02:00:10 <rust_collector> so, if you, or any other animal chews off both blue wires in a regular network cable, the internet will slow down a bit
02:09:52 <Ysjoelfir> I would assume so, if you basically reduce gigabit network to.... well.... something different
02:10:17 <rust_collector> yep
02:10:38 <rust_collector> they got 9x, or close to 100, so that makes sense
02:11:33 <rust_collector> I guess I have to tweak the router a bit now, so I can throttle them a bit
02:12:03 <Ysjoelfir> so rusty, I found a great noise in the volvo. :X before I tell you my guess - what would you say is that screaming/whistling that gets louder with higher RPM? https://drive.google.com/file/d/155ZABFJ8mJZ4LZVOxoV0ZGVeTRzbJljj/view?usp=sharing
02:12:45 <Ysjoelfir> nearly unhearable inside the car, only when the windows are fully open and you drive past a wall or that piece of metal on Autobahns
02:13:44 <Ysjoelfir> also keep in mind that the microphone of the phone is on the bottom, so what you hear is basically in front of- and under whatever is in the picture.
02:15:26 <rust_collector> Keep in mind that I use recycled phone earbuds, but I hear alternator, and some weird half-loose ball bearing sound in something. could also be fool injectors
02:16:11 <Ysjoelfir> so we guess the same. either alternator or water pump imho
02:16:30 <Ysjoelfir> since the thermostat broke down recently I would lean towards the pump
02:16:46 <Ysjoelfir> (it failed open)
02:17:02 <rust_collector> did you find most of the pieces?
02:17:12 <Ysjoelfir> hm?
02:17:25 <rust_collector> thermostat...
02:17:31 <rust_collector> did you get all of it out?
02:18:06 <Ysjoelfir> ah. I didn't open it yet, waiting for the replacement part. since it failed open I think it shouldn't matter too much, the car just doesn't get warm fast.
02:18:54 <rust_collector> anyway, just take the alternator belt off, listen, take the pump belt off...listen
02:19:31 <Ysjoelfir> thats the plan for tomorrows lunch break
02:20:09 <rust_collector> ok, then drive over to get ice cream
02:20:12 <rust_collector> ?
02:20:38 <Ysjoelfir> that would be great. I think I'll make some ice cream right now.
02:21:59 <rust_collector> I do think those had the old style "brass-looking" thermostats. they usually do not fall completely apart, like the modern ones do
02:24:07 <Ysjoelfir> the one I ordered did look like a brass disc with just a bimetallic strip and a clamp, yes
02:27:51 <rust_collector> ok, it probably is not, but that is ok
02:28:21 <Ysjoelfir> I wonder if I should just throw a used alternator and a new pump (36€) in the trunk. don't know it I find the time to drive to a DIY garage to change that (because people here are dicks and think that coolant is the most toxic substance known to mankind which should never even touch the street)
02:29:30 <rust_collector> hmm, i do have a pile of alternators. take a pic of the back of it, and give me the amp specs
02:30:36 <Ysjoelfir> I'll do that when I'm at the car tomorrow :)
02:52:30 <Ysjoelfir> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVpu5dToNFo I like that idea
02:53:43 <rust_collector> yeah
02:54:21 <rust_collector> but we do not need that now, because we can drive teslas that can go park somewhere else
02:54:37 <Ysjoelfir> yeah, and then crash into something while doing that
02:54:53 <rust_collector> meh, you should have insurance
02:55:36 <Ysjoelfir> https://www.autopilotreview.com/tesla-autopilot-accidents-causes/
03:12:27 <Ysjoelfir> so, SWMBO needs to be picked up. which means I can take pictures of the alternator today
03:12:47 <rust_collector> whooooaaaaaaa
03:13:06 <rust_collector> well, be careful, list with your legs

