00:03:40 <Ampera> how are you doing Ysjoelfirend?
00:06:04 <Ysjoelfir> pretty awesome, enjoying my vacation while playing video games with the misses

00:09:56 <Ampera> nice
00:10:02 <Ampera> have you use the minecraft server recently?
00:10:05 <Ampera> just out of curiosity
00:10:27 <Ysjoelfir> The misses is using it right now, and I did as well yesterevening
00:10:36 <Ampera> is it any faster?
00:11:42 <Ysjoelfir> Yes, definitely. it is a lot faster and it didn't crash :P
00:11:52 <Ysjoelfir> also I think you enhanced my beloved viewing distance?
00:11:57 <Ampera> I did not
00:12:11 <Ampera> and I also didn't reduce it from when it was on electroguy's server
00:12:18 <Ampera> it just probably loads faster now
00:12:32 <Ampera> you can thank me kicking FreeBSD to the curb for this
00:12:45 <Ampera> I literally murdered my best friend for you :<
00:14:26 <Ysjoelfir> I thank you. you are still allowed to enhance it than, now that it runs even faster it probably has some capacity to spare ;P
00:14:43 <Ysjoelfir> but out of curiosity, what was wrong with freebsd?
00:15:05 <Ampera> In terms of why it ran slower on FreeBSD, OpenJDK is slower on FreeBSD.
00:15:13 <Ysjoelfir> ah
00:15:32 <Ampera> In general, while there are a lot of things I like about it, the things I didn't were enough for me to switch to Debian

00:24:14 <Ysjoelfir> I see. that sounds like a hard thing to do if you are used to and like the one thing

00:28:43 <Ysjoelfir> electrohead, why did you delete the cool EEVBot time feature?
00:29:02 <steve30> So, next week, in parts of Manchester, some libraries are holding "Drag Queen Story Time" for children. Apparently the far right, conspiracy theorists, 'fascists', and 'won't somebody /PLEASE/ think of the children' types will be there protesting.
00:29:28 <steve30> And transgender activists, antifa, etc etc will be there counter protesting.
00:29:30 <electrohead> Ysjoelfir: it's there
00:29:33 <electrohead> !help
00:29:33 <EEVBot> I've posted a list of my commands at https://clbin.com/pX6jn - You can see more info about any of these commands by doing .help <command> (e.g. .help time)
00:29:47 <steve30> I'd love to go along with my popcorn but unfortunately its too far to travel.
00:29:54 <electrohead> look at the commands under the clock category

00:30:34 <EEVBot> electrohead: What timezone do you want to use? Try one from https://sopel.chat/tz
00:30:47 <Ysjoelfir> ah. you have to redo it
00:30:50 <electrohead> yeah
00:30:55 <Ysjoelfir> eg, not you as a person, but everyone
00:30:57 <electrohead> this version is like, 10 times better
00:31:06 <Ysjoelfir> and one has to use.... !
00:31:54 <electrohead> well it's been polished up over time
00:32:10 <electrohead> from a programming perspective, after looking at the code - yeah, *way* better
00:32:12 <electrohead> lol
00:32:18 <Ysjoelfir> But that means things change! People don't like changes! XD

01:12:46 <Ysjoelfir> Ampera, your server might explode now, the misses is about to replace roughly a quarter million blocks :D
01:13:07 <Ysjoelfir> ok, except from being a bit iffy reloading the chunkt, it did fine
01:13:24 <Ampera> quarter million isn't much
01:13:43 <Ampera> you can probably crash the server using worldedit, but it'd take a few billion
01:13:45 <Ysjoelfir> I killed electrohead 's server that way IIRC

02:31:35 <watcher> Kuschelpony, good morning
02:34:44 <LordGeir> Ysjoelfir: I used a blowtorch to get the wheel off the axel, but when I had put in an inner tube and got everything back together; The last thing was to secure the rim (with a bolt and washer) to the axel
02:35:20 <LordGeir> The bolt snapped off well in there, and I even bought specialized high-end drill bits to drill it out and tap; No luck...
02:35:42 <LordGeir> The hardening was so intense that it wouldn't scratch it :(
02:35:59 <LordGeir> Hi Kuschelpony
02:36:06 <Kuschelpony> Hallo!
02:48:39 <rust_collector> morningscz

