02:09:47 <Nothing\> heya Kuschelpony
02:10:25 <Nothing\> maybe you can help me, i'm trying to find an appropriate lubricant for the bearings on my glider rocking chair.
02:11:14 <Nothing\> rustcollector suggested lithium grease, but the stuff I got has the consistency of peanut butter and would probably just gunk it all up. I think it's meant more for bearings or hinges with high loads
02:11:32 <Nothing\> but i'm thinking graphite powder might work
02:12:28 <Nothing\> i just have a really squeaky joint and need to de-squak the hinge/bearings whatever part is squeaking
02:14:52 <steve30> OK, I got my reddit account back. The admins said I'd been compromised.
02:15:10 <steve30> I get the impression that someone has been using it to post paedo stuff
02:20:27 <steve30> lol, the hackers changed my profile description to
02:20:28 <steve30> "heyy i just turned 18 and i'm here to meet new people and see where things go :3 be sweet to me and maybe we can make something fun and cute together"
02:32:55 <electrohead> lithium grease is slightly universal
02:34:14 * steve30 unsubscribes from r/Nudevideos18
02:36:00 <rc-garage> I can suggest several kinds of grease and other lubricants, but I am pretty sure you dont want most of them in your house, unless you want fingerprints on everything
02:36:31 <rc-garage> well, lock oil with teflon could probably be a good option
02:41:49 <Nothing\> steve30, i got permabanned from reddit a few months ago because a post was flagged for something, but it was removed, so when I went to appeal it I said outright "you already removed this before I could see what you're accusing me of so I can't really say what happened but I know I didn't threaten anyone with violence." Every so often if you describe violence, the AI automods assume you're describing violence against another user and autoban you.
02:41:49 <Nothing\> So, I assume that's what happened. but I certainly don't threaten people with violence on Reddit. What's the point, even? It's like trying to challenge someone to a fist fight over the internet. laughable at most.
02:42:46 <Nothing\> But, I guess the real mods didn't like me pointing out that they destroyed the evidence of their accusation before i even got a chance to appeal, much less know what it is I'm even being accused of besides something vague like "threatening violence"
02:43:23 <Nothing\> it was only the 2nd time automod screwed me like that, but somehow i wound up with a permaban
02:43:50 <Nothing\> i went on the next day to find my account saying "you're banned for 24 hours" if I tried to post anything
02:43:59 <Nothing\> then after 24 hours it would say I was banned for 3 days
02:44:08 <Nothing\> then after 3 days it would say i was banned for a week
02:44:14 <Nothing\> then after a week, it said i was permabanned lol
02:44:21 <steve30> This is the first time I've had any trouble, and it seems my account was hacked, and given there are accusations of the hacker using it to post inappropriate material, they probably did the right thing in banning it.
02:44:28 <Nothing\> i just took it as a sign i need to gtfo
02:44:56 <Nothing\> they're bringing some really draconian laws into effect on a federal level here
02:45:04 <steve30> The advantage of reddit is you can read it without an account (except for NSFW stuff)
02:45:59 <Nothing\> to address the issue of children being harmed by social media, the Canadian government passed a bill that makes it so you can't use social media without a special government issued ID
02:46:27 <Nothing\> which i'm not about to connect my personal information that directly to social media
02:47:15 <Nothing\> and a lot of people feel the same. It's just an opportunity for ne'er-do-wellers to steal more peoples' personal information
02:48:01 <Nothing\> and i'm not sure how true it is or not, i've only heard murmurings of it, but from what I heard you'll have to enter this ID number every single time you post anything on social media
02:49:20 <rc-garage> how, or, what do they define as social media?
02:53:30 <steve30> hopefully not IRC
02:58:33 <MrMobodies> I just found this result with a paywall behind it from Pulse
02:58:37 <MrMobodies> "19 Jun 2026 — Government urged to change law to reduce GP liability for ..... An MDO has warned GPs using AI they risk becoming the 'obvious target for a clinical negligence claim' if the technology fails."
02:58:56 <MrMobodies> I see where that is going... Smart motorways 2006
03:02:54 <MrMobodies> when they removed liability from the Highways Agency, where after a decade the families of those who died on All Running Lanes due to design, failures or where it contributed could no longer be held liable in court.
03:06:28 <MrMobodies> If patients are FORCED to speak to that thing and it is not recognising postcodes, don't understand English, dialects and giving out false medical information which I read is a criminal offence if it applied to a normal person, then these things have no place at the front desk
03:06:52 <MrMobodies> What do you think of that Steve30?
03:08:07 <steve30> it might be better if the AI company took liability rather than the doctor personally
03:08:28 <MrMobodies> Oh yes that'd be ideal if they can enforce it.
03:08:33 <steve30> If AI gives you bad advice, sue the AI company. If a Dr gives you bad advice, sue the Dr.
03:09:17 <MrMobodies> isn't there a point where doctors should be made accountable if they persist with it, knowing it is, in it's current form, not fit for purpose?
03:09:29 <steve30> yes