03:14:39 <AustUser> Hello
03:14:46 <AustUser> Anyone willing to help a newbie ?
03:16:35 <AustUser> I have a gas station meter that uses an http://www.eltomatic.com/media/3445/08-encoder-oe01-08.pdf to generate pulses. These pulses are then recieved by a pcb that counts them and forwards a counter.
03:17:28 <AustUser> Im looking for a recommendation which Oscilloscope i should get if i want to "read" the pulses or generate pulses
03:18:14 <rust_collector> I would say you can use "any" 2 channel scope, to see the pulses. Not that I know anything
03:19:46 <rust_collector> hmm, 3 channel... ok, so "any" scope with 3 channels still working
03:20:30 <AustUser> hmm ok
03:20:56 <AustUser> so i need one with min 3 channels and a waveform generator
03:21:00 <AustUser> i think
03:21:24 <rust_collector> what will you use the waveform generator for?
03:22:21 <rust_collector> do you know if your device uses this thing in 2 channel or 3 channel mode?
03:23:54 <rust_collector> you could get away with a 2 channel scope, if it does not use the 3 channel mode, I would think. But... try to wait a bit, until someone who actually knows anything comes along
03:26:29 <AustUser> because i want to be able to test the pcb/counter
03:26:50 <AustUser> if it counts the pulses correct
03:26:59 <rust_collector> ok, good

04:46:34 <hsn> why i cant comment
04:46:36 <hsn> https://photos.app.goo.gl/2jvjKpJcTzRWa3Qh6
04:47:40 <Ysjoelfir> haha :D nice one, I would have laughed very much when I found that :D because googles standard sharing option is onli viewing
04:49:25 <hsn> ah .. mine google photos allow commenting by default
04:50:25 <hsn> also i dont unddrstand this thing bolt with big fat wire
04:50:39 <hsn> and then small connector for return path?
04:52:56 <rust_collector> bolt with big wire is the output, the case is ground, the little wore is for "voltage sensing" to the regulator
04:53:43 <Ysjoelfir> the fat one is Battery +, basically output of the charger. the small one is D+, basically a sense wire, to tell the charge controller that is built into the alternator to start charging. the case is ground, as most tings at cars are.
04:53:45 <rust_collector> pretty much

05:05:12 <Lemon> doggo didnt make it :(
05:05:44 <Ysjoelfir> oh no :(
05:06:38 <Lemon> we managed to find a vet that could come home to put him to sleep
05:06:45 <Lemon> he didnt suffer
05:07:08 <Ysjoelfir> at least. but why? I thought he was stable?
05:07:46 <Lemon> we don't really know, maybe it was simply time for him to go :/
05:10:22 <Ysjoelfir> I'm sorry to hear that :(
05:12:42 <rust_collector> that is no fun....
05:13:06 <Lemon> he lived a nice life with us during almost 15 years, thats what matters the most !
05:13:12 <Lemon> and he didnt suffer
05:13:18 <Lemon> that all that matters, really
05:13:24 <Lemon> thats
05:13:31 <Ysjoelfir> thats true
05:13:40 <Lemon> my mother is really having a hard time to accept it :/
05:13:49 <rust_collector> 15, that is not young, so I guess he did ok-ish
05:14:13 <Lemon> yeah not at all and damn, he went through some shit !
05:14:32 <Ysjoelfir> Kelly asked me to tell you she feels sorry for you, too, and to give you a virtual hug
05:14:35 * Ysjoelfir hugs Lemon
05:14:45 <hsn> condelences lemon
05:14:54 <Lemon> thats cute ! thanks guys I appreciate it!
05:19:17 <coppice> Lemon: when we adopted our dog from The Dogs Trust charity in the UK, the lady emphasised that our dog was 11, and we might not have her for long. All I could think was that you never have any dog for that long, and what counts is giving them a nice life for whatever time they have
05:19:58 <Lemon> totally !
05:21:37 <Ysjoelfir> Maybe something to chuckle - https://youtu.be/ayQO5-ft9WI?t=74 (that specific thing he says at that point)
05:22:08 <hsn> https://youtu.be/127AG8URlSE that would be me xD
05:22:57 <coppice> damn, that thing has some serious corrosion
05:26:40 <hsn> the engine right?
05:27:40 <coppice> yeah. the cloud of dust when he takes the cover off appears to be corroded cover material
05:28:09 <Ysjoelfir> wait until he openes the cylinder head, then you see why its corroded
05:28:16 <Ysjoelfir> or even the oil sump
05:29:06 <rust_collector> well, good night people. Ysjoelfir I have some random ones. 2 or 3 that would work, but I think 2 of them are low amp models... 60-70a. I suggest you take the plastic cover off the back of it, and see if it has the regular bosch style regulator. if it does, just buy one of those, they are cheap, and the rest of the alternator almost never fails anyway.
05:29:37 <rust_collector> or, you can have a regulator here, if you want, if it si that style
05:30:01 <Ysjoelfir> thanks for checking, I'll do that :) and maybe take on from you, too ;) sleep well :)
05:31:47 <coppice> I wonder how much that 5 cylinder design has in common with their current 4 cylinder design?
05:33:31 <Ysjoelfir> good question.
05:35:28 <rust_collector> eeh. both are piston engines. and they use some of the same thread sizes...
05:35:35 <rust_collector> good night
05:35:37 <rust_collector> again
05:55:33 <DHess_US> What is not to understand about why 5 cylinder engines aren't common? It is about balance and vibration.
05:56:14 <DHess_US> Same reason V engines *are* common and each has a specific angle.
05:57:20 <coppice> There aren't many 5 cylinder designs, but the ones there are tend to have a great reputation

