The IRCG (Internet Relay Chat Gateway) was designed to link all IRC networks around the world via a message bank gateway. This allows users to talk to each other regardless of what network they are connected to. This website explains, in detail, how this is achieved along with information in linking your network and talking through the inter-network gateway.

Unlike any other gateway, the IRCG is built with client flood protection in mind. It prevents thrashes of messages transfered over the inter-irc networks amongst users, and thus cannot be used as a tool for 'network wars'. Featuring the ability to disallow clients and userhosts from using the gateway, the IRCG is able to provide a safe method of communication between networks. The gateway currently holds serveral connections to online IRC networks: AustNet http://www.austnet.org OzOrg http://www.oz.org The IRCG is founded on the participation of IRC Networks around the world. Sending private messages across the gateway is a simple process. Along side sending normal messages, you can initiate DCC Chats, use the standard PING and CTCP commands and also change your nickname without having to re-connect to the gateway. To use the gateway, simply use the following commands:

You must firstly connect to the gateway if you wish to talk to other people on other networks. To do so, simply send the connection request to GateWay. GateWay is a nickname online on all sub-networks:



To initiate the connection, simply: /msg gateway connect

Now that you have connected to the gateway, and are visible on all IRC networks online, you can initiate conversation across the networks. To do so, you simply "page" the user you request to talk with by simply typing: /msg gateway page [nickname]@[network]. For example:

The user must the establish their connection to the gateway; This can be done via two methods, firstly via connection, or secondly via auto-connection.

The other user must simply type: /msg gateway connect



Or using: /msg redtri|AU hey rt in which case triggers auto-connection, both methods perform the same function.

Using the standard method of /msg to send a private message, you can now communicate with clients on other IRC networks in the normal manner.