03:16:47 <MrMobodies> Now I can male those changing with the booth lighting.
03:16:52 <MrMobodies> ooops *make
03:18:04 <MrMobodies> and they'd be one panel, that controls all for, and another set of controls to make all the lights, dmx cans, wall washers, those tube things, the larger columns, the balls and he LED bars turn to the same control.
03:19:24 <MrMobodies> unfortunately last karaoke many told me there were already too drunk to notice before it even started and I believe them as many did look drunk and not themselves as I was setting up
03:46:56 <Nothing\> MrMobodies, yeah this summer's been awful
03:47:32 <Nothing\> you had much rain in the uk? We've been trending towards droughts and wildfires every summer on account of climate change. Just like California
03:48:12 <Nothing\> although we've had some spectacular thunderstorms already this summer and several tornadoes
03:48:41 <Nothing\> which, tornadoes aren't unheard of here, but not nearly as common as they are across the great lakes
03:49:17 <Nothing\> once the storm systems hit the cool, moist air over the lakes, they always die down before they reach us
04:18:44 <K> hello peeps
04:34:55 <Nothing\> heyyyy k
04:36:16 <Nothing\> huh i just learned that humans are able to detect the smell of petrichor (the smell of wet soil after recent rain) to something like 5 to 10 parts per TRILLION
04:36:24 <Nothing\> it's a chemical called geosmin
04:37:05 <Nothing\> I'm trying to come up with a relatable analogy to that but even an olympic sized swimming pool is still short by several orders of magnitude
04:45:05 Quit: Kuschelpony ([email protected]) Connection closed
04:49:54 <Nothing\> that is, being able to detect a single drop IN an olympic sized swimming pool.

06:53:28 <MrMobodies> Nothing just been out at the pub and got back in
06:53:41 <MrMobodies> oh he left
06:54:21 <MrMobodies> I was given a Samsung S5e t725 late last year
06:54:34 <MrMobodies> absolutely horrible getting rid of all the sh*t
06:55:03 <MrMobodies> anyway I stipped it as bare as I could get it removing packages using the USB ADB tool
06:55:39 <MrMobodies> and decided to use it for the disco lights but never could due to the poor wifi performance. It seems the worst affected out of the lot in a particiular place
06:57:16 <MrMobodies> the landlady at the pub has the one with the same issue, her Ipad is fine but her Samsung tabet isn't

06:59:11 <MrMobodies> what happens, wifi would drop or intermittently and when I'd click a button, the page would try to load forever, and evenghost would hang and I'd have to close it in device manager. Never ever does this when it is wired when i tested it.
06:59:46 <MrMobodies> might be waiting for the packet to be completed or resent maybe and that's what causes it to hang
07:02:22 <MrMobodies> I brought some things on Amazon and it seems to solve the problem. Unfortunatey lt the metal wifi bridge with the antenna's are not selling anymore but the white one seems to work okay

07:13:55 <MrMobodies> Tested it with the built in wifi, it stalled and Eventghost hanged, on ethernet with the bridge, no trouble at all.
07:14:43 <MrMobodies> so hopefully that won't be so useless when I need it the next time to control the lights.

11:20:15 <MrMobodies> Not pleased, manufacturer's list incompatible drivers with their laptops.
11:20:58 <MrMobodies> I download them, most work apart from a few like this HP 250 G5, with Intel HD 620, but drivers are for a different model
11:21:51 <MrMobodies> and I absolutely hate it when the laptops default to FULL BRIGHTNESS and cause eye strain rather than half way
