00:05:19 <Ampera> NeroTHz, I actually store music on my phone
00:06:40 <rust_collector> hmm, I noticed that the last batch of trucks we got, had dual sd card slots... which I think is a weird choice
00:09:03 <rust_collector> sure, they also have usb and aux, and bluetooth, and wifi, but...
00:10:55 <rust_collector> hmm, ok, the sds are for the navigation stuff
00:21:57 <rust_collector> whee! my parts are at the local kiwi. I should probably pick those up before work
00:29:03 <Ysjoelfir> I always wondered where your stuff gets delivered, when I learned that the mailboxes for all people living in a road are usually somewhere at the beginning of the road. :D
00:31:45 <rust_collector> yeah, but it depends
00:33:30 <rust_collector> if the swedish post delivers, they have little hooks so they just hang things off the letterbox. if it is something big, they will either take it to the store, or just dump it outside your door. if it is the norwegian post, they will put it at the store, except if you have ordered home delivery
00:34:50 <rust_collector> hmm, and last week, the wife had ordered a pallet of dog food, so I had to call the office and tell them to just drop it under the roof, by the door.
00:36:12 <Ysjoelfir> I somehow like that system
00:36:41 <Ysjoelfir> sounds like a systeh where you usually know where your stuff probably is
00:37:35 <rust_collector> yeah, it is most of the time at the store, or flapping in the wind around the letterbox, or you will have something blocking your door
00:38:09 <Ysjoelfir> exactly
00:38:30 <Ysjoelfir> here its like "we have delivered your package at the specified position"
00:38:31 <Ysjoelfir> erm...
00:38:38 <Ysjoelfir> I didn't specify anything?
00:39:20 <rust_collector> well, both the sewdish post and out post tends to be at the store around 16, so I usually go pick it up there, and the guy is usually happy about not going to our little road in his truck
00:39:37 <Ysjoelfir> also common: you order something to the Packstation (basically a giant mailbox for packages with individual compartments). get a message: your package was delivered to your packstation *somewhere like 20 kilometers away* as you specified
00:39:51 <Ysjoelfir> hehe^^
00:39:57 <rust_collector> that is nice
00:40:48 <Ysjoelfir> Thats especially nice if you have specified the Packstation which is like 100 meters from your apartment, so that you don't have to drive into the middle of the city where there are no parkind spots to collect your package
00:40:49 <rust_collector> they are starting to use those box-boxes here too. I have not really seen one yet
00:41:01 <rust_collector> right
00:42:02 <Ysjoelfir> and a very special treat for me: "We delivered your package to *the post office I am not allowed to enter anymore and I explicitly state on my doorbell, that under no circumstances packages are to be delivered there*"
00:42:12 <rust_collector> then you call and tell them to fix their mistake, and they say "yes, certainly, right away mr sir" then they pick it out of the box, and go 50km the other way, and put it in a box there
00:42:46 <Ysjoelfir> no, they are like "pff, touch luck, try to get it, if you don't get it in 5 days we just return it to the sender on his cost"
00:42:49 <rust_collector> ooh, up here it is hard to get banned from the post office
00:42:50 <Ysjoelfir> *tough
00:43:48 <rust_collector> I guess I have an easier time than most, being a "mailman"
00:44:20 <rust_collector> no one down at the store even looks at me if I raid their shelves, which is nice
00:44:53 <Ysjoelfir> well, I managed to do that here because the owner of that "post shop" (its not even an office, its like a kiosk which happenes to do post stuff, too, as real offices are to expensive to maintain for german post) is a dick. they have stickers in their windows like "parking is only allowed for 5 minutes and only for customers". so I parked there, went out, got my mail, went one step away from my car to go to the ATM machine at the next
00:44:53 <Ysjoelfir> building, and he came out, screaming at me. which I didn't appreciate.
00:45:01 <Ysjoelfir> lol
00:45:51 <rust_collector> he was just trying to have a conversation...
00:46:01 <rust_collector> ok, I have to go. have fun
00:46:04 <Ysjoelfir> no, he was a dickhead
00:46:11 <rust_collector> yes, as I said
00:46:13 <Ysjoelfir> I'm leaving work, too. enjoy your work rusty :)
00:46:21 <rust_collector> NEVERRRR!
00:46:27 <Ysjoelfir> and don't steal that many mails today!
00:46:59 <rust_collector> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jHQqcky_Aw
00:47:22 <Ysjoelfir> hehe
01:01:22 <hsn> Ysjoelfir, Ysjoelfir ..
01:01:35 <hsn> just wasted 2 hours drawing somthing
01:01:52 <hsn> and i might make some company named guide or document / standard ..
01:02:03 <hsn> what ever will convince the boss that im proffessional
01:02:27 <hsn> https://snipboard.io/q2cWLw.jpg
01:02:47 <hsn> remove names and dimensions and put some table with 2-3 sizes of wires and contacts xD
01:02:59 <hsn> to make it look like woah this guy calculated things
01:03:04 * electrohead viciously chokes nvidia and their drivers
01:03:34 <hsn> electrohead, did u try chineese type stuff drivers?
01:03:43 <electrohead> huh?
01:04:39 <hsn> china PC hardware
01:05:10 <hsn> manufacturers
01:08:04 <electrohead> ok
01:10:15 <coppice> hsn: crimp it. solder is a route to terrible reliability
01:11:05 <hsn> coppice but the wire size = max contact size
01:11:33 <hsn> i cant make 2 wires in the crimp area
01:12:03 <electrohead> 'solder is a route to terrible reliability' can I ask how so?
01:12:39 <coppice> hsn: then use a crimp sleeve of a suitable size to merge the 2 wire. solder and multi-strand cable == quick failures if the wiring is subject to any level of flexing
01:12:57 <coppice> electrohead: wicking
01:13:59 <electrohead> that explains so much, thank you
01:14:27 <coppice> look it up. its a well documented problem with soldering multi-strand cables
01:14:48 <hsn> ok
01:14:52 <hsn> thanks coppice
01:21:28 <electrohead> fuck yes, finally got my damn nvidia card to work on my laptop
01:21:32 * electrohead still kicks it
01:21:56 <electrohead> for how much I love linux, sometimes it can be a damn headache
01:22:22 <electrohead> coppice: sorry if I came off like an a-hole a tiny bit
01:23:01 <electrohead> but, what's the actual issue with multi-strand cables? I ask because I've never ran into issues with soldering wires like that
01:29:29 <coppice> the solder wicks up the strands. Where it stops you have a stress point. It doesn't take a lot of flexing of your flexible cable to make the wire break off at that point. if you are using multi-strand inside a box, and the cable won't get flexed after final assembly, it may not matter too much
01:31:47 <hsn> what if u cable tie the cables before the solder point with short distance
01:31:51 <hsn> coppice
01:32:46 <electrohead> ahh ok, yeah I see your point with that. I normally utilize strain relief the best I can to make sure that doesn't happen
01:33:47 <electrohead> also, technically you can use heat clamps (if that's the correct term) on the wire to help prevent that
01:52:56 <coppice> heat clamps reduce how far the wicking goes, but they don't really stop the problem
01:55:06 <clarkos> Coppoce, is that why the wire is sometimes stiff behind the insulation but near the solder joint?
