11:07:36 <Nothing\> it smells like a hospital
11:07:36 <Nothing\> beads of congealed phenol and plastic covering it
11:07:36 <Nothing\> anyways i found something neat out yesterday about rreactance, i didn't realize that in the formula, 2(pi)fc, the 2pi refers to radians, ie a full cycle, so i got thinking, well why not try to do it in degrees instead of radians, but i just couldn't figure it out
11:07:36 <Nothing\> obviously you'd have to use units other than farads or hertz though to coincide with the change in units, but i dunno what
11:07:36 <Nothing\> or then there's the whole issue of using gradients
11:07:36 <DHess_US> 2 Pi radians = 360 degrees
11:07:36 <Nothing\> yup, but the math doesn't work if you use degrees
11:07:36 <Nothing\> for instance say you wanna work out the reactance of 10uf at 60hz
11:07:36 <Nothing\> 6.28*.0001*60 gives 26.67ohms, right
11:07:36 <Nothing\> but if you use degrees you get...
11:07:36 <Nothing\> 0.463
11:07:36 <Nothing\> very different answers
11:07:36 <Nothing\> so it's clear i need to use units other than farads and/or hertz to comensate for using degrees instead of radians
11:07:36 <Nothing\> if i wast to do it that way, which tbh i'm just working this out for the sake of fun, i'm sure there's no real world use for this
11:07:36 <Nothing\> i just loved that realization i had that the 2pi refered to radians, it helped make the whole connection between AC and angular moment click cuz i've been trying to figure out how to integrate the two
11:07:36 <T3sl4> if you're using 360 degrees for a full circle instead of 2pi radians, then you just substitute that, and f is in degrees/sec instead of cycles/sec
11:07:36 <T3sl4> well, it'd be 2pi --> 1/360
11:07:36 <T3sl4> wellllllll
11:07:36 <T3sl4> pi/180
11:07:36 <Nothing\> ah yeah that makes sense
11:07:36 <Nothing\> i understand radians but i've always been a degrees guy, but i'm trying to get used to radians since they really do make more sense
11:07:36 <Nothing\> and i only just recently figured out what gradients are while i was playing with my calculator
11:07:36 <Nothing\> heh i actually learned a lot of math just from playing with calcators
11:07:36 <Nothing\> oh okay T3sl4 i think i figured out the degrees thing from before
11:07:36 <Nothing\> so you'd have something like 360(60/360)*capacitance right?
11:07:36 <Nothing\> only one way to find out
11:07:36 <coppice> 2 pi == 1 pie
11:07:36 <Nothing\> lol i see what you did there
11:07:36 <Nothing\> i've never been a big fan of pies, or deserts or pastries like that
11:07:36 <Nothing\> although i can gorge on candy to an inhuman extent

11:07:36 <Nothing\> Ampera: sorta, yeah
11:07:36 <Nothing\> heh my neighbour just put a 21in crt on the curb, heavy bastard even just for 21in
11:07:37 <Nothing\> seems to have an integrated dvd player but that shloudnt' add much weight
11:07:37 <Nothing\> i'm glad to finally have a CRT to tear down now
11:07:37 <Nothing\> actually i think i need to lie down
11:07:37 <Nothing\> i'll have to catch you later, Ampera
11:07:37 <Nothing\> take care, man <3

11:07:37 <DHess_US> I should fix my 21in CRT. it's 1600x1200
11:07:37 <steve30> mmm, CRT :p