02:55:33 <rust_collector> no no, that is because you have time. I do not

03:24:12 <LordGeir> Anyone here know where I can get my hands on an actual Windows XP Professional ISO (or even better; The installation files for Norwegian Service Pack 3)?
03:25:15 <LordGeir> My only copy (original XP cd) is SP2, and I can't find a working version of SP3 for Norwegian OS...
03:26:09 <rust_collector> uuuh, I have xp pro on a cd, but.. is it sp3? lol
03:27:04 <rust_collector> I know it is somewhere, in a white cover. I will have a look
03:27:18 <Ampera> Norwegian SP3 seems to me like it should be something still available on a microsoft website somewhere
03:27:35 <Ampera> then again, Microsoft may be the worst ever when it comes to properly archiving and distributing their old dependencies and updates.
03:27:37 <rust_collector> but, try to use it a bit, before you ruin it with sp3
03:27:41 <Ampera> lol
03:28:09 <Ampera> I remember the dark ages of XP, where getting a system even from SP3 up to date would be a whole day process, and be agonizing.
03:28:30 <Ampera> as you bring it through every version of windows update, have to install the update for the updater off the IE-only microsoft update catalog
03:28:35 <Ampera> ohhhh goooood
03:28:47 <Ampera> just thinking about it makes me want to commit suicide
03:29:07 <rust_collector> lucky you!
03:32:54 <LordGeir> I have scoured the entire M$ website, both the download section and the catalog section
03:33:28 <LordGeir> I find the EN version, but there is no NO version, and all sites that link to the NO version, now displays a 404
03:33:38 <rust_collector> is there really any difference in the service pack per language?
03:34:46 <LordGeir> I didn't think so, because the EN version states Norwegian as a supported language, but when I run the installer it says wrong language
03:36:14 <rust_collector> I have always tried to avoid sp3, so I really do not know much about it
03:38:03 <rust_collector> but.... if you open the cd, where do you look, to see if it is sp3?
03:38:10 <rust_collector> oh, this only says sp2
03:38:25 <LordGeir> Same as mine, it's also sp2
03:38:45 <rust_collector> so, time to go look for the other one
03:39:28 <LordGeir> I have a few hundred old cds laying around that I have to check
03:44:45 <rust_collector> mmmmhnope. I think this is sp1.

04:04:23 <Nothing\> you are seeing me type
04:04:59 <rust_collector> no, you have a piece of tape covering your camera
04:07:53 <Nothing\> lol i remember when that used to be practical
04:08:14 <rust_collector> it still works just fine
04:08:19 <Nothing\> now they built the cameras into devices so seamlessly you can't cover it up without covering up a good portion of your screen too
04:09:02 <Nothing\> for an external camera on a pc, sure. Just unplug the camera
04:09:33 <Nothing\> oh rust_collector you're the one i got to watch that Bald and Bankrupt guy ages ago, right?
04:09:42 <Nothing\> English guy, travels to soviet places a lot
04:09:46 <Nothing\> bald
04:09:57 <Nothing\> i'm pretty sure that was you
04:10:01 <rust_collector> I know the guy, yes.
04:10:28 <Nothing\> it occurred to me today, many of his episodes actually include a norwegian friend of his named harald baldr
04:10:34 <Nothing\> at least named that online
04:10:38 <rust_collector> yes
04:10:50 <Nothing\> ah so you know, excrement
04:11:08 <Nothing\> i just wanted to apprise you of the activities and whereabouts of your fellow countrymen

