17:12:30 <Ampera> I intend to put everything on monitor arms, and increase my monitor count from 4 to 6.
17:12:30 <Halcyon> Monitor arms are nice
17:12:30 <Halcyon> I'm still considering a new monitor, but I want something very high res
17:12:30 <Ampera> If I could absolutely have my way, I'd get 6 of the really nice monitor arms, the one you can screw to the desk and then move things around with
17:12:30 <Ampera> I've found resolution isn't as important to me as multiple displays are. When I am programming, I very quickly find myself running out of monitor room
17:12:30 <Halcyon> Well, resolution/monitors are essentially the same thing. You're increasing the amount of available screen real estate
17:12:30 <Halcyon> But I like to have a seamless set up, so I can run in fullscreen if I wanted, or, I can have multiple windows open one on large monitor
17:12:30 <Ampera> I disagree, having multiple, lower resolution monitors allows for considerably easier partition of work.
17:12:30 <Halcyon> I find it distracting
17:12:30 <Ampera> Since you can often have radically different aspect ratios with multiple monitors like htat.
17:12:30 <Halcyon> Having been there and done that
17:12:30 <Halcyon> Oh yeh if you're mixing monitors/resolutions/ratios
17:12:30 <Ampera> I don't, I have 4 monitors right now, and besides it being an actual tanning booth, I love it.
17:12:30 <Halcyon> I find myself far more productive on a single high resolution screen
17:12:30 <Ampera> Well I do that because I can't afford homogeneous monitors.
17:12:30 <Halcyon> We use 2x 4K at work and even that I find distracting
17:12:30 <Halcyon> Mostly due to Windows 10
17:12:30 <Ampera> We might have radically different workloads though, I do a lot of chatting in separate windows, I like to monitor things, I often have two browser tabs open at once
17:12:31 <Halcyon> It randomly decides to resize open Windows and text sizes as it sees fit
17:12:31 <Ampera> I'd have 0 use for 4k. For me, 4K is something I'd use on a TV or a large format display/
17:12:31 <Ampera> It's also a pain in the ass when I have to deal with HiDPI shit, as I've learned all too well on my tablet.
17:12:31 <Ampera> so keeping everything at around the same DPI measure is preferable.
17:12:31 <Halcyon> As for me, I never run anything (except the odd video) in fullscreen
17:12:31 <Ampera> Right now I have HexChat, Discord, and two browsers open.
17:12:31 <Halcyon> At the moment I'm running 2560x1600 and I have 4-5 windows open all on the one screen, including 2 browsers
17:12:31 <Ampera> but in a programming workload I start running out of space because I like to have one chat window open while I work, a web browser for research, potentially a media player, and 2 or more terminals open for looking at source files.
17:12:31 <Halcyon> Same
17:12:31 <Ampera> So something like a 6 monitor setup would be perfect for me in that situation.
17:12:31 <Halcyon> But if I had a monitor capable of higher resolution, I could fit more on
17:12:31 <Ampera> The issue is I don't like doing that because the aspect ration when you split things as such is often annoying
17:12:31 <Halcyon> Everything would be just a bit smaller, which is fine. I tend to reduce the size of fonts anyway
17:12:31 <Ampera> like trying to split a 16:9 display in two, there's just no good way to do it.
17:12:31 <Ampera> I might have to open a window, it's getting blazing hot in here
17:12:31 <Ampera> nearing 80 degrees
17:12:31 <Halcyon> What is that in proper units?
17:12:31 <Ampera> 80 degrees
17:12:31 <Ampera> 26.66666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666C
17:12:31 <Halcyon> Yeh that is a bit warm
17:12:31 <Halcyon> I like indoor temperature to be 21-23
17:12:31 <Ampera> I think the temperature I like best is a nice 63
17:12:31 <Ampera> 17.2222222222C
17:12:31 <Ampera> 21-23 is a bit warm for me, but we usually keep the house at 69 in the winter
17:12:31 <Ampera> In other news I've been messing around with my dad's old miniDV camcorder, I'm thinking of using it to shoot some YouTube videos I've had planned for years
17:12:31 <Ampera> but just haven't had the time, place, or will to do
17:12:31 <Ampera> I have 7 hours worth of tapes, so it should be pretty fun.

17:12:31 <Halcyon> I think I have a MiniDV camera somewhere
17:12:31 <Halcyon> I have a buttload of tapes, do you need any more?
17:12:31 <Ampera> Lolno
