03:46:09 <Avatar> !item jingasa of the fortunate soldier
03:46:09 <diebot> Avatar, JINGASA OF THE FORTUNATE SOLDIER [strong divination] CL:15 head 5000gp, 3lb
03:46:10 <diebot> This conical iron jingasa, or war hat, grants the wearer a +1 luck bonus to AC. Once per day when struck by a critical hit or sneak attack, the wearer can spend an immediate action to negate the critical hit or sneak attack (similar to the fortification armor special ability, but without requiring a roll). The damage is instead rolled normally.

03:46:18 <Avatar> I never should have let those jokers talk me out of buying that
03:46:22 <Mekkis> because the cheapest See Invisibility effect is the Mask of the Mantis
03:46:25 <Mekkis> why?
03:46:30 <Avatar> why what
03:46:41 <Steven> that two hands a weapon.
03:47:02 <Mekkis> I'd rather the Dream Journal.
03:47:13 <andrey> it's not a core item
03:47:14 <Mekkis> doesn't make you look like an idiot.
03:47:24 <Avatar> you don't need to look like an idiot apparently
03:47:26 <andrey> mantis makes you look badass
03:47:28 <Avatar> you can just reflavour any item you like !
03:47:39 <Mekkis> not around Stephen or Andrei
03:47:49 <Avatar> forums say otherwise
03:48:01 <Mekkis> regardless.
03:48:27 <Mekkis> All the broken items in the world doesn't save you if you waste a turn slumbering a vermin.
03:48:49 <Avatar> actually it is a PFS FAQ
03:49:05 <Avatar> oh wait I lie
03:49:09 <Avatar> it actually says you can't
03:49:22 <Avatar> A player may not re-skin items to be something for which there are no specific rules, and any item a character uses for which there are no stats is considered an improvised weapon (see page 144 of the Pathfinder RPG Core Rulebook).
03:49:40 <Mekkis> have you ever seen a colossal tree in a PFS scenario?
03:49:44 <Mekkis> what about a Huge one?
03:50:04 <Mekkis> actually.... What size tree is created by the Feather Token?
03:50:36 <Mekkis> andrey, I'm not saying the mask of the mantis doesn't make you look badass.
03:50:55 <Avatar> turns out I could've come to conquest today
03:51:04 <Mekkis> But both the Jingasa and the Mask Might Not look like what your character would look like wearing

03:53:10 <Avatar> are there rules to cover it
03:53:21 <Mekkis> yes. But you shouldn't
03:53:23 <Avatar> I've played part 2, but on a different character who isn't 3rd level yet

05:18:04 <diebot> Mekkis, RING OF TRANSPOSITION [moderate conjuration] CL:10 ring 10800gp, 0lb
05:18:05 <diebot> On command, the wearer of this ring can touch it to another ring, magical or mundane, and bind it to the ring of transposition. Once per day, the wearer of the ring of transposition can speak a command word to exchange places with the creature wearing the bonded ring, which must be within 800 feet, as though using a dimension door spell against a
05:18:05 <diebot> willing target. In the process, the ring of transposition trades places with the ring on the other creature's hand, and the bond between the rings is broken. The bonding property of the ring of transposition can be used as often as desired, breaking any existing bond each time it is used. An existing bond can be broken by a successful dispel check

06:03:34 <Avatar> that sounds like the beginning of a story rather than the end
06:34:41 <Damalon01> sorry guys i forgot i had this on. I played 'the many fortunes of grandmaster torch' and Bonekeep part 2
06:34:54 <Avatar> mate as if you would forget you had this on
06:35:05 <Avatar> as if you would forget about us
06:35:52 <Damalon01> lol i was distracted by ESO :P
06:43:12 <Damalon01> what did you guys play?
06:43:25 <Avatar> destiny 1 and port godless
06:43:41 <Avatar> I've played destiny 2 but couldn't play destiny 3 because I'm out of tier
06:43:50 <Avatar> making it a 3-7 seems like a mistake
06:43:59 <Avatar> half the players can't play it
06:44:15 <Avatar> part 3 that is, the others are 1-5
06:44:38 <Mekkis> Weapons in the Rift, Port Godless, Many Fortunes of GM Torch, and Haunting of Hinoji
06:44:56 <Avatar> hadn't you played haunting of hinojai
06:45:22 <Mekkis> Haunting was a difficult scenario
06:45:32 <Mekkis> nope
06:45:52 <Mekkis> that first encounter was deadly
06:48:33 <Mekkis> I suppose the party makeup was really suboptima
08:22:52 <Mekkis> yay. BSoD
08:29:45 <Damalon01> so heres my problem with Bonekeep. You get paid quite well, assuming you complete it. But the negative boon has no written cure. Mekkis theorised a Wish spell. a Wish spell would easily cost most if not all of the gold you get from the scenario, thus negating yet further the promise of great rewards made by the scenario.