04:11:26 <Nothing\> speaking of which, it sounds like my countrymen gotsome splainin to do
04:11:32 <rust_collector> oh, you know where "harald"is?
04:11:55 <Nothing\> apparently police in ottawa raided the home of a Senagalese diplomat, knowing her status, and beat her in front of her children
04:12:10 <Nothing\> they claim she was being aggressive and not cooperating but regardless, SHE'S A DIPLOMAT
04:12:22 <Nothing\> and wtf were they even there for in the first place? they never even said
04:12:34 <Nothing\> just something vague about serving some court documents or something
04:12:42 <Nothing\> but they shouldn't have been there period
04:12:56 <Nothing\> it's just funny because Ottawa's PD has come under so much scrutiny lately
04:13:06 <rust_collector> cops beating up someone, because of documents? lol
04:13:20 <rust_collector> perfect
04:13:37 <Nothing\> actually i dunno if it's Ottawa. One source said Ottawa, another said Saguenay, quebec. Which for all I know, Saguenay is just a suburb of ottawa or something
04:13:45 <Nothing\> rust_collector, not just somebody
04:13:50 <Nothing\> somebody with diplomatic immunity
04:13:54 <rust_collector> does not matter
04:13:58 <Nothing\> well it does
04:14:01 <Nothing\> very much
04:14:01 <rust_collector> no
04:14:03 <Nothing\> at least on paper
04:14:10 <Nothing\> (let me finishlol)
04:14:17 <rust_collector> no, you are busy
04:14:28 <Nothing\> i am
04:14:36 <rust_collector> CORNHOLIO!
04:14:38 <Nothing\> i'm very busy. I have to rush through everything I do.
04:14:44 <Nothing\> just so I can do something else.
04:14:55 <Nothing\> rust_collector, that's weird because i read yesterday that they're rebooting Beavis and Butthead.
04:14:57 <Nothing\> again
04:15:07 <rust_collector> oh noes
04:15:15 <Nothing\> actually apparently this time they're gonna make fun of tik tok and youtube videos instead of music videos
04:15:20 <Nothing\> won't that be fun?
04:15:27 * Nothing\ swallows vomit
04:15:28 <rust_collector> I don't know
04:15:44 <rust_collector> maybe
04:15:45 <Nothing\> rust_collector, oh yeah also bald and bankrupt was arrested by russian police a few weeks ago lol
04:15:52 <rust_collector> no
04:16:09 <Nothing\> he broke into the Baikonur Cosmodrome and into the hangar that held the 2 Buran space shuttles
04:16:15 <Nothing\> got caught on his way out
04:16:25 <Nothing\> he says he was just detained a few hours, questioned and fined 60 quid
04:16:34 <rust_collector> I know, being talked to is not being arrested
04:16:40 Quit: internet ([email protected]) Quit: Connection closed
04:16:42 <Nothing\> well it technically is
04:17:03 <Nothing\> being arrested is just being detained for an investigation. It doesn't have anything to do with the ultimate outcome
04:17:19 <Nothing\> if you're held by police in jail, that's generally considered being arrested. Whether or not you're charged.
04:17:30 <rust_collector> sure
04:17:31 <Nothing\> even the word taken at its literal value, arrest means to stop
04:17:45 <Nothing\> at least as i understand it from translating the word into french
04:17:50 <Nothing\> ie french for stop is arret
04:17:51 <rust_collector> but being put in an office, and asked about things... naah
04:17:58 <Nothing\> therefor arrest must mean to stop
04:18:00 <rust_collector> I don\t care, he was not arrested
04:18:12 <Nothing\> rust_collector, it's very minory i'll give you that.
04:18:17 <Nothing\> but i still consider it an arrest
04:18:25 <Nothing\> he was detained in order to stop him committing a crime
04:18:36 <rust_collector> you can not do that, because you are canadian,
04:18:46 <Nothing\> in any case, if that's all that happened to him he should consider himself lucky.
04:19:10 <rust_collector> now the cops will come and beat up your dog, or switch
04:19:19 <Nothing\> rust_collector, can't do what? redefine words as i see fit? of course i can. I'm the king of the words!
04:19:27 <Nothing\> bow down before me
04:19:32 <rust_collector> no no, you are canadian
04:19:32 <Nothing\> for i know such words as... ummm
04:19:36 <Nothing\> CHIRAL
04:19:38 <Nothing\> and
04:19:40 <Nothing\> hmm
04:19:45 <Nothing\> bootylicious
04:19:45 <rust_collector> ummm is a much better word, imo
04:19:52 <Nothing\> and grok
04:19:55 <Nothing\> can't forget grok
04:20:05 <Nothing\> best word there is next to sitzpinkler
04:20:29 <Nothing\> i bet norwegian's got some cool words like that
04:20:47 <Nothing\> or on a more serious note, i've always loved shaudenfreude
04:20:54 <Nothing\> which i probably misspelled but oh well
04:21:09 <Nothing\> oh schwanzschneider
04:21:14 <Nothing\> *or