11:35:14 <MrMobodies> Hello
11:35:33 <Ampera> Hello, MrMobodies, how are you doing?
11:35:33 <EEVBlog> Hello there, Ampera!
11:35:48 <MrMobodies> CCTV recorder hard drive failed last night
11:35:48 <Ampera> EEVBlog you're a real cunt
11:35:48 <EEVBlog> If you keep saying that, I'm gonna hold you upside down and shake you until all the electrons fall out, Ampera!
11:35:56 <Ampera> MrMobodies, that's a darn shame
11:36:10 <Ampera> actually my PBX hard drive failed not that long ago, and I just found that I actually had a backup for the PBX conf on it
11:36:18 <Ampera> so I don't have to redo that, which is really awesome
11:37:33 <MrMobodies> It was a Hitachi 1tb given to me and it was okay condition no green 150ns blocks in MHDD with only a couple of thousand hours.
11:37:36 <MrMobodies> https://imgur.com/a/2Db3hxO
11:37:52 <MrMobodies> That recorder was given to me in 2015 with a broken drive
11:38:01 <MrMobodies> it overheated so I put some fans in there
11:38:25 <MrMobodies> in exchange for replacing some caps in a similar recorder.
11:38:46 <MrMobodies> oooh PBX you have a phone system in your house
11:39:01 <MrMobodies> something I'd want to get in the future
11:42:16 <MrMobodies> I put in a 500gb for now that I have left.
11:42:28 <Halcyon> MrMobodies, FreePBX
11:42:29 <MrMobodies> only one 150ms block.
11:42:34 <MrMobodies> like asterix?
11:42:38 <Halcyon> Super easy, just need a puter and some phones
11:42:54 <Halcyon> Yep it's Asterix under the hood but with a web GUI
11:43:08 <MrMobodies> https://www.sinologic.net/wp-content/uploads/2007/07/freepbx-system-status-dashboard.png
11:43:16 <MrMobodies> Now THAT looks GOOD!
11:43:30 <Halcyon> Oh wow, that's a super old version :P
11:43:34 <MrMobodies> oh it was ancient one
11:43:39 <MrMobodies> from 2007
11:45:03 <MrMobodies> I worked in a warehouse once, they had an Asterix phoen system with some Polycom phones
11:45:12 <MrMobodies> absolutely no problems with it
11:45:20 <Halcyon> Polycom were OK back in the day
11:45:35 <Halcyon> They are a bit of a prick to get set up these days with anything other than Polycom gear
11:46:26 <MrMobodies> then BT installed a Avaya phone system and the SDcard kept failing which affect the Auto attendant and they'd send another SD out. Kingston, Transcend.
11:53:44 <MrMobodies> it was an Xorcom
11:53:45 <MrMobodies> https://i.imgur.com/miVGl1g.jpg
11:54:18 <MrMobodies> there was also a Nortel BCM50 for a sister company inside the same building.
11:58:36 <MrMobodies> I found this lovely tune at the end of a track
11:58:44 <MrMobodies> https://youtu.be/W2IFS6eBDfw?t=744
12:07:36 <Ampera> MrMobodies, mine isn't FreePBX
12:07:41 <Ampera> that's gay boy's thing
12:07:49 <Ampera> I run Asterisk on FreeBSD
12:10:03 <MrMobodies> that's nice
12:10:26 <MrMobodies> I remember seeing it as well in the addons on Pfsense
12:11:00 <MrMobodies> but I would want a POTS? card and no slots left. I'd have to set it up seperately.
12:11:34 <MrMobodies> I mean a couple of analogue interfaces out to phone line as well
12:11:46 <Ampera> I have an FXO/FXS card
12:11:50 <Ampera> with 1 line in 3 lines out
12:11:57 <MrMobodies> lovelly
12:12:02 <Ampera> or would that be 3 lines in, 1 line out
12:12:11 <Ampera> I have 3 phone lines in the house, and one phone line to the PSTN
12:14:44 <MrMobodies> What I'd I do, look for a mini pc with one pci slot for the FXO/FSX and a couple of phone bridges (I like my Panaonic handets) and that'll be ideal.
12:17:31 <MrMobodies> yes, I'd have an emergency phone, phone system for the two lines, and bridges.
12:18:24 <MrMobodies> and maybe I can set it something up to tell the Indian scammers who use non existant numbers where to go.
14:20:18 <Halcyon> I used to work for a telco years ago that sold Nortel and Commander phone systems, then later Avaya and Polycom
14:20:37 <Halcyon> There was another brand of industrial ISDN gear we sold... the name escapes me...
14:27:52 <Halcyon> Ahh JTec gear
14:28:28 <Halcyon> https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DXPgvN5VAAEopps?format=jpg&name=900x900
14:28:43 <Halcyon> We used to service and environmental test this stuff
15:12:51 <Halcyon> Actually, I'll ask Dave and see if he is keen on doing a video about it, I might be able to get hold of some old gear and people to do an interview.

