49:12 <orbii> i have lots of cisco stuff in my personal lab, but no poe cisco
20:57:16 <steve30> I need to ring the physiotherapist
21:12:45 <steve30> Dammit, he's off, possibly till next week.