04:22:21 <Nothing\> huh in google translate when you have the input language set to something with a non-latin script, like greek in my case. When I started typing using my regular latin characters, it transliterated it into greek text for me.
04:22:40 <Nothing\> which is useful, but can't be that accurate since languages don't transliterate between eachother very gracefully
04:23:41 <Nothing\> i had this idea about writing all of my notes to myself in cyrillic because i have this inexplicable DaVinci like paranoia that someone may read it and so it needs to be encoded somehow. Like how he wrote everything in mirrored writing.
04:24:02 <Nothing\> but I gave it up once I realized there's no russian equivalent for the sound of W or TH
04:24:29 <Nothing\> i figured TH i could fix by using the letter theta to represent it but i dunno about W yet
04:24:36 <Nothing\> omega?
04:24:50 <Nothing\> nah that's not pure enough
04:25:03 <Nothing\> it can't just look the part it has to sound the part
04:25:32 <Nothing\> maybe a V i guess
04:25:46 <Nothing\> russians already seem to have a thing with Vs and Ws
04:26:01 <Nothing\> holy hell i need to shave. My beard is 1.5in
04:26:25 <Nothing\> it keeps getting in my mouth. Or worse, other fibers and hairs stick to it and then THOSE get in my mouth.
04:26:47 <Nothing\> i dunno how anyone wears a beard regularly. It's just all sorts of hassle and uncomfortable
04:27:18 <Nothing\> actually what was it... I think Turkmenistan where it was illegal for a time for a man to NOT have a beard.
04:27:22 <rust_collector> just because shaving is boring
04:27:46 <Nothing\> or I've heard of other places where you can't have a beard where people literally have to shave in the airport before going out.
04:27:58 <Nothing\> rust_collector, i'm just too depressed to be bothered keeping up with anything
04:28:10 <rust_collector> I just hate shaving
04:28:18 <Nothing\> i keep my body clean enough to feel comfortable that's it
04:28:44 <Nothing\> i've got no one to be nice smelling for anyways
04:29:17 <Nothing\> and actually i don't have much of a smell unless it's been like a week since i've used any deodorant or antiperspirant, which let's face it is better than any deodorant-
04:29:41 <Nothing\> I love antiperspirant because you only have to put it one like twice a week and it still works great.
04:30:15 <Nothing\> although apparently it exposes you to aluminium. Which I guess the jury's out as to whether that causes alzheimer's or not but i doubt it does.
04:30:20 <rust_collector> a thin coating of superglue
04:30:49 <Nothing\> you know that stuff they use in lieu of stitches sometimes that's just glue to bond your skin back together?
04:31:03 <Nothing\> it's literally the same thing as superglue. Just cyanoacrylate lol
04:31:19 <Nothing\> which means supergluing a wound shut isn't as crazy or reckless as it seems
04:31:31 <Nothing\> probably doesn't feel too great though.
04:31:34 <rust_collector> I know. that is why I do that a lot
04:31:51 <Kuschelpony> it does not badly burn
04:32:09 <rust_collector> I dunno, it is not bad, but I think people have different ways to feel "pain"
04:32:19 <Kuschelpony> the major distinction is that the medical version is guaranteed pure and safe, while the 1€ version is ehm... doubtful
04:32:25 <Nothing\> I sliced my finger with a dull knife trying to cut strawberries the other week and tried to have some fun with it by rubbing all sorts of sharpie into it. Hoping I could make a little ink rubbing on the top of my finger.
04:32:39 <Nothing\> the ink ultimately got pushed out. But man that stung like a bee when i did it.
04:33:09 <Nothing\> again, not as crazy as it sounds though. I made sure there's nothing toxic in sharpies and the butanol base would actually act as a disinfectant so, win/win as far as i'm concerned lol
04:33:47 <Nothing\> Kuschelpony, yeah that's the thing is it should be USP grade if you're using it for medical purposes
04:33:56 Quit: LordGeir ([email protected]) Quit: Leaving...
04:34:26 <Kuschelpony> im hapy i did not need it again the recent years, the last cuts have all been very tame
04:36:46 <Nothing\> Kuschelpony, you're lucky you don't live in montreal.
04:37:03 <Kuschelpony> why?
04:37:04 <rust_collector> heh
04:37:13 <rust_collector> that is a weird thing to say, lol
04:37:17 <Nothing\> I guess they had a Pride Parade planned for this weekend. They wound up cancelling it last minute, hours beforehand, because they didn't have enough security.
04:37:39 <Nothing\> rust_collector, well i just remember how disappointed he was about things not going well for the one he went to.
04:37:50 <Kuschelpony> i had sometimes thought i would love to be there for ecvents and an old friend, but at the same time i also know thats too much for me to handle to make a holiday there
