13:16:23 <Longie> i was replying 2 DAT M8
13:18:46 <TextualHarassmentPanda> i guessed i was just being a dick
13:19:34 <TextualHarassmentPanda> im all excited im putting my ssd into my media centre macine
13:19:49 <TextualHarassmentPanda> should make media centre impressively fast
13:20:18 <TextualHarassmentPanda> and then imna get one of the new intel ssd's when they come out in a few months for my desk top
13:22:31 <Longie> ooooooooooooooh
13:22:35 <Longie> what size?
13:23:24 <TextualHarassmentPanda> 80gb
13:23:30 <TextualHarassmentPanda> its an x-25m g2
13:23:39 <TextualHarassmentPanda> next one im getting will be the 60gb one
13:23:50 <TextualHarassmentPanda> in both instances using it as the os drive
13:24:07 <TextualHarassmentPanda> ive had it installed before but that one died and they sent me a new one
13:24:09 <TextualHarassmentPanda> they fly
13:24:21 <TextualHarassmentPanda> boot ups still about 40 seconds but applications open instantly
13:24:35 <TextualHarassmentPanda> i always use sleep anyway and it wakes up froms leep instantly
13:28:26 <Longie> ah ok
13:28:30 <Longie> ive read a bit about it
13:28:37 <Longie> so you install things to say d:\program files
13:28:41 <Longie> but onl ywindows on the ssd?
13:29:32 <TextualHarassmentPanda> nah i recon that defeats the purpose you want all your apps and OS on the ssd but then all data inclusing my docuemnts etc on some storage disk
13:32:57 <Longie> ah ok
13:33:01 <Longie> i have 111Gb of stuff :(
13:33:08 <Longie> so id need at LEAST 128, was thinking of 160
13:33:15 <Longie> but the prices get a bit.. wel.. pricey
13:33:19 <Longie> funnily enough
13:34:29 <TextualHarassmentPanda> dan, the new intels will be out in a month or two and will be much better cost per gb wise
13:34:46 <TextualHarassmentPanda> you sholuld be able to pick up an intel x 25 m g3 for about 450aud
13:34:52 <TextualHarassmentPanda> 160gb one i mean
13:35:26 <Longie> oh thats not too bad
13:35:44 <Longie> i can wait a month or two though
13:35:49 <Longie> i dont want to, but i can
13:35:56 <TextualHarassmentPanda> yah prioce drops due to small lithography process i think its down to 32nm
13:36:33 <TextualHarassmentPanda> and the latency is way lower so random read write which is what you want for games etcx is like 4 times quicker
13:36:46 <TextualHarassmentPanda> the intel doesnt do sequential reads and writes as fast as some though
13:36:54 <TextualHarassmentPanda> but how often do you move files around
13:37:05 <TextualHarassmentPanda> and not that many programs rely on small read/writes
13:37:14 <TextualHarassmentPanda> so i still think the intel controller is the way to go
13:37:30 <Longie> most games just save current progress once a levels done and thats it
13:37:40 <Longie> oh and sc2 does replays
13:39:00 <TextualHarassmentPanda> gah machines not seeing the drive :/
13:39:09 <Longie> :/
13:39:11 <Longie> BIOS BIOS BIOS
13:39:19 <TextualHarassmentPanda> yah imna check
13:39:52 <TextualHarassmentPanda> it saw it when i booted into the existing OS but didnt in the win 7 install set up
13:40:08 <TextualHarassmentPanda> i think i know what the prob is
13:40:14 <TextualHarassmentPanda> just need to initialize it