16:05:48 <Ysjoelfir> mornings
16:05:55 <Halcyon> Hey Ysjoelfir
16:06:00 <Ysjoelfir> Hi Halcyon
16:06:05 <Halcyon> How's it going?
16:07:17 <Ysjoelfir> I'm ok. The volvo makes some weird noises, which I hope to figure out soon as we decided one day prior to it starting with those that we would like to drive into vacation with the car xD And you?
16:07:40 <Halcyon> What kind of noises?
16:07:48 <Halcyon> Yeh I'm well, I have the rest of the week off ! YAY
16:09:34 <Ysjoelfir> Some high pitched screaming/whining that is dependant of RPMs. I suspect either the water pump or the alternator. https://drive.google.com/file/d/155ZABFJ8mJZ4LZVOxoV0ZGVeTRzbJljj/view?usp=sharing
16:10:53 <Halcyon> Such an awesome old car
16:11:13 <Halcyon> Gee if it's "just" a pump or alternator, that's pretty good
16:11:39 <Halcyon> Could be worse, you could have a Volkswagen :P
16:12:05 <Halcyon> Could be anything from an interior rattle to the gearbox
16:12:17 <Ysjoelfir> I would think it is. I just hope it isn't the crankshaft bearing. that would be pretty bad :D but it has just 480.000km or somewhere in that ballpark, so its just done with its run in phase. Bummer that some bearing is already done for
16:12:30 <Halcyon> Haha
16:12:48 <Halcyon> 1/2 a million kilometres is a fair effort
16:13:10 <Halcyon> You could get to the moon on that :P
16:13:32 <Ysjoelfir> true.
16:13:40 <Ysjoelfir> Do you know that? -> https://www.volvoclub.org.uk/miles.php
16:14:07 <Halcyon> I've heard of it
16:14:17 <Halcyon> Apparently Volvo used to give out badges
16:14:50 <Ysjoelfir> yeah, sadly they don't do that anymore. Geely killed that project. you would get a badge when you reach 500.000km IIRC
16:15:08 <Halcyon> I thought you got one as early as 100,000 km ?
16:15:13 <Halcyon> Maybe there were multiple types
16:15:26 <Ysjoelfir> there were.
16:15:37 <Halcyon> Mine has only done about 116,000 km
16:15:46 <Halcyon> Which is a decent amount for a 2017 model
16:16:06 <Ysjoelfir> yeah. mine is 1998

16:18:02 <Ampera> no, they have guidelines as to what to do if you're feeling fine, but want sex anyways

17:46:49 <MrMobodies> my sister is working from home

17:49:36 <MrMobodies> I wanted to run a cable up the window
17:49:36 <Halcyon> :P

21:25:41 <K> live in the shower?