04:37:57 <Kuschelpony> ooops
04:38:08 <Kuschelpony> well i went to our local pride parade yesterday
04:38:10 <Nothing\> so i'm saying this must have been so disappointing to everyone
04:38:24 <Nothing\> Kuschelpony, oh yeah? so how was it?
04:38:36 <Nothing\> i thought that was weeks ago. Wasn't pride month back in June?
04:38:48 <Nothing\> I figured they'd have the parade during pride month.
04:39:20 <rust_collector> I wonder what happened, but it seems like it happens all the time now
04:39:20 <Kuschelpony> Nuremburg is somewhat behind pride...
04:39:26 <Nothing\> I remember eseing the flags everywhere. But I'm hearing now that all of these places have/had parades scheduled for this weekend.
04:39:48 <Nothing\> Which is definitely a better weekend in terms of weather to have it i think than in june. At least if you're going by 1998 weather.
04:40:30 <Nothing\> actually who am i kidding. I got married outdoors on July 5th and it was so hot that my suit was drenched and everybody pretty much took off as much as they could as soon as the ceremony was over
04:40:39 <Kuschelpony> at least the weather was next to perfect this year
04:40:55 <Nothing\> we had a tent but it was 30+ that day. And to be in that in a DARK 3 piece suit is just torture.
04:41:03 <Nothing\> ah that's good to hear.
04:41:14 <Nothing\> I dunno how bad Germany's been. But I know Spain's had some awful heat lately
04:41:16 <Nothing\> and the UK
04:41:25 <Nothing\> so it seems to sort of be creeping in on you guys if nothing else
04:42:35 <Nothing\> actually i was reading about this plant native to spain yesterday. It has a chemical in it that when the temperature gets above 32c, it randomly bursts into flames. So I'm just thinking how many brush fires those plants must be causing during this heat.
04:43:25 <Nothing\> I don't know about Europe, but forest fires are a huge problem in Northern Ontario and in BC. especially the last couple of years.
04:44:07 <Nothing\> the fires up north were so bad that they changed the color of the sunsets here for a month. Which admittedly was pretty cool. And interesting that fires 1500km away would affect us.
04:45:51 <Nothing\> actually we had some really cool sunsets the other week. The entire sky, not just where the sun was setting, was this vibrant peach/orange/pink color that changed as the sun set more and more. And the color of the sky lit up everything else with these unnatural colors. It was like being on another planet or something.
04:47:03 <Nothing\> it's like, one of my favourite things is in the winter when snow's on the ground. There's this perfect time of day for just 30 minutes at sun rise and sun set where the dark blue color of the sky reflects off of the snow and makes everything appear to have this blue tint to it.
04:47:49 <Nothing\> lol man
04:48:18 <Kuschelpony> until friday we had 30 to 37°C
04:48:32 <Kuschelpony> saturday that chiled to around 22
04:48:41 <Nothing\> looking at this local flight map. I keep seeing the ambulance helicopter and I can't help but think how unfortunate it is that its tail number or whatever is C-GYNO
04:49:13 <Nothing\> Kuschelpony, our actual temps have been about the same. Low 30s. But with humidity taken into account, the "feels like" temperature is more like 42, 43 degrees.
04:49:25 <Nothing\> humidex, heat index, whatever your country calls it
04:49:40 <Nothing\> like the heat equivalent of a windchill i guess
04:49:46 <Kuschelpony> its always that humid here... we have very rarely dry days like the americans with their deserts
04:49:58 <Kuschelpony> yes, humidex its called
04:50:14 <Nothing\> it's always super humid here because we have the great lakes surrounding us on every side except to the north.
04:51:46 <Nothing\> then in the winter we (at least used to) are on a snow belt so we get excessive snowfall
04:51:59 <Kuschelpony> https://rubber-social-media.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/cache/media_attachments/files/108/783/027/028/874/652/original/a54987161e31ee7d.png
04:52:40 <Ysjoelfir> Bwahahahaha
04:52:41 <Nothing\> not so much here anymore. But when I lived on the shore of Lake Huron it was on 2 snow belts on account of being so close to the lakes. They get a lot of aptly named "lake effect snow" where the moisture off the lakes creates snow.
04:52:42 <Ysjoelfir> I love that
04:53:03 <Nothing\> driving down the road you'd routinely see mounds of snow at the side of the road the size of houses
04:53:23 <Nothing\> we'd get several meters of snow just accumulated on the ground each year.
04:53:42 <Nothing\> and at least once a week we'd get a snow storm that dumped 30cm or more on us
04:54:06 <Nothing\> it wasn't even that far north. Maybe 45 degrees or so

