02:29:34 <electrohead> lol
02:42:33 <arch> electrohead, we need to come up with a system for nerds where first dibs on equipment after we pass away goes to other nerds rather than family members
02:43:21 <arch> equipment as in generally considered nerdy equipment like scopes, radio equipment, comic books, etc
02:43:59 <arch> you must prove your nerdiness in order to be eligible to participate in calling dibs :p
02:45:12 <electrohead> yeah that would be a fair system lol
02:48:30 <arch> but it might end up pulling in some "entrepreneur" (vulture/scalper) type hustlers who happen to be nerds. maybe we need to also have a max net worth clause in there too
02:49:06 <arch> and we need to have a credit report pull, and background check in there too
03:25:21 <arch> mmmm. tastes like silicon dioxide
03:28:14 <electrohead> lol

05:28:35 <arch> Kuschelpony, anything else you can think of that i should add here for a muxed power input protection? https://i.imgur.com/adXHSKb.png
05:28:56 <Kuschelpony> hello arch
05:29:00 <arch> hi Kuschelpony

05:32:31 <rust_collector> background check... so, you want to make sure they are using a green screen?
05:32:33 <Kuschelpony> not sure, looks mostly ok to me
05:33:09 <Kuschelpony> maybe lossy ferrite beads in series for a little bit additional damping
05:33:29 <arch> meh who cares about EMI
05:35:41 * arch activates his DIY scraggly AF psu which outputs enough EMI to mess with electrohead's ham radio setup a few states away
05:49:13 <arch> isnt it crazy how these old psus had thousands upon thousands of uF capacitance. and these days, all the rails are DC-DC with puny 220uF-330uF combined
05:49:37 <arch> probably even less these days, what with MHz switching speeds
05:49:54 <rust_collector> uhm, no
05:51:37 <arch> um, ya. looking at this 1600W EVGA supernova psu right here
05:57:48 <rust_collector> I don't care, it is not crazy
07:33:14 <flyback> that's progress

08:03:49 <T3sl4> arch: nah, just a receiver or two i made
08:06:25 <T3sl4> LLC resonant delivers load current nearly continuously, it's pretty sweet
10:09:42 * arch delivers a load continuously to T3sl4 https://i.makeagif.com/media/9-17-2024/4C04yS.gif
10:20:16 <Casper> while there is still fresh snow...

12:11:15 <Halcyon> Better
12:11:16 <Ampera> watcha up to Halcyon?
12:11:33 <Halcyon> Working, but also procrastinating. Need to go up to the post office and collect a parcel.
12:11:37 <Halcyon> How about you?
12:12:52 <Ampera> Just picked out my outfit for tomorrow, and laying down
12:13:04 <Ampera> contemplating what shoes I want to wear
12:13:18 <Halcyon> Nice.
12:13:40 <Ampera> my legs are still a bit sore from car stuffs
12:22:00 <MrMobodies> the barman brought these things in on the last minute on the News Years eve