08:30:38 <Mekkis> Damalon01, I agree that it is an issue.
08:30:56 <Mekkis> I don't like it.
08:32:07 <Damalon01> Osrim the Fish and I both gave it 1 star reviews.
08:34:37 <Mekkis> if you do want it removed, you can play part three with me...
08:35:12 <Damalon01> is part three out? is there a cure boon on its chronicle?
08:35:25 <Mekkis> nope, and probably not.
08:35:56 <Mekkis> But, I'll be giving out wishes there.
08:36:16 <Damalon01> then no thank you. the only way i can think of that part 3 would be worthwhile is if part 3 removed the negative boons from the previous scenarios.
08:36:25 <Damalon01> are you sure wishes will do it?
08:36:54 <Mekkis> depends on the GM, but I'm pretty sure that if Stephen or Andrey GMs, they'll allow it.
08:37:14 <Damalon01> but wouldnt Mike Brock have the final say so?
08:37:21 <Damalon01> couldnt he vetto them?
08:37:23 <Mekkis> yes and no.
08:37:55 <Damalon01> i think he could its wether or not he would
08:37:57 <Mekkis> if it happens at a table, it's happened. There is a slight chance of Brock vetoing it, but I'd call it unlikely
08:38:32 <Mekkis> That being said, he doesn't have much of a reputation for overriding table rulings
08:38:51 <Damalon01> nah itd cause too much strife.
08:40:43 <Damalon01> see i think that since the neg boon has no written cure, a GM could easily rule that there is none.
08:40:55 <Damalon01> that not even a wish can cure it
08:41:15 <Mekkis> I can see that. I also can't see Andrei or Stephen ruling like that
08:41:19 <Damalon01> cant sorry
08:41:50 <Damalon01> true, any fair GM would see reason. But Bonekeep wasnt written in the spirit of fairness was it?
08:42:02 <Mekkis> I wish I knew
08:47:17 <Mekkis> as far as I can tell, it wasn't
08:48:13 <Mekkis> I don't know what Paizo is doing these days, to be honest
08:49:34 <Mekkis> looks like my winNT3.1 install is getting less and less stable, as I try to get more of it to work
08:58:20 <Avatar> I am a bit sore about that 1-5 tonight idea you had mekkis
08:58:24 <Avatar> that would have worked out fantastically

19:27:09 <diebot> Mekkis, UNBREAKABLE HEART enchantment (compulsion[mind-affecting]) bard 1, cleric/oracle 1, paladin 1, ranger 1, witch 1 1 standard action Range: close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels) Comp: V, S Duration: 1 round/level Save: Will negates (harmless) SR:yes (harmless)Source: Inner Sea World Guide
19:27:09 <diebot> The target creature gains a +4 morale bonus on saving throws against mind-affecting effects that rely on negative emotions (such as crushing despair, rage, or fear effects) or that would force him to harm an ally (such as confusion). If the target is already under such an effect when receiving this spell, that effect is suppressed for the duration
19:27:09 <diebot> of this spell. It does not affect mind-affecting effects based on positive emotions (such as good hope or the inspire courage bard ability). A creature can still be charmed or otherwise magically controlled while under this spell's effects, but if such a creature ever receives a new saving throw against that effect as a result of being ordered to
19:27:09 <diebot> attempt to harm or otherwise oppose a true ally, he can roll that saving throw twice and take the better result as his actual roll. Calm emotions counters and dispels unbreakable heart.

19:49:00 <dicebot> Steven, random: go-to-pfs
19:49:10 <Steven> looks like im going to play some pfs in bout half an hour.
19:50:09 <Yiroep> What scenario?
19:50:22 <Steven> iunno
19:50:26 <Steven> i'm just gonna show up
19:50:30 <Yiroep> Ah.
19:50:37 <Steven> hopefully they do a high game so i can play my Master Chymist
19:50:55 <Yiroep> I'm so close to 4 stars but I'm not GMing very much, lol.