21:31:12 <Lemon> :> whatever that is !
21:31:13 <rust_collector> buf bud
21:31:20 <Ysjoelfir> rust_collector, I found the source of the noise. you were right - alternator.
21:32:13 <rust_collector> mmmhf
21:32:50 <rust_collector> that is not ideal....
21:32:57 <Ysjoelfir> the local junkyard only has the smaller 55A alternator. Idiots :D
21:32:58 <hsn> wtf the price https://eu.mouser.com/ProductDetail/TE-Connectivity-Raychem/222S152-25C-0?qs=rrS6PyfT74e0vJaEOAa5yw%3D%3D
21:33:18 <Ysjoelfir> well, its more ideal than eg. crank shaft bearing ;)
21:33:34 <hsn> Lemon, how is u
21:33:37 <rust_collector> so, what rating does yours have? 90?
21:33:38 <hsn> doing

21:33:50 <Ysjoelfir> 100A rusty
21:34:21 <rust_collector> well... put 2 on there?
21:34:32 <hsn> Ysjoelfir, about noise ?
21:34:47 <hsn> or heat shrink stuff
21:34:50 <Ysjoelfir> I actually thought about adding a second one before, but I don't think there is enough room.
21:34:54 <Ysjoelfir> hsn the heat shrink
21:35:20 <hsn> yes i see i cry
21:35:57 <rust_collector> sad heat shrink?
21:40:15 <K> sad and expensive
21:41:56 <rust_collector> must have a great propaganda team to make that work
21:45:03 <hsn> very sad
21:47:06 <rust_collector> ok, hose is done... time to make breakfast
21:48:49 <hsn> what time is it again rusty?
21:49:22 <Ysjoelfir> enjoy :) also rusty, if you happen to stumble over a petrol powered stationary heater before we arrive.... pick that up please, I want one. but they are ultimative expensive over here
21:49:26 <Ysjoelfir> hsn - 1349
21:49:45 <hsn> thats not breakfast :)
21:50:09 <Watcher> ye that every late for breakfast

