00:21:48 <Shiny> what sort of cpu you run in that beast?
00:21:53 <antonio> cpu[2-Intel Pentium 4, 3198MHz, 512KB (100% Load), x86 Family 15 Model 2 Stepping 9]
00:21:56 <antonio> memory[Usage: 526/2047MB (25.70%)] [|||||---------------]

00:22:27 <Shiny> meh, xchat doesn't have all that guff
00:22:32 <antonio> memory[Usage: 527/2047MB (25.74%)] [|||||---------------]
00:22:50 <antonio> its only wankfactor anyway
00:22:57 <Shiny> yeah
00:23:44 <antonio> hrmm i might buy some cpu cooling
00:24:05 <Shiny> i bought an aftermarket cpu cooler for my new pc... man it runs so cool
00:24:12 <Blade[Away]> why not just a buy completely new cpu?
00:24:21 <antonio> why bother with a new cpu for..
00:24:26 <Blade[Away]> the p4 you have, is that a s478 or lga775?
00:24:32 <antonio> no clue
00:24:41 <antonio> changing cpu to accomidate for cooling is odd
00:24:51 <Blade[Away]> your heatsink connected to a square mounting bracket?
00:25:00 <Blade[Away]> like a square black heatsink?
00:25:12 <antonio> err... still no comprende
00:25:18 <Blade[Away]> open ya case ph00l
00:25:23 <antonio> i can see inside
00:25:37 <Blade[Away]> whats ya heatsink look like
00:25:53 <antonio> a normal heatsink..
00:25:58 <Blade[Away]> does ya board have pci-e?
00:26:02 <antonio> nope
00:26:07 <antonio> asusp4p800delux
00:26:11 <Blade[Away]> ok so its s478
00:26:19 <Shiny> heh that's my old board
00:26:38 <antonio> i dont belive in changing cpu's just to get a little more power
00:26:42 <Blade[Away]> pfft asus
00:26:46 <antonio> ill just buy a completely new pc
00:26:51 <Shiny> don't be hatin blade
00:27:09 <Blade[Away]> in my books asus is just as bad as MSI
00:27:23 <Blade[Away]> will never buy an asus
00:27:32 <Shiny> in my books MSI is just as bad as gigabyte, which is a lot worse than asus
00:27:36 <antonio> ever owned an asus?
00:27:46 <Blade[Away]> dont intend too
00:27:53 <Blade[Away]> gigabyte are good boards
00:27:58 <antonio> then you shouldnt be speaking on behalf of it lol
00:28:03 <Shiny> what do you base this preference on ?
00:28:06 <Blade[Away]> but i should
00:28:16 <Blade[Away]> i have a gigabyte board
00:28:25 <Blade[Away]> no problems at all in the past 3 years
00:28:29 <Shiny> oh right, that makes asus suck?
00:28:33 <Shiny> kek
00:28:45 <Blade[Away]> ive had an asrock board which is part of asus
00:28:55 <Blade[Away]> i personally dislike asus
00:29:03 <Shiny> oh well
00:29:06 <Shiny> your loss i guess
00:29:09 <antonio> my cpu & board both work completely well, and work good when overclocking too
00:29:11 <Shiny> :)
00:29:19 <Blade[Away]> hows it my loss?
00:29:31 <Shiny> you're missing out on what i consider to be a great brand
00:29:34 <Shiny> eh
00:29:50 <antonio> dont diss it till youve tried it
00:30:00 <Blade[Away]> my next board is gonna be a DFI board which puts asus to shame.. so its not really a loss
00:30:20 <Blade[Away]> more of a gain
00:31:34 <Blade[Away]> you know, there was a 16 day stress test on intels pentiumD vs. AMDs athlon64 x2 4800+ and in the intel they had an asus board and it lasted 10minutes
00:31:43 <Shiny> wow
00:32:04 <Shiny> i've had a gigabyte motherboard that didn't work out of the box
00:32:10 <Shiny> doesn't make every model suck
00:32:15 <Shiny> just made me not like gigabyte
00:32:17 <antonio> if it only lasted 10minutes
00:32:20 <antonio> that means it was faulty
00:32:26 <antonio> if it lasted only 1day proves a point.
00:32:45 <Blade[Away]> maybe, or just that particular board wasnt designed for being stressed
00:33:08 <antonio> then its not the board manufactures fault for using the wrong board for your desired outcome
00:33:52 <Shiny> if i hooked up a pentium and an amd, overclocked them both 150% and the amd caught fire, would that be amd's fault or mine?
00:34:24 <Blade[Away]> is that rhitorical?
00:35:01 <antonio> my next board will be whatever seem's to handle the cpu the best
00:35:06 <Shiny> well i would have thought so
00:35:09 <antonio> since im going AMD no clue what brand will be good at the time.
00:36:48 <antonio> Supposedly AMD3 is set to launch Mid2008
00:37:03 <antonio> might wait around and see how it all flows
00:39:13 <Blade[Away]> AMD3? you implying the quad-core chips?
00:39:46 <antonio> yeh
00:41:40 <Blade[Away]> theyre being released q1 next year
00:42:02 <antonio> AM3 is now scheduled for the second half of 2008. AMD claims that it has delayed the AM3 plans as the cross over to DDR 3 won't happen until the middle of 2009 while AM3 "will be on time" before the big crossover happens.
00:44:06 <antonio> hrmm looking at about $2000 for my next rig