19:51:01 <Yiroep> I keep play, play, play.
19:51:13 <Steven> I am qualified for 5 star now
19:51:19 <Steven> i just dont care bout it.
19:51:27 <Yiroep> I don't feel like I should be 4 stars. I feel like I GM hardly at all. But apparently I have 89 tables worth of credit, lol.
19:51:44 <Steven> I'll probably get walter to thumbs up it before we go to paizocon.
19:51:59 <Yiroep> I'd want the star if I qualified for it...for replay puroses.
19:52:01 <Yiroep> purposes*
19:52:07 <Yiroep> I'm using my first one this weekend.
19:52:14 <Steven> Yeah, i found that from 3 to 4 star went real fast.
19:52:23 <Steven> and 4 to 5 was lightning fast.
19:52:32 <Yiroep> I felt 2 took forever.
19:52:36 <Yiroep> The rest were very quick.
19:53:11 <Yiroep> I actually didn't realize I was 3 stars until it just showed up on my account.
19:53:16 <Yiroep> I was like "Oh, cool."
19:55:11 <Steven> i dont go over to moscow and play very often
19:55:24 <Steven> but when i do I usually play some outrageous character.
19:55:34 <Steven> Last time was my sassy rage prophet
19:55:59 <Steven> the time before that it was my Thassilonian necromancer
19:56:18 <Yiroep> Oh, I was so on Saturday. My wizard finally groups with a ranged martial character. He finally got to use named bullet!
19:56:18 <Steven> and this time Master Chymist
19:56:28 <Steven> OH YEAH!
19:56:29 <Yiroep> It was on the pregen gunslinger, which was kind of disappointing, but it still was awesome.
19:56:33 <Steven> fuckin love that spell.
19:56:33 <Yiroep> He prepped it twice.
19:56:47 <Yiroep> I've been waiting for 3 levels to play with one, LOL.
19:57:00 <Yiroep> It's like "Nope we're all melee."
19:57:03 <Yiroep> And I'm like "Dammit."
19:57:50 <Yiroep> Was fun to at least make the pregen gunslinger do 54 damage.
19:58:02 <Yiroep> Even if it would be better with a real character.
19:59:21 <Yiroep> I really like the support/buff role, though.
19:59:30 <Steven> when i get to level 15 with my inquisitor gunslinger i can do the namedbullet thing
19:59:40 <Yiroep> I like being like "Muahahaha, I made the efficiency of our team 200% better! Hahaha!"
20:00:00 <Yiroep> Which is why I play so many oracles and bards.
20:00:06 <Steven> buffers are the most under appreciated class up at my store,
20:00:46 <Steven> everyone wants to be a big fat DPS Murder Hobo
20:01:40 <Yiroep> Dude, my home game Juju oracle is a beast. She doesn't do jack crap in combat, but man...She gives everyone +5 weapons and armor, has undead everywhere, everyone has freedom of movement and spell immunities going on, ant haul for dispel bait, magic circles everywhere....
20:01:49 <Yiroep> Impossible to even touch our melee character with her around.
20:02:53 <Yiroep> She just got level 8 spells. I decided on greater spell immunity, lol.
20:03:08 <Yiroep> Confusion and insanity have met their end on our party.
20:03:23 <Steven> well just take all the fun out of the game.
20:03:30 <Yiroep> LOL!
20:03:46 <Yiroep> There was a battle where she got completely owned, though.
20:04:20 <Yiroep> Agile witch commanded undead on both her undead in the surprise round. She had to get rid of them with some heals, then the witch came up to her and slumber hexed + coup de graced in the same round.
20:04:42 <Yiroep> Was pretty brutal, but was awesome.
20:04:58 <Steven> i got a 'boon' where when i roll for confusion i add 5 to the result on my Shadow Dancer
20:05:15 <Yiroep> I got that on one of my characters.
20:05:19 <Steven> and people were like hey we can get rid of that RIGHT NOW
20:05:21 <Yiroep> Can't remember where I got it, had to check.
20:05:26 <Steven> and im like FUCK NO ITS STAYING!
20:05:35 <Yiroep> have*
20:06:12 <Yiroep> Oh yeah forgot I do life bubble too...oh wait, no I just let the druid do it.
20:06:17 <Yiroep> Have to make him do something, right?
