| Channel of the Week: |
|
The website shows
the top rating profiles from each capital city, allowing users
to find people closer to them to message and maybe meet up
with. I asked FLAVi_G whether he thought people voted purely
on looks, or whether the rest of the profile was taken into
account. “You can read their profile and vote on personality
… It's totally up to the user.”
Currently FSC members can enter a competition
to win tickets to the upcoming Jarule and Ashanti concert
as a promotion for the new group profiles section of the website.
The channel is planning to have a meet next school
holidays – however if you aren’t in Melbourne,
you’ll have to be content with the channel and website!
You can find #FunkySexyCool on irc.austnet.org
– and their website is http://www.FunkySexyCool.com!

#FunkySexyCool is quickly becoming AustNet’s
premier hook-up channel, with a nightly fill of around 290.
Founded in June 2002, #FunkySexyCool
or ‘FSC’ as it’s known to it’s members
has silenced it’s critics by becoming one of AustNet’s
top 10 channels in less than a year.
The channel’s owner, FLAVi_G (a.k.a. Flavs),
attributes the channel’s success to the website which
is an integral part of the profile-trading idea which has
made the channel so popular. Users can add a profile of themselves
to the website, which includes a picture and some information,
and then paste the profiles URL in the channel, for others
to view and vote on.
I asked FLAVi_G what had made the channel so popular.
“We get a lot of people putting their pics on the site
because their friends told them about it or either they see
someone they like they want to make a profile to msg them,
also it's an easier way of showing people your pic, you're
a paste of a link away.” he said. People wanting others
to see and vote on their profile encourages others to check
out the website, and maybe create their own account. |
