21:49:48 <Nothing\> why on earth would one need to pressurize an RF waveguide?
21:51:58 <Nothing\> my lock screen on my computer is a page out of a catalogue featuring a variety of heavy duty waveguide fittings, unidirection narrowband coupler, bulkhead flange, 90 degree elbow, rotating joint, and then I just noticed for the first time in 3 years of having it there that there's also a "pressurizing unit" with an analogue gauge on it
21:52:12 <Nothing\> i could see running it in a vacuum, but pressurized?
21:52:51 <Nothing\> unless it's pressurized with an inert gas for some reason
21:53:08 <Nothing\> i suppose if it's microwave, any humidity would attenuate the signal?
21:53:13 <Nothing\> or am i mistaken
21:54:50 <Nothing\> i feel like water should block microwaves, but I remember doing an experiment where i put a bathtub full of water in the line of sight between my phone and my router, expecting that both the metal chassis and the literal tons of water would block it, and it did a little but, but only by maybe 6 or 9db
21:55:28 * Nothing\ twiddles his thumbs
21:55:42 <Nothing\> bananas in pyjamas are com-ing down the stairs
21:55:52 <Nothing\> bananas in pyjamas are com-ing down in pairs
21:56:38 <rc_garage> oh no, step brother banana, I am stuck in the stairs

22:21:55 <Nothing\> lol i found out a funny story about that show
22:22:14 <Nothing\> apparently they were doing this world tour thing where they would take pictures of the bananas in front of various landmarks
22:22:56 <Nothing\> when they went to Russia to do Red Square, somewhere along the way the banana suits were kidnapped by the Russian Mafia, who demanded $20,000 for them
22:23:45 <Nothing\> so they figured out it would cost about the same just to make new costumes. So, they wound up just making newer, more breathable, more comfortable costumes and telling the Russian Mafia to have fun with their banana suits
22:24:09 <Nothing\> so, now it's thought the Bananas are rotting away in a Russian Gulag off in Siberia, somewhere
22:24:17 <Nothing\> rofl

22:25:03 <Nothing\> i guess the suits were horrendously hot though. They had to cool the set to near freezing so they wouldn't die of hyperthermia while the rest of the crew wore winter gear. Which I don't imagine is an easy thing to buy in Australia.
22:25:51 <Nothing\> which is funny because it was the complete opposite in America back when they needed huge, hot studio lights to get enough lighting for the picture tubes to actually capture a coherent image
22:25:58 <Nothing\> those stages were hot af
22:26:26 <Nothing\> then again, it was the 50's so I'm not even sure if a/c was common then
22:26:53 <Nothing\> I learned that for being used so much as a coolant, water has a shit thermal conductivity
22:27:10 <Nothing\> at least compared to metals
22:27:26 <Nothing\> i bet it's better if you have a salt solution
22:27:31 <Nothing\> sorry, adhd tangent

23:57:34 <arch> the horrors!