20:06:25 <Yiroep> Other than shape change 24/7.
20:07:18 <Yiroep> Oh yeah, I go completely nutso in our home game just because I know the GM will (and does) ramp things up for us. Makes it more fun.
20:07:31 <Yiroep> Fought so many agile things....
20:09:45 <Yiroep> We got messed up by that pale stranger, though. Those things are sick.
20:10:48 <Steven> back
20:11:03 <s_gmusic> lvl 5 Slayer (playtest) then go Living Monolith for the next 7 levels. Y/N?
20:11:04 <Yiroep> Oh, he even ramped that up I think. I think he made it incorporeal, lol.
20:11:42 <Steven> you can do whatcha want gmusic
20:11:47 <Steven> but it sounds fine.
20:12:07 <Steven> considering we know nothing about the character
20:12:23 <Steven> The creature i really really like.
20:12:26 <Yiroep> My favorite combo someone said was Slayer 6/HW 3/Slayer X.
20:12:35 <Yiroep> 6 is a perfect level to dip out of slayer.
20:12:46 <Yiroep> (Horizon Walker, btw)
20:12:55 <Steven> A roper
20:12:58 <Yiroep> LOL
20:13:03 <Yiroep> Oh, that damn thing.
20:13:41 <Steven> we made a mythic version
20:13:47 <Steven> Its fucking disgusting.
20:14:05 <Steven> makes the regular roper look like a goblin.
20:14:15 <Steven> anyways, goin to moscow, peace guys!
20:21:10 <s_gmusic> ideally, this character would qualify for Living Monolith as soon as possible. pre-reqs are BAB +5, Know (Religion) 2 ranks, Know (History) and (Engineering) 4 ranks, Endurance feat, Iron Will feat, and the Sphinx and Ancient Osiriani Languages.
20:21:49 <s_gmusic> Slayer's a full BAB class, and I can hit the other pre-reqs up to level 5, meaning I can take Living Monolith starting at 6th level.
20:23:54 <Yiroep> Well, what do you hope to get from Slayer?
20:26:43 <s_gmusic> 5 slayer has good BAB, Fort, Ref, sneak attack, favored target +2, and 2 talents drawn from its list or the rogues
20:27:17 <s_gmusic> the other option was going to be 5 Fighter before going living monolith
20:27:21 <Yiroep> K. I'll list an alternate I was thinking of. 2 slayer/3 weapon master fighter.
20:27:34 <s_gmusic> oh?
20:29:03 <Yiroep> You don't lose on any save, gain 2 on fort, get to have +1 to attack in a weapon group, which is arguably better than increasing favored target to +2, and get to have 2 more feats.
20:29:10 <Yiroep> You do lose a talent and sneak attack, though.
20:30:29 <s_gmusic> hm...
20:32:11 <s_gmusic> sneak attack isn't much of a thing, because I'd only worry about it if flanking, and talents don't really appeal to me
20:32:30 <Yiroep> In exchange for those 2 things, you get a lot of stuff from fighter.
20:32:31 <Yiroep> Also...
20:32:41 <Yiroep> Having weapon training allows you to get Gloves of Dueling.
20:34:21 <s_gmusic> the appeal of using Slayer levels is that it's a full BAB class with 2 "Good" Save progressions and many skills. the other thing on it I'd use would be the Favored Target ability for a couple more points of damage
20:34:51 <Yiroep> Right, but weapon master also gives you damage. And 3 levels is great for a weapon master.
20:35:34 <Yiroep> And with just slayer, you get +4 fort, +4 reflex, and +1 will. With fighter, you get +6 fort, +4 reflex, and +1 will.
20:35:40 <Yiroep> I mean with both slayer and fighter.
20:36:32 <s_gmusic> yeah, got that. low will is gonna hurt, but that's true for most characters.
20:36:51 <Yiroep> I mean, if you're talking fighter and slayer, you've already committed to it. :p
20:37:05 <s_gmusic> if I could be arsed to clean off my desk, I'd get my other computer out and start playing in herolab
20:37:08 <s_gmusic> :\
20:37:09 <Yiroep> It's not gonna be higher than +1 for 5 levels of either of those. :p
20:38:57 <s_gmusic> true. kinda glad for the Iron Will pre-req feat on that.
20:39:16 <s_gmusic> also, still haven't chosen a race yet for this build
20:40:10 <Yiroep> Hrm, I wonder how 1 wizard/1 fighter/4 eldritch knight/X living monolith would be.