01:55:17 <hsn> https://www.eevblog.com/forum/projects/crimp-*and*-solder-a-crimp-connector-good-bad/
01:55:18 <coppice> yes
01:55:57 <clarkos> Ah good to know.
01:56:58 <clarkos> I personally hate bare wires soldered to boards.
01:57:38 <clarkos> Some manufacturers will poke the wire through a hole then in the PCB then through the actual solder joint.
01:57:51 <clarkos> So any flexing of the wires then is on the wire itself, not the joint.
01:58:04 <electrohead> I do the same as well with wires and PCBs
01:58:10 <electrohead> works well :)
01:58:25 <clarkos> It's a zero cost option too lol.
01:58:42 <electrohead> https://www.amazon.com/CLIP-HEAT-SINK-KIT/dp/B0032UYTV6
01:58:52 <electrohead> and, these are the heat sinks/clamps I was refering to
01:59:14 <electrohead> I have had a bunch of these for a long time, and still use them
02:00:09 <electrohead> also, for how tacky it could be, hot glue is a saint for strain relief
02:00:24 <electrohead> well, depends on visibility xD
02:00:48 <Ampera> well I poked my head up at the news for the first time in a while
02:01:07 <Ampera> to find that people are still rioting and breaking shit, burning buildings down
02:01:54 <electrohead> funny you just said that, man
02:02:00 <electrohead> was just reading about the latest and greatest
02:02:07 <electrohead> wisconsin is the latest victim, yay
02:02:17 <Ampera> so was I, and how his family is begging everyone to not destroy entire neighborhoods
02:02:24 <electrohead> it's a fucking shame
02:02:26 <electrohead> =\
02:02:39 <Ampera> It's a case of nobody is winning, everyone is losing
02:02:58 <Ampera> the police doesn't get better because now they have all the justification they need to get violent
02:02:58 <electrohead> \o/
02:03:14 <Ampera> and innocent civilians are losing their homes, businesses, and property
02:03:16 <Ampera> and in some case lives
02:03:30 <electrohead> I just watched a video of some dude shooting a bunch of people, you see that one yet?
02:03:35 <Ampera> which one
02:03:36 <coppice> Ampera: whenever bad things are happening, somebody is winning. A handful of tech owners made $35B just last week by stirring up trouble
02:03:52 <Ampera> coppice, I don't doubt the media is winning
02:04:04 <coppice> no, the media is crumbling
02:04:26 <Ampera> maybe their servers are due to load, this is a sensation and everyone is talking about it
02:04:40 <electrohead> oh, wait, there's multiple videos of people shooting people in wisconsin, now
02:04:41 <Ampera> which probably means engagement is up like nuts across the board
02:04:43 <electrohead> my bad >.<
02:04:48 <coppice> but the media is seeing layoffs all over the place
02:04:52 <Ampera> electrohead, across America
02:05:15 <Ampera> coppice, I've noticed it's largely been with some of the particularly shittier media outlets
02:05:34 <Ampera> the sorta vice/vox/huffpost/buzzfeed tier shit
02:05:35 <coppice> they are all particularly shitty
02:05:48 <coppice> CNN, MSNBC, NBC, NYT
02:05:55 <Ampera> no tears cried over them
02:06:08 <Ampera> especially the NYT, I've seen some really awful, racist shit coming out of them recently
02:06:10 <Ampera> not that I keep up with them
02:06:48 <electrohead> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOck_ciFt5w
02:06:59 <electrohead> I'm trying to find links that aren't on reddit or other weird sites
02:07:03 <Ampera> electrohead, if that's video of people being shot I don't want it here
02:07:12 <electrohead> that's a news clip
02:07:18 <Ampera> well I wasn't clicking it to find out
02:07:44 <Ampera> it's just a warning
02:07:54 <electrohead> you're warning me, huh?
02:08:08 <Ampera> Yes, because I do not want videos of people being shot in the channel
02:08:12 <coppice> Ampera: most of them are racist. its this year's hottest fashion, but you call it anti-racist
02:08:24 <Ampera> coppice, oh yeah, it's racism but cool now
02:09:05 <Ampera> Violence is excuse for violence, racism is excuse for racism.
02:09:48 <Ampera> I guess people in general will never truly understand the basics of peace and getting change.
02:10:19 <Ampera> Sorta makes one wish more shits were given to our education system
02:10:58 <coppice> oh, your education system has certainly been shat upon
02:11:29 <Ampera> all of our systems have, because, just like the populous, the government is full of people who don't understand how to cooperate and lay down arms
02:11:34 <electrohead> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDmOGN-x0ls
02:11:43 <electrohead> (that's a clip from south park)
02:12:06 <electrohead> and, not sure if that's even playable in some countries
02:14:54 <coppice> then make it playable. remember, the only true power is violence.
02:15:29 <Ampera> coppice, a power the US has in equal measure it seems, so it's ultimately a waiting game to see who goes too far first
02:15:31 <electrohead> lol
02:16:38 <coppice> so, VW bought Seat and established it as a source of budget restyled VWs. Now Seat has a luxury brand, Cupra. How is that supposed to work?
02:17:50 <Ampera> coppice, maybe it's a money laundering scheme
02:18:14 <coppice> Ampera: the republicans may be a awful shower, but it seems like every place run by the democrats has turned into a large public toilet. How do they have such a hold on their voters that they never get kicked out?
02:18:47 <Ampera> coppice, because for years (and for some people still today) there was a hero and villain mentality in society in a lot of places
02:18:57 <Ampera> where democrats were by default the good guys, and voting for republicans was like voting for hitler
02:19:05 <Ampera> when in reality they're both equally garbage
02:19:56 <Ampera> Democrats were/are the socialists, so they had all this fancy people loving stuff in mind that people lapped up
02:20:12 <coppice> for all their faults, republican run places seem head and shoulders above the democrats right now
02:20:44 <Ampera> It's always a mixed bag, but I'd say so. The issue really is having too much of either
02:20:52 <coppice> The democrats have always been the party of slavery and racism. They just created the illusion of change in the 1960s
02:21:07 <electrohead> you two should become politicians :P
02:21:37 <Ampera> coppice, it's not quite that simple I'm afraid, but you're not that wrong either.
02:22:00 <Ampera> The matter is that the parties really don't have ideologies, they are more overblown voting tribes and cool kids clubs
02:22:22 <Ampera> and borderline gangs in recent years, where simply having the wrong voting opinion was/is enough to get you fired in some places
02:22:33 <Ampera> and I mean /fired/
02:22:41 <Ampera> like, out of a cannon, into orbit
02:23:00 <coppice> they do have ideologies. republicans == big business first. democrats == wall street and rent seekers first
02:23:38 <Ampera> The sad part is those are often the same people
02:24:13 <Ampera> I've given up with caring about parties
02:24:28 <electrohead> maybe the whole underlying system needs to be changed, and delete the multiple sides within one country
02:24:35 <electrohead> but, that's my only opinion
02:24:36 <Ampera> I'm personally non-aligned
02:25:03 <Ampera> The federation is a sound concept and is largely what's made a terrible situation not truly catastrophic
02:25:14 <Ampera> Er
02:25:29 <Ampera> nvm, I thought you said states, not sides
02:25:46 <electrohead> ;)
02:26:03 <hsn> so whats up with rioting .. why ?
