How do I link a server to AustNet?
All the information you need can be found at the Server Application Centre. Generally servers will not be considered for testlink unless they are in an uncovered/undercovered region, or provide a topological advantage to the network. The minimum server specifications are listed at the Server Application Centre.

What do AustNet servers run on?
AustNet servers run on variants of the unix operating system. Mostly linux, FreeBSD are used however there are also some solaris and other varients of unix used. AustNet's IRC server software is not intended to run on Windows operating systems.

Where do I get server software?
ircdhelp.org has many irc server software versions available for download. The newest AustNet server daemon is not distributed unless you are accepted for a testlink by the AustNet routing member. Austnet services (OPAS) software is copyright and is not available for distribution.

Who made the AustNet server software?
AustHex was based on ircu and has been modified by a number of past and present Austnet staff and users including, RogerY, TazQ, Aka, Kwahraw, Riss, and Luyer.

AustNet uses some standard and some custom numerics. http://www.alien.net.au/irc/irc2numerics.html has a list of all numerics for all networks.
