00:22:50 <Ampera> arch, the power of wearing skirts >:D
00:23:08 <arch> drat! *me snaps fingers like in a looney toons cartoon*
00:26:19 <arch> Ampera, i made dis yesterday: https://i.imgur.com/A4l4pew.jpeg
00:26:21 <Ampera> how ya doin arch
00:26:38 <Ampera> arch, where's the rope?

00:27:20 <arch> im doing alright. hows germoney? i'm going to work on making this shoe rack next: https://www.morelikehome.net/2012/10/day-8-build-shoe-rack.html
00:27:20 <EEVBot> [url] More Like Home: Day 8 - Build a Shoe Rack | www.morelikehome.net
00:27:28 <Ampera> It's been nice.
00:27:38 <Ampera> am working remote for the next couple weeks and then headed home
00:27:42 <arch> as you can see, im somewhat bored, hence why im using scrap wood i have lying around to get some woodworking practice
00:29:03 <Ampera> noice
00:31:33 <arch> the picnic table i built and which is now in my kitchen extension has been most excellent. i havent gotten the chance to do the finishing touches (spar urethane coating), but it's been holding up nice
00:31:41 <Ampera> sweet
00:31:53 <Ampera> nothing super new on my end
00:31:58 <Ampera> have been reading manga more lately
00:32:13 <arch> and either tomorrow or friday, the contractor is coming to finish up drywall, paint, and flooring my living room where the fireplace used to be
00:33:16 <arch> next big project for me is to replace the old lime mortar and repoint my stone foundation. will have to buy naturally hydrated lime and washed sand and do some handywork
00:34:21 <arch> which probably isn't gonna cost a lot of money materials wise, just time. it's ok, i can do an hour a day and take a month and be in good shape. incrementally increase the value and structural integrity of the house.
00:35:24 <arch> Ampera, are you at all a fan of shojo manga? ex: Ouran High School Host Club
00:36:18 <arch> i like that one and the other one is Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki Kun. the anime is hilarious: https://myanimelist.net/anime/23289/Gekkan_Shoujo_Nozaki-kun
00:36:19 <EEVBot> [url] Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun (Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun) - MyAnimeList.net | myanimelist.net
00:40:11 <Ampera> arch, I am, and you already mentioned that one
00:40:36 <Ampera> am currently re-reading yona of the dawn, and I i also started kamisama kiss
00:41:54 <arch> KSK i didn't really like found it cringey
00:44:48 <Ampera> arch, have you ever read vampire knight?
00:49:16 <MrMobodies> Normally water companies and ministers complain people use MORE water and pay less on a flat rate and subsidising metered customers
00:49:21 <MrMobodies> oops roll stuck
00:49:48 <MrMobodies> Now they are present the same argument in REVERSE
00:49:51 <MrMobodies> https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/cost-of-living/new-compulsory-meters-fitted-every-32295598
00:49:51 <EEVBot> [url] New compulsory meters to be fitted in 'every UK home' - Birmingham Live | www.birminghammail.co.uk
00:50:19 <MrMobodies> "Many households are likely paying more for water than they actually use because they don't have water meters fitted."
00:50:52 <MrMobodies> They are paying MORE because they are on like a service infrastructure charge known as rateable value. What a STUPID excuse.
00:51:12 <MrMobodies> It sounds like a mouth piece from Thames water
00:51:21 <arch> Ampera, no, but you did mention it to me. im not too fond of vampire anime/manga. the one remotely close to "vampire" anime i liked was: https://myanimelist.net/anime/4898/Kuroshitsuji
00:51:21 <EEVBot> [url] Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler) - MyAnimeList.net | myanimelist.net
00:51:41 <Ampera> arch, I am mentioning it because cringey isn't always a turnoff for me :)
00:51:55 <Ampera> I only read the first volume of kamisama kiss and liked it
00:52:03 <MrMobodies> Then they talk about "seasonal" rates to chagre more... more faces than the London Clock tower
01:01:33 <steve30> Ampera, want to pop over next Sunday for Sheffield Trans Pride?
01:01:54 <Ampera> steve30, I'll unfortunately be in the US next sunday
01:03:04 <steve30> How unfortunate.
01:44:31 * steve30 ponders chinese

02:14:13 <MrMobodies> I just thought of something. They want the water companies (as well as energy companies) to make more money as much as they so they can. So they can continue to set unrealistic targets and fine them to help pay for the 20bn black hole they were talking about.
02:15:06 <MrMobodies> It's like a money extracting game they play where the public pays for it.
02:16:23 <MrMobodies> So anything like seasonal/peak rate charging and the bin taxes by weight would be welcome.

03:29:59 <MrMobodies> I took two chickens, one at the time one younger and older tamest in the conservatory
03:30:13 <MrMobodies> one was panicking at first so fed them some seeds
03:30:25 <MrMobodies> then took it in my workshop and seemed very calm
03:30:48 <MrMobodies> what i got to do is clean up and remove in small screws or metal bits
03:30:53 <MrMobodies> as they might ingest i
03:31:10 <MrMobodies> I was hoping having one on the worksurface

22:29:17 * Ampera hugs Halcyon
22:29:18 <Ampera> <3
22:29:53 <Halcyon> Hey Ampera, how you going?
22:30:27 <Ampera> It's okay
22:30:36 <Ampera> at some minor odds with my family here
22:30:41 <Ampera> cultural and personality differences
22:30:44 <Ampera> not to mention language barrier
22:31:23 <Ampera> It's my chance to learn all the reasons my mom and dad had so many problems with them
22:52:59 <Halcyon> Interesting
22:53:09 <Halcyon> I guess benefit of the doubt is in order, both ways?
22:53:45 <Ampera> Halcyon, idk most of my complaints have been backed up by my parents
22:54:02 <Ampera> My grandmother is kinda a selfish child in a lot of ways.
22:54:28 <Halcyon> I'd love to know more but I don't mean to pry into your family life, particularly not publicly.
22:54:36 <Ampera> She isn't completely self-absorbed, but she will often put the onus on others to do something because she feels she's obligated to it
22:54:59 <Ampera> like she believes it is my duty to learn German, and that she shouldn't put in any effort in trying to meet me part way when communicating.
22:55:16 <Ampera> There is a good amount of German I can understand, but when I ask her to explain things differently or use simpler words she will pretty much do the opposite
22:55:22 <Ampera> or she will repeat the same thing she says over and over again
22:55:26 <Halcyon> But it seems like old women are mostly just like that. Although I wouldn't exactly use the word "selfish" in my family. My grandmother was a bitter old lady, always had a complaint about something, my mother was the same, and I see that in my sister as well.
22:55:27 <Ampera> as if I'm deaf or something
22:55:45 <Ampera> I've had older female family members who were not like that.
22:55:56 <Ampera> My memere (great grandmother) was a wonderful, progressive, and understanding person
22:56:47 <Ampera> I think she does feel obligated to certain treatment beacuse she's elder, but I also think she does it more for cultural reasons
22:57:05 <Ampera> like she thinks German culture is somewhat superior and that as I am German it is my duty to abide by and adopt it.
22:57:34 <Ampera> Her expectations for me are as a German and as a child listening to a parent, not as an adult person coming from another country to visit her
23:02:40 <Halcyon> I mean, doesn't every culture think they are superior, more or less?
23:02:47 <Halcyon> It's what they know.
23:07:50 <Ampera> Halcyon, I don't think my culture is superoir
23:08:02 <Ampera> I think there's many culture sand that there are several valid ways to approach or do things.
23:08:11 <Ampera> but I also come from a place which is a culture of cultures.
23:09:06 <Halcyon> Same here.