02:26:13 <Ampera> People are bored and stupid
02:26:34 <Ampera> There are genuine problems, but people who are actually upset are protesting not rioting
02:26:56 <coppice> hsn: inprision the population for a while, and what do you expect?
02:27:05 <Ampera> That too
02:27:33 <hsn> coppice we have that but no power to riot xD
02:27:51 <hsn> so we just shut our asses
02:27:58 <electrohead> who else thinks that there are too many opinions in this world?
02:28:02 <hsn> and say .. yes sirs
02:28:03 <Ampera> the issue here is rioters are a catch 22
02:28:11 <Ampera> do nothing, and they will destroy everything
02:28:24 <Ampera> do something, and you're gonna have to use lethal force on civilians
02:28:33 <Ampera> electrohead, not me
02:28:38 <electrohead> I can tell
02:28:39 <Ampera> diversity of opinion is not the problem
02:28:46 <Ampera> it's people who hate diversity of opinion who are the problem
02:29:05 <Ampera> specifically people who will act out if someone disagrees with them, instead of trying to find a mutually beneficial compromise
02:29:18 <Ampera> yaknow, children
02:30:40 <Ampera> I'd say right now the common fault with Democrats is their insane unwillingness to cooperate with anyone ever
02:31:02 <Ampera> as they (being a generalization) have the thought in their head that if people are not with them, they're against them all the way
02:31:11 <electrohead> seriously man, become a politician, I'd back you
02:31:23 <Ampera> the issue with that is I don't have money
02:31:31 <Ampera> politics, more than anything else, is a sponsorship battle
02:31:41 <Ampera> and I am very much against the very concept of money in politics
02:31:50 <electrohead> you don't have money? o.O
02:31:52 <electrohead> lol
02:31:58 <Ampera> not on the order required to gain office
02:32:02 <electrohead> :p
02:32:09 <coppice> Ampera: no good politician spends their own money
02:32:11 <Ampera> The reason anyone becomes President, for example, is that they had enough money
02:32:26 <Ampera> coppice, of course, but I detest the notion of spending the money of private companies for political ends
02:32:35 <Ampera> and that's exactly what I would have to do in order to gain political power
02:33:14 <electrohead> you need to know the right people, as well
02:33:32 <Ampera> people I don't care to know
02:33:46 <Ampera> ultimately politics used to be a hobby of mine, but I realized that it's really a futile effort, especially right now
02:33:49 <electrohead> "the big club"
02:33:54 <electrohead> and none of us are a part of it
02:33:57 <Ampera> I'll come back when people have settle the fuck down and learned to behave like rational people
02:34:03 * Ampera checks watch
02:34:07 <Ampera> so about a thousand years
02:34:16 <electrohead> and history repeats.
02:34:25 * electrohead finishes eating his popcorn
02:38:51 <hsn> poorn?
02:39:50 * electrohead hides his porn stash
02:41:32 <coppice> "advanced cancer" sounds so much better than plain old "cancer"
02:42:52 <electrohead> lol
02:43:09 <electrohead> you should put a version/revision number next to it
02:43:16 <Ampera> coppice, wait until you get cancer in SLI
02:48:11 <coppice> "What if We Could Live for a Million Years?" - I think I'd need to see a dentist
02:48:39 <electrohead> a million years? holy shit
02:48:53 <coppice> https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/what-if-we-could-live-for-a-million-years/?utm_source=pocket-newtab-global-en-GB
02:49:03 <Ampera> I don't want to live now and I've only been alive for 18
02:49:13 <electrohead> there would be a lot of damn people by then, hahaha
02:49:51 <coppice> Ampera: don't worry. it won't last forever
02:50:10 <Ampera> coppice, I don't want it to last at all
02:50:58 <electrohead> Ampera: so, I'm starting to work on this phone, got the cameras working finally
02:51:09 <electrohead> had to manually compile the drivers for them
02:51:29 <Ampera> nice, are they any good?
02:51:38 <electrohead> they aren't bad at all :)
02:52:21 <electrohead> the front camera could be a slightly higher resolution, but no complaining about it
02:53:58 <coppice> electrohead: which phone are you working with?
02:54:27 <electrohead> the pinephone
02:54:37 <electrohead> UBports edition
02:55:51 <electrohead> mm, not the newest revision that has the more memory and storage *
02:57:02 <coppice> An Allwinner based phone? I didn't know they made ULP silicon for phones
02:58:34 <Ampera> coppice, ultimately it was just not going to be powerful enough for what I wanted it for, and I didn't have time to set it up and get it going, so I gave it to electrohead
02:58:40 <Ampera> (used to be my phone)
02:58:52 <Ampera> Their Pinebook Pro is a far more compelling option
02:59:20 <electrohead> I like their hardware more for the prices, doesn't kill the pocket much
02:59:33 <Ampera> honestly that phone was insanely expensive for the hardware it has in it
02:59:46 <Ampera> it was more of an impulse buy to be honest
03:00:00 <Ampera> I'm just glad you got something fun to play with
03:00:21 <electrohead> yeah, thanks again
03:01:01 <electrohead> I'm going to get the pinetime watch to play with for sure
03:01:08 <electrohead> well, just because
03:02:40 <electrohead> but, I have car parts to buy, and my car to work on, before I decide to put a lot of time into this phone, and go after the watch. one thing at a time
03:02:59 <Ampera> my car is another story entirely
03:05:55 <electrohead> I left mine sit around a bit too long, now I get to deal with a small mold issue, and a few rust spots here and there. also need to fix the dent in the side from the damn tree stump (going off road/rallying)
03:10:23 <coppice> mould? is the car a bit leaky?
03:13:43 <electrohead> a tiny bit, but the bigger issue is that I live on a hill, and don't have a garage
03:13:53 Join: Nothing\ ([email protected]) to #EEVblog
03:14:01 <Nothing\> heyall
03:14:03 <Ampera> Nothing\ to see here
03:14:09 * Ampera hugs Nothing\
03:14:12 <electrohead> so it's parked facing downhill, and water pools up on the back somewhere, and then slowly leaks in
03:14:14 <electrohead> yay
03:14:15 <Nothing\> i noticed the fans on my gpu aren't moving
03:14:35 <Nothing\> i'm wondering if it's an energy saving thing where they turn on only when needed so i'm gonna do a stress test to see
03:14:36 <Ampera> That can be normal if they're not under load
03:14:55 <Ampera> I'd say it's more about noise, but yeah
03:14:58 <electrohead> does the heat sink feel hot to the touch?
03:14:58 <Ampera> they don't spin if they're not needed
03:14:59 <Nothing\> yeah and it's a 1660ti so i'd imagine it has that feature
03:15:03 <Ampera> yep
03:15:24 <Nothing\> oh yeah lol
03:15:29 <Nothing\> jim jong un is gonna die
03:15:33 <Ampera> If you want to check if they're still working, download a tool like MSI Afterburner, and you can manually control the fan speed in it
03:15:43 <Ampera> he's been in a coma for months
03:15:45 <Nothing\> Ampera, heh that's exactly what i'm doing
03:15:46 <Ampera> so probably
03:15:55 <Nothing\> Ampera, yeah they figured his public appearances were fake
03:16:00 <Nothing\> which i totally agree with
03:16:24 <Nothing\> most recent pic i saw of him before i read the other articles i remember thinking he didn't look right somehow
03:16:39 <Ampera> I wonder how the more female dictators people are feeling now
03:16:56 <Nothing\> "he looks funny. but not 'ha ha' funny"
03:17:15 <Nothing\> well they're gonna bring his sister in as leader
03:17:23 <Nothing\> but they think she'll be more hardline than he was
03:17:32 <Nothing\> a bigger despot
03:17:43 <Ampera> back when I was still on Twitter, and this all came out
03:17:54 <Ampera> there were a bunch of people who were really excited that it was gonna be a female dictator
03:18:03 <Ampera> and were upset that north korea was going to get a female leader before the US
03:18:12 <Nothing\> lol yeah no shit
03:18:19 <Ampera> which is the kind of brain damage I believe constitutes a mercy killing to be honest.
