~00:00:00 <damian> generally with a partition just *one* partition wouldn't corrupt itself, would it? .. it would usually be the whole hdd, or just random parts on it (not determined by partition)

~00:00:00 <damian> like a needed windows file goes bung on your OS partition and the partition needs to be formatted (or at least Windows reinstalled) .. if that happened on a full data partition, you just delete that file and redownload :P
~00:00:00 <steftest> well with NTFS the risk is considerably less than FAT32 due to the way it works, the files are still recoverable from anywhere in the disk, you don't need the MFT at the front
~00:00:00 <steftest> but it seems microsoft's support for NTFS has had some rather big issues