04:54:53 <Nothing\> i think i forgot how to eat
04:55:03 <Nothing\> lol
04:55:11 <Nothing\> man i would totally take you up on that though
04:55:17 <Nothing\> i still haven't eaten yet
04:55:34 <Nothing\> but when i do it'll be a delicious 1lb bowl of granola cereal in almond milk
04:55:42 <Nothing\> which might as well be water in the context of cereal
04:56:16 <Ampera> lol
04:56:20 <Ampera> why not real milk
04:56:42 <Nothing\> but i'm trying to cut dairy out of my diet to see if that helps the pain. I dunno if it's a coincidence but it actually has gotten significantly better in the few days since i did that. But I ate dairy yesterday to see if it changed anything and it did not seem to
04:57:00 <Ampera> ah
04:57:09 <Nothing\> i don't think i'm lactose intolerant. But I thought maybe there's a fat or protein or something in dairy that's causing irritation
04:57:31 <Nothing\> incidentally my laxative pretty much imitates the symptoms of lactose intolerance. That's how it works.
04:57:35 <Nothing\> lactulose

04:59:12 <Nothing\> it's a milk sugar that isn't digested because we lack any enzyme to break it down so it goes into the lower GI tract where it's fermented heavily by gut bacteria, creating excessive gas, while drawing literal craptons of water into your colon via osmosis. High gradient with lots of sugar in your inestine vs no gradient outside, so water is drawn in and it softens your poops and lubricates everything etc.
04:59:53 <Nothing\> but it also causes a lot of gas which can be uncomfortable. But thankfully I've somehow discovered some yoga type positions or stretches or whatever that make me pass gas almost instantly when i need to