03:18:23 <Nothing\> hell, the US even has its own gulags
03:18:40 <Ampera> depends on how you define gulag
03:18:42 <Nothing\> they're not called such, but i guarantee you the conditions are probably just bad
03:18:51 <Nothing\> maybe not the food
03:19:00 <Ampera> we have torture prisons, like Guantanamo Bay
03:19:07 <Nothing\> watching larry lawton's channel, i'd wager the federal system is fucked
03:19:12 <Nothing\> yeah
03:19:23 <Nothing\> even regular prisons are torture prisons
03:19:28 <Ampera> but I'd rather go to a for-profit federal prison than a North Korean concentration camp
03:19:34 <Ampera> not on the scale of North Korea
03:19:43 <Nothing\> on larry lawton's channel he talked about how he was in the hole for 11 monhs straight
03:19:54 <Ampera> I'd rather be in the hole
03:19:57 <Nothing\> the guy next to him was losing his shit cuz who wouldn't
03:19:59 <coppice> there is a whole generation that needs to read the Gulag Archipelago
03:20:05 <Nothing\> so the SORT team came in
03:20:09 <Nothing\> beat him severely
03:20:10 <Ampera> I've seen the torture mechanisms they use in north korea
03:20:25 <Ampera> I'm not saying the US system is good, but we're not North Korea
03:20:28 <Nothing\> and broke his leg so bad, larry could hear the snap from his cell next door
03:21:09 <Ampera> I definitely believe that solitary confinement is a cruel punishment
03:21:16 <Ampera> and that for profit-prisons should be illegal
03:21:23 <Nothing\> Ampera, me too
03:21:45 <Ampera> but considering we can't keep people from burning town entire towns and suburbs, there's not much hope for that happening any time soon
03:21:48 <Nothing\> apparently with this covid thing, every juvenile who enters the prison system has to stay in solitary for 3 weeks straight
03:22:08 <Ampera> the only sort of punitive reform we get is idiots like Cuomo releasing all light offenders and setting bail to zero
03:22:13 <Nothing\> anywho i'we gotta go get weed
03:22:18 <Ampera> have fun
03:22:21 <Nothing\> yeah we need to focus more on reform
03:22:27 <Nothing\> the system's a fucking joke
03:22:31 <Nothing\> if there ever was one
03:22:33 <Ampera> well you're Canadian
03:22:42 <Nothing\> it's not as bad here, but it's bad
03:22:43 <Ampera> but the US is too busy being fucking retarded for reform
03:22:46 <coppice> Ampera: Didn't cuomo release a rapist who's first action was to go and kill his victim?
03:22:59 <Ampera> coppice, I have no clue
03:23:07 <Nothing\> dude
03:23:15 <Ampera> and I'm hesitant to say cuomo did whatever because there's someone else who's supposed to take the fall for it
03:23:23 <Nothing\> there are fucking pics of clinton getting a massage from giuffre, epstein's sex slave
03:23:28 <Nothing\> and nobody's done a thing about it
03:23:52 <Ampera> that's what money does
03:23:52 <Nothing\> prince andrew's still at large, like giuffre said if it were anyone else he'd be in prison
03:23:56 <Nothing\> but not a royal
03:24:05 <coppice> Ampera: they let out really serious offenders when the COVID thing started. Just like murdering the elderly in care homes I guess it cuts the government's costs
03:24:24 <Nothing\> coppice, lol i was let out
03:24:33 <Nothing\> i was supposed to be serving weekends since february
03:24:43 <Ampera> coppice, don't worry, they're having the people they haven't let out manufacture hand sanitizer for pennies an hour
03:24:44 <Nothing\> and my sentence just ended last weekend
03:24:52 <Nothing\> i spent all of 5 weekends behind bars
03:24:58 <Nothing\> which, i actually kinda liked
03:25:02 <Ampera> because it's not slavery if you don't consider them people
03:25:06 <Nothing\> it was fun in there, aside from the lack of freedom
03:25:16 <Nothing\> just sat around, shooting the shit and watching tv
03:25:22 <Nothing\> or reading if nothing good's on
03:25:32 <coppice> Ampera: its only slavery when its other country's prisoners
03:25:55 <Ampera> haha
03:25:58 <Nothing\> coppice, what about US slavery?
03:26:09 <Nothing\> anyways brb
03:26:20 <Ampera> what do you think US slaves were
03:26:43 <Ampera> they were POWs sold by other africans who captured them
03:26:51 <Ampera> largely anyways
03:27:12 <Ampera> but that's not often mentioned because there has to be a bad guy and a good guy in slavery, and the truth just mixes it up too much
03:28:20 <coppice> I find it interesting that they people in the US who complain the most about how awful slavery in the US was seem perfectly content with slavery right now
03:28:57 <Ampera> coppice, most often the people complaining aren't even descended from slaves
03:30:14 <Ampera> People here, and potentially in the world have a nice habit of using the historical and present pain and suffering of people as leverage to gain political and economic power
03:30:25 Part: electrohead ([email protected]) from #EEVblog (/dev/null)
03:30:58 <Ampera> like how apparently there was a BLM donations page that ended up directing most of its funds to the democratic party
03:37:27 <coppice> so, how many black lives did people donate?
03:38:44 <Ampera> coppice, some people I wouldn't have expected to donate did
03:38:52 <Ampera> which is really sad as those all ended up being political donations
03:39:17 <coppice> Ampera: there will be lots of "please don't hurt me" donations
03:39:22 <Ampera> What's even dumber is that BLM is an amorphous collective
03:39:31 <Ampera> They have no leaders, there are no members
03:39:38 <Ampera> there is no vote as to how to spend those funds
03:39:52 <Ampera> Organization is usually sparse and local for any protests or events
04:29:55 <Nothing\> there
04:30:33 <Nothing\> 80mg of methadone, 195mg of dextromethorphan, some amount of pot, 15mg of ativan
04:30:47 <Nothing\> plus whatever nitrous they give me 70/30 mix he told me
04:31:00 <Nothing\> that oughta see me through this dentist apt
04:31:10 <Nothing\> getting 2 teeth pulled, fun times
04:31:16 <Nothing\> surgically
04:31:25 <steve30> ouch
04:31:41 <Nothing\> yeah i'm hoping i'll be as out of it as i was last time i had an extraction
04:31:50 <Nothing\> cuz i didn't even notice him take the teeth out
04:31:54 <Nothing\> much less feel any pain
04:38:36 <Ampera> Nothing\, nice horse tranquilizer
04:40:28 <Nothing\> frankly you'd be lucky if it didn't kill the horse
04:40:49 <Nothing\> the methadone alone would be a fatal dose to a regular person with no tolerance
04:41:09 <Nothing\> it even says so on the bottle
04:41:11 <Ampera> nothing more tranquil than death :P
04:41:18 <Nothing\> lol
04:41:25 <Nothing\> mortuease
04:41:47 <Nothing\> kevorkian's own special blend
04:42:14 <Nothing\> lol i came across a strain of weed at the pot shop the other day called "justin trudeau"
04:42:25 <Ampera> was it black?