12:22:19 <MrMobodies> Seems to work well with Freestyler X2
12:22:45 <MrMobodies> shame they don't have a USB output especially for things like the wireless DMX
12:22:46 <Halcyon> From squatting Ampera?
12:23:06 <MrMobodies> so like the cans velcro'd a double sock on them
12:23:06 <Ampera> Halcyon, getting up and down a bunch, sitting on wet snow
12:23:17 <Ampera> and yeah a bit of bending over and squatting
12:23:21 <Halcyon> But then you get a wet arse
12:23:22 <Ampera> lifting car up, etc.
12:23:26 <Ampera> yes I did
12:23:35 <Ampera> but it was either that or fail inspection
12:23:39 <Halcyon> Fair enough
12:23:54 <Ampera> and I guess not have brakes, but who needs those
12:24:10 <MrMobodies> your brakes failed?
12:24:15 <Halcyon> Eh. That's what engine braking is for :P
12:24:24 <T3sl4> i'll break your engine
12:24:40 <MrMobodies> with a bit of coasting
12:24:54 <Halcyon> Hey T3sl4
12:26:09 <MrMobodies> there is snow here too
12:26:22 <MrMobodies> normally it goes but it's here and the ground froxen
12:26:32 <Ampera> my brakes didn't fail, just one of the pads prematurely wore down
12:26:43 <MrMobodies> -3 at the moment
12:26:45 <Ampera> so i ended up having to replace all the rear brakes
12:26:56 <T3sl4> it's melty here, of all things. had some good snow a couple weeks ago
12:27:43 <MrMobodies> my Audi had a sensor failed
12:27:55 <MrMobodies> they ordered the wrong part
12:28:04 <MrMobodies> but anyway they are still waiting for it
12:28:17 <MrMobodies> so they wired the sensor to another break for it to pass the MOT
12:28:36 <MrMobodies> they were saying it was not easy to get parts for it anymore
12:29:11 <MrMobodies> it is a pleasure when it goes up hills
12:29:31 <MrMobodies> no need push on the peddle harder
12:29:46 <MrMobodies> it just pulls up smoothly without much noise
12:30:20 <MrMobodies> unlike the boy racers in this village that whizz around and make an awful lot of noise for trivial performance
12:30:38 <MrMobodies> in their 1+litre cars
12:31:44 <MrMobodies> Unfortunatelty it's future is doomed in about 2030 with the transition to battery vehicles
12:31:56 <MrMobodies> if it don't require any more parts
12:50:04 * electrohead coffees Halcyon
13:34:31 <steve30> I'm just looking at some photos from a few years ago.
13:35:11 <steve30> Someone has a sign which says "Trans and Ace Equality Now!". I'm just trying to figure out how to interpret that.
13:36:14 <steve30> I thought it has nothing to do with each other, then it just occurred to me that as "aces" have right, and "trans" don't, they probably want to equalise them :)

15:19:03 <MrMobodies> and behaves like the 16bit software I got with the battery charger in 2006 and hogs and entire CPU core.
15:20:38 <MrMobodies> right I see it starts doing after I select a network card. Absolutely Piss Poor.
15:21:00 <MrMobodies> basically hogging an entire core doing nothing

15:38:15 <MrMobodies> collapsible in the background
15:38:46 <MrMobodies> as long as I don't click done and do it through the utilities menu it don't hog an entire core

16:31:00 <MrMobodies> Bullshit article that sounded just like the UK Digital ID bill
16:31:01 <MrMobodies> https://www.england.nhs.uk/2026/01/menopause-and-prostate-conditions-prioritised-for-nhss-new-online-hospital/
16:31:01 <EEVBot> [url] NHS England » Menopause and prostate conditions prioritised for NHS’s new online hospital | www.england.nhs.uk
16:31:20 <MrMobodies> Bullshit buzzword: modernise the health service. It will harness digital technology to fundamentally change how people are able to access healthcare for generations to come, ensuring it is more personalised, more convenient and more democratic.
16:32:35 <MrMobodies> whilst giving the elements that deny the patients in the first place, "online hospital' (doctor can't feel you, triage: (a system/blanket policy/flow diagram that can MISS things)
16:34:00 <MrMobodies> I expect patients to go to "THE SYSTEM" like the GO surgery but at A&E", then blanket policy/flow diagram "Triage" questions either fobs them off or send them on a wild goose chase.
16:34:43 <MrMobodies> "Modernise/revolutionize" using all the worst elements possible in force today at the local GP surgeries
16:35:20 <MrMobodies> Oh good so there is some hope "NHS Online won’t replace traditional care. Patients will always have the choice of face-to-face appointments"

23:22:12 <Nothing\> WOOO I FINALLY DID IT!
23:22:51 <Nothing\> i made a fully working XOR gate from individual transistors using NMOS logic
23:24:26 <Nothing\> back in the day before I could figure out where to acquire chips and so much as a NOR gate array was like gold to me, I would always try to recreate logic circuits. But, I used RTL logic, so it had shit fan out and the signal was really tenuous but, NMOS fixed it. And it's so much easier to make.
23:24:44 <Nothing\> even trying to do it with TTL didn't work, but I suspect I mis-wired something.
23:26:11 <Nothing\> the next step is a latch/flip flop
23:26:36 <Nothing\> or maybe something like a 4 bit SRAM "module"
23:27:09 <Nothing\> OR A FULL 16 BIT ALU (jk)