05:02:54 <Ampera> hrm
05:02:56 <LordGeir> Hi Nothing\
05:03:04 <Nothing> they claimed she was being aggressive etc but i mean she's a diplomat, they shouldn't have even been there.
05:03:05 <Ampera> did they run out of natives to hurt?
05:03:13 <LordGeir> Had to install the latest update of MacOS
05:03:13 <Nothing> so she was right to be pissed
05:03:20 <Nothing> she had diplomatic immunity
05:03:50 <Nothing> she may not have been in an embassy but i'd imagine beating a foreign diplomat is generally frowned upon by the UN

05:04:27 <Nothing> which is more than most do
05:04:56 <Nothing> you have to admit, if anyone would do something about it other than the senagalese government, it would be the UN probably.
05:05:06 <Nothing> maybe the ICC
05:05:20 <Nothing> but they only care about punishing African warlords
05:05:32 <Nothing> 27 convictions to date, every single one of them African
05:05:51 <Nothing> i think we talked about this before
05:06:25 <Nothing> how they were GOING to go after Slobadan Milosevic after the Serbian Genocide in the 90's and then decided he could be tried locally instead.
05:07:25 <Nothing> and now they're investigating the perpetrators of the military coup of Myanmar's government. People are saying this COULD be the first time a non-african is convicted by the ICC. But I doubt that'll happen.
05:07:53 <Nothing> IF they ever take action against a non-african, I could see it being Putin. And that's a very big if.
05:08:28 <Nothing> oh lol rust1 remember how i said i found all of those free snes games on my switch yesterday?

05:13:56 <Nothing> lol my cat made a new friend last night
05:14:42 <Nothing> had the patio window opened and he starts looking out real intently at something. So I go to the window to see what it is and it's a damn juvenile skunk hissing at us and stomping.

05:16:27 <steve30> I just did a google search for 'south "porkshire" police', with porkshire in quotes as i knew it would probably try and change it to Yorkshire.
05:16:51 <steve30> And indeed it did change it to Yorkshire, despite the quotes.
05:17:02 <Nothing> lol porkshire
05:17:15 <Nothing> for a second i thought that was a real place even though i got the pun

05:40:02 <Nothing> having fun playing with this webcam i took the IR filter out of. But hard pressed thinking of things to do with it.
05:40:31 <Nothing> I guess I have an IR LED I could maybe use it to test materials for IR opacity
05:41:40 <Nothing> or if i could find something to filter the green light out of it, i could use it to visualize the infrared portion of the output from my janky green laser from eBay.

09:57:54 <Halcyon> What is it this week?
09:58:00 <Ampera> Rust, for the moment.
09:58:15 <Halcyon> Didn't even know that was a language
09:58:51 <Ampera> It is, and has a lot going for it
09:58:56 <Ampera> but it's also pretty bizarre in its own right
09:59:15 <Halcyon> Mmmm in what way?
09:59:34 <Ampera> by default, variables are constant
09:59:49 <Ampera> but it's called not "mutable", and there is a different type of constant
10:00:01 <Ampera> I'm still reading through the docs, and don't yet get the point

16:48:03 <Halcyon> Hey electrohead, you around?
17:03:32 <rust1> steve30 do you know how old film cameras could use 2 rolls of tape? or spools, or whatever they were. I saw one for sale, with 2x8mm film
17:13:31 <Halcyon> Tape?
17:13:46 <rust1> film roll things
17:13:57 <Halcyon> You mean film
17:14:10 <rust1> or maybe film

17:19:02 <rust1> not that I see more than one film inside it, but...
17:20:16 <Halcyon> I'm assuming the dual film canisters are for extended runtime?
17:20:38 <Halcyon> So it can cut over to the second roll automatically once the first is used up rather than just stopping
17:21:44 <rust1> but, from the pics, I can only see one film. I dunno, maybe it is just a model name or something
17:22:11 <Halcyon> Not sure
17:22:56 <rust1> then we agree, lol
17:51:12 <K> hello brushes