04:42:28 <Nothing\> it's funny sometimes the names they came up with these
04:42:31 <Nothing\> lol no
04:42:40 <Ampera> ah, it was only pretending to be then
04:42:45 <Nothing\> exactly
04:43:01 <Nothing\> bah, gotta call my PO in a few minutes
04:43:10 <Nothing\> busy day today (for me)
04:43:14 <Ampera> have fun
04:43:24 <Nothing\> she's usually pretty easy to get along with
04:43:36 <Ampera> that's good
04:43:45 <Nothing\> just asksi if i've been behaving, if i've had any contact with cops etc and that that
04:43:59 <Nothing\> sometimes asks about the cats cuz i told her when i got smokey
04:44:54 <Nothing\> eh maybe i'll call now
04:44:55 <Nothing\> brb

07:49:31 <rust_collector> hsn, wth are you spamming for? you could at least write random crap, not just copy links
07:50:03 <hsn> rust_collector, random crap
07:50:30 <rust_collector> better
07:50:34 <hsn> xD
07:50:52 <hsn> also i was almost sleeping u vibrated me
07:51:06 <rust_collector> you can thank me tomorrow
07:51:17 <hsn> i thank u tonight
07:51:24 <rust_collector> oh. any time
07:51:26 <rust_collector> hsn,
07:51:30 <hsn> i ve video to complete
07:51:34 <rust_collector> oh
07:51:35 <hsn> xD
07:51:57 <rust_collector> hsn, DRRRRRRRRR!
07:52:09 <hsn> yes im in same window
07:52:24 <hsn> no vibration for now
07:52:41 <hsn> its crimping video
07:55:35 <rust_collector> STOP OVERTHINKING IT!!! arrgh, use the tool you are supposed to use with the end thingie, and just do it
07:58:11 <rust_collector> hsn, ?? are you still in the same window?
07:58:13 <hsn> no not overthinking at all .. just got intrested after coppice inputs
07:58:47 <rust_collector> ok, I guess he had some kind of fact-like things
07:58:57 <hsn> yeah i slept again on the video so i closed the video and came to say gn
07:59:08 <rust_collector> arrrgh
07:59:20 <hsn> yeah found 2 post on eevblog that i ll read
07:59:31 <rust_collector> so, you will almost crimp it, then spot weld them?
07:59:33 <hsn> and somthing called cold weld
07:59:56 <rust_collector> right. that is a pretty interesting thing.
08:00:14 <hsn> well for now i ll stick with soldering them then crimping
08:00:28 <rust_collector> soldering then crimping?
08:00:43 <rust_collector> that seems if nothing else backwards to me, but
08:00:53 <hsn> https://photos.app.goo.gl/HMEqVwUYojFXq9HU7
08:01:33 <rust_collector> oh, yes. but try to keep the solder out of where will crimp
08:01:34 <hsn> later for non prototype i may do that ring crimp thingy
08:02:08 <hsn> yes 5-10mm away to avoid stiffness
08:02:51 <rust_collector> If you care, I think I would go further back, and remove the insulation and solder it there. but yeah, same idea, I guess
08:03:03 <hsn> but im still intrested to learn about it .. not for the job it self ... for my knowledge .. so little more research tmrw
08:03:26 <hsn> with lighter suggestion?
08:03:58 <rust_collector> if you look at the powerline stuff, they tend to have a bit about crimping and cold welding, and stuff.
08:04:10 <rust_collector> not with the lighter, but...
08:04:47 <rust_collector> nah, just get it hooked up and working, it will be fine
08:04:51 <hsn> cool will check few vids tommorow always fun
08:05:10 <rust_collector> it is just bigger, the idea stays the same
08:07:32 <rust_collector> well, good night, hsn
08:07:49 <hsn> gn enjoy ur dreams

21:30:53 <electrohead> o/
21:31:06 <Ysjoelfir> hi mr. head
21:31:13 <electrohead> hey mr. fir
21:31:37 <Ysjoelfir> how can you know that I'm a mr? :P
21:31:53 <electrohead> oh, well in that case, what are you?
21:31:57 <electrohead> guy or girl?
21:32:47 <Ysjoelfir> I am an artificial intelligence, omnipresent in the universe. So you can say I am nothing. or anything. depends on your view of things.
21:32:59 <rust_collector> do you mean while he is at work of after work, and what happans when he has his lunch?
21:33:07 <Ysjoelfir> XD
21:35:03 <rust_collector> I should be less lazy, and find something that is a bit more load than this little fan....
21:36:19 <rust_collector> oh, and is (F2) a place in china?
21:36:37 * Ysjoelfir hands rust_collector a red onion van which should be heavy enough to load his thing
21:36:46 <Ysjoelfir> I dunno about china. ask mr. head :)
21:37:02 <rust_collector> could be factory 2, I guess
21:37:37 <hsn> formoula 2
21:38:35 <electrohead> ask me about what?
21:38:42 <rust_collector> china
21:38:42 <hsn> about f2
21:38:42 <Ysjoelfir> things.
21:38:49 <Ysjoelfir> lol
21:39:01 <hsn> guys .. one answer
21:39:02 <hsn> xD
21:39:13 <electrohead> ??
21:39:32 <hsn> 3 guys cant troll joke with different answers ..
21:39:53 <rust_collector> one answer, 3 questions
21:40:00 <electrohead> so you all are messing with me?
21:40:07 <hsn> no
21:40:10 <Ysjoelfir> noone would
21:40:14 <hsn> what are we
21:40:29 <electrohead> y'all are weird
21:40:32 <hsn> teletubbies to u ?
21:40:42 <hsn> u think we are a joke ?
21:40:47 <electrohead> I do, now
21:40:50 <electrohead> ;P
21:40:53 <hsn> xD
21:41:05 <rust_collector> hsn, are you communist or something?
21:41:32 <hsn> rusty, im a lot of things in one thing
21:42:26 <hsn> i tend to be little of many things.. but in reality idk what im ..
21:43:33 <rust_collector> a simple yes would do...
21:43:49 <hsn> i can say im not with "minority rule"
21:45:15 <hsn> im not fully with communisim or democracy or dectatorship type of things .. but somewhere in between all of the three i guess ?
21:46:15 <electrohead> yay politics
21:47:03 <hsn> nah
21:47:12 <hsn> no politics for me
21:47:31 <rust_collector> just normal tics
21:48:37 <rust_collector> they hide in one of his ac units while he is home, until he falls asleep
21:48:49 <Ysjoelfir> or just ruditics
21:49:33 <hsn> the world is full of egoism .. i just hate all type of whatever is this "politics things" called ..
21:50:22 <hsn> tics?
21:50:25 <rust_collector> oh crap, now I wish I had asked ak or ar or something simple like that
21:50:47 <hsn> rusty but .. i got 1 ac that is leaking water
21:50:50 <hsn> in the wall ..