21:53:05 <rust_collector> breakfast happens when you eat it
22:05:53 <hsn> nah .. breakfast is only from 7am to 9:30am
22:06:10 <hsn> anything outside is different creature ..
22:06:32 <rust_collector> yes, except for being wrong, that sounds good
22:06:57 <Ysjoelfir> god damn it, are those alternators made from gold?
22:07:14 <Ysjoelfir> a used one that looks as shitty as mine is like 150€
22:07:16 <rust_collector> just a small part of them
22:07:36 <rust_collector> hmm, let me look. what year etc?
22:07:36 <Ysjoelfir> and they even want me to send back the broken one. wtf?
22:08:34 <K> mh
22:08:36 <Ysjoelfir> 940 classic, B230FT motor, build in 1998, 100A alternator with a... a.... erm.... belt disc (?) for two V-belts, not for flat belts
22:09:26 <rust_collector> yeah, how do you think they make money? take the cores apart, blast and paint, put diodes and bearings in, and sell it to the next guy
22:09:48 <Ysjoelfir> exactly. I would do that, too, but I don't have the time now :D
22:10:15 <hsn> sell what u cheaty ....
22:10:16 <hsn> xD
22:10:35 <Ysjoelfir> :P
22:15:24 <coppice> Ysjoelfir: I think a Mini constructed from spares would cost about the same as a Rolls Royce :)
22:16:01 <Ysjoelfir> Probably. Besides that, Mini is pretty expensive :D
22:16:11 <coppice> and quite big
22:16:58 <rust_collector> they did consider using the chrysler 2.0 from the neon in those. so that is one good thing about them
22:19:17 <coppice> Imagine a world in which a small alternator for a car actually cost 150. We'd be living in caves
22:20:03 <K> regarding minis and cray-cray mechanics: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yo0oqVtCJt8
22:20:28 <K> i don't even have a drivers license, but find this project fascinating
22:20:49 <Ysjoelfir> you should make one. its fun :)
22:20:50 <coppice> Those guys are obsessed
22:21:00 <Ysjoelfir> also, you could visit rusty, K :P
22:21:24 <K> is he also a cray-cray mechanic?
22:21:37 <rust_collector> no no
22:22:00 <rust_collector> not enough to admit I am a mechanic
22:22:12 <K> he is totaly fine and has doctors notice to prove it!
22:25:02 <rust_collector> https://productimages.biltema.com/v1/image/imagebyfilename/63-627_xxl_2.jpg
22:25:12 <rust_collector> is that the same type?
22:25:19 <rust_collector> they all look the same to me
22:25:42 <rust_collector> meh, same enough
22:25:48 <coppice> there are several types. they alternate between them
22:26:10 <Ysjoelfir> yep, looks like the right one. might have one "screw thing" to much, not quite sure, but it looks "doable"
22:26:20 <Ysjoelfir> badumm-tss coppice :P
22:26:50 <EEVBlog> New EEVBlog Tweet: Someone's having fun with my business credit card. Luckily a new card arrived today, so was going to cancel the old one anyway. Merchant is the loser. https://t.co/tF7TGNn24q
22:26:53 <Watcher> can rusty not send Ysjoelfir one. i have the idea he lives in scandivia?
22:27:15 <Ysjoelfir> rusty does, yes. I live a bit more south
22:27:22 <rust_collector> why? he can come and pick it up himself
22:27:35 <Ysjoelfir> but I'll be on my way to rusty in roughly 2 weeks - but need an alternator then xD
22:27:44 <rust_collector> they have jumper cables on the boat, is ok
22:27:48 <Watcher> yes in Nordrhein-Westfalen
22:28:04 <Ysjoelfir> even though I think the old one will work until then :)
22:28:16 <Ysjoelfir> watcher - even more south, Frankfurt. but I was born in NRW
22:28:21 <rust_collector> it will work for several years
22:28:30 <Ysjoelfir> but it will be annoying as fuck
22:28:41 <Ysjoelfir> driving around like *WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE*
22:28:57 <rust_collector> it is my special turbo...
22:29:02 <Ysjoelfir> hehe
22:29:04 <rust_collector> huh huh huh
22:29:13 <Ysjoelfir> one of those electronic fan based turbochargers? :P
22:29:32 <K> wifes hairdryer
22:29:36 <rust_collector> well, that thing in the pics is 151.71 euros, no core
22:29:46 <rust_collector> so, I guess that is what they cost
22:30:18 <rust_collector> I can mention it to some people... they may have something
22:30:26 <Ysjoelfir> samn oO thats fucking expensive. thats 10% of the cars worth!
22:30:30 <Ysjoelfir> *damn
22:30:38 <rust_collector> you missed a 0
22:30:47 <Ysjoelfir> :P
22:30:51 <Ysjoelfir> where you live maybe
22:30:57 <Ysjoelfir> here they are becoming very expensive
22:31:11 <Ysjoelfir> a good one with <300.000km goes for around 6000€
22:31:35 <Ampera> good morning Ysjoelfir how are you doing
22:31:44 <rust_collector> well, if you want a "new" part, it will cost something. making them cost the same as making one for a golf, or whatever
22:32:25 <Ysjoelfir> Hey Ampera :) pretty good today, thanks. sitting at work, writing a script for my calibration procedure. you?
22:32:46 <Ysjoelfir> rusty: I would be perfectly fine with a used one that works and doesn't scream
22:32:48 <Watcher> this here also car's became less worth and then they became 25 years and rare and the price go up
22:33:00 <Ampera> attempting to wake up, listening to Молчат Дома
22:33:57 <rust_collector> I remember when you could walk around, and people would try to make you take their lada away. now they are expensive
22:34:07 <Ysjoelfir> yep
22:34:19 <Ampera> junk + time = collectible
22:34:21 <Ysjoelfir> friend of mine had a niva 4x4. had to pay the junkyard 200€ for taking it
22:36:16 <rust_collector> hmm, the corolla is going to have its test on wednesday...
22:36:42 <rust_collector> that will be interesting. I think I should leave a pen in it, so they don't run out of ink
22:36:53 <Ysjoelfir> xD is it that bad?
22:37:02 <rust_collector> no, but yes
22:37:09 <rust_collector> it is pretty bad
22:37:38 <Ysjoelfir> hehe
22:44:34 <rust_collector> Ysjoelfir, how much is an alternator for an old passat diesel?
22:44:51 <Ysjoelfir> over here?
22:44:57 <rust_collector> yezz
22:46:22 <Ysjoelfir> used, roughly 60
22:46:43 <Ysjoelfir> i looked for one for a 32B
22:46:54 <Ysjoelfir> new one: 90
22:46:58 Quit: Watcher ([email protected]) Quit: http://www.kiwiirc.com/ - A hand crafted IRC client
22:47:02 <rust_collector> 32b?
22:47:26 <Ysjoelfir> VW passat 32B
22:47:40 <rust_collector> damn vw crap
22:47:48 <Ysjoelfir> might be called B2 in some regions outside of germany
22:48:01 <rust_collector> oh those
22:48:50 <rust_collector> well, I was thinking about a 2005 or so. the generic junky passat
22:49:06 <Ysjoelfir> you said an old one xD
22:50:02 <rust_collector> don't do what I say, or..uhm
22:50:37 <Ysjoelfir> for the B6 (~05-10) its 50 used, 100 new
22:53:25 <rust_collector> that is not so bad...
22:53:39 <Ysjoelfir> thats what I expected for the volvo, too :D
22:54:02 <rust_collector> put a vw part in it...
22:54:15 <rust_collector> both are made by bosch
22:54:45 <Ysjoelfir> if I can find one that fits I would do that
22:55:49 <hsn> https://photos.app.goo.gl/Z1a1Lx6JFnzykrFR7
22:56:05 <hsn> accepted after printing the paper or before ?
23:02:39 <Ysjoelfir> haha :D
23:05:49 <Ysjoelfir> btw, rust_collector... today I will finally be testing my new welder :X
23:06:07 <Ysjoelfir> removed the kickstand from my motorbike yesterday, have to weld a bit on that
23:06:51 <rust_collector> find some other junk to try it on a bit first?
23:07:11 <Ysjoelfir> that kickstand is basically a piece of junk tbh
23:08:44 <Ysjoelfir> reason: the stand has some... flanges, which keep it from tipping over to much. but when people kickstart the bike while its standing on the kickstand those flanges tend to just get squished and the bike will end up with both wheels on the floor
23:09:44 <Ysjoelfir> as I nearly never use the main stand but only the side stand I don't care if it looks fucked up in the end
23:09:57 <Ysjoelfir> also, I just simply don't have any steel or iron to practice on :X