20:40:37 <s_gmusic> Thinking of two-handing a katana, but take the feat for it, too, so I have a slight option in attacking.
20:40:49 <s_gmusic> why split like that?
20:41:11 <Yiroep> Well, with the People of the Sands, living monolith now has a caster option.
20:42:09 <s_gmusic> yup, but I was mainly stumped by the Eldritch Knight levels.
20:42:15 <Yiroep> To get BAB faster.
20:43:39 <s_gmusic> 3 fighter/3 magus/x monolith instead?
20:43:58 <Yiroep> Actually 2 wizard/1 fighter/ 3 EK/ X monolith is better than what I said.
20:44:10 <Yiroep> Hrm, magus could be cool, too.
20:44:21 <Yiroep> I would probably go 4 magus, though.
20:44:24 <s_gmusic> magus isn't full BAB, though
20:44:55 <s_gmusic> well, yeah
20:45:03 <s_gmusic> magus 4/ftr 2 would work
20:45:19 <Yiroep> I don't want another magus, though. :p
20:45:26 <s_gmusic> ah
20:45:29 <Yiroep> I like mine but damage isn't my style in Pathfinder.
20:45:53 <s_gmusic> guessing you'd use tiefling or aasimar for the EK spellcasting pre-req?
20:45:56 <Yiroep> I like the support/healer/buff role the most, followed by the battlefield controller role.
20:45:59 <Yiroep> Yeah, I'd have to.
20:47:09 <Yiroep> I love having people that deal damage in my party, though. :p
20:48:01 <Yiroep> I have thought about a gunslinger/oracle that gets as many rerolls as possible. I think that would be fun and funny to play.
20:49:22 <Yiroep> Fortune's Friend was my favorite 3.5 prestige class that I never got to play.
20:49:29 <s_gmusic> if I'm looking at this all right, then the 1w/1f/3ek/xmonolith build would have spellcasting equivilent to a 10th lvl wizard. EK puts you behind one level before its bumps kick in, then Monolith would put you behind a second level
20:50:07 <Yiroep> 9th level wizard at 12.
20:50:23 <Yiroep> Losses: Fighter 1/EK 1/Monolith 1.
20:50:32 <s_gmusic> ah, forgot about the fighter dip
20:50:43 <Yiroep> After your first monolith level, you wouldn't have to lose a single spellcaster level ever again.
20:50:54 <Yiroep> Cause even if you go super high, you can continue EK.
20:51:37 <s_gmusic> trying to clear off my table... keep finding more things. :|
20:53:24 <Yiroep> +9 BAB and 5th level spells at level 12.
20:53:26 <Yiroep> Not so shabby.
20:55:24 <Yiroep> I had a guy who played a dwarf wizard, though, and just used the Transformation spell when he wanted to melee.
20:55:27 <Yiroep> He was quite effective.
20:56:43 <s_gmusic> just picked up a large mass of WoW TCG and MTG cards off my table and dropped them into a box. in doing so, I found some pathfinder minis. :|
20:58:58 <s_gmusic> i need a bigger box. >.>
21:00:56 <s_gmusic> starting to wonder if trading cards begin to breed if left alone for too long. there shouldn't be this many. :\

22:25:34 <diebot> Your eyes burn like hot coals, allowing you to set objects or foes alight with a glance. As a standard action as long as this spell's effects persist, you may direct your burning gaze against a single creature or object within 30 feet of your location. Targeted creatures must succeed at a Fortitude save or take 1d6 points of fire damage. Unattended
22:25:34 <diebot> objects do not get a save. Creatures damaged by the spell must make a Reflex save or catch fire. Each round, burning creatures may attempt a Reflex save to quench the flames; failure results in another 1d6 points of fire damage. Flammable items worn by a creature must also save or take the same damage as the creature. If a creature or object is
22:25:34 <diebot> already on fire, it suffers no additional effects from burning gaze. Note that this spell does not grant an actual gaze attack- foes and allies are not in danger of catching on fire simply by meeting your gaze.
22:25:52 <andrey> so, rule-bending question: is it compatible with reach spell?
22:26:17 <andrey> yes the range say touch, buy maybe you could still increase the range of the gaze somehow?

22:52:26 <andrey> so, no way at all to make it go farther?
23:05:36 <s_gmusic> there may be a way, but I'm not sure