21:51:10 <rust_collector> oh good. uhm, make it stop doing that?
21:51:15 <hsn> u think these tics are full in that ac?
21:51:18 <electrohead> ew, not good
21:51:34 <Ysjoelfir> those must be the ruditics
21:51:35 <electrohead> make sure you don't have a mold issue, then, that'll suck the worst
21:51:40 <Ysjoelfir> they are always rude and make things leak
21:51:49 <Ysjoelfir> hsn won't have mold
21:51:54 <Ysjoelfir> its too hot there for mold to grow
21:52:05 <electrohead> ahh, just his vagina gets moldy then? xD
21:52:06 <Ysjoelfir> it'll just burst into flames the second it builds up
21:52:26 <Ysjoelfir> That you must ask his wife :D I am not involved in that
21:52:30 <electrohead> lmfao
21:52:40 <rust_collector> which can be a problem inside a wall, but as his house is made out of stone and mud...
21:52:56 <Ysjoelfir> vaginas can be a problem inside a wall?
21:53:00 <rust_collector> yes
21:53:02 <hsn> mold is the thing that grow on bread?
21:53:07 <Ysjoelfir> yes
21:53:09 <electrohead> and vaginas
21:53:10 <Ysjoelfir> that fluffy stuff
21:53:17 <Ysjoelfir> tastes like mushroom
21:53:18 <rust_collector> and in walls
21:53:20 <Ysjoelfir> probably because it is
21:53:50 <rust_collector> that could have something to do with it
21:54:08 <hsn> u think someone put mashroom into my wall ?
21:54:09 <hsn> :D
21:54:55 <rust_collector> it is not impossible. but... I guess you should look at that
21:55:27 <hsn> i say its just some dust
21:56:08 <rust_collector> maybe, and that makes it more worth looking at, because you can just take the dust away, and not have water in your wall?
21:56:55 <hsn> yeah .. i hve to open it from inside side
21:57:09 <hsn> inside flat
21:57:19 * electrohead pokes Halcyon
21:57:24 <hsn> and check that drain pipe
21:57:42 <rust_collector> get to the other end of the pipe, and blow into it
21:57:55 <rust_collector> ?
21:57:57 <hsn> i think i cant reach the other end
21:58:18 <hsn> i didnt check but i think its burried inside wall ..
21:58:38 <rust_collector> it has to exit somewhere?
21:59:11 <hsn> i didnt invistigate anything im too busy this week with job + father in hospital so i just tend to open all other 3 ACs and keep doors open
22:00:07 <rust_collector> ok. is the old man seriously ill? that is no fun
22:00:45 <hsn> yeah
22:00:58 <hsn> so rusty dont they make u shape
22:01:01 <hsn> in drainage pipe
22:01:18 <hsn> U shape
22:01:49 <hsn> to make water seal
22:01:50 <hsn> ?
22:02:02 <rust_collector> I do not think they do on things like that. that is more if you go into a sewer system, or somewhere you do not want anything to go back up
22:03:38 <hsn> mostly smells
22:03:39 <hsn> ?
22:03:45 <rust_collector> mostly yes
22:03:55 <Ysjoelfir> and rats
22:03:56 <Ysjoelfir> and bugs
22:04:11 <hsn> and sound
22:04:12 <hsn> ?
22:04:16 <electrohead> anyone know x86_64 assembly in here?
22:04:26 <rust_collector> and on low flow things, they make awesome places for gegionella
22:04:41 <rust_collector> with an l
22:04:56 <Ysjoelfir> indeed
22:06:30 <rust_collector> on an ac unit, I guess it is just a hose going outside somewhere
22:12:04 <electrohead> there's an AC unit above my door, that hasn't been used in a long time, because of that same issue
22:12:36 <electrohead> water got within the door's molding, and everything swelled up
22:14:43 <rust_collector> purrfection
22:19:11 <rust_collector> hmm, post says I will have brake parts tomorrow, that will be fun
22:19:34 <hsn> electrohead, whats with x86
22:19:40 <rust_collector> The rear brake rotors are for some other car, and they do not really fit.
22:19:52 <Ysjoelfir> nice!
22:19:54 <hsn> not like i know .. but just asking
22:20:15 * Ampera stumbles into the channel
22:20:29 <hsn> ampera type
22:20:33 <rust_collector> I have the rotors spaced out one 1kr coin, that fixed most of the issues
22:20:39 <Ampera> hsn, type 99
22:20:41 <hsn> type: /nick Ampera_x86
22:20:48 <Ampera> no
22:20:54 Nick: Ampera is now known as Ampera_POWER
22:20:59 <hsn> type: /nick Ampera_i386
22:21:04 <Ampera_POWER> no
22:21:04 <rust_collector> powervr! wheee
22:21:21 * Ampera_POWER smacks rust_collector with an I(C)BM
22:21:36 <rust_collector> ooh, flying trash cans
22:22:04 Nick: Ampera_POWER is now known as Ampera
22:23:13 <electrohead> https://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/2020-sackler-family-money/
22:23:17 <rust_collector> I wonder if I should get some american extension cords
22:23:23 <electrohead> holy shit, they are still denying
22:24:51 <Ampera> I'd love a POWER10 or even POWER9 machine
22:24:55 * electrohead sends rust_collector un-american cords
22:24:57 <Ampera> if they weren't completely unreasonable in price
22:26:10 <electrohead> ooo, that's sexy :D
22:26:27 <electrohead> power10, rather
22:27:05 <Ampera> POWER10 isn't even out yet
22:27:11 <Ampera> POWER9 was neat, but nobody could afford it
22:27:56 <Ampera> which is sad because it was kinda the one architecture that could sorta kinda perform similarly to some x86 chips in reality
22:29:40 * electrohead tries to save up for a powerX system
22:29:56 <electrohead> powerX as in, which ever I can get my hands on, lol
22:29:56 <Ampera> I could afford one, but it would be a lot of money for not much computer
22:30:23 <electrohead> yeah I'm seeing it's all high end systems
22:30:33 <Ampera> not really
22:30:38 <Ampera> it's all IBM systems in reality
22:30:52 <Ampera> stuff you'd get on a contract deal from them for a variety of needs
22:31:32 <Ampera> but nothing is particularly high end for the money, which is probably why nobody really buys them
22:31:53 <Ampera> especially with Zen 2, x86 is just too good right now
22:39:48 <electrohead> updates, yay
22:39:54 <rust_collector> oh crap, the fish van is here. I hope they just disappear. they are even more annoying than the ice cream van
22:40:22 <electrohead> the fish van? lol
22:40:29 <rust_collector> yeah
22:40:34 <rust_collector> it is a thing
22:40:34 <Ampera> nice
22:40:42 <Ampera> what sort of fish
22:40:45 <K> does it have a song?
22:40:55 <K> dead fish, prolly
22:40:58 <Ampera> K, no it has a pong
22:41:12 <rust_collector> well, most kinds. and no no song, just annoying goys cnocking on your door
22:41:38 <Ampera> rust_collector, you nords have some crazy inventions
22:42:14 <rust_collector> they have most common fish, fish cakes, whale
22:42:24 <rust_collector> Ampera, like what?