23:28:16 <hsn> hah, i use RCD xD
23:34:40 <Guest|90765> Purpose is to find why my RCD/MCBO is tripping.
23:35:49 <Ysjoelfir> Classic method would be: disconnect everything from the tripping circuit, replug one for one, see when it trips again. found your failed device.
23:35:49 <EEVBlog> 42, Ysjoelfir!
23:35:58 <Ysjoelfir> erm... sure, EEVBlog
23:36:19 <Ampera> it's funny that I'm the only one who knows exactly why he does that
23:36:38 <Ysjoelfir> If you don't find a specific device it gets more interesting, now you need to try combinations of devices :D
23:36:44 <Ampera> oh I should detour and work on V3
23:36:47 <Ysjoelfir> Ampera - I realy wonder why it does that :D
23:36:51 <Guest|90765> Yes, done that. Its a light circuit - so s bit more involved.
23:37:08 <Ampera> The EEVBot is set to have a chance of randomly replying to certain keywords that people say
23:37:18 <Guest|90765> I have an fault.
23:37:27 <Guest|90765> a intermittent fault..
23:37:34 <Ampera> Guest|90765, so do I, as a person
23:37:40 <Ampera> I think the chance is anywhere between 1 in 100 and 1 in 400 depending on what keyword set
23:37:40 <Ysjoelfir> I wonder which keyword this is^^
23:37:47 <Ampera> "everything"
23:38:01 <Ampera> as in, the answer to the meaning of life, the universe, and everything
23:38:21 <Guest|90765> This will do the trick - though out of my budget:
23:38:21 <rust_collector> hmm, the "cheap" uni-t clamp does mA things
23:38:22 <Guest|90765> v

23:47:27 <Ampera> Ysjoelfir, it was the easiest way to make the bot more interesting than just a twitter proxy
23:47:37 <Ampera> I hope to expand upon that when I make the new version, at some point
23:47:59 <Ysjoelfir> I like the bot and think you should definitely keep on working on it and give it even more features :D
23:49:37 <Watcher> he, the bot is very good and understand pretty good the context of the chat and the grammatily jokes of a real person
23:50:37 <Watcher> * he = ye
23:56:47 <K> Ampera, what about !write and !read ?
23:58:03 <Ampera> K, huh?
23:58:06 <K> that or finding a sugar daddy to pay for resources to run gpt-3 for smaltalk
23:58:45 <K> well, !write adds funny stuff to list, !read takes one randomly out
23:58:58 <Ampera> ah, no it doesn't do that
23:59:01 <K> not completely out, but just plays it back
