10:09:12 <coppice> rust_collector: back before the Berlin Wall fell there was a British band called The Christians, where most of the members were brothers of German descent, named Christian. They couldn't get visas to do a tour around the area in East Germany their family originally came from, because the authorities misunderstood the band's name.
10:09:12 <rust_collector> Yeah, I have thought about changing it
10:09:12 <rust_collector> That sort of thing was one of the things we thought about when we had to figure out a name for kid #3. We wanted something that would work everywhere, and not have any kind of meaning.
10:09:12 <rust_collector> I dunno, she did get a name, but it turns out it is a male name in jamaica, so probably other places also
10:09:12 <coppice> rust_collector: there is no way to choose a universally OK name. You have to live with that, and just try not to name your kid something as bad as Dick Head
10:09:12 <rust_collector> Im ny case, well, I have made it with this name for 40 years, but it does annoy me a bit.
10:09:12 <coppice> even if you chose a name that works well today, things change a lot over a lifetime
10:09:12 <rust_collector> I am slightly anti religious. Oh well, it is just one of those things
10:09:12 <coppice> e.g. Gay used to be a popular girl's name, but for some reason it has faded away :)
10:09:12 <rust_collector> Hmm, was any boys names lesbian?
10:09:12 <coppice> yes, Les. I don't know if that name has declined, but lesbian is an old term. Gay for homosexual is quite modern
10:09:12 <rust_collector> hmm, yes, I guess
10:09:12 <rust_collector> So, I am sitting here, trying to bend a piece of pcb material. I think it will work, as a "piano" key

10:09:12 <Ampera> So I hooked up my HTC Vive for the first time in a few months, put it on my head, and swiftly noticed that absolutely everything was uniformly tinted pink.
10:09:12 <Ampera> I had absolutely no idea why it was doing this, and since those are OLED panels, my mind immediately jumped to some sort of screen burn.
10:09:12 <Ampera> the issue is, that thing has been off for months, and even though some people had issues with their Vives in direct sunlight, mine wasn't anywhere near direct sunlight.
10:09:12 <Ampera> so long story short, as it turns out, I had the HDMI colour space set to YCbCr instead of RGB. The HTC Vive cannot correctly identify and process YCbCr, and thus was interpreting the YCbCr data as RGB