22:42:36 <Ampera> rust_collector, fish trucks
22:42:39 <K> fish-knockers
22:42:41 <rust_collector> I think you are thinking of japan
22:43:33 <rust_collector> they only show up every few months. but you can order, and they will come and deliver...say once a week in each area
22:44:19 <rust_collector> squid things, crab.. prawns
22:44:26 <Ampera> I wish we had that here
22:44:26 <rust_collector> other weird things
22:44:42 <Ampera> they'd have me so far up their fish they wouldn't have time to file a restraining order
22:44:50 <K> don't you have other, more eddible things to eat?
22:45:04 * Ampera smackerels K with a holy smackerel
22:45:08 <rust_collector> no, just fish and ice cream
22:45:22 <K> eew
22:45:30 <Ampera> what about fish ice cream
22:45:40 <K> u fish, i scream
22:45:40 <rust_collector> I never asked....
22:45:58 <Ampera> rust_collector, they have a special burlap sack to stick the people who ask that I suppose
22:46:21 <Ampera> we have normal food trucks here, along with a load of halal trucks, which are nice if you can trust them to be sanitary
22:46:24 <Ampera> which is occasionally true
22:46:32 <Ampera> or I should say *used* to have them
22:46:38 <rust_collector> yeah
22:46:43 <Ampera> because someone decided that bat soup was absolutely delicious instead, so now we don't
22:47:00 <rust_collector> grandma used to talk about the butter truck... that was a thing
22:47:07 <electrohead> heh, a fish truck would be nice here as well, that sounds neat to have around
22:47:39 <Ampera> excited for the nanocell I'm being sent
22:47:52 <rust_collector> hmm?
22:47:55 <Ampera> so I can finally make a phone call on my 1600 dollar phone
22:48:12 <rust_collector> a sim card thing?
22:48:16 <Ampera> no
22:48:19 <K> like your own private mobile tower?
22:48:22 <Ampera> ^
22:48:29 <rust_collector> uhm, ok
22:48:40 <Ampera> because we get fuck all phone reception here
22:48:46 <rust_collector> oh
22:49:10 <Ampera> and whatever fucking genius designed the T-Mobile firmwares decided that it was alright if you needed the cell tower to initiate VoWIFI calls
22:49:38 <Ampera> that could be me just diagnosing the problem wrong, but that's why I also can't use VoWIFI well, because it takes like 2-3 tries to make the damn connection
22:49:56 <electrohead> o.O
22:49:59 <electrohead> damn dude
22:49:59 <rust_collector> our local cell tower is glitchy, and keeps dropping out now and then. they won't fix it before the new railway station is in place...
22:52:23 <electrohead> you would think after spending that much on a phone, that everything would work flawlessly lol
22:52:37 <rust_collector> ok, I think they are done knocking on the door
22:52:47 <Ampera> the phone works fine, but we live in an area of notoriously bad anything reception
22:52:53 <Ampera> even FM radio has a bad time making it here
22:52:58 <electrohead> ew
22:53:04 <Ampera> ew?
22:53:19 <electrohead> stuck in a valley or the mountains?
22:53:24 <Ampera> no
22:53:29 <Ampera> well sort of
22:53:35 <electrohead> rust_collector: the fish people? lol
22:53:35 <Ampera> we live on a hill, but sort of half way up it
22:53:42 <Ampera> to half the area around is just solid rock
22:53:45 <rust_collector> yes, fish-man
22:53:47 <Ampera> and the rest is a load of houses next to us
22:54:34 <rust_collector> so now you will have the local phone company... that is nice
22:54:43 <Ampera> however, relative to the nearest cell tower, we also live sort of in a bit of a depression, so
22:54:52 <Ampera> rust_collector, huh?
22:55:02 <Ampera> there is no local phone company anymore
22:55:20 <Ampera> there is only coax and fiber on the street
22:55:41 <rust_collector> put your mini-tower on a flagpole, and there you have your local company. just charge a tax on the neighbors if they want to call
22:55:47 <electrohead> you have fiber locally?
22:55:57 <Ampera> yeah the entire city does
22:56:03 <Ampera> we have no twisted pair on the streets
22:56:05 <NeroTHz> a single tower does not do shit
22:56:16 <NeroTHz> you need all the agreements with other providers before it is useful
22:56:24 <electrohead> wow, I feel like I'm in the stone age, lol
22:56:31 <electrohead> no fiber around here whatsoever
22:56:39 <electrohead> and no one has plans to do so, apparently
22:56:42 <rust_collector> wood fiber?
22:56:45 <electrohead> well, last I heard, anyway
22:57:42 <Ampera> We've actually had fiber for around the past 8 years or so
22:57:51 <electrohead> lucky :p
22:58:00 <Ampera> used to be 75/75 now it's 940/880
22:58:10 <electrohead> actually, I'm going to look, maybe something changeed recently
22:58:13 * electrohead gets his hopes up
22:58:28 <Ampera> electrohead, I believe Verizon should be the local telco
22:58:55 <electrohead> yeah they are, but last I checked, no fiber service around here
22:59:07 <electrohead> err, local here in my city
23:00:11 <rust_collector> We had a guy from our old isp come, and wanted to upgrade us to fiber...which meant replacing the outlet on the wall... we had a little discussion about that, and he ended up flying out the door. that was interesting. It is not often I get that upset by people
23:00:32 <Ampera> rust_collector, what did he do
23:00:55 <Ampera> knowing the state of internet in most places if someone came buy and offered fiber I'd all but suck his cock
23:01:03 <electrohead> grr, no fios/fiber here
23:01:13 <electrohead> lmfao
23:01:20 <Ampera> electrohead, what do you have currently
23:01:23 <Ampera> presumably Comcast
23:01:27 <electrohead> yeah, comcast
23:01:37 <Ampera> does Verizon offer VDSL2 perhaps?
23:01:40 <Ampera> that still might be useful
23:01:41 <electrohead> I pay 90 dollars a month for somewhat decent speeds
23:01:47 <Ampera> it's probably ADSL on some spiderweb lines
23:02:12 <electrohead> it is, yes
23:02:17 <rust_collector> well, you do not install fiber by putting a different the outlet on the wall? so it was still old phone line.... so we had a discussion, but he kept insisting... so yes. he did learn to fly that day
23:02:38 <Ampera> rust_collector, oh so he was trying to flog FttN as FttP?
23:02:55 <Ampera> yeah if he did that at my house (had I not already had fiber), he would be executed on the spot
23:02:57 <rust_collector> I have no idea, but it was not what he said it was anyway
23:03:12 <electrohead> brb, rebooting and all of that fun stuff
23:03:40 <rust_collector> I still have his punchdown tool thing. I called and told him, but he said I could keep it
23:03:53 <Ampera> I'm tempted to reboot and try the new Kernel version, but it's probably not a great idea during work hours
23:05:14 <Ampera> eh, what's life without throwing ISP techs to the wind
23:05:17 * Ampera updates
23:05:38 <Ampera> rust_collector, speaking of fish, did you see my fish collection?
23:05:46 <rust_collector> nope
23:06:02 <Ampera> rust_collector, https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/449968711789445127/747540448440090664/20200824_153841.jpg
23:06:39 <rust_collector> that should do for at least a week
23:06:44 <Ampera> haha
23:06:58 <Ampera> I bought 18, gave 3 to my dad
23:07:03 <Ampera> so my plan is to eat one every other day
23:07:10 <Ampera> and buy a case of it every month
23:07:37 <rust_collector> yeah, make sure you want it before you open a tin, because it is not really great on the second day
23:07:48 <Ampera> oh I could eat the whole case right now
23:07:53 <Ampera> all of those cans
23:07:57 <Ampera> wanting it isn't the problem
23:08:04 <Ampera> not eating the entire case is the problem
23:08:35 <rust_collector> Have you had the mackerell in tomato sauce? I almost have to recommend trying that
23:08:49 <Ampera> from polar or in general?
23:08:58 <Ampera> I've had herring in tomato sauce, not from polar
23:09:05 <rust_collector> just in general. I have never had polar anything
23:09:17 <Ampera> I don't think I've ever had mackerel
23:09:19 * Ampera is rebooting
23:09:25 <rust_collector> well, herring is not the same.
23:11:10 <Ampera> wooo, Windows doesn't crash on Kernel 5.8.3
23:11:24 <rust_collector> NOOOOO!!!!
23:11:39 * Ampera whackerels rust_collector with a smoly hackerel
23:12:44 <rust_collector> this is what I eat: https://www.norwegianfoodstore.com/product/makrell-i-tomat/
23:12:56 <rust_collector> but it does not cost $30 here
23:13:06 <Ampera> yeah I hoped that much
23:13:23 <Ampera> I got that entire case of polar herring for 30 bucks
23:13:29 <rust_collector> right
23:14:05 <rust_collector> I should see what they cost in the store. I think it is $2 or maybe $3
23:14:27 <Ampera> that's still really expensive
23:14:31 <Ampera> but I suppose norway is in general
23:14:34 <rust_collector> it is
23:14:40 <rust_collector> sort of
23:14:54 <Ampera> those polar herrings came to about 1.60/can and even that's a bit much as Walmart sold them slightly cheaper
23:14:59 <Ampera> just not in stock, nor in bulk
23:15:05 <rust_collector> but, I don't really know. just guessing.
23:15:38 <rust_collector> well, you got herring in brine, that will be cheaper no matter what. but yeah.
23:16:12 <Ampera> it's smoked herring
23:16:27 <rust_collector> heh, yes
23:16:31 <rust_collector> but still
23:16:47 <Ampera> and also less fish
23:16:50 <Ampera> as those are 100g cans
23:16:52 <Ampera> so whatever
23:16:53 <Ampera> anwerguiaweghoaiwe
23:17:26 <rust_collector> hmm, ok, I looked it up, and they are 1.85 for a 170 gram box
23:17:46 <Ampera> yeah that's cheaper than what I paid
23:18:38 <rust_collector> it is also 6 timezones away. we can work the price up a bit
23:32:29 <rust_collector> hmm, edge for linux... ok...
23:32:53 <Ampera> rust_collector, if it's anything like Teams it's there as a token and they don't actually maintain it
23:33:43 <rust_collector> it is not released yet anyway.
23:34:46 <rust_collector> I think I will stay with my links2 a bit longer
23:35:10 <Ampera> haha
23:37:44 <rust_collector> i used to try loads of browsers, but they seem to be less annoying now, so I just use the one installed
23:38:09 <rust_collector> uuh, this one has firefox, and it has been ok
23:39:04 <rust_collector> and uzbl is not in the repos any more. that is annoying, because it had the best non-error messages
23:39:19 <NeroTHz> I love firefox
23:39:21 <Ampera> I use chromium
23:39:22 <NeroTHz> firefox is best fox
23:39:35 <Ampera> firefox will get my care when it can do hardware accelerated video decode on X
23:40:23 <Ampera> which should have been something done long long ago for an open source browser like Firefox, but for some reason still isn't a thing
23:41:45 <NeroTHz> I don´t use linux with a GUI for any day-to-day use so I have never noticed it, nor does it matter to me, but I can see how that is an issue for people who use linux for their every-day compute
23:42:15 <Ampera> It's not an issue for me either, but otherwise I have no real reason to switch
23:42:17 <Ampera> as chromium works fine
23:42:35 <Ampera> it's just that chromium's X implementation of hardware accelerated video decode sucked ass for ages
23:42:39 <Ampera> I think it's gotten better as of recent
23:42:56 <Ampera> which, honestly would have been more helpful ages ago when I had a furnace of a Surface Pro 3
23:43:41 <rust_collector> I do not have an issue with this one, so it is what I use. I think I have chromium installed too, but... firefox is set as default, lol
23:44:17 <Ampera> Firefox is honestly more interesting on mobile as it has plugin support
23:44:19 <Ampera> so I can use adblock
23:44:30 <rust_collector> oh right.
23:44:43 <Ampera> I should probably install that on my new phone actually
23:44:52 <NeroTHz> wait other browsers don´t have plugins on mobile?
23:44:57 <Ampera> Chrome doesn't
23:45:07 <Ampera> and that's pretty much the only two browsers on mobile really
23:45:10 <NeroTHz> so no adblock on mobile?
23:45:15 <NeroTHz> on chrome*
23:45:21 <Ampera> No, not that I'm aware of
23:45:28 <NeroTHz> oh wow
23:45:32 <NeroTHz> how do people tolerate that
23:46:04 <Ampera> because people usually don't even touch browsers on phones
23:46:06 <rust_collector> Well, in my case, I just do not browse much on the phone. that works pretty well
23:46:25 <Ampera> they use all sorts of apps which tend to have less dumb ads, or subscription services to remove said ads
23:46:36 <NeroTHz> mobile is strange
23:46:39 <NeroTHz> I don´t get mobile
23:46:42 <NeroTHz> I don´t like mobile
23:46:46 <NeroTHz> I´ll stick to desktop
23:46:59 <Ampera> it's a computer in my pocket and I've gotten it to begrudgingly do things I want it to do
23:47:13 <Ampera> like do emulators
23:47:25 <Ampera> It's also a very very nice camera in a very very small form factor
23:47:51 <rust_collector> I pretty much use the browser in the phone to look up peoples address, and then go to a map, and that is pretty much it
23:48:26 <Ampera> I've not had my phone long enough (and in enough conditions) to really explore how I'd use it in practice
23:49:13 <Ampera> however my main uses at the moment are for news, emulation, occasional YouTube as it has an awesome screen, my primary camera, as a cellular modem for other devices, for chatting away from my desktop (IRC/Discord/Teams)
23:49:33 <Ampera> oh and it's got Samsung Pay so it can now do contactless even on terminals that don't support radiocards
23:49:36 <rust_collector> Maybe I am just getting old, but even after a couple years in the same area, I come across a "new" road almost every week
23:49:57 <NeroTHz> I use my phone for whatsapp
23:50:04 <NeroTHz> I make calls, now and then
23:50:13 <NeroTHz> might, sometimes, take a picture of whatever I´m doing
23:50:16 <NeroTHz> that´s about it
23:51:30 <Ampera> ah, I do use my phone as a phone as well
23:51:38 <Ampera> I call my grandfather with it every day
23:52:08 <Ampera> I also in theory use my phone for music, but since I've been at home since march, I've not really had to
23:52:56 <NeroTHz> oh yeah, I do do that too
23:53:24 <NeroTHz> though now, from my understanding, it just acts as a token for spotify since I believe my car runs spotify itself, instead of the phone and then streaming it over bluetooth
